[NYP] Here’s a real kick in the shin: chances are accused 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed will get the COVID vaccine before you do.
Accused terror masterminds like KSM and other detainees at Guantanamo Bay will begin receiving the coronavirus vaccine, the Pentagon confirmed Friday, even as the United States continues to experience severe shortages of the miracle jab.
A spokesman for the Department of Defense confirmed that officials had signed an order which will see COVID-19 vaccinations "offered to all detainees and prisoners."

If you have a Retired military card; or better yet some form of tricare; you are eligible to get it from the military. See if you have a MTF nearby.
[Breitbart] A spokesman for the Pentagon said Thursday that the Taliban was jeopardizing the peace process with the United States by failing to live up to its promise to cut ties with terrorist groups like al-Qaeda and cease its attacks on Afghan forces.
American officials began a new round of talks with the Taliban in Doha, Qatar, in September that resulted in an agreement Trump administration officials hoped would help result in a final exit of American troops from Afghanistan. The top concerns of American negotiators were to convince the Taliban to stop cooperating with terrorist groups that seek to kill Americans, like al-Qaeda, and to encourage Taliban officials to use political means, and not attacking U.S. troops, to amass political power.
The Taliban demanded an end to the Afghan government — the Taliban considers itself the only legitimate government of Afghanistan — and the imposition of a Sunni jihadist caliphate in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is already an Islamic republic, governed in part by sharia, or Islamic law.
While American officials did not agree to that demand, the Taliban did succeed in getting the Afghan government to agree to free hundreds of Taliban jihadis from prison, moving the talks forward. Afghanistan documented a dramatic decline in civilian casualties in 2020, according to the United Nations, in part fueled by diminished Taliban attacks on Americans and civilians, and increased attacks on Afghan security forces.
American forces were scheduled to depart Afghanistan completely by May 2021 in the event that the Taliban followed through on its promises.
The Pentagon’s warning that the Taliban have, in addition to continuing to attack Afghan forces, also maintained ties to terrorist groups like al-Qaeda could fray the already delicate diplomatic situation.
"We are still involved in trying to get a negotiated settlement. The Taliban have not met their commitments," John Kirby, a spokesman for the Pentagon, said Thursday, according to Afghanistan’s Khaama News. "Without them meeting their commitments to renounce terrorism and to stop the violent attacks on the Afghan national security forces, and by dint of that the Afghan people, it’s very hard to see a specific way forward for the negotiated settlement."

I am certain they (Paki Frontier Corps) have been complicit with the Taliban along the Durand Line in the vicinity of Chaman (50-75 k's North and South). Elsewhere, I am not qualified to comment.
[ToloNews] Afghan security agencies, including the National Security Council (NSC), on Friday said Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... violence has "increased" after they signed the peace deal with the United States last year in February and the group has maintained ties with al-Qaeda.
Of course they have.
According to the ministries of Defense and Interior Affairs, the Taliban has increased their attacks in the shape of planning car kabooms on military installations, roadside kabooms, magnetic IED explosions, assassinations of the security forces and babus government employees, including attacks on the journalists and civil society activists in various parts of the country. The security agencies did not provide figures on the number of Taliban attacks during this period.
The NSC front man Rahmatullah Andar said that 11 al-Qaeda members were arrested recently by Afghan forces and that "they were operating in the ranks of the Taliban."
"Three of those arrested are key members of the network," Andar said.
Afghan politicians said that assassinations and violence have increased in the country after the Doha agreement.
"The Taliban has not met their commitments to the United States. Even if there is no pressure on them in the future, the Taliban will not abide by any commitment and they will instead stress on their own demands," said Sayed Zahir Masroor, an MP.
A former Taliban member said that violence will cease when there is an agreement on an Islamic government.
"The peace negotiations are underway. The Taliban has said they will cease violence, or agree on a ceasefire, but all these are possible when there is an Islamic system," said Sayed Akbar Agha, a former Taliban commander.
[ToloNews] A key negotiator of the Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... on Friday said that President Ashraf Ghani ...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money... ’s government in Kabul is the "only hurdle" for the Afghan grinding of the peace processor, blaming President Ghani for prolonging the process and not willing to hand power to another government for the sake of peace. "Only hurdle...besides our proclivity for Islamic Evil"
Addressing news hounds in Moscow, Stanekzai, whose presser was aired by Sputnik, said the Taliban should not be expected to lay down their arms as long as the international troops remain in the country.
"You witnessed that Mr. Ashraf Ghani made different statements... Even in one of his statements, he said that if a future government is established, he should be the leader, the president," Stanekzai said. "You can see that they are lobbying NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis.... and the US to prolong their government."
"Ashraf Ghani’s administration is the only hurled for peace... One of their insincerity is that their (Afghan Republic’s negotiating) team has not been given full authority for talks," Stanekzai added, reiterating that the Taliban’s negotiating team has the authority to make decagons on the table of negotiations about peace-related matters.
In response to their trip to Moscow as well as to other countries in the region, Stanekzai said their aim is to use the regional countries’ leverage on the Biden administration to push for the implementation of the US-Taliban agreement—signed in Doha on February 29, 2020.
"We hope so because these countries are very close to us, they are our neighbors, they are involved in Afghan matters. That’s why we’re talking to them, we share their concern and we seek their support for the grinding of the peace processor in Afghanistan," he said.
Regarding an increase in assassinations in Kabul, Stanekzai said that the government in Kabul is responsible for the security and that the "operations that take place in Kabul, especially the assassinations."
Stanekzai said that the Taliban remains committed to the implementation of the US-Taliban agreement and that their team is in contact with the United States team "regularly" in this respect.
"The reviewing of the agreement is their internal matter... We hope that Americans should go according to this peace treaty which was signed in Doha. It’s a good chance for Americans... it is in their favor," he said.
This comes a day after the Pentagon said Thursday that the Biden administration would not commit to a full drawdown of US troops from Afghanistan by May because the Taliban have not honored the commitments they made in their agreement with the United States signed in Doha last year in February.

[MSN] Two pipe bombs near the Democratic and Republican party headquarters discovered on January 6 were planted the night before the insurrection at the Capitol,
...that phrase should be in scare quotes...
the FBI said Friday.
Federal authorities again increased the reward for information about the pipe bomber and released new details and photos of a suspect on Friday, underscoring the urgency the Justice Department is treating this angle of the investigation, which remains one of the most troubling mysteries for law enforcement.
A new wanted poster says the bombs were placed between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. on January 5, the night before the insurrection.
So that part of the event wasn't spontaneous. Given that we have video cams just about everywhere right now, you'd like to think that there is video. But this is the FBI and DoJ we're talking about...
The FBI also identified the suspect's shoes as Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes in yellow, black, and gray, and included enhanced photos of them, along with photos of the devices.
CNN ...formerly the Cable News Network, now who know what it might stand for... was first to report Wednesday that the bombs were eight inches long and made of galvanized steel, according to a law enforcement official. They had been rigged to egg timers and filled with an explosive powder, the official said. Investigators have been scrutinizing the remains of the devices at the FBI lab in Virginia and urging the public to submit information, concerned that the bomber could still be at work.
The bombs were discovered within minutes of each other around 1 p.m. ET on January 6, just around the time that a mob of angry supporters of President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... descended on the building after a nearby rally with the President, according to an account the acting chief of the US Capitol gave to politicians Tuesday and the FBI poster.
Officers from the ATF, FBI, US Capitol Police and DC Metropolitan Police had responded to the scene at the two offices, which are less than a quarter mile apart and just blocks south of the Capitol, and the bombs were safely detonated at the scene by robots.
Investigators are considering the possibility that the devices were part of a plan to divert law enforcement resources away from the Capitol as rioters began to force their way in. The devices were placed out in the open.

[Guardian] Pakistan’s government has appealed to the supreme court to review its decision to free a British-born Islamist and three others convicted of beheading the American journalist Daniel Pearl, a day after the US expressed “deep concerns” over the ruling.
By any chance did we threaten their boodle?
A panel of three judges of the court on Thursday acquitted Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh
...also in our archives as Ahmad Saeed Omar Sheikh and Ahmed Omar Sheikh. He’s the Pakistani-Brit who has thus far spent eighteen years in various Pak government safe houses successfully avoiding either being hanged or transferred to the U.S. for his not-minor role in Israeli-American Daniel Pearl’s heinous murder, a restful change after his eventful youth. A brilliant but violent lad, the jihadi crowd at the London School of Economics funneled him to the jihadis in Bosnia — reportedly on orders from MI-6. After a break to run Al Qaeda’s Afghan training camps, India jailed him in 1994 for kidnapping Western tourists in Kashmir for Pakistan’s ISI. He and two senior Harkat-ul-Mujahideen emirs were traded for the passengers and crew of a hijacked Indian Airlines plane in 1999, after which he wandered down to Karachi to hang with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s (KSM) gang. This may yet turn out to have been a fatal error...
and three other Islamists,
... Fahad Naseem, Sheikh Adil, and Salman Saqib, about whom little seems to be known. Saud Memon, accused of providing the place where Pearl was held before his death, died mysteriously in 2007, while Qari Hashim Ali was freed in 2014 when the court ruled there was not enough evidence to hold him....
who had been convicted in 2002 on charges of kidnapping and murder of the Wall Street Journal reporter. The court ordered the men to be released immediately if not required in any other case.
The government in southern Sindh province filed a petition asking the top court to review its decision, said the Pearl family’s lawyer, Faisal Siddiqi, and a government prosecutor.
“We have filed three review petitions,” said the prosecutor, Faiz Shah, explaining that the petitions would seek a reversal of the acquittal and the reinstatement of Sheikh’s death penalty.
“Being aggrieved of and dissatisfied with the judgment, the petitioner files an instant criminal review petition for leave to appeal on matters of law, facts and grounds,” the petition read.
The release orders would stand irrespective of the review petition, said the provincial law minister, Murtaza Wahab.
“We haven’t received the release orders yet,” he said, adding that the Islamists were not likely to be freed over the weekend, as it usually takes some days for court orders to be sent to prison authorities.
Pearl, 38, was investigating Islamist militants in Karachi after the September 11 attacks on the US when he was kidnapped. A video of his beheading emerged weeks later.
Donald Trump’s ripples continue to spread. The benefits are clear for all to see, even weighing President Biden’s displeasure on the other side of the scales.
[Jpost] Israel and Kosovo will establish mutual diplomatic relations on Monday, Kosovo's Minister of Foreign Relations Meliza Haradinaj-Stublla wrote on her official website. The signature will be done in a virtual event attended by Foreign Affair Minister Gaby Ashkenazi.
Haradinaj-Stubla thanked the US and called Israel's recognition of the Balkan state "one of the greatest achievements of the Republic of Kosovo."
In a video posted on social media, Haradinaj-Stubla describes how Jews found help among the Albanians during the Second World War. While some Albanians turned Jews to the Nazis during the German occupation of Albania, this is largely true. Many Albanians protected Jews due to the custom of 'Besa' [Pledge] which protects guests from harm. Albania was one of the few lands in Europe to see an increase in the number of Jews due to a surge of refugees who sought to escape to that land.
The minister presented Israel as returning the good will by supporting Kosovo's cause of independence.
Kosovo assured Israel it means to open an embassy in Jerusalem. If this happens, Kosovo will be the first Muslim country to open its embassy in the Israeli capital. To date, only the US and Guatemala have embassies in Jerusalem. Most countries have chosen to place their embassies in the Tel Aviv area.

Same players all around, from Susan Rice all the way down. Anxiously awaiting John Brennan and Jim Comey's new appointments. They should be coming any day now.
[AlAhram] Acting Secretary David Pekoske would extend Temporary Protected Status for 6,700 eligible Syrians through September 2022 and allow an additional 1,800 people to file initial applications
How many of them have been connected to any of the jihadi groups back home or elsewhere?
The administration of President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden ...Candidate for president in 2020. You're a lyin' dog-faced pony soldier... on Friday extended deportation relief for several thousand Syrian immigrants colonists living in the United States, an early move that aligns with his broader pro-immigrant platform.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced that acting Secretary David Pekoske would extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 6,700 eligible Syrians through September 2022 and allow an additional 1,800 people to file initial applications.
Oboy. 8500 more potential jihadis for the FBI to keep track of. Well you wanted to get rid of The Donald, guys, so now you’ll get Obama’s Third Term Incarnate good and hard.
The program grants immigrants colonists who cannot return to their countries safely, for reasons like natural disasters or armed conflict, the ability to stay and work in the United States legally for a defined period that can be renewed.
Biden, a Democrat who took office on Jan. 20, has pledged to embrace a more welcoming approach to refugees and immigrants colonists. The stance contrasts with the hardline policies of former Republican President Donald Trump ...Perhaps no man has ever had as much fun being president of the US... , who rolled back many humanitarian protections.
Trump largely sought to phase out enrollment in the TPS program for immigrants colonists from Central American and other countries but was stymied by legal challenges.
Activist judges gotta active, donchaknow.
Despite his tough stance, his administration twice extended protections for Syrians due to ongoing armed conflict and limited access to medical care in the country. Trump, however, did not allow new applicants into the program.
With Biden's designation, additional Syrians in the United States can now seek protection under TPS. The move fits with his broader plans to expand protections under the program.
Biden also pledged to grant TPS to immigrants colonists from Venezuela ...a country in Central America that sits on an enormous pool of oil. Formerly the most prospereous country in the region, it became infested with Commies sniffing almost unlimited wealth. It turned out the wealth wasn't unlimited, the economy collapsed under the clownish Hugo Chavez, the murder rate exceeded places like Honduras and El Salvador. A significant proportion of the populace refugeed to Colombia and points south... due to the economic conditions in that country, although Trump had pre-empted that move by providing the protections through a similar program before he left office.
Additionally, the Biden transition team discussed the possibility of designating Guatemala and Honduras for the program, which could open protections to over a million people.

because lately it seems anyone with, $$$$ and enough political savvy can nominated someone or a Fringe group. Winning it seems lately is based on "special status", "Privilege Shame" and the PC issue of the year. More than actually earning it by making peace.
Interesting to note:
There is 50 year secrecy rule imposed.
"The Committee does not itself announce the names of nominees, neither to the media nor to the candidates themselves." So if certain names pop up in the media in advance it is likely $$$$ funded PR campaign not the actual Nobel Committee. Also the Nobel Committee’s nomination database is not made public until after fifty years."
