Greek FM: Dbaiba Usurping Power in Libya
[LIBYAREVIEW] Greek Foreign Minister, Nikos Dendias said the Libyan Government of National Unity (GNU), led by Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba is "usurping power and using the country’s resources."

In an interview with Greece’s TANEA newspaper, Dendias said he had agreed with the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed al-Mnifi to hold a meeting in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
, without any communications with the GNU, "But the agreement was not kept (so I left)."

Dendias cancelled his trip to the Libyan capital, minutes after arriving at Tripoli’s Mitiga International Airport. After the plane landed, his Libyan counterpart Najla al-Mangoush was waiting to receive him, "the Greek FM refused to disembark the plane, and returned to Athens without any clarifications," according to a statement. However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all...
Libyan local media reported that Dendias redirected his plane to Benghazi, in Libya’s east, where the Libyan Parliament and the rival Bashagha government are located.

He added that the GNU "has a limited mandate and has no right to sign agreements." He referred to the position of the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
, stressing that the government is not authorized to sign agreements.

When asked if his decision to immediately leave Tripoli was a matter of symbolism or of substance, the Greek FM said: "Absolutely both of them. It is not possible to do what we do not see. The other thing is that there is an understanding with the Egyptians," he added.

Dendias claimed that the GNU "doesn’t want meaningful contact" with Greece. "They say that this government should hold elections, but it didn’t. It is usurping power, and using Libya’s resources to sign with the Turks," he added.

He said the purpose of the visit was to maintain a strong relationship with eastern Libya. The Libyan Parliament has repeatedly voiced its rejection of the hydrocarbons memorandum with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the occupiers of Greek Asia Minor...
"Field Marshal Haftar was absolutely on the line that we would like them to be. Haftar and Parliament Speaker, Ageela Saleh emphasized that the Ottoman Turkish presence is harmful and unacceptable," Dendias noted.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Fanfare for first flight from Israel to Qatar
At least in English this newspaper from Pakistan, which still shrilly pronounces itself at war with Israel at every opportunity, takes this détente calmly and without triggering adjectives. Truly we live in an age of miracles.
[Dawn] Balloons festooned the departure gate for the first commercial flight between Israel and Qatar
...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. They piss it all away on religion, financing the Moslem Brotherhood and several al-Qaeda affiliates. Home of nutbag holy manYusuf al-Qaradawi...
on Sunday, permitted by Doha for World Cup fans despite a lack of formal bilateral relations.

While the excitement was mainly at being able to attend the soccer tournament, for which Israel did not qualify, with such surprising ease several passengers voiced hope that the non-stop flights would clear the way to fuller detente with Qatar.

They were issued contact cards for a discreet Israeli consular delegation sent ahead to provide emergency support, a reminder of their current semi-recognised status in Qatar, which is close to Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites....
and has hosted leaders of Paleostinian Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,.

"There were a few concerns, I cannot deny that," said Sagi Ashkevitz, flying with three friends to his second World Cup.

"But in the end, the idea of watching (Lionel) Messi for the last time, together with the idea that we are actually making history, overcame all of the concerns," Ashkevitz added.

At least 10,000 Israelis are expected at the month-long matches, most of them coming through third countries. Those boarding the TUS Airways plane at Ben Gurion Airport were originally told they would have a brief stopover in Cyprus.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
US building ‘air and maritime defense’ system in Mideast to deter ‘imminent threats’
[IsraelTimes] Brett McGurk, top White House official on region, says ’something long talked about is now being done, through innovative partnerships and new technologies’

The United States is reinforcing defense infrastructure in the Middle East, at a time of tension with Iran, a US official said Sunday, adding that Tehran had likely abandoned a plan to attack Saudi Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. Fifteen of the nineteen WTC hijackers were Saudis, and most major jihadi commanders were Saudis, to include Osama bin Laden. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman quietly folded that tent in 2016, doing terrible things to the guys running it, and has since been dragging the kingdom into the current century...
due to security cooperation.

Brett McGurk, the National Security Council coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, told the annual Manama Dialogue conference in Bahrain that his country is focused on deterring "imminent threats" in the strategic energy-rich and conflict-ridden region.

"The United States is now actively building and enabling an integrated air and maritime defense architecture in this region," said McGurk, the top White House official on the Middle East.

"Something long talked about is now being done, through innovative partnerships and new technologies," he added without elaborating.

On Saturday, the US Central Command chief General Michael Kurilla announced during the same conference that a US-led task force will deploy more than 100 unmanned vessels in the Gulf region’s strategic waters by next year to stave off maritime threats.

The announcements came after Israel and the United States blamed Iran
...They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
for a dronezap off the coast of Oman last week that hit a tanker operated by an Israeli-owned firm.

The attack, which coincided with heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington, was the latest in a string of disruptions in Gulf waters that are a major route for world energy supplies.

McGurk said the US forces have "exposed and deterred imminent threats" by Iran, confirming earlier reports that the Islamic Theocratic Republic was planning an attack against its regional rival Saudi Arabia.

"That attack likely did not emerge because of the close security cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the United States, which is ongoing and continuous," he explained.

Speaking at the same session, the Israeli National Security Adviser Eyal Hulata described Iran as Israel’s "most prominent security threat."

Israel has lobbied the United States and main European powers to abandon attempts to renew a 2015 deal with Tehran over its nuclear program.

Negotiations over that deal have stalled.

"Enough with futile talks in Vienna," said Hulata, adding that "even the people of Iran are saying enough" as the regime embarks "on a brutal crackdown against its own people."

He was referring to the two months of nationwide protests which have become the biggest challenge to Iran’s holy manal regime since the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.
