[RADIOSHABELLE] At least one al-Shabaab ...... the Islamic version of the old Somali warlord... turban has been killed following an Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... in an al-Shabaab stronghold area in Southern Somalia.
In a statement, U.S. Africa Command said in coordination with the Somali government, US military conducted an airstrike targeting an al-Shabaab terrorist near Jilib town.
The attack happened on Sunday, according to the statement.
"Al-Shabaab is an al-Qaeda affiliate seeking to further its jihadist agenda," said U.S. Army Maj. Gen. William Gayler, director of operations, U.S. Africa Command.
The military said the initial assessment concluded the airstrike killed one terrorist.
"Removal of even one terrorist makes the region and the U.S. safer. Continuous pressure on the network is necessary to prevent al-Shabaab from building a safe haven and exporting violence," Gen. William.
The statement further noted that "We currently assess no civilians were maimed or killed as a result of this airstrike."

[Jerusalem Post] Militants attacked a gas pipeline in Egypt’s northern Sinai Peninsula on Sunday night, reportedly aiming to disrupt gas flow between Israel and Egypt. Israeli authorities said gas supply between the countries remained unaffected.
The Islamic State’s Sinai Province affiliate claimed responsibility on Monday for the attack on the pipeline. Local sources told Paris-based AFP that the gas pipeline targeted was in fact a domestic supply line for a local power station.
In a statement, the Sinai affiliate said it had detonated a number of explosives next to a pipeline linking "the Jews" and "the apostate Egyptian government," and had caused damage to the pipeline.
The attack happened near the city of El-Arish, with initial reports claiming that the targeted pipeline was a line carrying gas from Israel’s Leviathan gas platform to Egypt. The partners operating the offshore platform stated that no damage had been caused to the EMG pipeline connecting the countries, and gas flow was continuing as usual.
Energy Minister Yuval Steinitz’s office stated on Sunday night that gas was continuing to flow from Israel to Egypt and it was working with relevant authorities to investigate the nature of the incident.
Reports on Monday morning stated that the pipeline that was hit by the attack was actually a domestic one that leads to a power station in El-Arish, which supplies electricity to homes and factories in the central Sinai, according to AFP.

The French news website, Intelligence Online, has revealed that Khalifa Haftar’s forces have signed a contract to acquire six Chinese CH-4 drones from the Royal Jordanian Air Force (RJAF).
Intelligence Online said in a report on Sunday that the Royal Jordanian Air Force has been looking to offload its drones for months and after examining several options, a number of contracts have been signed with eastern Libyan authorities over the past few weeks.
It added that Jordanian engineers dislike the drones because of their heavy maintenance requirements and limited capacity, saying these issues apparently do not concern the Libyans (Haftar's forces), who have a lot of assistance from Russian technicians.
No doubt.
The report added that Haftar had been receiving technical help from Russia and financial backing from the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile on last Friday, Intelligence Online said the UAE had provided Haftar's forces with 3000 tons of military equipment in a matter of two weeks.
Last December, the UN panel of experts’ report said Jordan, along with the UAE, was the main military supporter for Haftar, especially in his war on Tripoli. The UN report said Jordan had provided Haftar with armored vehicles used by Al-Kanyat militias in Tarhouna on the southern Tripoli frontlines.

Just doing what conquering Muslims sometimes do when facing the conquered. High praise for the courageous passengers who intervened.
[Jpost] Passengers aboard a metro train in Gay Paree stopped four Arab men from pursuing a Jewish man they were harassing over his faith, the victim said.
The incident late Saturday night unfolded as the train approached the Jaures station in northeast Gay Paree, the National Bureau for Vigilance Against Antisemitism, or BNVCA, reported Sunday.
The four men asked a Jewish man wearing a yarmulke for a cigarette, said the report based on the man’s testimony. When he said he didn’t have one, one of the men told him: "You Jews have enough money to buy some."
The Arab men then cornered the man against the wall of the train car, but he escaped. The men pursued him but were blocked by other passengers.

A border policeman was lightly hurt Monday after being hit with a Molotov cocktail, which went kaboom! into flames on him, as he tackled rioters in the West Bank city of Hebron.
The attack in the flashpoint city occurred amid an uptick in low-level violence across the West Bank, since the release last week of a US peace plan that Paleostinians reject as biased in favor of Israel.
The incident was caught on video, which showed the officer attempting to douse the flames as he and his comrades retreated from the scene.
Pictures and video also showed officers being pelted by stones hurled by rioters.
Channel 12 television reported that the policeman was lightly injured and did not require medical assistance.
The footage was filmed by a local resident.
Police said that Border Police were called to disperse dozens of Paleostinian rioters who were throwing stones in Hebron, the station reported.
Officers used riot dispersal means against the rioters during which the Molotov cocktail was thrown by a rioter at the policeman. The riot was dispersed, police said.

[Aljazeera] How drone technology became a multibillion-dollar industry. Plus, Putin's economic record and Xi's biggest test yet.
Unmanned ariel vehicles (UAVs), or drones, have come a long way since their introduction in the first Gulf War in 1991. At the time, they were used just for surveillance and intelligence gathering.
A decade later, a Predator drone fitted with a missile was used by the CIA in an attempt to kill Taliban leader Mullah Omar.
And almost 10 years on from that failed attempt, the assassination of Iran's Qassem Soleimani became the first time a senior military figure has been killed on foreign soil.
Drones mean troops do not have to deploy into hostile territory, therefore saving lives. Still, there have been many civilian casualties. Under former President Barack Obama, the number of drone attacks rose to 563 from 57 under George W Bush. More than 800 innocent civilians were killed in Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen.
The drone business is a growing industry. According to defence analysts Teal Group, spending on research, development and procurement is expected to rise to $14.3bn by 2029, up nearly 30 percent from $11.1bn this year.
The United States is by far the biggest spender on drones. In its 2018 budget, almost $7bn was set aside for research and development and buying drones.
Despite the US high spending on drone technology, much less expensive technology has been used to great effect. The US and Saudi Arabia blamed Iran for an attack on Aramco oilfields that wiped out half the country's oil production.
[NY Post] Iran's top court has confirmed a death sentence for a man convicted of spying for the CIA and trying to pass on information about the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.
Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili said Amir Rahimpour would be executed soon.
"Amir Rahimpour, who was a CIA spy and got big pay and tried to present part of Iran's nuclear information to the American service, had been tried and sentenced to death," Esmaili said.
In a separate case, two people working for a charity were sentenced to prison terms of 10 years for spying and five years for acting against national security on similar charges, Esmaili said, according to the semi-official Fars news agency.
Speaking at a press conference, Esmaili said the names of the two individuals working for a charity would not be released yet because their sentences had not been finalized.
He also did not provide information about their nationalities. Iran does not recognize dual nationality and the judiciary prosecutes dual citizens as Iranians.
Last summer, Tehran announced it had broken up a CIA spy ring of 17 people and that some had been sentenced to death. The CIA did not immediately comment on Esmaili's remarks. After Iran's announcement last summer, President Trump tweeted: "The Report of Iran capturing CIA spies is totally false. Zero truth."
In the past, Iran has sentenced alleged US and Israeli spies to death

Turkey is launching airstrikes at will against Syrian installations. Gotta wonder what those supposedly Russian-supplied state-of-the-art Syrian air defenses are doing. It's one thing to be outsmarted by Israelis, and quite another to be unable to down Turkish jets.
