The Valley Boys: How a Lone SF Team is Fighting ISIS in Remote Mountains of AFG
[Black Rifle Coffee Co.] Buck, a former US Army Ranger-turned-Special Forces communication sergeant, quietly watched as a C-130 cargo airplane lifted off from the runway at Jalalabad Airfield with a deafening roar, quickly ascending into the pitch-black sky.

"I know there’s a scientific explanation for it, but it still blows my mind every time I see it," Buck said. "I mean, something that big just doesn’t seem like it should be able to take off like that."

The lone operator was patiently waiting for his hour-long flight out to combat outpost (COP) Blackfish, located in Nangarhar Province’s Achin District, where the rest of his Special Forces team was deployed. Only 11 kilometers from the Pakistan border, the remote camp is one of the most forward positions the US military holds in the fight against ISIS-Khorasan.

members into provinces of Kirkuk,

Diyala and Salahuddin.

Speaking to Almaalomah website, Safaa al-Aasam said the meeting between Peshmerga and the coalition tackled returning the hard boyz back to the country. "The meeting is an attempt to return Islamic State back to the disputed regions and create security and political chaos to impose control of the Kurds on Kirkuk, Diyala and Salahuddin."

Kurdistan, according to Aasam, "detains more than 600 IS members who fled battles against security troops."

The U.S. "seeks returning Islamic State into the disputed regions, with support from Peshmerga to get the country back to square one," he said, urging the government to "take strict measures against Peshmerga and the coalition to stop the conspiracy against the security of the country."

On Monday, Kurdistan’s Ministry of Peshmerga declared an agreement with the coalition to revise the military plans of Kirkuk and the disputed regions.

Iraqi government forces approached the southern borders of Erbil, capital of semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region, after taking over Kirkuk province from Kurdish Peshmerga fighters in October, fulfilling instructions made by the Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi to retake areas where illusory sovereignty is disputed with Kurdistan.

Baghdad had declared intentions to retake areas disputed on with Erbil following the Kurdistan Region’s vote for ts independence referendum on September 25, from Iraq, urging Peshmerga to cooperate with federal troops.

The disputed regions has been one of the main conflict issues between Baghdad and Erbil for 14 years. The area of those regions reach around 37 square kilometers

Gazans breach border, set fire to army post; IDF opens fire, killing one
[IsraelTimes] Military says two other Paleostinians taken into custody, one at death's door who was flown to hospital in IDF helicopter; fourth suspect flees back into the Strip

Israeli troops shot up four Paleostinians who breached the southern Gazoo security fence and set fire to an empty Israel Defense Forces post on Monday, killing one of them, the army said.

According to the military, the four Paleostinian youths broke through the fence east of Rafah in the southern Strip and set fire to a sniper’s nest near the border.

"IDF troops spotted the infiltration and monitored the incident. The troops chased after the terrorists, during which time they shot up them," the army said.

"As a result of the gunfire, one terrorist was killed, another was critically injured and was taken for medical treatment, and one was handed over to security forces for interrogation," the IDF said in a statement.

The critically maimed Paleostinian suspect was evacuated to Beersheba’s Soroka Medical Center in an IDF helicopter, the army said. A hospital spokesperson said his condition had been improved to moderate and that he was undergoing treatment in the trauma center.

According to Paleostinian media, one of the suspects made it back to the Gazoo Strip. He was taken to a nearby hospital with a bullet wound in his shoulder, the Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,-run Gazoo health ministry said.

During the chase after the suspects, the soldiers reported hearing gunshots fired at them, the army said.

The Shehab news outlet, which is affiliated with the Hamas terror group, reported that the shots were fired by members of Paleostinian terrorist groups in the area.

No Israeli injuries were reported.
Ynet adds:
Gazoo's health ministry said a 16-year-old Paleostinian was maimed by Israeli gunfire in the southern Gazoo Strip. It's unclear if the two incidents are related.

According to an update given by Minister Gila Gamliel, some 450 incendiary kites were shot down by IDF drones; 260 Paleostinians crossed the border fence and caused 203 fires; and some 19,000 dunams (some 47,000 acres) were destroyed as a result of the blazes in the Gazoo border area, causing significant damage.

Also Monday afternoon, a large blaze was raging in the Shikma Stream area in the northern Negev. Some 200 dunams (about 50 acres) have been burned so far. Firefighting forces have yet to gain control of the fire.

Filipino mayor on Duterte’s ‘narco-list’ slain by ‘sniper’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] A Philippine city mayor known for parading drug suspects in public but also alleged to have drug ties himself was shot and killed by a sniper Monday in a brazen attack during a flag-raising ceremony in front of hundreds of horrified employees and village leaders.

The apparent lone gunshot felled Mayor Antonio Halili of Tanauan city in Batangas province south of Manila as he and about 300 employees and newly elected village leaders sang the national anthem in a parking lot outside the city hall. The gunman escaped, police and witnesses said.

“I didn’t know that it was gunfire until people started screaming ‘Somebody’s shooting, somebody’s shooting’ while running in all directions and I saw my mayor slumped on the ground,” said village leader Rico Alcazar, who was in a crowd standing behind the 72-year-old Halili. “Everybody was shocked and it took sometime before some carried the mayor and brought him away in a car.”

Halili’s bodyguards opened fire toward a grassy hill where the gunshot was apparently fired, adding to the bedlam, Alcazar said by phone.

Cellphone video shot by Alcazar shows a few men standing around the fallen Halili as gunfire rings out continuously and people cry, scream, run and take cover during the melee. A man yells, ‘The mayor is dead, the mayor was shot,’ and another desperately calls for a car to take Halili to a hospital. A third man starts blaming his companions for the security breach.

“They did not see anybody approach him. They just heard a gunshot, so the assumption or allegation was it could have been a sniper shot,” the national police chief, Director-General Oscar Albayalde, said at a news conference in Manila, adding that an investigation was underway.

The bullet hit a cellphone in Halili’s coat pocket then pierced his chest, police said. Policemen scoured the hill but failed to find the gunman.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte expressed suspicion in a speech that the killing was linked to illegal drugs.

Two years ago, Halili ordered drug suspects to be paraded in public in Tanauan, a small city about 70 kilometers (43 miles) south of Manila, in a campaign that was dubbed “walks of shame.” The suspects were forced to wear cardboard signs that read “I’m a pusher, don’t emulate me” in a campaign that alarmed human rights officials.

Officials, however, also linked Halili to illegal drugs and removed his control over city police. Halili strongly denied the allegation and said at the time that he would resign and would be willing to be publicly paraded as a drug suspect if authorities could come up with evidence to support the allegation.

Tanauan information officer Gerardo Laresma said Halili had received death threats “left and right” from unknown people prior to the attack. Presidential spokesman Harry Roque condemned the violence.

Halili’s unusual campaign drew attention at a time of growing alarm over the rising number of killings of drug suspects under Duterte. Since Duterte took office in 2016, more than 4,200 drug suspects had been killed in clashes with police, alarming human rights groups, Western governments and U.N. rights watchdogs.

Iranian militia leader appears in video in Daraa
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] In a new video published by Iranian militias on social media, the commander of the Abu Fadl al-Abbas Brigade that is ideologically and logistically tied to Iran, Maher Ajeeb Jazza appeared in numerous villages in Daraa.

On its Facebook account, the of “Zulfiqar Brigade” militia said on Sunday they, along with the Syrian regime’s army, are now in Tafs and Dael.

Several pictures of Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas Brigade’s commander, as well as members of the Republican Guard, were published.

Iran established the Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas Brigade at the end of 2012 and appointed Maher Ajeeb Jazza, a Syrian citizen, as its leader. Jazza comes from a village with a Shiite majority called "Nabil" that are tied to the city of Aleppo.

In the video, sectarian slogans that Iran usually propagates to push its militias to go to Syria appeared on Jazza’s arm.

The Assad regime changed the name of the organization, initially called Abu al-Fadl Brigade, to “The Republican Guard- Abu al-Fadl al-Abbas Brigade.”

The regime did the same with another brigade, known as “Imam Hussain Brigade,” which merged with Assad’s army and battles under the fourth division headed by Major General Maher al-Assad.

The Abu al-Fadl Brigade has its headquarters in the “Sayeda Zeinab” district in the capital Damascus, where the majority of the "Iranian" militias are headquartered in Syria.

The militia’s leader said that the Brigade was founded to defend “the shrine of Sayeda Zeinab,” which has become the motto that Iran has spread to its militias in Syria.

Before the Assad regime launched its military operation in Daraa, Mojtaba Ferdosipour, Iran’s ambassador to Jordan, said that Iran does not have military forces in southern Syria.

The military operation in Daraa has led to extensive destruction and left a large number of people dead and injured, in addition to displacing more than 200 thousand civilians who fled the war.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov urged foreign parties to withdraw from southern Syria. But Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, responded by saying “there is no power in the world,” besides Bashar al-Assad, that could get Iran out of Syrian.

New water pollution protests hit southwest Iran, reported clashes with police
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Protesters clashed with security forces in southwestern Iran late Sunday, a day after several demonstrators were injured in nighttime skirmishes over water pollution, Iranian state media reported.

The latest protests were held in Abadan, 12 kilometers (eight miles) from Khorramshahr, where 11 people were hurt Saturday when an unidentified gunman opened fire during a demonstration, according to officials.

State-run IRNA news agency did not specify how many people were involved in the Abadan demonstration, but said security forces had broken up a crowd that was “disrupting public order”.

Iranian state media said protesters clashed with police

It said people protesting over poor water quality in a western district of the city had thrown projectiles and set fire to rubbish bins and a vehicle.

Authorities say one protester and 10 police were injured, and videos posted online showed gunfire ringing out.

The agency did not report any further injuries, but added that water pollution in the two cities of Khuzestan province had sparked several demonstrations over the past four days.

The province was devastated by the eight-year war between Iran and Iraq in the 1980s and suffers from chronic pollution and drought.

It has a largely Arab population that has long complained of official discrimination.
