The Secret Service can confirm there has been an officer involved shooting at 17th Street and Pennsylvania Ave. Law enforcement officials are on the scene. More information to follow.
The Secret Service provided details of the shooting in a tweet late Monday. A 51-year-old male allegedly approached a Uniformed Division officer who was standing at his post on the corner of 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue near the White House. The man told the agent he had a weapon and, while he approached, took off in a sprint and "in a drawing motion, withdrew an object from his clothing," the statement read.
"The suspect then crouched into a shooter’s stance as if about to fire a weapon," the statement read. At that point, the agent fired his weapon and struck the subject in the torso.
That intersection is right outside the White House grounds.
The Secret Service said in a tweet that a male subject and a USSS officer were both transported to a local hospital. "At no time during this incident was the White House complex breached or were any protectees in danger," the agency said, adding the investigation is ongoing.
A law enforcement source told Fox News it appears the wounds to the suspect in the officer-involved shooting are not fatal.
There was a brief, joint presser late Monday night with the Secret Service and the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department that stressed that the investigation was in its early stages. City police will play a supporting role.
No doubt the details will soon be revealed, but in the meantime the question, dear Reader, as always is: jihadi, Antifa, or nutter?

They each cover a lot of space. A movement of twenty miles one way or another wouldn't make much difference. So a movement of twenty miles one way or another needn't be considered an iron-clad tell.
And if you had a couple of them, you have to put them someplace and with their coverage, it hardly matters as long as they're both not in the exact center of the area to be defended. I'd wait for some leaked email or something as to what is expected, as opposed to the deployment suggested on the box.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) continued their attacks in southern Idlib on Monday, as their artillery and missile units heavily targeted the positions of the jihadist rebels in Jabal al-Zawiya.According to local reports, the Syrian Army, with help from Russian reconnaissance drones, launched a number of artillery shells and missiles towards the jihadist defenses around the town of al-Bara’a, which is located along the front-lines.
In the past few weeks, the Russian Air Force’s reconnaissance drones have increased their flights over the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate; this has coincided with the Syrian Army’s intensification of artillery and missiles strikes in the Jabal al-Zawiya region.
The Syrian Army also struck a number of sites inside the nearby al-Ghaab Plain, which has become one of the main targets for the military since the jihadist rebels of the Hurras al-Deen Group attempted to infiltrate their positions twice in the past two months.
On Sunday, Ottoman Turkish drones were seen circling the Syrian Arab Army’s positions in the Jabal al-Zawiya region and eastern part of Idlib; this was followed by shelling that was mostly conducted by the jihadist rebels in Ariha and other areas.

In a statement obtained by Sputnik, the sheikhs and notables of the al-Akidat Tribe addressed the circumstances into which the situation and matters had turned at this stage and the crimes of the "SDF gangs with US-Zionist support, which crossed all red lines."

The statement would say: "In response to the urgent desire of the Akidat sons to move and organize ranks to get rid of the American occupation and its tools , the elders and notables of the al-Akidat Tribe decided to form a political council for the tribe from the tribe’s notables and elders, whose task is to manage its affairs in coordination with the relevant authorities in the state and form the al-Akidat army."
