Taliban's Samangan Shadow Governor Joins Peace Process
[Tolo News] Jalaluddin, the Taliban's shadow governor in Samangan province, has joined the government's grinding of the peace processor along with a number of other holy warriors, officials said Thursday.

The murderous Moslems also reportedly handed in their weapons, officials said.

Ahmad Monir, Samangan's local police front man, confirmed the development and said that 26 anti-government armed opposition holy warriors, led by Mawlavi Abdul Karim, have joined the grinding of the peace processor.

Among those who joined was Jalaluddin, the Taliban's shadow governor for Samangan province, Monir said.

According to Monir, these gunnies previously carried out holy warrior activities in Aibak city, the center of Samangan province.

Religious Scholars Term Taliban Acts Un-Islamic
[Tolo News] At a gathering in Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
on Wednesday, a number of religious scholars stated the Taliban's acts over the past few years are against the teachings of Islam.

The religious scholars said the Taliban -- who they say take orders from Pakistain's Inter-Services Intelligence
...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. It serves as a general command center for favored turban groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, tries to influence the politix of neighboring countries, and carries out a (usually) low-level war against India in Kashmir...
(ISI) - kill government forces, civilians and children. The holy mans said these acts are not acceptable.

Condemning the acts of the Taliban, the holy mans called upon the people of Afghanistan to unite against insurgency.

The religious scholars meanwhile praised the performance of Afghan cops, and said they themselves support the Afghan troops wherever they are serving in the line of duty.

Condemning Taliban's acts, Haqqani, a religious scholar, said: "Taliban, after taking orders from ISI, term the killing of civilians and even children as legal."

"The Talibs receive weapons from this organization [Pakistain's ISI] and are trained and financed by this agency," he added.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
one of the primary calls by the holy mans on Wednesday was to the nation -- calling on them to unite against faceless myrmidons and plots by enemy and to stand by the government and security forces.

Mujahideen Should Help Fight Taliban: Massoud
[Tolo News] President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
's special representative for reforms and good governance, Ahmad Zia Massoud, declared Thursday that the government would like to include Mujahideen in formal security structures so they can help lead the war against the Taliban.

This is the second senior government official that has come out in support of mobilization of Mujahideen over the past few days. Recently, the foreign affairs minister Salahuddin Rabbani, during his visit to northern provinces, called on Mujahideen to mobilize themselves and pick up arms against the Taliban.

While meeting with a number of former Jihadi commanders in Kapisa province, north of Kabul
...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either....
, Massoud said the government had reached a decision that based on the war experience of Mujahideen, they should be given the responsibility to fight the Death Eaters.

"We have reached this conclusion that we must regulate our respected Mujahideen and young people within the framework of security institutions because these Mujahideen, especially their commanders have given their test during the war and resistance era so that they should be able to take over the leadership of war," Massoud said, who received a warm welcome from the people of Kapisa and the ex-jihadists.

In addition, he accused Pakistain of harboring terrorist groups and committing crimes in Afghanistan.

During his speech at the gathering, he accused Pakistain more than 10 times of fueling militancy in the country.

"Pakistain has always tried to eliminate the political stability of Afghanistan through Taliban, al-Qaeda and Daesh [Islamic State] to launch cowardly attacks on different parts of our country," said Massoud, the brother of late National Hero Ahmad Shah Massoud.

According to him, relying on Pakistain's repeated and unpracticed commitments for peace talks is just a waste of time.

He urged that the government will not be successful in talking peace with the Taliban.

Moreover, some politicians present at the gathering emphasized that the mobilization of people and Jihadi commanders was not aimed at building militia groups.

"Our people are ready to defend their country and we reject the propaganda that suggest it is building militia," said Mirdad Nijrabi, a member of the internal commission of Wolesi Jirga. "This means to stand alongside the security forces."

'Rebels' Damaged The Honor of Kunduz People: Ghani
[Tolo News] Referring to the reports from Amnesia Amnesty International that highlighted Taliban's crimes in Kunduz, President Ashraf Ghani
...former chancellor of Kabul University, now president of Afghanistan. Before returning to Afghanistan in 2002 he was a scholar of political science and anthropology. He worked at the World Bank working on international development assistance. As Finance Minister of Afghanistan between July 2002 and December 2004, he led Afghanistan's attempted economic recovery until the Karzais stole all the money. ..
said on Thursday that "rebels" damaged the "honor, lives and property" of the people of Kunduz.

The crimes committed in Kunduz are unacceptable to the government, said Ghani - who directly referred to the Taliban as "rebels" after calling them either "brothers" or "political opposition" in the past.

Speaking at the National Land Conference, Ghani said he was tired of injustice and instability.

"What was the difference between the government [forces] and rebels? Our forces didn't violate human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
while the rebels damaged the honor, lives and properties of the people," Ghani said.

He said based on a UN report, the Afghan forces did not harm civilians during the battle in Kunduz -- which fell to the Taliban late last month for three days.

"Our people are tired of injustice and instability," Ghani said, adding that he will not bow to pressure by anti-government elements.

This comes after the commission appointed by parliament to investigate the fall of Kunduz left for the northern province on Thursday.

Mirdad Nijrabi, head of the internal security committee of the Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of Parliament) said the commission has left for Kunduz to "start its investigation into Kunduz."

Ghani has also appointed a fact-finding team to investigate the fall of Kunduz and identity the elements behind the collapse of the city.

2 Lockerbie Bombing Suspects, Libyans, Sought by U.S. and Scotland
[NYTIMES] Scottish and American prosecutors are asking the Libyan government for help tracking down two suspects in the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, the terrorist attack that brought down Pan Am Flight 103, killing 270 people.

"The lord advocate and the U.S. attorney general have recently agreed that there is a proper basis in law in Scotland and the United States to entitle Scottish and U.S. Sherlocks to treat two Libyans as suspects in the continuing investigation into the bombing of flight Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie," a front man for Frank Mulholland, the lord advocate, or top prosecutor, for Scotland said in a statement on Thursday.

The statement did not name the individuals sought in the case. Mr. Mulholland has written a letter to the Libyan authorities requesting their help in interviewing the two suspects, according to the statement.

Many details of the Dec. 21, 1988, bombing remain unresolved.

In 2001, a former Libyan intelligence officer, Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi, was convicted of plotting the bombing. The verdict came from a Scottish court meeting in the Netherlands -- a highly unusual arrangement agreed to when Libya's longtime ruler, Col. Muammar el-Qadaffy, allowed the deportation of Mr. Megrahi and another suspect, Al-Amin Khalifa Fhimah.

Mr. Fhimah was acquitted. Mr. Megrahi was convicted and sentenced to life in prison, but in 2009, the Scottish government, over the strenuous objections of American officials, released him on compassionate grounds. He returned to Libya where he died of prostate cancer in 2012, still maintaining his innocence. Colonel Qadaffy was tossed and killed in 2011 during the Arab Spring uprising in Libya.

The Lockerbie bombing occurred at a low point in United States-Libyan relations. Two years before the attack, in April 1986, President Ronald Reagan ordered Arclight airstrikes against the Libyan cities of Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
and Benghazi in retaliation for the bombing of a West Berlin nightclub club frequented by American armed service members. The bombing of the Pan Am flight that killed 189 Americans was believed by American authorities to have been a response to the strikes against Libya.

An article published last month in The New Yorker magazine revisited the Lockerbie case through the eyes of Ken Dornstein, a filmmaker whose brother, David, died in the attack. Mr. Dornstein's three-part film about the case, "My Brother's Bomber," has been airing on PBS's "Frontline" series the last three weeks.

Mr. Dornstein, who has doggedly followed the case, tracked down Musbah Eter, a Libyan who was convicted of involvement in the 1986 nightclub bombing. Mr. Eter told Mr. Dornstein that Abu Agila Mas'ud, a Libyan official, armed the bomb that was used in the Lockerbie attack. Mr. Mas'ud is in a Libyan prison, having been convicted of making bombs for the Qadaffy government at the outset of the popular uprising in Libya.

So far, Western authorities have not been able to question Mr. Mas'ud; it is not clear whether he is one of the two people now being sought.

Mr. Dornstein's film suggests that a former Libyan intelligence officer, Abdullah Senussi
...former Libyan supremo Muammar Qadaffy's right hand man and brother-in-law. He looks like you always expected Luca Brasi to look....
, who fled to Mauritania during the uprising against Colonel Qadaffy, may have been involved. It is unclear if he too is one of the individuals sought by Scottish and American authorities.

The film also raises questions about the role of Badri Hassan, a friend of Mr. Megrahi's whose widow told Mr. Dornstein in an interview that she always suspected her husband had been one of the plotters. Mr. Badri died of a heart attack a few years ago.

"It has always been our position that Megrahi did not act alone in committing this crime," the Scottish prosecutor's office wrote in an email to families of the victims, which was reviewed by The New York Times
...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize...
. The email went on to say that the request to Libya was made by the Scottish authorities because the United States and Libya do not have an extradition treaty.

"As the investigation remains live, and in order to preserve the integrity of that investigation, we are unable to provide any further information or confirm the identity of the two suspects but we hope this reassures you that progress is being made," the prosecutor's office told the families.

Division of Al-Aqsa a 'red line': Turkey's top cleric
[AA.TR] Mehmet Gormez, head of the Turkish Presidency for Religious Affairs, warned Israel on Thursday against attempts to divide East Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque compound -- "temporally and spatially" -- between Muslims and Jews.

"Israel aims to achieve the temporal and spatial division of Al-Aqsa," Gormez told Anadolu Agency. "This constitutes a red line for every Muslim living in the region."

He went on to assert that The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
's religious affairs directorate, also known as the Diyanet Foundation, would "never accept such a division".

On Sept. 13, festivities erupted between Israeli security forces and Paleostinian Muslims after the Israeli authorities closed the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex off to Muslim men under 50.

For the next three days, they used rubber bullets, teargas and stun grenades to disperse Muslim worshippers therein, while myrmidon Jewish settlers were allowed into the site in large numbers.

Prominent Paleostinian personalities and resistance groups subsequently warned that the move portended an attempt by Israel to divide the mosque compound, spatially and temporally, between Muslim and Jewish worshipers.

- 'Surrounded by fire'

According to Gormez, the Islamic world is currently "surrounded by fire", with many Muslim countries now suffering from violence and extremism.
Unexpectedly.
He attributed most of these problems to "Israel's ongoing occupation of Paleostinian land, including Al-Aqsa".
Drink up!
He went on to assert that Israel's decades-long occupation of Paleostine was the main reason behind the many wars the region had suffered in recent history, including the 1991 Gulf War, the U.S. occupation of Iraq (2003-2011) and Syria's ongoing civil war.
Of course he did.

Turkish PM: 10 more suspects held in Ankara blasts case
[AA.TR] Ten suspects have been taken into custody in connection with suspicious posts appearing on Twitter, claiming an attack may take place in Ankara hours before Saturday's deadly bombings, Turkish premier revealed Thursday.

In a live interview with private news channel TGRT Haber Thursday, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said: "We have ten more detentions as investigations deepen further", adding that the suspects were linked with Daesh [Islamic State] and PKK terrorist organizations.

Davutoglu added that the detentions took place on Wednesday and Thursday.

"We have begun to uncover the activities of Daesh [Islamic State] which is always mentioned as the usual suspect and the network within this framework," the premier said, adding that the probe was also looking into identities of the suspected jacket wallahs involved and the cooperation they allegedly received.

He assured that no efforts would be spared to nab and reveal the perpetrators behind the attack.

On Wednesday, Davutoglu revised the official corpse count from 97 to 99 people dead, which also included a Paleostinian national. Hundreds of other people were also injured in Saturday's bombings at a peace rally outside Ankara's main train station.

Also on Thursday, a university student was reportedly held in central Eskisehir province for allegedly tweeting about the Ankara kabooms several hours before the incident took place.

According to local security sources, the suspect O.S. was a 23-year-old Anadolu University student, who was detained at his home and sent to Ankara for further investigations.

The suspicious post was shared a day before the attack, using the account named "Pir Ozan Abdal", which suggested that an alleged "attack by police" at the peace rally in Ankara on Saturday could lead to a stampede.

"A possible kaboom could spark off one of the greatest slaughters. It is most likely...It is also possible that nothing will happen. Hundreds of people may die because of little provocations," the alleged account claimed in the Twitter post.

An investigation into the owner of the account was launched after the incident.

Saturday's blasts have shaken The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
as the country faces a general election re-run on Nov. 1, military operations in the southeast and the ongoing civil war in Syria close to its borders.

"We are ready for very close cooperation and very close engagement with the Turkish authorities in the fight against the terrorist threat," Lavrov told a conference on Russian-Turkish partnership in Moscow.

Turkey suggested to Russia on Tuesday that the two sides should consider creating a joint working group to coordinate actions related to Russia's air strikes in Syria after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

warned Moscow against losing Ankara's friendship.

"If Russia loses a friend like Turkey with whom it has a lot of cooperation it is going to lose a lot of things. It needs to know this," Erdogan said in Belgium at a presser alongside Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel broadcast on Turkish television on October 6.

PM records statement in Asghar Khan case
[DAWN] Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf...
recorded on Wednesday his statement with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in the Asghar Khan case relating to distribution of Rs140 million among components of an anti-PPP alliance of parties prior to the 1990 elections.

Addressing a presser at Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

House, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan
...Currently the Interior Minister of Pakistain. He is the senior leader of the Pak Moslem League (N) and a close aide to Nawaz Uncle Fester Sharif. He is noted for his vocal anti-American railing in the National Assembly. However (comma) Khan told the U.S. ambassador that he was in fact pro-American but he and the PML-N would have to be critical of US actions in order to remain publicly credible. Khan cited his wife and children's US citizenship as proof, which means he's lying to one side or the other and probably both. He wears a wig, but you probably guessed that. since hair doesn't grow naturally in that shape or texture...
said he hoped there would be progress in the case, but added that the statements of certain ex-army officers were the biggest stumbling block.

Asked whether the statements submitted by the servicemen before the Supreme Court would be sufficient for the purpose, the minister said had those statements been enough, the court would have decided the case on its own.

Deformities in Charsadda: Cousin marriages, and the heavy price children pay
[DAWN] Standing outside his house with his two blind children in Charsadda's Mian Kalay village, Zahirullah Khan's grief is inconsolable. "Two of my other children also died after reaching puberty," says the tearful father.

For the past 40 years, almost every third home in the village, which is situated some 30 kilometres south of Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire.
, has children suffering from birth defects.

Disabilities range from blindness, cerebral palsy, mental disorders, thalassemia, physical deformities and hearing and speech impairments to name a few.
The numbers of which conditions have gone up significantly [edit: add in Britain] since large numbers of close-cousin marrying Pakistanis settled there.
Doctors have termed generations of inter-family marriages in the village -- which has 350 households -- as the main cause behind birth defects in children. There are two major tribes in the village, Miya and Shpon, and unions between men and women from solely these two clans is the ongoing tradition.

Dr Muhammad Ali, a District Health Officer (DHO) at Charsadda's district hospital, says that first-cousin marriages result in children with genetic disorders. "Birth defects due to inter-family marriages is not just prevalent in Mian Kalay; this can happen anywhere in the world where there is inbreeding."

While residents are aware that off-spring of inter-family marriages are likely to have birth defects or disabilities, they continue with the practice due to cultural norms.
So they know better, but they refuse to so better. My sympathy meter just dropped back to zero.
A local journalist in Charsadda, Muhammad Tayeb, says all the men in the village belong to either of the two aforesaid tribes, and cannot marry other girls due to cultural restrictions.

Born as a flaccid baby, Salma Bibi, 36, is the mentally-challenged daughter of Mohammad Gul. Her father says they cannot let her walk independently in the house as she is too weak to control her movements.

Despite trying their utmost to get Salma treated, her condition remains the same. "Such genetic disorders in children are life-long and hard to be treated," says Dr Kashif Ali Khan of Peshawar's Lady Reading Hospital.

Her father also acknowledges that the increased prevalence of birth defects and deformities in Mian Kalay is due to children born out of consanguineous marriages.

"Inbreeding can cause problems in first, second and even third generation offspring," says Dr Ali.

The doctor discounts suggestions that environmental factors contribute to the birth defects and deformities, saying that a poor environment is indicated by conditions like diarrhoea and fluid build-up in infants, which has not been seen among the children of Mian Kalay.

However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
he does cite prolonged and delayed labor at the time of pregnancies as another reason for birth defects in children. "Whenever a delay occurs at the time of pregnancies due to lack of proper labour services, there is high likelihood of birth defects in newborns."

A study titled "Key factors in understanding differences in rates of birth defects identified" jointly carried out by Universities of Bradford and Leeds says that in Pakistain, 77 per cent of babies born with birth defects were to parents who were in consanguineous marriages.

Quoting the National Coalition for Health and Professional Education, Dr Kashif Ali Khan, a medical officer at the paediatric unit of LRH, says children born to first-cousin parents have a 5.1 -- 11.2pc risk of serious birth defects as compared to the general population risk of 3-4pc. He adds that an estimated 80-90% of marriages in the Charsadda village area are consanguineous.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
UN Security Council to meet on Israeli-Palestinian violence
The United Nations Security Council will hold a special meeting on Friday to discuss the recent spate of violence between Israel and the Palestinians in which 39 people have been killed over the past two weeks.

The meeting, which diplomats said was called at the request of council member Jordan, will include a briefing from the UN secretariat on the situation on the ground and will take place at 11 a.m. EDT (1500 GMT), the United Nations said on Thursday.

Kerry: US backs Israel's 'right to defend its existence'
Golly.
[AA.TR] The U.S. backs Israel's "right to defend its existence" America's top diplomat said Thursday, as Israeli authorities continue to demolish Paleostinian homes.

Saying the U.S. supported Israel's existence in Paleostine - which has been occupied by for almost 70 years - Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry
Former Senator-for-Life from Massachussetts, self-defined war hero, speaker of French, owner of a lucky hat, conqueror of Cambodia, and current Secretary of State...
's speech at Indiana University showed stronger support for Israel than recent U.S. statements.

"We strongly condemn the terrorist attacks against innocent civilians," Kerry said without blaming either side for the violence. "There is absolutely no justification for these reprehensible attacks."

Kerry's comments ahead of a Mideast visit next week came after the Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon accused the U.S. of "misreading" the Israeli-Paleostinian conflict.

The State Department said Wednesday that Israel used "excessive" force in handling recent festivities in East Jerusalem between Israelis and Paleostinians. The comments drew criticism from the Israeli government.

But in recent weeks, the U.S. has described attacks by Paleostinians as "acts of terrorism" but refrained from characterizing Israeli violence in the same manner.

Clashes continue in Israeli-occupied East Jerusalem, where this month alone more than 30 Paleostinians have been killed by Israeli security forces and 1,700 others injured.

Investigation into Arafat's Death Closed, But New One Needs to Begin (about Suha's assets)
[FamilySecurityMatters.org] On September 3rd, French prosecutors closed their investigation into the 2004 death of Palestinian Authority (PA) leader Yasser Arafat.

No autopsy was done at the time of his death as his widow, Suha, never requested one. Yet eight years later she had second thoughts. Claiming in 2012 her husband did not die a natural death but was the victim of a murder plot, French authorities opened an investigation.

As her husband lay dying in 2004, Suha-who had not seen him for the previous four years-raced to his bedside. It was not to profess her love for the Palestinian leader but to press him for information about his bank accounts. She quickly became "executor of a vast fortune," heading off PA leaders rushing to Arafat's side to do the same.
Ol' Suha hasn't been in the news much since she got to Yasser's deathbed and got the banking codes from him. Link to the news at the time, back in 2004. Seems like yesterday.
As the Palestinian people were struggling to survive, Arafat's wife, Suha, was not. In addition to receiving monthly payments of $200,000 from her husband, occasional deposits in the millions were made to her personal account-one alone of $11 million in the 2002/2003 timeframe. Living the high life in Paris, her monthly spending reportedly equaled what it would take to cover "the basic needs of five thousand Palestinian refugees in a place like Jabalya in the Gaza Strip."

But this apparently was not enough for Suha, who clearly saw an opportunity to get much more as her husband was dying.

It was well known that millions of dollars in aid given to the Palestinian Authority had failed to reach the Palestinian people. Arafat, as well as other PA leaders, established their own personal bank accounts into which much of these funds were deposited.

Armed with all the banking information she needed to access Arafat's accounts after his death, Suha cleverly positioned herself so that she held all the cards in negotiating with PA leaders for the release of the assets.

It is estimated Arafat, who controlled-according to CIA assessments-as much $6 billion in assets at one time, died with a mere $1 billion. Clearly, PA leaders were eager to get their hands on the money as well. While they eventually did, it was only after negotiating a settlement with Suha for an undisclosed amount.

An indication that Suha's settlement was substantial is evidenced by the Tunisian government's report a few years later her investments there alone totaled $40 million.

Arafat was not alone in sequestering for himself that which was not his for his own gain and to the detriment of the people whose wellbeing was in his charge.

It would be interesting to see what an accounting of the assets held in Arafat's accounts would reveal. It would be no surprise to learn much of it never made it into the hands of the Palestinian people needing it most, instead being transferred into the personal accounts of other PA leaders.

Top [Israeli] ministers criticize US officials over terror comments
Erdan accuses State Department of putting out 'idiotic declarations' equating Israeli and Palestinian actions; Ya'alon says Washington misguided in understanding conflict

Top ministers lashed out on Thursday at American officials for what they described as equivocation over Palestinian terror attacks and a US State Department statement that appeared to accept accusations that Israel has used excessive force in recent days.

Within minutes of the comments by Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, and Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon Thursday morning, a top Prime Minister's Office official informed cabinet ministers that they were being ordered by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to STFU cease all public criticism of American officials.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Russia accused of giving cluster bombs to Syrian regime
[AA.TR] A Geneva-based nongovernmental organization has accused Russia of providing the Syrian regime with new types of cluster bombs that end up killing large numbers of civilians.

"As of yet it is impossible to determine conclusively whether the new type of cluster bombs that are appearing in Syria are being used by Russia or Syria, but it is clear that [even] if Russia is not using them directly, they are providing them," Cluster Munition Coalition (CCMC) Director Megan Burke told Anadolu Agency on Tuesday.

Burke said that his organization, which is a global civil society campaign working to eradicate cluster munitions, also sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin
...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead...
on Oct. 2, urging Russia to not use cluster munitions on the grounds that such weapons killed people indiscriminately and had a disproportionate impact on civilians.

"It is worth noting that in the last year Russia added its voice to that of dozens of states which expressed concern
...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended...
at cluster munition use in Sudan and Ukraine.

"This would indicate Russia's support for the view that cluster munitions are an unacceptable weapon to be used in modern warfare and thus all the more reason why they should stop either using or supplying this weapons as part of the offensive in Syria," Burke said.

#4  The ISIS/ISIL in Iraq + Other will still have to be dealt with, i.e. defeated + destroyed as an organized Polity or Caliphate, when all is said + done in Syria.

Iff the Bammer's post-Jan. 2017 POTUS Successor(s) is another Anti-US US OWG Globalist, then Amerika = Not-America had better be prepared for more Bammer-esque, "Pro-US" = Anti-US MINIMALISM as per FP, + MORE POTENT, ENTRENCHED SOCIALISM = SOVIETISM? as per the Economy.

#5  The Russians seem to be a little more serious about conflicts than Obean's Kumbaya crowd. The Russians are following a different set of ROEs than those that were imposed on the U.S. forces. Obama and the U.S. have been diddling around for a couple of years with the ISIS psychopaths. You don't bring a war to an end unless you inflict sufficient pain on the other side.
