[FoxNews] The U.S. Customs and Border Protection office at the Pharr International Bridges Cargo Facility in Texas has intercepted over a million dollars in alleged fentanyl.
On Thursday, officers assigned to the cargo facility encountered a commercial tractor-trailer arriving from Mexico.
An officer referred the vehicle for further inspection.
After utilizing non-intrusive inspection equipment and screening by a canine team, CBP found 19 packages of alleged fentanyl that had been concealed in the tractor.
The packages weighed more than 44 pounds and are reportedly worth $1,036,000.
[FoxNews] An infant in Phoenix, Arizona tested positive for fentanyl in the second such case police have encountered in less than a week.
Phoenix Police responded to the latest case at 10 a.m. local time on Wednesday, discovering an infant that tested positive for exposure to fentanyl. The infant was treated and is expected to survive, with police saying the baby was placed in the care of the Department of Child Safety, according to a report from Fox 10.
The case comes less than a week after Phoenix Police were forced to give a different infant a life-saving dose of Narcan after it was suspected of being exposed to the dangerous drug.
"When they arrived they located a family with a young infant that appeared lethargic with shallow breathing," a police spokesperson said. "The infant was treated with Narcan on scene and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The infant is expected to survive."
Later blood tests confirmed the infant was positive for fentanyl.
"Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit took over the investigation," police said in a statement. "A search warrant was obtained for the parents' apartment where evidence of fentanyl was located. Currently, there are no arrests however, the investigation remains active."
"Many users believe that they are purchasing heroin and actually don’t know that they are purchasing fentanyl – which often results in overdose deaths," the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) warns. "Clandestinely-produced fentanyl is primarily manufactured in Mexico."
[FoxNews] A suspected intoxicated person on a horse galloping through traffic in southern California refused to pull over for police and was arrested following a brief pursuit.
Whittier Police Department posted about the unusual case on their Instagram page.
"At the conclusion, a suspect was taken into custody and the horse was brought to our station, where it received lots of love from our team," the post with three photos attached reads.
The unidentified rider is expected to be charged with driving under the influence, according to KTLA.
Easy enough, if they could eradicate stupid.
[FoxNews] The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation announced $1.2 billion on Sunday for efforts to eradicate polio worldwide.
Polio was paralyzing tens of thousands of children a year in dozens of countries around the world just a few decades ago, but the virus is now only endemic in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Part of the success in eradicating the virus is due to the nearly $5 billion that the Gates Foundation has contributed to the Global Polio Eradication Initiative.
"Polio eradication is within reach. But as far as we have come, the disease remains a threat. Working together, the world can end this disease," Bill Gates said in a statement.
Despite the success in fighting the virus, samples of the poliovirus have been detected in wastewater this year, in New York. A 20-year-old Rockland County man became paralyzed after contracting the virus this summer.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency last month, urging residents to get vaccinated.
Polio was also detected in wastewater in London earlier this year.
The Global Polio Eradication Initiative will require $4.8 billion in funding through 2026 with the goal of vaccinating 370 million children.
"The fight against polio has done far more than protect children against polio. It has played a key role in strengthening health systems," Melinda French Gates said in a statement.
Given the LSD's OPEN BORDERS and having seen the effects and the panic of polio as a child in Rural Ga. 60+ years ago, I cannot fault Gates on this one.

The polio vaccine actually does what medical authorities claim it does. It’s a real vaccine, and it works.
The mRNA experimental gene therapy is not a vaccine. It doesn’t work, and it has horrific side effects that are up to 100 times more probable and more devastating than the disease.
The medical authorities have be loaned themselves and lied shamelessly with this one. They have no credibility at this point.
We’ve fallen a long way down from the days of Jonas Salk.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Three people, including two religious scholars, have died and seven others have been injured as a result of a traffic accident on the Jawzjan-Balkh highway in northern Afghanistan.
According to the Taliban ...Arabic for students... -controlled media, Bakhtar news agency, the traffic accident took place on the Jawzjan-Balkh highway on Saturday night, October 15.
Two religious scholars were among the dead, according to Bismillah Nusrat, the Taliban Director of Information and Culture for Jawzjan province in northern Afghanistan, according to Bakhtar.
Although the Taliban authorities provided no additional information regarding the specific details and cause of the traffic mishap, they did state that many of those killed were school and university students.
The number of traffic accidents nationwide has significantly increased recently.
Previously, three people were killed and three others were maimed when a car deviated on the Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... -Badghis highway in western Afghanistan and overturned, according to local Herat province sources.
According to the sources familiar with the accident, the traffic incident happened on Tuesday, October 11, as the car was traveling from Herat province to Qala-e-Naw, the lovely provincial capital of Badghis.
The main causes of traffic accidents in the country, which significantly contribute to the number of traffic-related deaths in Afghanistan, are deteriorated roads, reckless driving, and a disregard for traffic laws.

The sources said that the studen, Noha Abdullah Hamoud Saeed al-Juma’i, belonging to the Department of Medical Physics in the Faculty of Science at Taiz University, disappeared last Thursday, after leaving her home in the neighborhood of al-Dahi west of Taiz city, and entering her university.
The sources added that the surveillance camera captured Noha’s entry into the university, but did not capture her leaving the university, leaving her whereabouts unknown.
"Today, her family was allowed to search the university campus, without finding a trace of her, amid a deafening silence from the city security department, which received a report from her family immediately after her disappearance, without taking any action or issuing an explanation," one of the sources said.
It is noteworthy that the city of Taiz, which is under the controlled by the Islah bad boys, has been witnessing a dire security breakdown.

[Market Watch] The real-estate market is taking a beating, with mortgage rates surpassing 7%.
"Rates are still rising, and will continue to rise here on out," Christine Cooper, chief U.S. economist and managing director at CoStar Group, told MarketWatch in an interview.

Friend lives near a house in Ocean Beach (San Diego) that just sold for significantly more than any comps. I suspect some people are going to regret buying at the top of the market but apparently the buyer was rich and buying a second home so clearly they know their money managing better than I.
From 1942 to 1958, the plant served as the pilot plant for the Weldon Spring operation that Besoeker mentioned.
The chemical operations they preformed are pretty hair-raising. Radiation was apparently the least of their concerns. They were doing large-scale purification of uranium compounds using wartime controls (or lack thereof). I would imagine that the whole area around the plant was contaminated with uranium and daughter species. They probably just tore down the most offending buildings and built new ones on the site.
Mallinckrodt had been storing radioactive slag (left over after the uranium had been extracted) at the airport (due to contractual requirements with Belgium), but later a contractor haphazardly moved much of it to Cold Water Creek, as shown in the photo of barrels in the Daily Mail.
