#4  Bowman “pulled a fire alarm in Cannon this morning,” a spokesperson for the GOP-controlled Administration Committee told Politico. “An investigation into why it was pulled is underway.”

Bowman’s spokeswoman Emma Simon admitted her boss made a mistake.

“Congressman Bowman did not realize he would trigger a building alarm as he was rushing to make an urgent vote. The congressman regrets any confusion,” she said.

Staten Island GOP Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’ office told The Post she would move to have Bowman expelled from the chamber.

“NY Democrat Jamaal Bowman literally pulled a fire alarm to stall and prevent our efforts to force a vote to keep the federal government open. Pathetic. Criminal investigation needs to happen,” said upstate GOP Congressman Nick Langworthy.

“This is the United States Congress, not a New York City high school. To pull the fire alarm to disrupt proceedings when we are trying to draft legislation to AVERT A SHUTDOWN is pathetic…even for members of the socialist squad,” Malliotakis wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Afghanistan
Sirajuddin Haqqani in Panjshir Stresses Trust-Building
Trust? An interesting concept, under the circumstances.
[ToloNews] The acting Interior Minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani
...son of Pashtun warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani, still titular head of the Haqqani Network....
, called for trust-building between the people and the interim government.
Playing Good Talib/Bad Talib.
His visit to Panjshir was the first since the Islamic Emirate came to power.
Then he did a "Trust Fall" and nobody caught him. So he had everyone in the room executed
"Such meetings will be normal among us so I will feel he is my brother. Then the challenges and problems which exist among us, will solve themselves," he said.

Haqqani in a visit to Panjshir told the gathering that the doors for the leader of Panjshir are opened based on a "guarantee by the people of Panjshir."

Haqqani said that the people of Panjshir should not consider themselves strangers and that they will be provided with all Sharia rights.

"You have remained very loyal to your leaders. For your people's sake (people of Panjshir) and because of your people's guarantee, all doors have been opened for them (out-of-country leaders of Panjshir)," he said.

Some of the participants talked about the negative impacts of the 20-year presence of western countries in Afghanistan.

"We have sustained severe damages from our politicians who made us victims. They have ignited fighting among us," said Qiamuddin Hanif, head of the Ulema council for Panjshir.

"In more than 20 years, malicious propagandashas been injected into the minds of people by the enemies of the Islamic government," said Rohullah Rohani, a religious holy man.

Brutal Taliban Torture Campaign Unleashes Fear in Ghazni Province; Locals Forced into Mountain Hideouts
[8am] Local sources in Ghazni province have reported that Taliban
...Arabic for students...
fighters subjected several residents of Nawur district to "horrific" torture.

Sources confirmed to Hasht-e Subh on Saturday, September 30, that over the past week, Taliban fighters brutalized inhabitants of the Khawat, Jerghay, and Boregai areas in Nawur district, demanding that they surrender "weapons or money for weapons" to the group.

According to these sources, the Taliban fighters subjected a local doctor to extreme torture, leaving him in a "critical condition."

Presently, dozens of families have abandoned their homes and sought refuge in the mountains due to fear of the Taliban.

Sources add that at least two families have paid the equivalent of purchasing four firearms to the Taliban for their release from the "Taliban’s torture."

According to reports, most residents of Nawur district lack any military background or affiliation with the previous government.

Notably, a few weeks ago, Taliban fighters coerced residents of three villages in Nawur district, who had been imprisoned for 40 days, into paying a fine of five million Afghanis to a nomad.

Daily Evacuation Brief September 30, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • PAKISTAN GRAPPLES WITH MAJOR TERRORIST ATTACKS – The twin suicide bombings yesterday in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa appear to have killed over 50 people who were celebrating the birthday of the prophet. The first suicide bomber targeted a police vehicle that was stationed near a Mosque in the Mastung District. People were gathering for a procession to mark the holy day. The second blast is thought to have taken place inside a Mosque in Hangu and the roof is said to have collapsed as a result of the detonation. At least two people were killed in the second attack. Police had been warned of possible attacks but protecting so many celebrations was virtually impossible. The TTP was quick to issue a denial of its involvement in the attacks and as of publication, no group had claimed credit for either bombing. Analysts strongly suspect that one or both attacks were orchestrated by ISIS-K or possibly Baloch nationalists. However, late-breaking news out of India suggested a possible link to the Indian Intelligence services (RAW).
Blowing up a mosque? I’m not qualified to judge, but I thought RAW were among the good guys.
A Twitter account that has long been associated with RAW issued some bizarre tweets that seemed to say the bombings were some type of retribution for the killing of an Indian Detective Superintendant in the Uri area on 16 September. Obviously, any Indian involvement could easily escalate tensions between both countries.

  • TTP INFILTRATORS REPORTEDLY THWARTED IN ATTEMPT TO ENTER PAKISTAN – In a separate incident, Pakistani military forces engaged TTP militants attempting to cross the border near Sambaza. In the ensuing firefight, 3 TTP militants were reportedly killed and several others were wounded. 4 Pakistani soldiers were also killed in the melee. A source in Rawalpindi said Pakistani military leaders believe the TTP may be attempting to move a large number of forces into the country with instructions to assemble sometime in October to engage directly with the Army. It was not clear if yesterday’s incursion was related to recent reports of a large-scale offensive planned by the TTP in Pakistan proper.

  • RUSSIA REPORTEDLY GIVES A COLD RECEPTION TO THE TALIBAN AT THE MOSCOW FORMAT MEETING – According to sources present at the summit, the Russian delegation was in no mood for pleasantries and announced several blunt criticisms of the Taliban that will likely rankle Kandahar and Kabul.
    Glad to hear it.
The Russians were concerned that a civil war was coming due to the Pashtun dominance of the government. Russia said it did not believe that peace could be sustained until a truly representative government was formed.
...which would be on the far side of never, so yeah.
Until the Taliban agree to an inclusive power-sharing agreement, Russia will not recognize the Taliban as the legitimate leaders of the country. It was not clear if China or other countries present had also taken a hard line with the Taliban.

CONFLICT TRACKER

Parwan: An AFF attack on the Taliban district administrative offices in Bagram reportedly resulted in the deaths of 5 Taliban fighters while 4 others were injured. The night operation took place near midnight and involved assaults from both flanks of the building.

Khost: The local GDI director for the Taliban in the Musakhel district was reportedly assassinated and 2 other unidentified Taliban were wounded by unknown gunmen yesterday.

NISA arrests suspected Al-Shabaab arms smuggler
[GoobjoogNews] The Somali National Intelligence & Security Agency (NISA) has said it has arrested Sakariye Kamal Sufi Abba-Sheikh (Saki) a suspected arms dealer linked to the al-Shabaab

murderous Moslem group.

In a statement, NISA said that Sakariye Kamal, 28, a Somali National had been on its radar for months before he was arrested while attempting to flee to a hideout at an al-shabaab control territory.

The National Intelligence organization further revealed that Kamal was the criminal mastermind behind a network that smuggled military equipment from abroad concealed as cargo that was seized in May by government forces at the port and airport in Mogadishu.

At least five dead, 6 wounded in Mogadishu suicide blast
[ShabelleMedia The police in Mogadishu confirmed at least five are dead and six sustained wounds, some at death's door after a suicide kaboom in the capital on Friday.

The attack which was carried out by a suspected al-Shabaab
...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord...
bomber struck Bar-Bulsho teashop in Sayidka junction, a few meters away from the nation’s parliament compound.

Civilians are among the dead and injured, according to a police statement seen by Radio Shabelle. The attack comes hours after NISA said it arrested an al-Shabaab arms smuggler.

Mogadishu has been relatively peaceful and stable since the election of Hassan Sheikh Mohamud as the 10th president in May 2022. The head of state is now on the frontlines.

Al-Shabaab was driven out of the seaside city in 2011, but it still manages to conduct deadly attacks and boom-mobileings targeting key government buildings and military bases.

The Somali President, in power for five months, pledged "total war" against the Death Eaters after they attacked a popular hotel in Mogadishu in August 2022, killing at least 21 people.

Four out of the six abducted footballers 'recovered', confirms official
[GEO.TV] Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...
's Additional Chief Secretary Saleh Nasir confirmed on Friday that four out of the six footballers who were kidnapped in Dera Bugti have been recovered.

According to Nasir, the kidnapped footballers were rescued thanks to collaborative efforts by the local administration and law enforcement agencies (LEAs).

"The remaining two footballers will also be recovered soon," assured the official said.

Six footballers, while on their way to Sibbi were kidnapped from Balochistan's Jani Bair area of Dera Bugti earlier this month on September 9.

The players were residents of Dera Bugti and Sui. They were going to Sibi to take part in the qualifying round of the All Pakistain Chief Minister Gold Cup football tournament," Dera Bugti’s deputy commissioner had said earlier.

Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti had blamed turbans for the kidnapping.

"An operation is being planned to recover the players. Teams of Frontier Corps
...a provincial paramilitary force. Total manpower is about 80,000. They are tasked to help local law enforcement in the maintenance of law and order, and to carry out border patrol and a..the Antwerp-based Salafist organization that had campaigned to introduce Sharia law to Belgium before single-handedly making Belgium the highest per capita supplier of jihadis to Syria in Europe. There was a big trial in Antwerp in 2015, but most of those convicted were in absentia...nti-smuggling operations....
, deputy commissioner, commissioner and Levies Force were working to trace the suspects," Bugti said.

Cricket might be the most popular sport in Pakistain but the same can’t be said for its largest province, Balochistan, since football here is a tool that promotes social cohesion among communities and helps them escape the harsh realities of life.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
despite the ever-growing interest in football in Balochistan, only a few are lucky enough to pursue the game professionally due to the lack of a proper system and employment opportunities.

The departmental structure in Pakistain usually shows little interest in the development of players, promotion of the sport and working at the grassroots level since it is already funded by the government. This adds to the misery of places like Balochistan which is in dire need of investment in sports and especially football.

Security forces thwart TTP attempt to infiltrate from Afghanistan into Pakistan: ISPR
[GEO.TV] Security forces have thwarted an attempt of the outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban
...Arabic for students...
Pakistain (TTP) terrorists' bid to infiltrate from Afghanistan into Pakistain, the military's media wing said Friday.

The incident took place on September 28 at 5:45pm (PST), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement, as law enforcers ramp up efforts against faceless myrmidons having safe havens in Afghanistan.

As a result of the standoff, four soldiers — Havildar Sattar, Lance Naik Sher Azam, Lance Naik Adnan, and Sepoy Nadeem — embraced martyrdom after having fought valiantly.

The soldiers also sent three faceless myrmidons "to hell", the ISPR said, noting that "few" other snuffies were also injured during the gunbattle.

"Security forces of Pakistain will continue to thwart efforts of the enemies of peace and prosperity in the country," the military's media wing added.

'Terrorist ring leader' gunned down during Mardan IBO
[GEO.TV] The security forces in a major success bumped off a "terrorist ring leader" during an intelligence based operation (IBO) in the general area of Katalang in District Mardan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

A brief statement issued by the military's media wing said that the security forces engaged in two encounters with the hard boyz in two different districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, on the night between September 28 and 28.

"An intelligence based operation was conducted in general area Katalang, Mardan District, which resulted in the killing of a high value target, terrorist ring leader Faisal," the ISPR stated.

It said that the slain holy warrior was actively involved in numerous terrorist activities and was "highly wanted" by the law enforcement agencies.

Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from his possession, it added.

The ISPR said that a soldier was martyred in a separate encounter with the forces of Evil in the general area of Parachinar in District Kurram.

"Own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location. However,
if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning...
Lance Naik Ghairat Khan (age 33 years, resident of Kurram District), having fought gallantly, embraced shahadat [martyrdom]," it stated.

The military's media wing reiterated the resolve of the security forces to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country with the sacrifices of brave soldiers, which further strengthen the determination.

4 dead, 12 injured as suicde blast rips through Hangu mosque
[GEO.TV] A blast destroyed a mosque in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's Hangu, local officials confirmed Friday, leaving three dead — including a policeman — and 12 injured.

The incident took place within the parametres of Police Station Doaba during the Friday sermon — a time when scores of believers are gathered at a mosque for their weekly prayer.

Hangu District Police Officer Nisar Ahmed said 30-40 people were under the rubble — as the mosque's roof caved in — and an operation was underway to rescue them.

Ahmed said two jacket wallahs were involved in the attack — one targeted the gate of the cop shoppe, and the other went kaboom! inside the mosque.

The 12 people, rescued from the rubble, have been shifted to a nearby hospital, he said.

Caretaker Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Azam Khan, taking notice, directed officials to enforce an emergency in all hospitals of the city as he sought a report on the blast from law enforcers.

The police officials said that two gunnies tried entering the cop shoppe and started firing at the gate. They added that one of the Death Eaters was killed at the gate by the police in retaliatory fire.

Moreover, two coppers were also injured during the firing, officials of the law enforcement agency said, adding that the other hard boy went kaboom! inside the mosque.

The timely action by the police resulted in fewer casualties following the blast, they added.

This was the second terror attack to hit Pakistain in a single day as earlier today, a suicide kaboom in Balochistan
...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it...

Troops shoot at Palestinians hurling firebombs at West Bank post; 1 said killed
[IsraelTimes] IDF says pair of suspects approached military post outside Psagot settlement with Molotov cocktails; PA health authorities say one died from wounds

Israeli troops shot up two Paleostinians who threw Molotov cocktails toward a military post near a West Bank settlement on Friday, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

Health officials cited by the Paleostinian Authority’s official news agency Wafa said one of the assailants sustained critical injuries and later died of his wounds. The second Paleostinian suffered light injuries to the lower limbs in the shooting, according to the report.

Wafa named the fatality as Muhammad Jibril Rummana, without providing his age or residence, but said both were young Paleostinian men.

The IDF said in a statement Friday night that troops opened fire on the two Paleostinians after they hurled "Molotov cocktails at a military post" outside the settlement of Psagot, near Ramallah.

There were no casualties among the Israeli troops, the military said.

The IDF said the two received medical treatment following the shooting.

Wafa reported that the two Paleostinians were in a vehicle outside the Psagot settlement when they were fired upon. The news agency claimed Israeli forces prevented Paleostinian Red Islamic Thingy ambulances from providing treatment.

Early Friday, the military said troops responded with live fire after Paleostinian suspects traveling in a vehicle opened fire outside the settlement of Beit El, north of Jerusalem. The IDF said soldiers who were on an operation nearby shot at the vehicle, hitting one suspect.

Separately, the military said troops arrested one suspect in the Ramallah suburb of El-Bireh in the West Bank overnight. During the arrest, residents threw stones and firecrackers at the soldiers who responded with riot dispersal means.

The suspect was transferred to security forces for interrogation, according to the IDF.
Update from Al Ahram at 8:00 p.m. EDT:
A Paleostinian activist and member of the Islamist Hamas, the braying voice of Islamic Resistance®, movement was killed on Friday evening by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank, according to multiple sources.

"Mohammad Jibril Roummaneh died as a result of serious injuries caused by bullets fired by the occupying forces in El-Bireh" northeast of Ramallah, said the Paleostinian Ministry of Health in a statement.

It reported that a second Paleostinian had been injured but gave no details.

Hamas issued a statement describing Roummaneh as one of its members who fell as a "heroic martyr" while "defending the freedom of (his) people" near the settlement of Psagot.

Three killed in intra-SNA clashes in Syria's Sere Kaniye
[NPASYRIA] Three fighters were killed on Friday among armed factions of the Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) in festivities that broke out between the SNA’s Military Police and members of the al-Karaan-al-Uqaydat tribe, who are affiliated with the SNA’s Second Legion, in the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain), northeastern Syria.

A source told North Press, "Clashes erupted today between the Military Police and groups affiliated with an SNA faction on the Qahwat Ahmad Khan Street in the city center of Sere Kaniye."

The sources added that these festivities resulted in the killing of three members from the al-Karaan tribe, who are affiliated with the SNA’s Second Legion, at the hands of the Military Police, leading to a state of alert among tribe members.

The source also indicated that the festivities resulted in the destruction of three vehicles and 23 mm anti-aircraft guns belonging to the Military Police and the SNA’s Hamza Division.

The source noted that the festivities have temporarily ceased due to the intervention of Ottoman Turkish forces between the two parties, adding that the cause of the festivities has not been clarified yet.

US embassy shooter deported by Poland, shot at General Security 3 times
[An Nahar] The Internal Security Forces has confirmed that a food delivery driver who opened fire outside the U.S. Embassy in Beirut last week allegedly did so because of a personal grudge against the guards at the compound.

The ISF said they had arrested the suspected shooter on Monday, identifying him only by his initials M.K. and that he later confessed to the shooting.

They cited an alleged confession by him saying he was upset as the guards had insulted him two months earlier, when he came to deliver an order.

The News Agency that Dare Not be Named could not independently verify that claim.

No one was hurt in the shooting in Beirut's northeastern Christian suburb of Aukar, which left at least five bullet holes in the wall next to the embassy entrance.

The ISF said that during the arrest, security forces confiscated an AK-47, a knife and the shooter's food delivery cycle of violence. The rifle was was allegedly hidden in a food delivery bag and the shooter changed his route to reach the U.S. Embassy compound to avoid Lebanese army checkpoints on the main road.

According to the ISF statement, the man visited Poland in 2021 in a bid to obtain asylum there. "During his presence these, a dispute erupted between him and a Polish officer, who beat him up and insulted him, before he was deported to Leb

"Upon his return, he requested a new passport from the General Directorate of General Security, and after it refrained from granting him a passport according to his testimony, he opened fire on the building of the General Directorate of General Security in Adliyeh three times -- on Nov. 5, 2022, Nov. 28, 2022 and Dec. 9, 2022," the statement said.

Lebanon has a long history of attacks against Americans. The deadliest one took place in October 1983, when a suicide truck bomber drove into a four-story building, killing 241 American service members at the U.S. Marine barracks at the Beirut airport.

On April 18, 1983, a bombing attack on the U.S. Embassy killed 63 people, including at least 17 Americans. Top CIA officials were among those who died. U.S. officials blamed the Iran-backed Lebanese hard boy group Hezbollah. After that attack, the embassy was moved from central Beirut to Aukar.

A year later, on Sept. 20, 1984, a jacket wallah struck the embassy compound in Awkar, killing himself and 14 others, prompting the embassy to close.

The United States withdrew all diplomats from Beirut in September 1989 and did not reopen its embassy until 1991.

In 2008, a kaboom targeted a U.S. Embassy vehicle in northern Beirut, killing at least three Lebanese who happened to be near the car and wounding its Lebanese driver. An American passerby was also maimed.

In 1976, U.S. Ambassador Francis E. Meloy Jr. and an aide, Robert O. Waring, were kidnapped and killed in Beirut. In 1984, William Buckley, the CIA station chief in Beirut, was kidnapped and killed by the Iran-backed Islamic Jihad

Gunmen vacate Ain el-Helweh schools as joint force deploys
[An Nahar] Gunmen withdrew Friday from the schools they were occupying in the Ain el-Helweh Paleostinian refugee camp, as a joint Paleostinian force started deploying in the camp’s al-Taamir area.

The National News Agency said a "positive atmosphere" was engulfing the deployment process and that the Paleostinian force was supposed to enter into the camp’s schools.

The schools had been occupied during days of deadly fighting between hardline Islamist groups and the mainstream Fatah Movement.

The occupation forced the U.N.’s agency for Paleostinian refugees, UNRWA, to postpone the start of the school year.

will not be able to join their peers at the beginning of the school year on 2 October," an UNRWA statement said.

"UNRWA was forced to take this decision given all our eight schools inside the camp have been taken over by gangs. They have sustained significant destruction and damage. Other schools — outside the camp- are currently being used by displaced families," said Dorothée Klaus, Director of UNRWA Affairs in Lebanon.

At least 4,000 people have been forced to flee their homes in Ain el-Helweh. Many sought refuge in UNRWA facilities while others are staying with relatives and friends.
