[SUDANTRIBUNE] A leading member of the Coordination of Forces Signatories to the Framework Agreement accused the military of obstructing the political process in Sudan, adding that the chances of ending the coup are slim.
Three months after the signing of the Political Framework Agreement, the gaps grew between the civilian and the military signatories, particularly after the murder of a protester.
Before that the Sudanese general surprised the public opinion by their repeated calls to integrate the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and to add more political forces to the forces indicated in the deal.
In remarks on Wednesday evening to Al Jazeera, Kamal Omer, the head of the political sector of the Popular Congress Party (PCP) said that the "coup regime" does not want to make the political process a success after its refusal to create a conducive environment.
"It seems clear now that the coup regime is not serious about the political process and maintaining security," Omer said.
He further said that the statement issued by the Supreme Coordinating Committee of the signatories to the framework agreement stressed that the behaviour of the army leader hinders efforts for a political solution.
The PCP official called to dismiss the head of the Sudanese police.
" "In my opinion, the chances of a framework solution have become slim in the face of the military’s intransigence and systematic killing, " he emphasized, before pointing out the erosion of confidence between the civilian and military components.
Last February, al-Burhan called to open the agreement for more political forces, while one of the army commanders and a member of the Sovereign Council, Shams al-Din al-Kabbashi, said that the signing forces are not sufficient for political stability in the country.
Sudanese police announced, on Wednesday night, lifting the immunity of the killer of the protester. Also, the statement said he has been under arrest and a committee has been formed to investigate the murder.
For his part, a Sudanese lawyer Moez Hadrat called to hold the Khartoum state governor in his capacity as head of the state’s security committee accountable for the killing of the young protester
"The members of the Khartoum state committee, including the governor, should be investigated, as they are responsible for securing and protecting peaceful protests," Hadrat told Sudan Tribune on Wednesday.

[Al Ahram] "We will explore all legal and peaceful options to reclaim our mandate. We won the election and we will prove it to Nigerians," the Labour Party candidate told news hounds in the capital Abuja.
Tinubu, a former Lagos governor, is set to succeed two-term President Muhammadu Buhari, who steps down in May.
He faces immense security and economic challenges in Africa's most populous country.
Almost 25 million people cast a ballot on Saturday in a vote that was largely peaceful but marked by long delays and the slow arrival of online results, angering voters and opposition parties who claim massive vote-rigging.
Obi, 61, obtained the third largest number of votes, at 6.1 million, according to results announced Wednesday -- a significant feat for an outsider in a country where two establishment parties dominate.
Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner with a total of 8.8 million votes and the required number of votes across two-thirds of Nigeria's states.
Former vice president Atiku Abubakar, 76, of the opposition's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), obtained the second largest number of overall votes, at 6.9 million.
Abubakar who lost his sixth bid for the presidency has not yet officially commented on the outcome of the election.
Candidates who want to submit legal challenges have 21 days following the announcement of results to bring their case to the courts.
Tinubu on Wednesday called on his rivals and their supporters to "join hands" with him, urging them to "come in so that we may begin the task of rebuilding our national home together."

[WSJ] In late 2018, the companies behind the most widely traded cryptocurrency were struggling to maintain their access to the global banking system. Some of their backers turned to shadowy intermediaries, falsified documents and shell companies to get back in, documents show.
One of those intermediaries, a major tether trader in China, was trying to "circumvent the banking system by providing fake sales invoices and contracts for each deposit and withdrawal," Stephen Moore, one of the owners of Tether Holdings Ltd., said in an email viewed by The Wall Street Journal.
...
A cache of emails and documents reviewed by the Journal show a long-running effort to stay connected to the financial system. The companies often hid their identities behind other businesses or individuals. Using third parties occasionally caused problems, including hundreds of millions of dollars of seized assets and connections to a designated terrorist organization...
Another account on a list of several created for use by Tether and Bitfinex was opened in Turkey in the name of a company called Deniz Royal Dis Ticaret Limited Sirketi, according to one of the documents. That account was allegedly used to launder money raised by Hamas’s armed Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, according to an affidavit filed by the Justice Department. The al-Qassam Brigades is designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. government.
The account was cited in 2020 when the Justice Department disrupted a terror financing operation that the al-Qassam Brigades used to accept cryptocurrency donations and convert them into fiat currency. The operation allegedly used a black-market money transmitting business that used an account at Bitfinex and carried out more than $80 million in transactions with the Deniz Royal account, according to court documents and people familiar with the matter.
U.S. authorities seized more than $1 million allegedly tied to the al-Qassam Brigades, with most coming from the money transmitting business that transacted with Deniz Royal, according to blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis. The case is currently proceeding under seal.
[TOLONEWS] The former US special envoy for Afghanistan’s reconciliation, Zalmay Khalilzad, said that if there is any center of al-Qaeda, it "would be Iran" and this will affect the relationship between Iran ...The nation is noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence... and the world.
Speaking in an interview with TOLOnews, Khalilzad said that more than elsewhere, if there is any center for the group, it would be Iran.
"Once Afghanistan was a center for al-Qaeda, but al-Qaeda has changed and its small groups have become a network that exists in various areas of the world. But if there is any center, it should be Iran," he said.
He said that one of the reasons that the US pulled out of Afghanistan was the change in course of terrorism.
In response to questions asked about the claims of the regional countries that ISIS is formed by the US, Khalilzad said "ISIS" is a threat to the US and the world and that the US conducted several operations against ISIS in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq.
"Iran and Russia benefited from the presence of ISIS. If someone thinks about who benefited from it, then it could be said that Russia and Iran are behind ISIS," Khalilzad said.
He said that two groups that are significant for the security of the US are ISIS and al-Qaeda, and that the Doha agreement focused on these two groups.
When asked about the handing over of Afghanistan’s embassies to the Islamic Emirate in Iran and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... , Khalilzad said that the decision could be due to economic issues, but both countries denied recognition of the Taliban ...Arabic for students... government.
