[RedState] One Thread Brings the Receipts on Why Miami Beach Issued a State of Emergency, Demolishing the Media's Narrative.
The media didn’t wait for the facts when it came to the state of emergency issued by the city of Miami Beach, Florida. They would like you to believe it was a COVID-19 issue, with everyone from CNN to VOX slapping the big red panic button on the “DeSantis-presented” super spreader event.
It wasn’t that at all. The city issued curfews and issued a state of emergency because, as one Twitter thread thoroughly shows you, the young crowds had gotten so rowdy and violent that authorities had to shut it down. Why can’t the media just say that? As you’ll see, it’s because the crowd that was primarily causing the problems consisted mainly of black people, and the media isn’t allowed to say anything bad about primarily black crowds.
The Twitter user “Mommar” presented a rather lengthy thread that showed video evidence of what exactly was happening in Miami Beach that led to the issuance of the state of emergency and even gave some background and context on what happens in the city during these times.
For one, a big problem is restaurants getting trashed and people walking out on their very expensive tabs. Not only is the restaurant having to foot the bill for the food, but they’re also having to pay for any damages these crowds inflict on the establishment. One restaurant was hit with this kind of chaos two nights in a row.
As Mommar notes, fights, destruction, and walking out on tabs are very common. So is the traffic-halting mid-street twerk. In one video, you witness two waiters literally chasing down a guy who attempted to bail on his tab as women block the intersection so they can twerk.
These fights even occur in airports as Mommar points out. What’s more, the fights go from regular brawls to deadly occurrences.
Mommar then breaks down what’s really happening vs. what the media is trying to sell you. As they try to make this a DeSantis/COVID problem, the Twitter user points out that it’s Miami Beach’s Mayor Dan Gelber who spent almost no time preparing for the regular occurrences of fights and destruction, and instead used a lot of his time complaining about DeSantis.
“What you see here are 2 things,” Mommar tweeted. “1) over politicization of police work. The NAACP called Miami Beach PD racists last year and this is what happens when you don’t let the police do their jobs. 2nd and more importantly complete lack of foresight & planning by elected officials like {Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber] & company. He spent more time this past year on CNN complaining about DeSantis than taking care of his own house. Cities get the leaders they deserve. Miami deserves better.”
It seems the media isn’t just refusing to cover what’s really going on in Miami Beach, it’s terrified to do so. Saying anything negative about black people will automatically get you canceled. It’s much more narrative safe (and useful) to make it about your political enemies using a highly talked about issue like COVID.
Young people get rowdy when they’re having fun, no matter what color they are, but this crowd happens to be black and so it’s radio silence. That’s just one reason that explains why the media is talking about it.
The other is that doing so would mean actually looking into why the city wasn’t able to handle the crowds and that would likely lead to a Democrat politician being exposed as a failure. Police seem afraid to do their jobs, and that’s on top of the fact that Miami Beach politicians are equipping them with the tools to do it. In the end, Gelber is to blame for his inability or unwillingness to do what needs to be done to keep the city safe.
[DW] "We are in a new pandemic" due to the spread of coronavirus variants, Chancellor Angela Merkel has said. German federal and state leaders have agreed on a radical shutdown over the Easter holidays.
Germany is extending the current lockdown through to April 18, Chancellor Angela Merkel announced early Tuesday.
The country will enter an even stricter lockdown from April 1 to April 5 over the Easter holiday period, when shops, including grocery stores, will largely have to close.
Merkel warned that Germany needed to "break the exponential growth of the third wave." Case numbers have reached levels that authorities say will overburden intensive care units.
Tuesday's announcement marks a reversal from earlier this month when state leaders agreed to begin a cautious reopening process.
Talks between leaders of Germany's 16 federal states and Merkel lasted until the early hours of the morning following a lengthy interruption.
[Washington Examiner] Retail giant Amazon is reportedly requiring its delivery drivers to sign a "biometric consent" form, which gives the company the ability to collect facial data, and if they refuse, they could lose their jobs.
"Amazon may ... use certain Technology that processes Biometric Information, including on-board safety camera technology which collects your photograph for the purposes of confirming your identity and connecting you to your driver account," the form, which was obtained by Vice, read. "Using your photograph, this Technology may create Biometric Information, and collect, store, and use Biometric Information from such photographs."
The technology "tracks vehicle location and movement, including miles driven, speed, acceleration, braking, turns, and following distance," the agreement said, adding that "as a condition of delivery packages for Amazon, you consent to the use of Technology."
AMAZON INSTALLING CAMERAS IN SOME WAREHOUSES TO ENSURE SOCIAL DISTANCING AMONG WORKERS
In February, Amazon, which employs 75,000 drivers, installed cameras, which were powered by AI, in all of its delivery vehicles. The lens would catch workers yawning, not wearing their seat belt, or dozing off, and the system would issue "automated verbal alerts" to correct the behavior.
A delivery driver earlier in the week called the process both a "privacy violation and a breach of trust" when he quit the company over the cameras.
An owner of an Amazon delivery facility told Vice that one of his drivers refused to sign the consent form.

Just to point out those Amazon delivery vans are independent contractors so this might not be the case system wide. Fed Ex does the same, if you look at the local delivery vans you will often see something like operated by ABC Cartage or something . I noticed UPS has some vans with things on the roof that look like some sort of sensor. So this type of stuff might become a bit of industry norm.
About those social distancing cameras they are set up at choke points in the warehouse. When you walk by there is a green circle around you . If another person gets two close the circle changes yellow if you are getting too close then red. Haven't heard anyone getting in trouble over them. I got to man the thermal camera at the entrance one day, I soon realized the real best job in their social distancing team is monitoring the break room where at least you can watch the TV, The social distancing team members also seem like they have mellowed out from the peak pandemic panic time last year.

The Daily Caller, if I recall correctly, is not fond of the right side of American culture and politics. Which makes me wonder how badly they are slanting this story.
[DailyCaller] Lawyer Sidney Powell is claiming that reasonable people would not have believed her allegations of voter fraud and has moved to dismiss a lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems.
Powell, a lawyer who assisted former President Donald Trump in his efforts to overturn the Nov. 3 election results, previously claimed there was evidence that Dominion had rigged the election in favor of President Joe Biden. Powell is now claiming that "reasonable people would not," have accepted "such statements."
Why would we disbelieve her? She was a high flying lawyer. Why would she lie in public and repeatedly about something so important?
In retaliation against Powell’s claims of election rigging, Dominion slapped her with a $1.3 billion lawsuit for libel. Additionally, the city of Detroit requested that Powell be disbarred and fined over her efforts to contest the election.
"Reasonable people understand that the "language of the political arena, like the language used in labor disputes... is often vituperative, abusive and inexact," court documents for Powell read. "It is likewise a ’well recognized principle that political statements are inherently prone to exaggeration and hyperbole.'"
Sidney Powell is claiming under oath in court that no reasonable person could have believed her claims about Dominion Voting Systems because they were so outlandish. But some of you did. https://t.co/NMGYGTbi36
Fox News Host Tucker Carlson previously extended an opportunity for Powell to appear on his show to provide evidence that the voting machines from Dominion took millions of votes from Trump and gave them to Biden instead. However, Powell refused to provide any evidence to support her allegations. (RELATED: Dominion Voting Systems Reportedly Sends Letter To Sidney Powell Demanding She Retract ’False Accusations’)
Following the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol Building, Powell along with former national security advisor Gen. Michael Flynn found themselves permanently banned from Twitter.
[ENGLISH.AAWSAT] Egyptian politicians have sought to expedite legislative measures to criminalize child marriage and tighten penalties to deter violators.
MP Enas Abdel Halim said she finished preparing a bill to amend some provisions of the Penal Code to increase the punishment for underage marriage.
The bill, which she will submit to parliament, sets the appropriate age for girls to marry. She added that the constitution criminalizes marriage of girls under the age of 18.
Even though the marriage of minors violates the constitution, laws and international treaties, there is no punishment for those who are married to minors or facilitated such a union, she remarked.
Therefore, "the proposed amendments includes imposing stricter penalties for this act to limit and address the phenomenon, which threatens national security."
Earlier this week, President Abdul Fattah al-Sissi vowed to speed up efforts to bar child marriage in the country.
During an event marking Mother’s Day on Sunday, he warned of the growing phenomenon and stressed that girls under 12 should not be expected to be responsible for household chores and raising a family.
The parliament must urgently take the necessary measures to pass the child marriage restraint bill as a separate law that stipulates explicitly the legal age of marriage, he stressed.
Sisi cited data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) that revealed that many girls have been married by the age of 12.
According to the Agency’s 2019 statistics on early marriage, 117,220 Egyptians were married under the age of 18.

The smell of weakness...and incontinence
[10 News] The White House says North Korea fired short-range missiles this past weekend, just days after the sister of Kim Jong Un threatened the United States and South Korea for holding joint military exercises.
The missile tests, which were confirmed by two senior Biden administration officials who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity, also come as North Korea has ignored offers from the new administration to resume negotiations. The officials downplayed the significance of the missile tests, and said the Biden administration remains committed to resuming talks with North Korea.
"Our objective is always going to be focused on diplomacy and denuclearization in North Korea," White House press secretary Jen Psaki said last week.

[DW] Australia has designated the right-wing extremist group Sonnenkrieg Division as a terrorist organization. The ruling allows authorities to imprison members of the UK-based neo-Nazi group.
The Britain-based neo-Nazi outfit Sonnenkrieg Division (SKD) became the first far-right organization to be listed as a terror group in Australia on Monday.
SKD joined a list of 27 proscribed organizations, which had so far been exclusively jihadist or separatist groups. More at the link
[MAIL] The first test of a project backed to spray millions of tonnes of chalk into the stratosphere, in an attempt to 'dim the sun' and cool the Earth, could happen in June.
Harvard University experts will test the system by sending a large balloon 12 miles above the Swedish town of Kiruna and have it drop 2kg of chalk dust into the stratosphere. 4.4 lbs
The aim of the estimated $3 million mission, backed by billionaire Bill Gates, is to have the chalk deflect a portion of the sun's radiation, stop it from hitting the surface, and cool the planet.
The idea has been heavily criticised since its inception, with project director Frank Keutsch even calling the need for this scale of geo-engineering 'terrifying'.
And experts have warned that the unusual technique could be disastrous for weather systems in ways nobody can predict.
Backed by a range of private donors including Gates, the test mission is launching from Sweden as they could offer a launch by the end of this summer.

I read a book once called 'Rings of Ice' as i recall the story was that scientists roped in an ice asteroid and broke it up in orbit around the earth with the goal of focusing more sunlight on the earth (this was during the 'Global Cooling' of the 70's - 80's).
Didn't work out well when the ice melted, fell to earth and triggered flooding. The people who were left ended up eating moss.

I remember reading Clancy's Rainbow Six and thinking the environmentalist baddies intent on world destruction were an unlikely concept. Now Thanos is doing the same thing and nobody really mentions it.
If all of our unionized teachers
Would clap their erasers, and preachers
Eat vegan and wiccan
Instead of fried chicken
While children crunch eight-leggéd creatures...
Well, little will change,
Which, sez Science, is strange,
But to Bill these are wonderful features!
