[FOX] A California highway crash involving human smugglers and 25 illegal immigrants jammed into a single SUV left over a dozen dead Tuesday, a Border Patrol source tells Fox News.
The wreck involved an overloaded Ford Expedition, which normally seats eight, and a semi-truck near the U.S.-Mexico border, the source says. Officials noted that the SUV's back seats had been removed to create more space for passengers.
The crash occurred in Holtville, a town about 125 miles outside of San Diego, according to Fox 11 Los Angeles. Source of excellent carne asada
California Highway Patrol officers found 12 people dead on scene, while another person died at a local hospital. Meanwhile, the remaining eight victims with injuries were transported to different local hospitals.
[Examiner via Right Scoop] RFormer President Donald Trump and former first lady Melania Trump received both doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to an adviser.
News that the Trumps have already been vaccinated broke on Monday, a day after the former president gave his first public address since leaving the presidency on Jan. 20. Trump spoke at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida, where he encouraged "everybody" to get the vaccine.
The couple received their first doses in January when they were still in the White House, an adviser told the Washington Examiner. The couple has since been given their second inoculations, according to the Hill.
[Stars & Stripes] Air Force wrench turners will be allowed to wear shorts to beat the heat at work under to an impending rule change.
Starting March 15, commanders can authorize maintainers to wear navy-blue shorts instead of Airman Battle Uniform or Operational Camouflage Pattern trousers in maintenance areas when temperatures are forecast to meet or exceed 80 degrees Fahrenheit, according to an Air Force statement Tuesday.
"Authorized areas will include the flight line, hangars and dock areas outside of climate-controlled areas," the statement said.
If a commander OKs shorts, they’ll be worn with a coyote brown T-shirt and uniform green or coyote brown socks with boots.
Some stateside installations such as Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, Luke Air Force Base in Arizona and Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida rolled out shorts for maintainers two summers ago. Kadena Air Base on Okinawa has allowed members of the 18th Maintenance Group to wear them since early last year.
Four out of five maintainers will opt for shorts on hot days once they have the option, predicted Tech. Sgt. Jerry Sysourath, a C-130 maintainer at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz.

I saw the news clip last night on the local CBS channel. This is the bestest part of the story about Texas real estate sales.
[Yahoo News] BROOKE KATZ [CBS]: She recently attracted the attention of actor Kirk Cameron who, in a Facebook post, said he too is considering moving to Texas, where taxes are lower, patriotism is higher, and biblical values are celebrated.
MARIE BAILEY [RE agent]: There is a huge misconception that Californians are here to turn Texas blue.
BROOKE KATZ: Bailey says the buyers she works with are overwhelmingly conservative.
LUIS TORRES [expert]: Don't forget, people will vote with their feet, and they're voting for taxes.
BROOKE KATZ: Research economist Dr. Luis Torres says our state's business-friendly reputation draws tens of thousands of people every year. But many agents say 2020 brought even more buyers hoping to escape their state's COVID restrictions. Tuesday, the Gov announced lifting all restrictions as of March 10.
KATHERINE MEYERS [agent]: I have people that have contacted me from California, Illinois, New York to help them find homes here.
MARIE BAILEY [agent]: They know what they are coming from and they are thrilled. I am too, as long as they are "overwhelmingly conservative".

"Also, I am ending the state-wide mask mandate." Hat tip to Mrs. Bobby, who called the Gov "an idiot".
Texas and Mississippi lift mask mandates and say all businesses can open at 100% capacity, as health officials warn not to ease restrictions
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday that the statewide mask mandate imposed eight months ago will be lifted on March 10, making Texas the largest state in the US to lift its mask mandate amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Texas businesses will also be able to operate at 100% capacity, including bars and restaurants. Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves made a similar announcement following the one from Abbott. The CDC and health officials still advise that people wear a mask and avoid crowds to reduce transmission of the virus.

After the massive damage caused by extreme cold, the governor is wisely removing all restrictions so Texas can rebuild asap.

Restrictions are lifted only if hospitalizations remain at manageable levels. Mask and other requirements may still be imposed by private businesses if they choose. I wonder if other states (like NY or CA) will impose restrictions on travelers coming from or through Texas?
Good news is, it isn't an order to remove masks, and masks work right?
I do appreciate the humor of everyone going after Abbott for opening in 10 days, when The Magnolia State is open for business today and is shit-catching free.

FOX NEWS could not have screwed the pooch worse with its DC COUP support and ANTI-TRUMP Election period focused reporting.
It is no wonder why the Fox News Jan. 2021, TV viewer numbers were down 14% from a year ago.
At this rate the bean counters at FOX NEWS will pretty soon need to decide; if they will cut staff, sell off holdings, or return to their successful 25+ year truthful Conservative factual NEWS format.
[LIBYAREVIEW] On Tuesday, the General Electricity Company in Libya (GECOL) announced the theft of high-pressure wires in western Libya.
In a statement, the company announced that 1000 meters of copper wires in western Libya were stolen, causing the loss of supply to about three ground stations, a ready station, and ten antenna power transformers Who knew they had tweakers in Libya?
It added that a further 1,050 meters of copper wires were also stolen from the Ali al-Zuibi branch on the Majer line (1), from substation 220 in the central Zliten distribution department of the al-Murqub Distribution Department.
GECOL had previously announced the theft of 1,200 meters of copper wires last month. This resulted in a major blackout in the region.

[AlAhram] China's vaccine diplomacy campaign has been a surprising success: It has pledged roughly half a billion doses of its vaccine to more than 45 countries, according to a country-by-country tally by The News Agency that Dare Not be Named
The plane laden with vaccines had just rolled to a stop at Santiago's airport in late January, and Chile's president, Sebastian Pinera, was beaming. ’Today,’ he said, ’is a day of joy, emotion and hope’.
The source of that hope: China - a country that Chile and dozens of other nations are depending on to help rescue them from the COVID-19 pandemic.

by traditional measures, the core inflation is under 2%
gasoline is up a lot, also a big bump in electricity costs (because of the Texas situation)
but food, appliances, housing, insurance and so forth have been stable
there is a data problem however comparing prices in our present partially closed retail sector with prices in ordinary times, e.g., hospitality services are discounted heavily all over the USA and this is just one of the distortions

I saw a graph recently of housing prices and it looks worse than inflation, more like another bubble. When it bursts we'll get to bail out the 'too big to fail' banks again.
[AntiWar.com] On Monday, the Pentagon announced a $125 million military aid package for Ukraine. The $125 million package includes two armed Mark VI patrol boats, giving Ukraine a total of eight such vessels provided by the US.
The Pentagon said the package also includes "capabilities to enhance the lethality, command and control, and situational awareness of Ukraine’s forces." This means additional counter-artillery radars, other tactical equipment, continued support for satellite systems, and some medical equipment.
This package is the first part of the $275 million approved by Congress for Ukraine in the 2021 fiscal year. As per the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act, the additional $150 million is contingent on Ukraine reforming its military. The Pentagon said it will work with the State Department to certify "that Ukraine has made sufficient progress on key defense reforms this year."
Since the 2014 US-backed coup in Ukraine that sparked the war in the eastern Donbas region, the US has provided Kyiv with $2 billion in military aid. Despite the controversy around President Trump and aid to Ukraine, he took a step the Obama administration was not willing to take and sent Javelin anti-tank missiles to Kyiv.
Last week, President Biden released a statement on the seventh anniversary of Russia’s annexation of Crimea and said the US would "never" accept Russian sovereignty over the peninsula. He said the US "will stand with Ukraine against Russia’s aggressive acts."
Like the war in the Donbas, the annexation of Crimea was also sparked by the US-backed coup in Kyiv. The largely ethnic Russian populations of Crimea and Donbas rejected the nationalist post-coup government in Kyiv, and the majority of Crimeans favored joining Russia.
{PJ] Georgia legislators just got serious about fixing this nation’s voter fraud problem by passing a bill requiring ID to vote absentee. The Hill reported, We must be over the target.
The Georgia state Senate on Tuesday passed legislation that would require voters to submit a driver’s license number, state identification card number or a photocopy of an approved form of identification in order to vote absentee in the state.
Predictably, the passing of this bill sparked a protest by Democrats on Monday who don’t want anyone to know who is voting absentee. Voter ID laws mean less fraud, a thing no Democrat I’ve ever known wants. Instead, they pretend it’s "racist" to require IDs. They have no problem, however, requiring IDs to get into their conventions.

Actually met the man at my Liberty University 1996 Liberty University Graduation Commencement .
I can see why the LEFT wants to erase his success.
He is a Conservative Black-man that came from next to nothing. But thru hard work and a work ethic of "never let the sun catch you in bed." pulled himself up to the Highest Court in the USA.
[Dawn] The Lahore High Court on Monday granted post-arrest bail to a man facing trial on blasphemy ...the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to a deity, or sacred objects, or toward something considered sacred or inviolable. Some religions consider it to be a crime. In Pakistain you can commit blasphemy by looking cross-eyed at a Koran... charge for over four years.
The suspect was a juvenile when Phoolnagar Saddar police, Kasur district, arrested him in 2016 following an FIR registered under sections 295 and 295-A of Pakistain Penal Code against him on the complaint of one Akhtar Ali.
The PPC sections in the FIR deal with the offences of injuring or defiling a place of worship, with intent to insult the religion of any class and deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs.
The suspect’s counsel argued before the high court that his client had been languishing behind bars for the last four and a half years with no progress in the trial.
The counsel said the forensic report proved that the alleged blasphemous post in a WhatsApp group had not been generated by the petitioner, who is now 20-years old.
He argued the legal requirements for the registration of the FIR on the blasphemy charge including approval from the deputy commissioner (for filing a case), had not been fulfilled by the police.
The counsel said the complainant had been delaying the proceedings on one pretext or another while the prosecution had also not presented the evidence so far.
After hearing the arguments, the judge allowed the bail petition subject to furnishing bonds.

Princeton physicist Hong Qin creates an AI algorithm that can predict planetary orbits.
The scientist partially based his work on the hypothesis which believes reality is a simulation.
The algorithm is being adapted to predict behavior of plasma and can be used on other natural phenomena
If this interests you go to Big Think read their synopsis and if you want to dig deeper follow their link to the PDF for the Nature article.
Qin developed this algorithm to predict the orbits of planets in the solar system, training it on data of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, and Jupiter orbits. The data is "similar to what Kepler inherited from Tycho Brahe in 1601," as Qin writes in his newly-published paper on the subject. From this data, a "serving algorithm" can correctly predict other planetary orbits in the solar system, including parabolic and hyperbolic escaping orbits. What's remarkable, it can do so without having to be told about Newton's laws of motion and universal gravitation. It can figure those laws out for itself from the numbers.
Qin is now adapting the algorithm to predict and even control other behaviors, with a current focus on particles of plasma in facilities built for harvesting fusion energy powering the Sun and stars. Along with Eric Palmerduca, a Ph.D. graduate student at PPPL, Qin is using his technique "to learning an effective structure-preserving algorithm with long-term stability to simulate the gyrocenter dynamics in magnetic fusion plasmas," as he elaborated. He also plans to utilize the algorithm to study quantum physics.

The AI knows, but it’s not telling us how it knows, because it doesn’t know. We don’t either, because we just built a computing structure. We didn’t program it.

If I understand correctly, the writers of the article possibly just needed a catchy title. Hong just based his work on the premise that the universe may be running off a set of parameters that recur and can be thus predicted. Discrete Field Theory is not the position that the universe is a simulation, it just treats the universe as one to catch patterns in it.
But the academics must have been drawn to only the words 'reality is a simulation' because it covers so many of their own suppositions like 'gender is imaginary', 'history is relative uhh.. because time is relative?', etc.
#9
Great! Now we can blame this recent clusterf%$k iteration we live in as a simulation gone amok. I suggest Hon Qin look into leftist policies as the cause for this current debacle.

[NBCBayArea] Parents in Berkeley are turning up the heat on the president of the teacher’s union after a group of moms posted a video that they say shows hypocrisy of the union leader.
The video released by the so-called "Guerilla Momz" shows Federation of Teachers President Matt Meyer walking his two-year-old child to a private preschool.
Meyer confirmed to NBC Bay Area that he is shown in the video.
A representative from Guerilla Momz would not go on camera out of fear that teachers would retaliate against them and their children.
But Jonathan Zachreson, with an affiliated group called Reopen California Schools, said this new tactic only reinforces how frustrated parents are with delays in returning to class.
"It’s really a message of hypocrisy where we see this union representative saying it’s not safe to go back, yet he feels safe enough to take his daughter to an in-person institution," said Zachreson.
Meyer also turned down repeated requests for an interview.
In an exchange of emails he said this was a non-issue. He wrote, in part, "Unfortunately there are no public options for kids her age. There are major differences in running a small preschool and a 10,000 person public school district in terms of size, facilities, public health guidance and services that legally have to be provided."
Berkeley parent Mara Kolesas is also pushing for schools to open faster. She’s been critical of some of Meyer’s recent comments about the delayed timeline of in-person instruction.
"There are doctors speaking up, epidemiologists, heads of UCSF, the letters have been published," Kolesas said. "It is safe to go back to school full-time following protocols when you have masks and vaccines."
But she disagrees with the tactics Guerilla Momz are using in this situation.
"I think that harassing someone in their private life is not the way I roll," she said.
The Berkeley Unified School District announced a plan for the youngest students to return to in-class learning through a hybrid model beginning March 29.
Older students will be phased in after that.
A big part of the plan involves getting the teachers vaccinated.
