[CBS 5] Gov. Kathy Hobbs on Tuesday criticized those who deny the election for holding parliamentary hearings last week that publicly vilified her and other elected officials.
A key witness at a hearing last week accused politicians, judges and other officials of taking bribes from a Mexican drug cartel without proof. "Honestly, this makes the legislature a laughingstock and Arizona more broadly, and I hope people will be held accountable for this," Hobbs said during a press conference. It took her crack staff five days to come up with this carefully crafted 'defense'?
These were the governor’s first public comments since Thursday’s joint election hearing went completely off the rails. During this hearing, the Scottsdale insurance agent was allowed to make unsubstantiated allegations of voter fraud and bribery. She accused the governor and others on both sides of the aisle of being in the pockets of the Sinaloa cartel. Funny, I swear I saw some legal documents, deeds and suchlike, in the paperwork presented. Voter fraud seemed to be more of a sideshow.

As I remember, the Trump rule states that unsubstantiated innuendo must be investigated if the charges are serious.

Speaking of cartels and corruption, I tried yesterday to post an article about this lady's testimony to Congress for today's Rantburg but something must have gone wrong. I dunno, maybe the mods didn't like it and now I can't find it. So here's the story from Breitbart: Mom of 2 Fentanyl Victims to Congress: ‘You’re Welcoming Drug Dealers Across Our Border!’
From the Breitbart article, check out how Bennie Thompson attempts to hold border security hostage so he can get his so-called "immigration reform":
Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Ranking Member of the Committee on Homeland Security, led Committee Democrats in calling out Republicans for holding another politically charged border security hearing to attack the Administration while ignoring the clear need for comprehensive immigration reform to address the situation at the border.
IOW, Thompson doesn't give a rat's ass about kids dying from fentanyl. Gotta wonder how much the cartels are paying him.

[Breitbart] Top Congressional investigator Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) is calling for whistleblowers to come forward after the arrest of an Israeli think-tank executive who allegedly served with Hunter Biden as an adviser to a Chinese energy company and claims to have documents detailing financial links between President Joe Biden and the company.
Gal Luft, co-director of the D.C.-based Institute for the Analysis of Global Security and specialist in energy security and U.S.-China relations, was arrested in Cyprus on an Interpol arrest warrant against him on suspicion of arms trafficking to Libya and China, according to Israeli news outlet Ynet.
But, according to Luft, the arrest is “political revenge” for bringing the FBI incriminating information ahead of the 2020 election about Joe Biden’s ties to his family’s business with a Chinese energy company.
“My only ‘sin’ is that in March 2019, before the US presidential elections, I brought to the FBI incriminating information about the business of US President Joe Biden’s family with China, and about a corruption case at the top of the FBI,” Luft told Ynet.
Israeli international criminal and civil rights lawyer Mordechai Tzivin, who is representing Luft, told the Jerusalem Post his client has information that would “bury” Hunter Biden and “shift attention toward the president himself.”
“[He] knows a lot of information on Hunter. The [Congress] only recently began to investigate Hunter’s case and Gal’s testimony, if [he is allowed to testify] will bury Hunter Biden.” Tzivin told the Post. “Even more so, his testimony will shift the attention toward the president himself.”
Tzivin refused to provide documentation to support his claims when contacted by Breitbart News. Tzivin also declined to provide comment.
Issa — who held Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress in 2012, the first time in history that such a punitive measure had been taken against an AG — now sits on the House Judiciary Committee and the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government. The congressman has displayed eagerness to investigate election interference with regard to the suppression of information on Biden family business entanglements, sending preservation of documents notices last March to 12 individuals involved in the censorship of the New York Post’s reporting on the Biden scion’s “laptop from hell.”
The House Oversight Committee told Breitbart that it is aware of Luft’s allegations and will be making contact with his lawyer.
“Oversight Committee staff are aware of the allegations and will be in touch with the attorney soon,” the committee’s spokesman said.
In recent days, a number of Biden family associates have been reported to be cooperating with House investigators as polling shows a further drift in sentiment away from the president’s family and its business dealings.
Kathy Chung, President Biden’s former “primary gatekeeper,” has agreed to partially comply with the House Oversight Committee’s probe into the classified document scandal and the Biden family’s international business schemes. Chung’s lawyer, Bill Taylor, told CNN she will hand over some requested documents and sit for an interview with the committee.
Hunter Biden’s top financial lieutenant Eric Schwerin is also expected to “soon” provide documents to the Oversight Committee’s investigation of the Biden family, according to a spokesperson for the committee who spoke to Breitbart.
[FoxNews] Cori Bush's campaign paid her husband for security services - but he doesn't have a private security license. Bush's now-husband - who collected $60K in campaign payments - does not have a St. Louis security license.
Missouri Democratic Rep. Cori Bush's campaign doled out $60,000 in private security payments last year to Cortney Merritts, who she quietly married earlier this month.
Merritts, however, pocketed the security payments despite not having a St. Louis private security license, which is needed to perform security functions in the area, Fox News Digital has discovered. Merritts also received the campaign's cash as it simultaneously paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to a St. Louis security firm and another individual for personal protection.
Fox News Digital filed a public records request with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on Monday morning seeking information regarding Merritts' private security license. In response, a Sunshine Law administrator said there are "no responsive records" relative to the request, and Merritts does not have a current license.
When asked if Merritts ever had a private security license, the administrator said that the "last security license issued to that individual expired in 2012."
Merritts also does not appear in a database of licensed security professionals in the Washington, D.C. area, Fox News Digital confirmed with the city's Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.
Bush's campaign pushed the security cash to Merritts as it disbursed large sums to PEACE Security, a St. Louis-based firm that employs several "security operators" with military or law enforcement experience, a cached version of its website states.
From January to late December 2022, Merritts collected a steady stream of $2,500 checks totaling $60,000 from Bush's campaign for security, her filings show. He was also reimbursed $2,359.59 for gas and travel. While Merritts cashed the checks, Bush's campaign paid PEACE Security $225,281.80 for personal protection, according to a review of her campaign records. Bush's committee also paid $50,000 to an individual named Nathaniel Davis for security during that time.
Merritts, meanwhile, says he's the owner of Vetted Movers on his LinkedIn profile. On Jan. 3, he even offered moving services to Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
"I'm at the Capitol offering to help Kevin McCarthy move his s--- out of the Speaker's office and back into his own," Merritts tweeted.
St. Louis' KSDK reported Sunday night that Bush and Merritts recently tied the knot in a private ceremony. Following the report, Bush's office confirmed their marriage on Monday morning, saying they've been together since before Bush took office in 2021.
Before adding Merritts to her campaign's payroll, the outspoken 'Squad' member came under fire for dropping funds into private security while calling to defund the police.
Fox News Digital first reported on Bush's security payments in July 2021, prompting CBS News questions about the cash and whether it was hypocritical to hire personal security while pushing to strip law enforcement of their budgets.
"They would rather I die?" Bush asked. "You would rather me die? Is that what you want to see? You want to see me die? You know, because that could be the alternative." "Your proposal is acceptable"
Bush said she would ensure she has security because she has had attempts on her life and has "too much work to do."
"So suck it up, and defunding the police has to happen," she added.

Typical LSD.
Play the Race Card and point the finger at others for what they are doing themselves. All while getting RICH $$$$ off of the taxpayers that they lie to and screw over.
[JNS] "The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad Way" honors a dishonorable man who cozied up with neo-Nazi ...adherents of a philosophy that was seen even at the time as pure evil, which makes them either consciously and purely evil, or attention-seeking ratbags. Pick one, or both.... s and called Jews greedy.
The New York City Council approved a plan Thursday to name a block in Harlem after National of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad.
"Early on, Elijah Muhammad preached about greedy Jews and advanced the longstanding antisemitic trope that Jews turned Jesus Christ in to the authorities," according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.
"Muhammad invited American Nazi Party boss George Lincoln Rockwell to the NOI’s 1962 Saviours’ Day Convention," where Rockwell dubbed Muhammad "the Adolf Hitler ...late Fuehrer of Germany, founder of the Third Reich, currently communing with his pals Himmler and Heydrich. He is reincarnated every few days as a politician somebody doesn't like... of the black man," the center added.
Still, the council supported naming the Manhattan intersection of West 127th Street and Malcolm X Boulevard "The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad Way," reported the New York Daily News. You know it's gonna be a dump and crime-infested hellhole
"He fails every test we could possibly put forward: the test based on the values and views of today, and the values and views of the times in which he lived and worked," David Carr, a Republican council member said at a committee hearing.
Kristin Richardson Jordan, a far-left council member who represents Harlem and who proposed the street naming, called the honor "way overdue."
"It is actually not OK to erase black leaders who are not pleasing to white people," she said during the vote. "I profoundly vote aye on Elijah Muhammad Way."
"The corner is the site of the NOI-owned Mosque Temple No. 7, where Malcolm X long preached," according to the editorial board of the New York Post, "and where an NYPD officer was slain in 1972 (three years before Mohammad’s death) by unidentified NOI bandidosmurderous Moslems while responding to a false emergency call at the mosque. That is, this renaming would be a dishonor in multiple ways."
"This renaming would be an utter obscenity," the Post board added.
Per recent reporting, Illinois taxpayers are funding at least $500,000 for a group that is inspired by the Nation of Islam, whose leadership held official roles in the Nation of Islam and which calls itself "the archives for the Nation of Islam."
Scaremongering leftwing “activists”, according to the article, not anything official. Probably supported by the same Progressive billionaire crowd that’s been causing problems here.
[The Hill] House Republicans are pumping the brakes on the release of Jan. 6 surveillance footage they’ve offered to Fox News host Tucker Carlson and going on offense against Democrats who have spent the past week slamming the move.
Republican leaders are emphasizing that no clips will be broadcast without prior security clearance while accusing Democrats of neglecting the same precautions during the investigation by the House select committee last year — a charge the Democrats quickly rejected.
Carlson, Fox’s wildly popular conservative pundit, said last week that he would begin airing footage from the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot this week, after Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) offered him what Carlson described as "unfettered" exclusive access to more than 40,000 hours of unreleased surveillance tape starting earlier in the month.
Yet McCarthy and other Republicans, following days of silence on the topic, made clear Tuesday that no information would be released to Carlson’s team — let alone broadcast publicly — before the footage is screened to ensure it doesn’t compromise the security of the Capitol complex.
The Speaker said Republicans are working with the U.S. Capitol Police to ensure that’s the case.

"Security clearances?" Security clearances for foking what ?
"...the security of the Capitol complex."
Weak, very weak. We'll likely NEVER see all the footage because personnel from other gov't agencies (OGA) and/or recruited sources were involved and may be identified.
The numbers of these personnel and sources could potentially be staggering.
The logistics for such a contingent and the planning and operations cells (on-site/off-site), could be quite interesting. I suspect all of this took weeks to assemble and rehearse.

I would have thought that by now the U.S. Capitol Police would have made changes to ensure that the events were not replicated. Oh, sorry. I forgot. It's Washington D.C.

[ZERO] While the White House reported Monday that the U.S. intelligence community has not yet reached a "consensus" on the origins of the COVID-19 virus, the Biden administration voiced support for the practice of gain-of-function research, so long as it was done safely, securely, and with transparency.
As complicated as it is complex, such research generally refers to the intentional manipulation of viruses to make them more transmissible, and therefore more dangerous, in order to study them. Critics argue the risks outweigh any potential reward if this kind of research goes wrong.
Congressional Republicans, led by Sens. Marco Rubio, Tom Cotton, and Rand Paul, say that the coronavirus likely leaked from a Chinese research facility in Wuhan that was engaging in that kind of research and have called for a moratorium on federal funding to any university or organizations conducting gain-of-function studies.
When RealClearPolitics asked Monday if President Biden thought gain of function was "prudent," John Kirby, the president’s National Security Council spokesman replied that he did.
"He believes that it’s important to help prevent future pandemics, which means he understands that there has to be legitimate scientific research into the sources or potential sources of pandemics so that we understand it so that we can prevent them and we prevent them from happening obviously," Kirby said before adding that the president believed any such research "must be done in a safe and secure manner and as transparent as possible to the rest of the world."
To sum up, Kirby then told RCP, "I think that’s a fancy way of saying ’yes.’

/\ But if it's all flattened in a yuge artillery war or contaminated by low-yield nukes, whose to ever find out ?
CHICAGO (AP) — Paul Vallas and Brandon Johnson will meet in a runoff to be the next mayor of Chicago after voters on Tuesday denied incumbent Lori Lightfoot a second term, issuing a rebuke to a leader who made history as head of the nation’s third-largest city.
Vallas, a former schools CEO backed by the police union, and Johnson, a Cook County commissioner endorsed by the Chicago Teachers Union, advanced to the April 4 runoff after none of the nine candidates was able to secure over 50% of the vote to win outright.
Lightfoot, the first Black woman and first openly gay person to lead the city, won her first term in 2019 after promising to end decades of corruption and backroom dealing at City Hall. But opponents blamed Lightfoot for an increase in crime that occured in cities across the U.S. during the pandemic and criticized her as being a divisive, overly contentious leader.
She is the first elected Chicago mayor to lose a reelection bid since 1983, when Jane Byrne, the city’s first female mayor, lost her Democratic primary.
Speaking to supporters Tuesday night, Lightfoot called being Chicago’s mayor "the honor of a lifetime."
"Regardless of tonight’s outcome, we fought the right fights and we put this city on a better path," Lightfoot said. She told her fellow mayors around the country not to fear being bold.

Crime was so bad Lightfoot took the 281.5 million dollar grant from the federal government to fight COVID and gave it to the police instead. And homicides still increased.
Until public hangings are restored, animals will continue to stalk the streets.

I'm guessing she wore out her welcome with the cabal of minor villains that runs Chicago.
Lightfoot, the first Black woman and first openly gay person to lead the city,
Have you ever noticed that someone marketed as the "first member of some minority group" tends to... what's a nice way to say this?... perform poorly at their job? Being "First Whatever" is like being a dancing bear. The thing about a dancing bear is not how well it dances, but that it can dance at all.
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Newly reelected Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose 19-point victory over Democrat Charlie Crist ...the politically androgynous former governor of Florida... surprised him and most of the political establishment, said that a Republican should be able to repeat his win on the national stage if they follow his model of ignoring polls and governing with their gut. The Dems aren't gonna run Charlie Crist for president.
In his campaign-style autobiography, The Courage to be Free, DeSantis wrote, "From day one, I was fully prepared to let the political chips fall where they may. That we not only succeeded electorally, but did so in dramatic fashion, demonstrates that doing good policy can lead to good politics."
The Republican, who won with the biggest margin in Florida in a generation, added, "The Florida Blueprint is a simple formula: be willing to lead, have the courage of your convictions, deliver for your constituents, and reap the political rewards. This is a blueprint for America’s revival. We’ve shown it can be done."

And just how is he going to clean up voting in LA, Phoenix, Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, and Atlanta to make that happen?
Show me one time in any major election that a court has voided a corrupt election and ordered a new one.

I like DeSantis but Procopius2k is right. Florida cleaned up after the 2000 Gore vs Bush. The other states did not. Only a few have done so after the 2020 election and Republicans in those states that did nothing should be tarred and feathered.

I think he'll face major obstacles winning us over w/ Bush Dynasty, P.Ryan, Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Project, and the rest of the establishment in his corner.
Someone will say, 'but Democrats'. We dont care. RINOs: Dem vs Rep - same trajectory, one is slightly more repungent and faster to the finish.
Btwn Dems cheating machine and us who will not vote for the Establishment Candidate, DeSantis has a difficult path.
