[ALMASDARNEWS] Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) special agent Leatrice Malika De Bruhl-Daniels was incarcerated Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit! on Friday over accusations she shared classified information with a terror suspect ‒ Nadal Diya ‒ with whom she was romantically involved.
According to multiple media reports, Bruhl-Daniels met Diya in Dubai in 2016 while working at the US consulate there. She had been a special agent for nine years and had top-security clearance with access to sensitive information on some subjects.
Diya was trying to get a tourist visa to visit the United States. Court documents say that Bruhl-Daniels contacted officials at the State Department and Department of Homeland Security (DHS), who informed her that both the DHS and FBI had their eyes on Diya in a counterterrorism probe.
Bruhl-Daniels, despite being told to "Stay away from Diya," went on to form a romantic relationship with him and told him that if he came to the US he would be arrested.
The criminal complaint against her says that Diya furnished her with lavish gifts, including a big birthday party in Dubai that State Department and active duty Navy members came to, loans to vacation in Greece, a job at his company for her son, a gold bracelet and a massage.
Bruhl-Daniels said she paid him back for the $1,400 loan with booze.
In various messages to Diya, Bruhl-Daniels wrote that she was "deeply attracted" to him and assured him she was trying to sway federal officials to find him innocent. Diya had "some associates that are well known" to Sherlocks, she said, telling him that she offered no more information to authorities besides what she believed would be exonerating. "I gave them no more than what I could to emphasize your innocence," she said, court documents allege.
NCIS agents confronted her about those messages in May. She said she didn’t remember sending them but they were "pretty damn bad,"
Diya was charged in Texas in September after he was caught in the US with fake identification papers that said he came from South America.
Bruhl-Daniels was represented by a public defender when she appeared in court in Alexandria, Virginia, which borders Washington, DC, on Wednesday for a detention hearing.

Their cell is alleged to have been established in 2015 and has been devoting particular efforts to recruit engineering students at Birzeit University outside Ramallah, who could be useful in executing attacks and transferring "terror funds."
The security agency said it has arrested dozens of the network’s other members since its founding, but that recently the network has stepped up its activity in the West Bank.
The Shin Bet arrested three Paleostinians from the West Bank during July and August who were indicted on various terror charges in September.
Two of them ‐ 21-year-old Issa Shalalda and 20-year-old Omar Ma’soud ‐ were active in the Hamas-affiliated Islamic bloc at Birzeit University. According to the Shin Bet, the pair underwent military training during their recruitment.
The third member indicted was Hazem Hamayel, a resident of the northern West Bank. The 24-year-old is alleged to have attempted to carry out a terror attack after being in contact with a Hamas official in Gazoo who used a Facebook account under a fake identity.
"The activity of the terror infrastructure in Gazoo, along with additional Hamas activity from the Gazoo Strip, is an inseparable part of Hamas’s attempts to undermine stability in the West Bank, Israel and the Gazoo Strip," the Shin Bet said in a statement.
In June, the Shin Bet revealed that its agents uncovered a large and highly active Hamas terror cell operating out of the Paleostinian city of Nablus earlier this year that was allegedly planning to conduct a number of bombings and shooting attacks in Israel and the northern West Bank.
The Shin Bet said it arrested more than 20 suspected members of the Hamas cell in late April, including its two leaders: Mutassem Muhammad Salem, 35, and Fares Kamil Zebidi, 33. According to the security service, the cell began operating in October 2017.

Some Paleostinian reports claimed the man was killed by bullets, while others said he was hit by fragments of a tank shell.
The ministry said its investigation confirmed that al-Arouqi was killed by "the occupation" ‐ its term for Israel.
An army spokesperson said the IDF did not know of soldiers or tanks opening fire in the area around the time of al-Arouqi’s death.

[AlAhram] A Ottoman Turkish military convoy entered rebel-held northwestern Syria early on Wednesday, an AFP correspondent reported, as the deadline for establishing a buffer zone between rebel and government forces draws closer.
At least 40 vehicles, including trucks and armoured personnel carriers, were seen moving slowly south along a main highway under the cover of darkness.
The troops they were carrying are expected to be deployed at "observation posts" The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... has already set up in rebel-held areas of Idlib and Aleppo provinces.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britannia-based war monitor, said the vehicles were heading to Ottoman Turkish monitoring posts, including in the southwestern parts of Idlib.
There was no word from Turkey on any reinforcements to the area. It last sent a similar troop column into northern Syria just over a week ago.
Wednesday's convoy entered as the deadline for implementing a Ottoman Turkish-Russian accord on the future of Syria's last major rebel bastion draws closer.
Last month, Moscow and Ankara agreed to set up a demilitarised zone ringing rebel territory to avert a threatened government offensive.
All factions in the zone must withdraw heavy weapons by October 10, and radical groups must leave by October 15. It will then be monitored by Ottoman Turkish troops and Russian military police.
The region's dominant gang, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an alliance led by jihadists of Syria's former al-Qaeda affiliate, has still not officially responded to the accord.
Turkey's main rebel allies, the National Liberation Front, gave the deal a cautious welcome before objecting to its provisions for a Russian troop presence inside the zone.
The NLF says it is still hammering out the details of the agreement's implementation with Ankara, and is wary that the current proposals would eat into their territory too much.
In an interview aired Tuesday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem said he hoped the deal would prove to be a "step towards the liberation of Idlib."
Muallem told Leb's al-Mayadeen television he was confident in Turkey's ability to fulfil its side of the deal "because of its knowledge of factions" on the ground.
Fighters from the area would be allowed to stay, he said, while those from other areas would go home and foreigners would leave through Turkey.
