[Human Events] When the Mueller Report was released on April 18th, most commentators focused on the "explosive" factual allegations. But other than the shocking revelation that the President once used an expletive in private, very few of those facts were novel; most were leaked long ago.
At the end of Volume II of the Mueller Report, however, there were 20 pages of genuinely new material.
There, the former FBI director turned Special Counsel Robert Mueller defended his "Application of Obstruction-Of-Justice Statutes To The President." These overlooked 20 pages were dedicated to defending Mueller’s interpretation of a single subsection of a single obstruction-of-justice statute: 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)(2).
That’s quite strange, but you know what’s stranger still?
In June 2018, Bill Barr, then in private practice at Kirkland & Ellis, wrote a detailed legal memorandum to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. This memo came to light in December, when Barr was nominated for Attorney General.
The subject was Mueller’s interpretation of the aforementioned 18 U.S.C. § 1512(c)(2).
When Barr’s memo first appeared, prominent liberal legal commentators were perplexed. Georgetown Law professor Marty Lederman wrote at Just Security:
Also submitted by Anomalous Sources, who commented, “In toto, a most interesting presentation and analysis, imo.”

So only with the broadest interpretation of an obscure and deliberately vague subsection of the law did Mueller have the slightest chance of making the obstruction charge stick. But when Barr was confirmed as AG, Mueller knew how that subsection would be interpreted so he quit. And now there's nothing the Democrats can do about it except make a mess with greasy KFC crumbs all over the floor of a House Judiciary committee hearing.
I missed the part where Hirono tried to grill him but I saw how he made Feinstein look like the pathetic and feeble minded old woman she is. DiFi really has lost it and it was fun to watch.

...My mate Julie Burchill has the right attitude. Although she once indulged in a well-publicized affair with a woman, she told me that definitely did not make her gay. ’It’s like going to Iceland,’ she said. ’Once you’ve been, why on earth would you want to go again?’

In which a real lesbian from across the tracks and before the term was fashionable lays into those who claim the status for status points:
Lesbian tourism has long been a thing — women who once kissed a girl trying to appear more interesting while living a heterosexual life. Anne Heche, Madonna, Britney Spears and Ariana Grande have used lesbian/bisexual hints to titillate fans and sell more records.
But nothing riles me like the Miley Cyrus approach which is to be heterosexual, married to a man, but claiming to be ‘queer’ and edgy. In a recent interview about her marriage to Liam Hemsworth, she said: ‘We’re redefining, to be fucking frank, what it looks like for someone that’s a queer person like myself to be in a hetero relationship.’
What a load of pretentious baloney. Cyrus is as heterosexual as the next woman. Labelling herself ‘queer’ is as convincing as me deciding my dog is a goldfish. While I get the envy that many women feel towards those of us that shop around the corner, it is a bit low to want the attention for being ‘special’ while being boringly straight.
I notice that I got only one chance to read it, though. When I went back the article refused to appear, so I had to drop the title into the Google app in order to see the read it in full. Possibly I’m doing something wrong, but as I have a workaround, I’m not going to worry about it.

President Trump says the Deep State tried and failed to remove him from office in a coup. Former CIA Officer and whistleblower Kevin Shipp says the attempted coup on Trump was a global conspiracy. Shipp explains, “Yes, this is a coup. This is the most shocking violation of the Constitution and criminal activity in the history, not just of America, but of a western government. Much of this rises to the level of treason. People need to understand how shocking this is. It was a clear conspiracy. There will be arrests and indictments without question. . . . This was a coup. It was a conspiracy. It was criminal activity. These people need to be indicted, charged and need to be put in prison, and if they’re not, then our Constitution is nothing more than a sham. This was a coup against a duly elected President, and people need to understand how serious this is.”
Shipp adds, “We have a not so covert civil war going on right now that has been brewing over 60 years. We have the ‘Dark Left,’ and the DNC is fully involved with all their Congressmen and Senators. There is a Marxist movement within the DNC that is in control right now. You can match up the progressive goals with Marxist documents, and you can see they are one in the same. . . . They have to change and eliminate the Constitution. . . . They want to change the First Amendment and the Second Amendment first of all. Second of all, they despise and are targeting Christianity because Christianity . . . underlines the Constitution and is mentioned in the Declaration of Independence. That’s their second target they have to destroy. Their third target is the founding principles of America. That’s our culture. They have to destroy those three things if they are going to overturn our Constitution and turn this into a global Marxist government. That is not an understatement. . . . It’s not the same party of JFK. It’s now a Marxist party and an umbrella for every victim, twisted and perverted group that has nowhere else to go. This is a mortal blow to the Democrat Party when these things come out.”
Shipp predicts President Trump will declassify more than anyone can imagine. Shipp says, “They have been using ‘classification’ as a way to cover up illegal activity. The CIA has, especially in the case of this coup, not just in this, but in other things they have done criminally. They have been withholding things from Congress using ‘classification’ for decades. Trump knows what those are, and he is going to demand that classification is removed so the American people can see it. I am going to be dancing on top of my house if and when that happens.” Emphasis added para 2.

Come on! Socialism is great. You get all this free stuff and everyone lives happily ever after - at least until the economy craters and you're living in the next Venezuela. Did I mention the free stuff?
Question: I know our military has contingency plans (hopefully) for contingencies. But is anyone seriously calling for American troops in Venezuela? And by seriously, I don't mean CNN or idiot Republicans.

But is anyone seriously calling for American troops in Venezuela?
President Trump has been making vague threats, and there has been talk of plans... but as others have commented, the DoD has plans for every contingency including invading Canada. I think the noises are more to concentrate certain minds rather than actual intention.
[Babylon Bee] WASHINGTON, D.C.‐Democratic senators on the Senate Judiciary Committee grilled Attorney General William Barr on the Mueller Report at a special hearing Wednesday.
Before they began the proceedings, the senators solemnly donned their tinfoil hats, a staple of Democrats' official uniforms since 2016.
"Is President Trump now, or has he ever been, AN AGENT OF RUSSIA!?" Senator Mazie Hirono screamed, dramatically pointing in Barr's direction. "Has he ever denied eating borscht!? What about playing Tetris? Doing that funny Russian dance thing? HAS HE!?!"
"And it's immediately obvious that when Trump watches Rocky IV, it's NOT Sylvester Stallone he's rooting for!"
When Barr said he didn't have enough information to respond to her questions, Senator Hirono immediately declared he should resign.
"You should resign immediately if you don't subscribe to my debunked conspiracy theory!" she screamed before an aide was forced to tranquilize her again.
[DAWN] JUST a day after the Senate approved a bill by the PPP’s Sherry Rehman to increase the minimum age of marriage to 18, a similar bill that was pushed by the PTI’s Ramesh Kumar Vankwani was heavily debated in the National Assembly.
Both bills agree on increasing the age of marriage to 18, but they differ on what punishment should be meted out for violations.
Interestingly, while the women parliamentarians of the PTI and PML-N seemed to be in favour of passing the bill, citing the example of other Muslim countries, their male compatriots remained divided on the issue. They could be heard either vocally opposing the bill or seen passively refraining from the vote.
Similarly, loud opposition could also be heard when the bill was passed in the Senate — expectedly from the religious parties, but also from some members of the government.
The reaction from some elected parliamentarians and senators is not surprising as we have witnessed similar responses each time such a move has been included in the national debate before. But it is still disheartening to note how many continue to endorse the marriage of children under the guise of religion.
Although Pakistan is a signatory to international rights treaties that recognise anyone under the age of 18 as a child, deep-rooted cultural beliefs are not easily eroded with a single flick of the pen.
So far, Sindh is the only province to have successfully increased the age of marriage to 18 — and that too after much opposition.
During the recent resistance, Senator Rehman correctly pointed out the inconsistencies in Pakistani laws when it comes to recognising who is a child. For instance, one cannot vote in elections before the age of 18; in fact, one cannot even be issued a CNIC. So how can these youngsters be considered mentally mature to be married off?
Early marriages deprive children of the right to complete their education, and they are forced to take on the burden of adult roles and responsibilities.
Young mothers face health-related complications during pregnancy and childbirth as their bodies are not yet fully developed. Having little to no agency, child brides are especially vulnerable to rape and domestic abuse.
Let it be said in unequivocal terms that child marriage is a harmful cultural practice that deprives the child — and particularly the girl child — of the opportunities that every individual deserves in life.
