NY Gov Kathy Hochul on Friday declared a 'disaster state' due to COVID levels being at a rate not seen in the state since April 2020
She stressed that the new variant Omicron has not yet been found in the US, but experts believe it is only a matter of time
Hochul announced that hospitals have the option of canceling elective surgeries, if they become dangerously overwhelmed, to free up staff and facilities
Her move was in response to the new COVID variant Omicron, which begun in Botswana and is spreading rapidly in South Africa
It has now been found in Hong Kong, Israel and Belgium, with about 100 confirmed cases worldwide
Experts do not yet know if Omicron is more transmissible or more dangerous, but they fear it could be more resistant to vaccines or immunity
President Joe Biden earlier Friday banned travel from South Africa and seven other countries in the region, following in the footsteps of the UK, Israel and the EU

New York declares a State of $$$$ Emergency $$$$. Troops ordered to assist Michigan. How far are we from Martial Law and FEMA region military governance ?
If one or two states are under lockdown and are unable to hold elections, the electoral process must surely be suspended until this menace is brought under control.

The point of the fable of "The boy who cried wolf," was not that there was no wolf, but rather, when the wolf actually came, nobody believed it.

To secure entry into the US, South African travelers should declare themselves "migrants" and enter through Del Rio TX (with appropriate contributions to the Biden Crime Family of course). Problem solved.

One thing about viral epidemics, the viruses strongly tend to get less lethal the more contagious they are. We are even seeing that with COVID-19. I anticipate the pandemic will burn out when COVID-19 is as common as the common cold. The media will cover that up as long as they can get away with it.

Ebola may be an exception to #17. However it kills so fast that simple isolation of the sick works, unlike the case with COVID.

Stock market tanked yesterday, not because investors fear Omicron, but because they fear this type of reaction from the politicians.

Rayciss, yes. Xenophobic too. And, yes, Biden ranted and raved about OrangeMan doing the same thing except that OrangeMan did it to China. That was the real no no.

[DAILYCALLER] An Indianapolis Public Schools administrator who leaked student trainings infused with Critical Race Theory
...teaches that skin color is the most important characteristic of any person, which translates to separate but equal with a different bunch in charge. All whites and Asians are born racist and racism permeates every aspect of society, which should be dismantled and the remains turned over to the kind of dipshit who pushes this nonsense... (CRT) was banned from school buildings and locked out of his email Wednesday.
"I am currently banned from going to any IPS school building or hosting any professional developments," Tony Kinnett posted on Twitter Nov. 24, sharing a screenshot of his work email login.
He confirmed that the actions came in response to the Daily Caller News Foundation report, describing warnings he had received from human resources over his "whistleblowing."
Kinnett provided a video to the DCNF featuring an equity administrator who lectured middle school students about systemic racism ...the idea that the nation is racist to the core, always was, and always will be. 330 million Americans live in Selma, Alabama in 1965, and we're never, ever leaving... permeating all aspects of society, including related to the environment.
"The environment, oh my, there’s so much racism dealing with just the environment," Dr. Patricia Payne told students at Butler University Laboratory School 60 in a "Racial Justice Speaker Series" lecture given on Jan. 15.
While the Indianapolis Public Schools have denied that CRT has been taught, Kinnett has released information that calls those denials into question.
"We don’t have the quotes and theories as state standards, per se. We do have Critical Race Theory in how we teach," Kinnett explained in a video provided to the DCNF earlier this month.
CRT holds that America is fundamentally racist, yet it teaches people to view every social interaction and person in terms of race. Its adherents pursue "antiracism" through the end of merit, objective truth and the adoption of race-based policies.
Kinnett plans further releases, stating he downloaded a number of files and video.

[INQUIRER] Energy costs for electric customers are going up by as much as 50% across Pennsylvania next week, the latest manifestation of across-the-board energy price increases impacting gasoline, heating oil, propane, and natural gas.Eight Pennsylvania electric utilities are set to increase their energy prices on Dec. 1, reflecting the higher cost to produce electricity. Peco Energy, which serves Philadelphia and its suburbs, will boost its energy charge by 6.4% on Dec. 1, from 6.6 cents per kilowatt hour to about 7 cents per kWh. Energy charges account for about half of a residential bill.
PPL Electric Utilities, the Allentown company that serves a large swath of Pennsylvania including parts of Bucks, Montgomery, and Chester Counties, will impose a 26% increase on residential energy costs on Dec. 1, from about 7.5 cents per kWh to 9.5 cents per kWh. That’s an increase of $40 a month for an electric heating customer who uses 2,000 kWh a month.
Pike County Light & Power, which serves about 4,800 customers in Northeast Pennsylvania, will increase energy charges by 50%, according to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
"All electric distribution companies face the same market forces as PPL Electric Utilities," PPL said in a statement. Each Pennsylvania utility follows a different PUC-regulated plan for procuring energy from power generators, which explains why some customers are absorbing the hit sooner rather than later, it said.

Now add Electric cars into the mix in years to come.
[HOTAIR] Last week, the city of Baltimore, Maryland once again passed the grim milestone of seeing more than 300 murders in 2021 and there’s still more than a month to go. This is the seventh straight year that Charm City has broken that barrier. Crime rates of most types are also up around other parts of the state. In response, Governor Larry Hogan once again proposed legislation to combat the ongoing problem. His "refund the police" initiative would invest $150 million into state and local police departments to hire more officers and upgrade equipment. In typical fashion, the state’s Democratic leadership panned the proposal, but a new internal poll indicates that the public in Maryland is on Hogan’s side by a wide margin. And that included both the Black and Hispanic communities in Baltimore. (Free Beacon)
The poll, which was provided by an outside group aligned with Hogan, shows that 64 percent of likely black voters in the state "strongly support" the governor’s proposal to "provide greatly increased funding to state and local police agencies," while 24 percent "somewhat support" the policy. Hogan’s initiative enjoys similar support across racial lines—89 and 74 percent of white and Hispanic voters support it, respectively.
Those numbers contradict state Democrats’ criticism of the plan.
In addition to the proposed funding increase, Hogan introduced two other bills. One would significantly increase penalties for those who use or possess illegal firearms. The other would compel the state’s criminal sentencing commission to "track and publish detailed information on the sentences that are handed down by judges for violent mostly peaceful crimes." The Governor also announced a plan to review all of the funding supplied to Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, who has notoriously refused to prosecute many types of crime during her tenure in office.
Democratic state house speaker Adrienne Jones immediately accused the Governor of trying to "politicize public safety." The Democratic state senate president called the refund the police program "divisive ...politicians call things divisive when when the other side sez something they don't like. Their own statements are never divisive, they're principled... rhetoric that would not make communities safer."
Looking at these most recent poll results, however, it appears that the Democrats in Maryland are yet again severely misreading the room. The margins on this aren’t even close. Support for the plan crosses all racial lines and those who "strongly support" vastly outnumber those who "somewhat support."
And why wouldn’t people be willing to give this a try? The victims of the latest spate of murders included two maiden of tender yearss aged five and thirteen, as well as a 69-year-old woman who was stabbed to death inside of a church. The gangs of Baltimore are so far out of control that it’s difficult to describe. The Wire was a documentary
[HOTAIR] In Texas, North Carolina, Ohio and Georgia, Republican state politicians have either created supermajorities capable of overriding a governor’s veto or whittled down competitive districts so significantly that Republicans’ advantage is virtually impenetrable — leaving voters in narrowly divided states powerless to change the leadership of their legislatures.
Although much of the attention on this year’s redistricting process has focused on gerrymandered congressional maps, the new maps being drafted in state legislatures have been just as distorted.
And statehouses have taken on towering importance: With the federal government gridlocked, these legislatures now serve as the country’s policy laboratory, crafting bills on child sacrifice abortion, guns, voting restrictions and other issues that shape the national political debate.

[DAILYWIRE] New surveys from Democrat Party strategists reportedly show that the party’s brand is in shambles nationwide as the Biden administration, the same old faces in slightly different places, the same old ideas, the same old graft ...the pack of self-imagined masterminds of strategy and intrigue at the service of the Biden Crime Family and a grateful nation... deals with skyrocketing inflation, rising fuel costs, a continued disaster on the U.S. Southern Border, fallout from the disaster in Afghanistan, and numerous other problems."What they discovered, largely through focus groups and polling, was even worse than expected," Politico reported. "The problems cut far deeper than the failings of their gubernatorial nominee, Terry McAuliffe ...If you constructed what a political boss looks like, it would be him.... , or President Joe The Big Guy Biden ...46th president of the U.S. Sleazy Dem machine politician, paterfamilias of the Biden Crime Family, the guy who bungled Afghanistan... ’s flagging approval ratings. Rather, the Democratic Party’s entire brand was a wreck."
People who voted for Democrat President Joe Biden could not name anything that Democrats had done "except a few" who pointed to the infrastructure bill, which was bipartisan. The voters could not say what the Democrat Party stood for or what they were doing on the national level.
"Less than a year ahead of midterm elections, in which even Democrats widely expect they will lose the House and, possibly, the Senate, the party is confronting an identity crisis," the report added. "It isn’t just Biden’s cratering public approval ratings, inflation, or the precedent that the party in power typically loses seats in a president’s first midterm."
Politico noted that a Democrat strategist who advises the party’s major donors said after the House passed Biden’s massive far-left social spending bill that it was "[t]oo late. We’re f—ed."
The report said that skyrocketing inflation, a lack of workers at stores, and supply chain disruptions were having a significant negative impact on the people’s view of the economy.
The most devastating part of the report was the finding that everything the Democrats have been banking their future on — the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the far-left social spending bill — "show few signs of helping them at the ballot box."
The focus groups found that "2020 Biden voters had little positive to say about him right now" and that "many described disappointment or a sense that he is not doing well."
