[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The U.S. Special Adviser for Afghanistan reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad met with the former prominent Jihadi leader Abdul Rab Rasool Sayaf to discuss prospects for Afghan peace.

Sources close to Sayyaf revealed that the two sides held talks regarding the current situation of the country, specifically focusing on prospects for the revival of Afghan reconciliation process.

, and some other senior government officials.

Taliban vow to attack Afghan government forces during parliamentary elections
[PRESSTV] The Taliban
...the Pashtun equivalent of men...
murderous Moslem group has vowed to target Afghan cops in the upcoming parliamentary elections in the violence-wracked country.

Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement on Monday that the bully boyz would pull no punches to disrupt the long-delayed vote scheduled for October 20.

"People who are trying to help in holding this process successfully by providing security should be targeted and no stone should be left unturned for the prevention and failure" of the election, Mujahid said.

Elsewhere in the statement, Mujahid described the polls as a "malicious American conspiracy" against Afghanistan.

The Taliban have ordered its bully boyz to attack authorities who are helping organize this month’s parliamentary elections in Afghanistan. They have also called on candidates and voters to boycott the polls.

The warning coincides with an increase in the number of murderous Moslem attacks in the country ahead of the polls.

A kaboom on October 2 hit an election campaign rally in eastern Afghanistan, killing at least 13 people and wounding many more.

Back in April, nearly 60 people were killed and 120 others maimed in a kaboom at the doorway of an identity card distribution and voter registration center in Kabul’s Dasht-e-Barchi area, a neighborhood where many of the Hazara
...a grouping of Dari-speaking people of Sino-Tibetan descent inhabiting Afghanistan and Pakistain. They are predominantly Shia Moslems and not particularly warlike, which makes them favored targets...
Shia Moslems live and have frequently been targeted by bombers. The ISIS terrorist group grabbed credit for the bombing.

The polls were originally set to be held in 2015 following presidential elections the previous year but were repeatedly pushed back due to security fears and logistical problems.

#1  ISIS tries to drum up support from Sunni by targeting Shia. It is not working.
If the Sunni really did not want Iran taking over the entire Western Middle East.

Maybe if they would also focus on Stewardship and protection of the Shia, the Shia may not be adverse to removing that tyranny also radicalizing the region making everybody die.

Who am I kidding?
Think they would take advice from me?

Egypt military court sentences 4 to death, 17 to life in prison in terrorism case
[AlAhram] An Egyptian military court sentenced on Monday four people to death and 17 others to life in prison in the case known in the media as the "Giza Province" case.

The prosecutor-general’s office charged the defendants with joining a terrorist organization, conspiracy, the use of weapons and bombs that resulted in the death of 20 police personnel and an employee at the authority of roads and bridges, as well as destroying public property.

The court also handed down a 15-year sentence to two defendants, six years to ten, and five years to five defendants in the same case.

This group attempted to form a terrorist cell in Egypt's Giza governorate to be known as the "Daesh state in Giza."
Monday's verdicts can be appealed in a military court of appeals.
No worries. Several years from now the final appeal will have been ruled on, run past the council of elders of Islam, and gotten a absolutely final ruling. And then that sentence will rate a Page 1 posting.
Seventeen defendants were acquitted in the same case.

The court also ruled that nine defendants are to pay compensation for damage caused to roads and bridges.

The case involved the trial of members of a terrorist organization formed in Egypt's Giza governorate with links to the terrorist group ISIS.

Egypt's security apparatus has said that this group attempted to form a terrorist cell in Egypt's Giza governorate to be known as the "ISIS state in Giza."

Officials have also said that this group targeted the Egyptian foreign ministry building and attacked the authority of roads and bridges in February 2016, which what resulted in the death an employee and the injury of several others.

The terrorist organization was reportedly formed following the Nahda sit-in supporting the ousted Islamist president Mohammed Morsi in August 2014.

Cameroon opposition claims election win, ruling party disagrees
[Al Jazeera] Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
's opposition candidate has claimed victory in Sunday's presidential polls despite a government warning not to announce unofficial results.

"I was charged with taking a penalty, I took it and I scored," Movement for the Rebirth of Cameroon (MRC) candidate Maurice Kamto said at a news conference on Monday in Yaounde.

"I have received a clear mandate from the people and I intend to defend it until the end," he said.

"I invite the outgoing president to organise a peaceful way to transfer power," Kamto added.

The opposition candidate did not give results to justify his claim, which was greeted by loud cheers from supporters as he made his announcement.

But the deputy secretary general of the ruling-Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, Gregoire Owona, has accused Kamto of breaking the law.

"It is not right at all to announce this. He hasn't won anything at all. It's totally illegal," he said, adding that it was too early to say if anyone had won.

"Kamto was not even represented at all the polling stations, (so) it was impossible for him to count all the votes," he added.

By law, each polling station must submit its results after verification by the electoral commission, to the Constitutional Court which is responsible for announcing the official tally within 15 days.

German Social Democrat Politician Who Said Israel Executes Palestinians Urged To Resign
[Jpost] German politicians on Monday accused Bremen’s Senator of the Interior Ulrich Mäurer of antisemitism and urged him to resign after he said Israel executes Palestinians on the Gaza-Israel border.

“When I see that the Israeli Army is simply executing dozens of Palestinians at the border fence, I don’t understand that either. And I can understand all those who use this opportunity to express their opinions very clearly,” said Mäurer in the Bremen State Legislature on September 27. The 67-year-old politician said he would demonstrate for the Palestinians in light of Israel’s actions.

The vice president of the Christian Democratic Union Party in the Bundestag, Gitta Connemann, told Germany’s top-selling Bild newspaper that Mäurer’s doubling-down on his anti-Israel comment “makes Jew-hatred respectable.” Connemann is also vice president of the German-Israel Friendship Society.

After Mäurer faced intense criticism on social media and from politicians, he told the Bremen paper Weser-Kurier, “In view of the deaths on the border, you have to understand when it comes to demonstrations and protests in response.”

Commentators in Germany noted that is unclear why a politician responsible for interior affairs expressed his view on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The Bremen CDU deputy, Elisabeth Motschmann, told Bild, “We are fighting antisemitism in our country and surprisingly an interior senator expresses himself antisemitically.”

The vice president of the Free Democratic Party in the Bundestag, Alexander Graf Lambsdorff, told the newspaper that Mäurer’s remarks were “nonsense” and that he should “apologize in a letter to Israel’s ambassador.” Lambsdorff also urged Mäurer to go to southern Israel to see the security situation on the border with the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip

US rejects Iran's legal claim to recover $1.75 bln in frozen assets
[Ynet] The United States on Monday asked judges at the International Court of Justice to throw out a claim by Iran to recover $1.75 billion (1.5 billion euros) in national bank assets seized by US courts.

The US Supreme Court ruled in 2016 that the assets must be turned over to American families of victims of the 1983 bombing of a US Marine Corps barracks in Beirut, among others.

#1  ...When Obama and Kerry were finessing the details on the Iranians' bribe funds-transfer-that-wasn't-a-treaty-so-the-Senate-doesn't-have-to-worry-its-little-head-about-it, more than a few GOP senators signed a letter reminding people that if it ain't a treaty then the next guy to come along might just scrap the whole damned deal.

Heaven knows they weren't thinking of DJT at the time - who was? - but you'd think the Iranians might be figuring out by now that the next guy ain't playing by the same rules anymore.

The noose tightens.

Yes to compensation for Beirut bombing of USMC barracks. There also needs to be compensation for enslaving U.S. embassy employees during the Carter admin. Add to that the seizure of our ships in the Persian Gulf.

Trump probably has given a standing order to sink any Iranian ships that harass or try to seize any of our ships.

Russia says it provided Syria with 24 advanced S-300 launchers for free
[IsraelTimes] Russia provided the advanced S-300 air defense system to Syria’s military free of charge, transferring three battalions with eight launchers each to the Assad regime, Russia’s state news agency TASS reported Monday.

"On October 1, three battalion sets of S-300PM systems of eight launchers each were delivered to Syria," a military source told the agency.

"These systems were previously deployed at one of the Russian aerospace forces’ regiments which now uses the S-400 Triumf systems. The S-300 systems underwent capital repairs at Russian defense enterprises, are in good condition and are capable of performing combat tasks," he said.

The source added that the systems were provided free of charge, along with 100 surface-to-air guided missiles for each battalion, 300 in all.

Rocked by Trump's sanctions, Iranian oil exports drop further
[Ynet] Islamic Theocratic Republic is feeling the effects of US punitive measures as country's crude exports fall far 'more significantly than previously foreseen', allowing Soddy Arabia, non-OPEC Russia and other producers to fill the gap.

Iran's crude exports fell further in the first week of October, according to tanker data and an industry source, taking a major hit from US sanctions and throwing a challenge to other OPEC oil producers as they seek to cover the shortfall.

The Islamic Theocratic Republic exported 1.1 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude in that seven-day period, Refinitiv Eikon data showed. An industry source who also tracks exports said October shipments were so far below 1 million bpd.

That's down from at least 2.5 million bpd in April, before US President Donald Trump
...New York real estate developer, described by Dems as illiterate, racist, misogynistic, and what ever other unpleasant descriptions they can think of, elected by the rest of us as 45th President of the United States...
in May withdrew the United States from a 2015 nuclear deal with Iran and reimposed sanctions. The figure also marks a further fall from 1.6 million bpd in September.

Tanker schedules are often adjusted and exports can vary week by week. The early October figures add to signs, however, that Iranian exports are falling more steeply than expected, stretching the ability of Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, non-OPEC Russia and other producers to fill the gap.

"The US government's tough stance raised the stakes for a more significant Iran export loss than previously foreseen," said Norbert Ruecker, head of macro and commodity research at Swiss bank Julius Baer.

Oil prices have extended a rally on expectations the sanctions will test the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and other producers. Brent crude on Wednesday last week reached $86.74 a barrel, the highest since 2014.

None of the Iranian crude exported in the first week of October is heading for Europe, according to the Refinitiv data. The tankers are sailing to India, China and the Middle East.

While Washington has said it wants to cut Iran's oil exports to zero, Iran and Saudi Arabia say that is unlikely. The Trump administration is considering waivers on sanctions for countries that are reducing their imports.

India, a major buyer, has ordered Iranian oil for November, although New Delhi does not yet know whether it will receive such a waiver.

Iran has questioned whether the market needs more oil and says its output is holding steady at about 3.8 million bpd. Iran has pledged to block any OPEC supply increase that the country deems to be against its interest.

"The market does not want a single barrel," Iran's representative on OPEC's board of governors, Hossein Kazempour Ardebili, told Rooters in late September.

But figures OPEC compiles from secondary sources that include oil-industry media and government agencies put output in August at 3.58 million bpd, down 150,000 bpd from July. Some of these sources say output fell further in September.

Iran may indeed have not cut production yet to match the rate of decline in its exports, as the country appears to be storing more oil on ships as it did during sanctions that applied until the 2015 nuclear deal
