Explain to me again why the death penalty is cruel and unusual. I think execution needs to be compared to the crime - if it's less cruel, it's appropriate.
Austin Hayes, a homeless Portland man, has been arrested over the murder of Quinton Miller, who was stabbed to death. The city has been experiencing a surge of homeless-related violence ever since city council suspended homeless sweeps, defunded police & tolerated far-left riots. pic.twitter.com/YPIBYq8mYj
In July, a woman visiting Portland & staying at a downtown hotel was thrown to the ground by the hair and stabbed. Tammy Marie Imholt, who is homeless, was charged over the serious assault. https://t.co/jbR4TvvfbVpic.twitter.com/3Lyi9wqplr

Story is shooter was the sushi chef at the deli counter, who had been fired because sales were bad.
Evidently, people in Memphis don't go to Kroger to get their sushi. Suprise.

[NYPOST] Turns out humans aren’t the only ones who get down and dirty for sexual pleasure.
A pair of frisky gorillas at the Bronx Zoo proved that when one was filmed performing oral sex on its partner in front of aghast zoo-goers. A clip of the NSFW scene is currently blowing up on social media — but animal experts report that it’s all completely normal.
"I was shocked and had no idea that was a ’natural’ act," the videographer, who has opted to remain anonymous, told The Post of the steamy spectacle, which he captured while visiting the iconic NYC zoo with his family.
"I was in the gorilla exhibit with my 4-year-old daughter and niece," he said. "My wife had to stay out of the exhibit with my sleeping son, so I wanted to capture a lot of video. Then this magic happened."

Isn't that what volcanoes usually do? And ain't "Fuego" (Fire, if your Spanish is that rusty) an original name for a volcano?
Had a conversation with eldest about the merits of learning other languages. I explained to her that magic moment when you realize all those exotic sounding names are just as flat as our own.

So this group of people is out of country, and sit down at the local restaurant.
Waiter comes up, says something unintelligible. Group of people all make that face when presented with this situation. Again, waiter speaks, and finally one of the group says, "We Do Not Speak Your Language."
Waiter, speaking slower and louder, says, "I'm from Boston!"
[KavkazUzel] A court in Volgograd has appointed real terms for five Jehovah's Witnesses, having found them guilty in an extremism case. The defendants pleaded not guilty and are going to appeal the verdict. The relatives of the convicts said the sentence was expected.
As the "Caucasian Knot" wrote, five Jehovah's Witnesses from Volgograd accused of extremism declared in court that they were not involved in the activities of the organization banned by the court. The prosecution requested seven to nine years in prison for them. The relatives of the defendants indicated that in the event of a real imprisonment, the families of the Volgograd Jehovah's Witnesses will be left without breadwinners. In the last word, the defendants declared their innocence and asked the court to acquit them.
Jehovah's Witnesses Valery Rogozin, Sergei Melnik, Igor Yegozaryan, Vyacheslav Osipov and Denis Peresunko were accused of involvement in an organization that the court found extremist. But they themselves insist that they are not involved in the activities of a legal entity prohibited by the court, but simply professed their religion. In court, according to the defense of believers, evidence was disclosed that had nothing to do with the essence of the charges or the religious views of the defendants, and the religious examination did not explain what the extremism imputed to believers was.

[REGNUM] A total of 14 individuals were rescued from a group of tourists who asked for help on Elbrus. This was announced on September 24 by the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.
It is specified that 14 out of 19 people are alive, currently rescuers are evacuating them. Two more people are alive, their whereabouts are known, rescuers are now making their way to them. There is great hope that people can be saved.
A group of 23 climbers registered their route according to the rules. Of these, four people did not begin to climb, the remaining 19 began to climb to the top, but at an altitude of 5,400 meters they asked for help due to the deteriorating weather conditions.
It is noted that one of the climbers has a damaged leg, the health of two more has worsened. The rescuers managed to lower five athletes from a height of 5,400 m to a height of 5,000 m. The search and rescue operation continues, 40 rescuers and 12 pieces of equipment are taking part in it.
Earlier IA REGNUM reported the death of three climbers from the group climbing Mount Elbrus.
[TRENDINGPOLITICS] According to Chinese defector Wei Jingsheng, the COVID-19 outbreak was intentional and was released through the Military World Games in Wuhan, China in October 2019 and China decided to wait two months before they notified the world.
Jingsheng said the athletes fell sick after the event yet nothing was done.
Check out what the Daily Mail reported:
A whistleblower has sensationally claimed China deliberately spread Covid at a military tournament two months before the rest of the world knew about the deadly virus.
Ex-Chinese Communist Party insider Wei Jingsheng said The World Military Games in October 2019 could have acted as the virus’ first superspreader event.
The international tournament for military athletes was held in Wuhan — the origin of the Covid-19 pandemic — two months before China notified the World Health Organisation ...Kind of like the Center for Disease Control only run by the UN, with about the results you'd expectt... about its first cases.
Mr Jingsheng claimed it was no coincidence some of the 9,000 international athletes who gathered for the event reportedly became sick with a mystery illness.
"I thought the Chinese government would take this opportunity to spread the virus during the Military Games, as many foreigners would show up there," he said the new Sky News documentary What Really Happened in Wuhan.

Amazing what we hear despite Social Media and the WH & MSM efforts to control the narrative.
[Reuters] - A period of high inflation in the United States may last longer than anticipated, two U.S. Federal Reserve officials said on Wednesday, prompting one to pull forward his views on when the central bank should start raising interest rates.
Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic said with growth surging to an estimated 7% this year and inflation well above the Fed's 2% target, he now expects interest rates will need to rise in late 2022.
"Given the upside surprise in recent data points I pulled forward my projection," Bostic said, placing him among seven Fed policymakers who at the central bank's meeting last week projected the overnight policy rate may need to lift from the current near zero level sometime next year.

expects interest rates will need to rise in late 2022.
Too late. With a Federal debt of $30 trillion, each percent rise in the interest rate requires 1.4% of GDP, or 8% of total federal tax receipts, to pay for it. Only way out is ruinous inflation with low interest rates to steal Americans' and world wide dollar holders' savings.

Inflation as a policy is a form of hidden tax, since debt repayment can be made with lesser real value future dollars, reducing the net monetary value of the debt service calculated in past dollar terms...simply put, the face value of the debt instruments is fixed, but the future repayment dollars are inflated, and in high inflation, significantly so. That it is a betrayal of the public trust to knowingly implement such a policy just goes along with all the other malfeasance attributable to the Imperial attitudes of democrats and the uniparty.
The port complex of Los Angeles and Long Beach, which moves 40 percent of containers in the US, currently has 62 cargo ships waiting to enter the port
The backup was brought on by a combination of it being peak shipping period and a pandemic-induced buying boom and labor shortage
The ports serve as the entry point for a third of imports to the US, and are the main import point for goods coming from China
The west coast ports have faced traffic since August, when a then record-breaking 44 container ships were stuck off the coast due to similar disruptions
The Long Beach port is now on pace to break it's all-time record and process than 9 million container units this year, almost a million more units than in 2020
[Free Beacon] Defense Department's reliance on Chinese supply chains for pharmaceuticals poses a severe national security risk, a Pentagon inspector general's report warns.
The U.S. military's ability to treat soldiers and personnel worldwide relies on products made and shipped in foreign countries. The Pentagon does not produce its own pharmaceuticals, so it relies on the American commercial sector to procure vital medicines for the armed forces. As the commercial sector increases its reliance on foreign countries the department follows suit, the report, which was released Wednesday, found.
"Pharmaceutical supply disruptions could compromise the standard of care to [Defense Department] beneficiaries," the report concludes. "A disruption of the supply of foreign-made [active pharmaceutical ingredients] to domestic manufacturers could cause a drug shortage that affects every level of the U.S. health care system."
Some 72 percent of commercial pharmaceuticals are procured from foreign countries, and 13 percent come from China, according to a 2019 Food and Drug Administration study. During the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic, China threatened to withhold life-saving drugs from American citizens over the growing rift between Washington and Beijing.
[American Thinker] So is Joe Biden ready to lose the U.S. Navy SEALs?
Sure looks like it, based on this JustTheNews report:
Several hundred elite Navy SEALs are in danger of being blocked from deploying with their special operator teams by the Pentagon after failing to get a mandatory COVID vaccine, according to a lawyer and pastor counseling them.
The number involved in the dispute with the Pentagon amounts to as many as a quarter or more of all active duty SEALs, a loss that could impact military readiness since SEAL teams play an outsized role in modern military operations, their advocates told Just the News.
If so, that's bad news for military readiness. We all know what happens to military readiness when the Navy loses a ship — imagine the impact of losing a huge chunk of the elite fighting force. And in the wake of Biden's failed Afghanistan pullout, with terrorists the world over regrouping, there could be consequences for the U.S.
JustTheNews notes that it costs $500,000 to train a SEAL. There's also the reality that only one out of four SEAL applicants actually makes it through training to get the title of SEAL; the rest wash out. They're not called an elite fighting force for nothing. What's more, they are very popular with the public, having taken down Osama bin Laden and other terrorist monsters to protect our country. Biden wants to get rid of that?
Now, to be fair, there are sound reasons for asking troops to get vaxxed. One unvaxxed troop spreading disease to the others on the tightly packed Navy ship or submarine is no laughing matter, particularly since the vaccine itself isn't preventing breakthrough infections.
But there are valid reasons for objecting, too.
Taking the vaccine, for one, might actually be making troops more vulnerable, if the example of hyper-vaxxed Israel is taken into account.
Some troops may object to taking the vaccine based on that, and others may object based on the record these vaccines have of triggering heart problems in young people, particularly healthy young men such as themselves. Compared to the low lethality of having COVID among the healthy young, taking a vaccine with those life-altering potential results seems stupid.

Today the Arizona election audit comes out and that makes everything pivotal if the company that did it is not corrupt like most of today's America is these days.
#3
Swamp actively blocking and suppressing Arizona audit at every opportunity. The fix is in just as with Hunters laptop. Shows how much corruption is so pervasive.
This is easily the third or fourth 'report' I've seen in the last week or so saying that (Fill in the name of elite group here)was going to be in deep trouble because of vaccine refusals. My favorite was the alleged middle-of-the-night text from SECDEF to all F-22 pilots that they had a couple days to get vaxxed or else.
These are men who have achieved the pinnacle of military readiness and reputation. They have gotten shots for things we've never even heard of, and done so uncomplainingly. Even if this were somehow true, the line of men more than willing to get the shot and replace them would stretch for a hundred yards or more.
If this were to have shown up on even Fox News, I would say there might be some truth to it.
JustTheNews? Justtheno.

/\ Ditto Mike. Numbers reductions possibly, not entire unit eliminations. Keeping the flag will allow continued POM budget line entry and funding. Gotta keep the funding flow, a few ghost soldiers holding the flag should work.
The Goldwater–Nichols Department of Defense Reorganization Act of October 1986 gave SOF a separate budget line (not included in Big Army, Big Navy, etc.) Much easier for the Klingon's to manipulate.

Besoeker,
The force reduction angle is one I hadn't considered, but one that makes a lot of sense - the USN has been looking to trim its special ops forces for a while now; they had to expand them far beyond any reasonable limit because they were the most effective forces we had in the AF and Iraq...which meant that people got in who ordinarily shouldn't have.

[PJMedia] Nazis, racism, manipulated data, and politics at the FDA: Project Veritas’ second Covid-19 vaccination video seems like a comedy but ultimately isn’t very funny. In the video, FDA economist Taylor Lee calls for vaccinating black people with "blow darts" so many times you’ll wonder if he is he joking or not. When the Project Veritas undercover news hound suggests that blow darts might remind black folks of slaves being rounded up in Africa, Lee suggests blow-darting white people first so that black folks can’t claim "racism."
Lee, in what appears to be several meetings with the undercover journalist, also suggests handling non-vaccinated people in Nazi-like ways, including identifying the unvaxxed "like, with a Jewish star" and going door-to-door to force vaccinations.
Lee suggests that educated white people are down with the vax. He thinks uneducated white people, "like in Alabama," and black folks should be forced, or even tricked, into getting the jab.
Lee goes on say that the FDA, with the exception of their scientists, is polluted with politics. Even worse, he discusses how data can be manipulated.
The real punchline is when Lee, presumably an "educated white person," tells the undercover journalist, "If you’re an undercover journalist, you can’t quote me."

[OneIndia] Moslems in India still have the highest fertility rate among major religious groups, followed by Hindus, while Jains have the lowest fertility rate, a nonpartisan American think tank said in a report on Tuesday, according to which every religious group in the country has seen its fertility fall.
In the latest report on the religious composition of India, Pew Research Center said that among Indian Moslems, the total fertility rate has declined dramatically, from 4.4 children per woman in 1992 to 2.6 children in 2015.
And probably even lower since then, at barely above replacement.
"Every religious group in the country has seen its fertility fall, including the majority Hindu population and Moslem, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist and Jain minority groups," it said. "Moslems still have the highest fertility rate among India's major religious groups, followed by Hindus at 2.1. Jains have the lowest fertility rate (1.2). The general pattern is largely the same as it was in 1992, when Moslems had the highest fertility rate at 4.4, followed by Hindus at 3.3. But the gaps in childbearing between India's religious groups are generally much smaller than they used to be," said the report.
For example, while Moslem women were expected to have an average of 1.1 more children than Hindu women in 1992, the gap had shrunk to 0.5 by 2015, said the report.
"What do these trends mean for India's religious composition? India's Moslem population has grown somewhat faster than other religious groups because of fertility differences. But due in part to declining and converging fertility patterns, there have been only modest changes in the overall religious makeup of the population since 1951, when India conducted its first census as an independent nation," Pew said.
Hindus, it said, made up 79.8 per cent of India's 1.2 billion total inhabitants in the most recent census, conducted in 2011. That is 0.7 percentage points less than in the previous census in 2001, and 4.3 points below the 84.1% recorded in 1951.
Meanwhile, ...back at the game, the Babe was wondering why the baseball kept getting bigger and bigger. Finally it hit him... the share of Moslems grew from 13.4 per cent in 2001 to 14.2 per cent in 2011 - up by a total of 4.4 percentage points since 1951, when the census found that Moslems comprised 9.8 per cent of India's population.
Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists and Jains, who together make up nearly all of the remaining 6 per cent of the population, were relatively stable in their shares since the 1951 census, it said.
Statistical analysis of census and survey data shows that fertility has been by far the biggest driver of the modest amount of religious change in the decades since Partition, it added.
According to Pew, in India and elsewhere, education is a primary factor in how many children women tend to have. Other prosperity indicators - such as life expectancy and average levels of wealth - also frequently correlate with fertility measures: Women who have better access to schooling, jobs and health care tend to have fewer children, it said.
"Population growth is driven not only by how many children women have but also by the concentration of women of childbearing age. Younger populations have more women entering their prime childbearing years and, as a result, tend to grow faster than older populations," it said.
"In addition, where people live within India, as well as their history and cultural norms (which are harder to measure), play a role in the choices they make about family matters. In short, people's religion alone does not determine how many children they will have. Religion is just part of a complicated picture," Pew said. PTI LKJ AMS AKJ RS
[C4ISRNET] WASHINGTON — Northrop Grumman said it successfully demonstrated interoperability during a recent test of a new electronic warfare system meant for F-16s.
During the Northern Lightning Air Force exercise, which took place in August at Volk Field Air National Guard Base, aboard a Canadair Regional Jet, the company says it tested using the APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar, which the company is providing to the Air Force, and what it is calling the Next Generation Electronic Warfare System, an ultrawideband system that detects the radio frequency environment to decide which signals to jam.
Company officials said it’s critical both aircraft subsystems — the active electronically scanned array radar, which is nearly identical to those aboard F-35s and F-22s, and the EW system — can perform their roles without interfering or degrading each other.
"You needed it to be interoperable with the other subsystems and one of those other key subsystems is the advanced AESA. Because you don’t want electronic warfare to have a negative impact on AESA, you don’t want AESA to have a negative impact on electronic warfare," James Conroy, Northrop’s vice president for navigation, targeting and survivability, told C4ISRNET. The EW system is "a survivability function. AESAs aren’t typically only doing survivability, they’re doing other situational awareness as well as targeting capabilities. You have subsystems that are doing different functions, and you need both those functions to be able to operate simultaneously."

[DefenceBlog] A new 120mm smoothbore gun, created by German defense company Rheinmetall, has entered production at the company’s Unterluss facility.
According to a Sep. 21 news release from the British Army, two Rheinmetall 120mm smoothbore L55A1 weapons for testing and trialing, have entered production ahead of schedule.
The new smoothbore will use to upgrade to transform 148 Challenger 2 (CR2) Main Battle Tanks (MBT) into the new Challenger 3 (CR3) configuration.
Summer of 1984 I believe. I was walking the flight line at the old Ladd AFB, Fort Wainwright, Alaska one evening and saw a PBY parked there. I walked over for a closer look and the pilot climbed out. He asked me if I wanted to take a tour. He was a crusty old Texan who had flown them in WWII. It was outfitted with fire retardant chemical tanks. He had a three month BLM contract. He's had the contract for several years. He was sure proud of that old bird.
