"But the sad reality is that in the last year and a half in particular, there is a very real and pervasive fear of carjacking across our city"
Nothing to do with defunding the police.
Defunding the police, encouraging BLM to run amok, refusing to arrest or prosecute, and shutting down all the things that kids used to be able to do. Perhaps Chicago should prosecute the politicians who set up the situation, starting with Da Mayoress herself.
[FoxNews] Crime has risen across most cities. Minneapolis has seen a nearly 530% increase in carjackings over the past two years and other cities are seeing the rise as well. Some investigators say carjackings are linked to juvenile suspects.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is suggesting that her city’s dramatic rise in carjackings since the start of the coronavirus pandemic is linked to students being kept away from classrooms with remote learning.
Lightfoot argued in favor of the connection Monday as Chicago announced that it is expanding its vehicular hijacking task force and installing more cameras and license plate readers around the city in hopes of preventing the crimes.
"We are seeing an inordinate number of juveniles that are the perpetrators of these carjackings. I think in Chicago we have consistently seen 50% or higher of the people that we are arresting are juveniles," Lightfoot told reporters.
"We started seeing this rise in cases in 2020. And I’ll be frank and say in Chicago there was a correlation we believe between remote learning and the rise in carjackings," she added. "Having talked to state attorneys who are dealing with these cases in juvenile court and others, a lot of parents went to work during the day thinking their teenagers were logged on for remote learning, only to find something else. And I ask, ‘Is there some new market for stolen cars?’ And unfortunately the answer was no -- that for many of these kids, some of whom had no prior involvement in the criminal justice system, this was pure boredom."
Data compiled by CBS Chicago shows that there were 603 carjackings in 2019, before that number rose to 1,413 in 2020 and 1,850 last year.
From the beginning of 2015 until the start of 2020, there were only three months in Chicago where the number of carjackings recorded was 100 or more, the station’s data shows. However, since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 18 months with 100 or more recorded carjackings.

The abject stupidity in the above paragraph will take weeks to unpack.

And just how many of the gangbangers and other criminals are actually taking school classes via remote learning? I'm thinking not many.

[Breitbart] The left-wing W.K. Kellogg Foundation, which effectively controls the Kellogg Company, is bankrolling a pilot program that will provide hundreds of illegal aliens living in the United States with a guaranteed basic income.
How is this different than welfare? Except that it is going to illegals rather than citizens, I mean. But at least they’re spending their own money instead of takings from the taxpayers...
A coalition of activist organizations has teamed up to institute the pilot program across 13 counties in New Mexico where 330 illegal alien households will receive monthly payments of $500 for the next year.
The W.K. Kellogg Foundation is bankrolling the program, local media reports:
The New Mexico Economic Relief Working Group has partnered with UpTogether, a national nonprofit, to provide the monthly payments to qualifying families beginning in March. The coalition says the NM Immigrant GBI Project will be the first statewide [guaranteed basic income] effort. [Emphasis added]
ERWG said 330 families from 13 New Mexico counties, including Doña Ana County, will receive monthly payments of $500 for 12 months beginning in March. The payments will be delivered through direct deposit or prepaid cards, and there are no conditions on what the money can be used for. Funding is coming from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and UpTogether, a news release states.
[FoxNews] Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said it will not seek to deport an illegal immigrant who allegedly drew swastikas in Washington D.C.’s Union Station and who has previously been deported four times — with the agency citing the capital’s "sanctuary city" policies.
Geraldo Pando, a Mexican national, was arrested last month for vandalism and is accused of having drawn the Nazi symbols a day after International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The incident is being investigated as a possible "hate crime."
In a statement, an ICE spokesperson told Fox News Digital that Pando entered the U.S. illegally as a minor in 1990. He was arrested for the first time in 2006 in Colorado and was deported in 2006, 2007, 2014 and 2017.
The Washington Examiner first reported that Pando has been deported before, that he has a lengthy criminal history, including a 35-page criminal history in Colorado for crimes stretching from possession of drugs to misdemeanor theft, and that ICE had not sought to take him into custody after his arrest.
ICE told Fox News Digital it has not issued a detainer — a request that ICE be informed of an illegal immigrant’s pending release from custody, so they can be moved into deportation proceedings. The spokesperson cited D.C.’s status as a "non-cooperative jurisdiction," typically referred to as a "sanctuary city."
Sanctuary cities limit law enforcement cooperation with federal immigration authorities, resulting in most ICE detainers being ignored.
An official from Loudoun County Public Schools has sent an email to principals explaining how to go about obtaining a warrant should a student refuse to mask
Step-by-step guide email was sent last Tuesday suggested that the police would only get involved once a warrant had been issued by a magistrate
An executive order from Governor Glenn Youngkin last month gave parents the authority when deciding whether or not students go to school masked
Loudoun Country School District, near Washington D.C. decided to keep pre-existing mask mandates in place for students with board voting 8-1 in favor
School officials had said that students who repeatedly refuse to wearing a mask would face suspension and if they returned may be issued a trespassing notice
Days after the email, Loudoun County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Scott Ziegler stressed that no students had been arrested for trespassing

Arrest the board and principles, make sure they are fired and lose their pensions and make sure they are humiliated while serving their sentence by cleaning up the schools and highways in pink uniforms.

Don't public officials have to be bonded? I saw a guy give a school board speech the other day were he had pulled out their bonding info and informed them he would make sure every parent had one in their hands in that district where they could make complaints against the board members. After so many complaints the bonds would be cancelled and they would not be able to serve anymore.

The school board shall require the clerk and any deputy clerk to furnish a corporate surety bond conditioned upon their faithful performance and discharge of their duties. That's what I could find in Virginia law, y'all are alot smarter than me so I will let you do with what you want to with the info.

It's only a matter of will of enforcing existing law and the traditional making 'example of others' to alter behavior.
[EpochTimes] Trucks carrying goods across the U.S.—Canada border have had to shift their routes because of the protests against COVID-19 vaccine mandates in Canada, the White House said Feb. 7.
While there have been zero impacts to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operations, "some shipments were rerouted by our law enforcement partners to other points of entry due to road closures," White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters during a briefing in Washington.
"Some shippers have had to reroute. But CBP has been in communication throughout to ensure shipments can be cleared and onto the normal routes," she added. Mayor Pete's been coordinating all the independent truckers, too?
Psaki was responding after a reporter with Reuters asked if the U.S. government was investigating "right-wing forces" that the reporter claimed have been supporting the protesters.
After dodging the original question speaking about the rerouting, Psaki added, "In terms of an assessment of any other engagement from here, we don’t really have any update on that or any investigation to read out at this point in time." But thanks for the tip, we'll circle back on that.

[Breitbart] German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has shied away from backing President Joe Biden’s pledge to "bring an end" to the Nord Stream 2 pipeline to Europe should Russia invade Ukraine.
In a joint press conference from the White House on Monday, Germany’s recently installed left-wing chancellor, Olaf Scholz refused to confirm his country’s position on the controversial pipeline should Russian forces cross into Ukraine. No 'confirmation' necessary. We've already anticipated the outcome.
Despite lifting sanctions on the pipeline put in place by Donald Trump, President Joe Biden said per a White House readout: "If Germany — if Russia invades — that means tanks or troops crossing the — the border of Ukraine again — then there will be — we — there will be no longer a Nord Stream 2. We will bring an end to it."
Though American sanctions could hinder the project, the construction is basically complete and opening of the pipeline is ultimately in the hands of Germany, with approval required from the country’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur).
The German chancellor promised to act with "one voice" on the Ukrainian issue with the United States, yet he failed to support the threat to shut down Nord Stream 2.
"It is part of this process that we do not spell out everything in public because Russia could understand that there might be even more to come. And, at the same time, it is very clear we are well prepared with far-reaching measures," Sholz said according to White House interpreters.

Mr Magoo sets off WWIII:
"If Germany — if Russia invades — that means tanks or troops crossing the — the border of Ukraine again — then there will be — we — there will be no longer a ... "
...a USA, Magoo? Because you've destroyed it already with your millions of 'limited incursionist' invaders across our southern border?

It's a bit difficult for me to comment on this. I'm no fan of Scholz.
Scholz is already notorious in Germany for never properly answering a question. Something he learned from Merkel.
But he might have a point here. You keep your adversary guessing, you don't tell him what you will do if he does something.
Biden's definition of an invasion is brain dead. If the Russians attack Ukraine, they'll probably destroy the Ukrainian military without setting a foot into the country. Then what?
Nord Stream 2, btw., isn't THAT important btw. Canceling it will certainly not stop the Russians from doing what they want to do.

Interesting 'on site' analysis EU. Always great to get your insights.

I actually think that Scholz DID promise Biden in private that he would shut down Nord Stream 2 in case of an invasion. Because it's simply impossible for Germany to certify Nord Stream 2 if the Russians occupy Ukraine.
All this talking about it leads to nothing.

Biden has mad diplomatic skillz. Have you heard his story about how he dealt with Corn Pop that summer at the swimming pool?
[Your News] Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) introduced a bill on Tuesday that would allow servicemembers who were discharged over the Biden administration’s military coronavirus vaccine mandate to be reinstated, Breitbart News has exclusively learned.
The bill, called the Service Restoration Act, would also prevent troops from facing punishment or any adverse treatment as a result of not wanting to get vaccinated. "Adverse action" would include retaliation, punishment, disparate treatment, a requirement to wear a mask or reside in sub-standard housing.
The bill would also allow reinstated service members to count the time they were discharged towards their retirement benefits and expunge from the service member’s service record any adverse action that was based solely on not receiving the vaccine.

Seems to be virtually no discussion about anti-vax employment terminations within the US intelligence community. Surely there must be that odd one or two refusenicks.
[Epoch Times] The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Feb. 7 declared a heightened terrorism threat due to "false and misleading narratives," misinformation, and "conspiracy theories."
"The United States remains in a heightened threat environment fueled by several factors, including an online environment filled with false or misleading narratives and conspiracy theories, and other forms of mis- dis- and mal-information introduced and/or amplified by foreign and domestic threat actors," the DHS bulletin said.
The agency did not say what foreign or domestic actors are responsible for the alleged proliferation of misinformation or disinformation.
"Mass casualty attacks and other acts of targeted violence conducted by lone offenders and small groups acting in furtherance of ideological beliefs and/or personal grievances pose an ongoing threat to the nation," the DHS continued, adding that some individuals are seeking to "sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions."
Some individuals, the bulletin alleged, are calling for violence against critical infrastructure, faith-based institutions like churches or synagogues, colleges, government personnel or facilities, and other targets.
As an example of key factors that allegedly contribute to the heightened threat environment, the DHS said there are misleading narratives surrounding COVID-19 and claimed that some individuals have used COVID-19 mandates or vaccines to carry out attacks since 2020. I guess I missed those attacks.
The agency did not elaborate or provide additional evidence for its allegations. The DHS also listed online claims of election fraud as a contributor, and it also did not provide additional details or evidence. Perhaps the ace press corp will seek further clarification? But there were some well-documented attacks, and some examples of potential attacks provided
It said violent extremists, including the individual who recently launched an attack against the synagogue in Texas, highlight "the continuing threat of violence based upon racial or religious motivations, as well as threats against faith-based organizations."
The ISIS terrorist group and its affiliates "may issue public calls for retaliation due to the strike that recently killed ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi".
The bulletin also made note of alleged recent threats to black colleges and universities across the United States.
"Domestic violent extremists have ... recently aspired to disrupt U.S. electric and communications critical infrastructure, including by spreading false or misleading narratives about 5G cellular technology," the bulletin continued.
The DHS said the heightened threat alert will expire on June 7, 2022.

The attack on the synagogue was carried out by a foreign Muslim motivated by antisemitism and jihad. Beyond the probability he had local support -- who bought his gun on the street? -- what does that have to do with the rest of their litany?

Sadly my cynical mind suspects that when the arrests for the myriad crimes of the Biden family syndicate finally begin, a Presidential Pardon will loom, and they know it. Nothing else can explain the arrogant boldness of the graft and corruption they display. It appears to eclipse even the Clinton and Obama records, certainly for chutzpah if nothing else!
[FoxNews] Capitol Police were also directed to look for information on donors and staff, according to letter
Several Republicans signed a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Committee on House Administration Chairwoman Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., calling on them to investigate the reports of Capitol Police "monitoring" lawmakers and citizens.
Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz., led the letter exclusively obtained by Fox News Digital with 33 of his GOP colleagues to Pelosi and Lofgren regarding reports that Capitol Police have dug into the backgrounds of people who meet with lawmakers.
"Recent reports state that the Capitol Police are surveilling Members of Congress, Congressional staff, and their Capitol visitors," Biggs told Fox News Digital in a Monday statement.
"If these reports are true, that the Capitol Police force is actively looking for and reviewing private information, then this is a gross violation of American civil liberties and an abuse of power," he continued. "I’m calling on Speaker Pelosi and Chairwoman Lofgren to do what is best for the American people and look into this troubling report."
The letter points to an explosive POLITICO report, saying that the Capitol Police reportedly "monitoring Members of Congress, their staff, constituents, and supporters raises serious constitutional concerns."
The Republicans wrote that the report revealed the Capitol Police are also "monitoring the online activity of congressional staff and individuals who meet with Members of Congress" and that the force is "reviewing property tax information" to learn the owners of the buildings "where the meetings take place" as well as "reviewing online information to determine if any of the meeting attendees have contacts with foreign nationals."
"Additionally, Capitol Police were directed to look for information on donors and staff ‘that would cast a member in a negative light,’" the letter reads.
"If true, these allegations are serious violations of Americans’ civil rights and civil liberties," it continues. "Our constituents have the right to petition Congress and they should be able to exercise this right without fear that Capitol Police will scrutinize their property taxes, social media, or relationships."
The lawmakers said the report "also leaves many serious questions unanswered," such as if the Capitol Police routinely looks into the backgrounds of Americans meeting with lawmakers or if the investigating has been done with the knowledge and approval of the lawmaker they’re meeting with.
Biggs is joined in his quest for answers by several of his Republican colleagues, including Reps. Debbie Lesko of Arizona, Brian Mast of Florida, and Van Taylor of Texas.
Pelosi’s and Lofgren’s offices did not provide comment to Fox News Digital.
