Nine Brotherhood men slain during Cairo police raid
[ArabNews] CAIR
...designated a terrorist group by the UAE...
O:
...Fred's automatic translation machine occasionally gets overexcited...
Egyptian security forces killed nine armed members of the outlawed Moslem Brüderbund in a raid on a Cairo home on Friday, security officials said.

"The Brotherhood members clashed with security forces," said one of the officials, adding that they were meeting to plan what he called "terrorist attacks."

The Brotherhood, which was removed from power by the army in 2013, has accused authorities in the Arab world's largest state of killing members it says were unarmed in similar operations.

In July, the Brotherhood called for a revolt after police potted 13 prominent members in a swoop on an apartment in the Cairo suburb of the 6th of October. The men's families and lawyers said they were unarmed. Among the dead in that raid was Nasser Al-Hafi, a prominent lawyer for the Brotherhood and a former politician. Egypt's Interior Ministry said the 13 men were plotting attacks.

Diplomats and analysts say Cairo's clampdown has pushed some members of the Brotherhood, which renounced violence decades ago, to take up arms against the state.

The group says it is committed to peaceful activism.

Egypt's military has announced it is winding down its largest campaign in the Sinai against radicals, following a 16-day operation in which it said scores of Daesh members were killed.

The army said the campaign in the Sinai Peninsula had "achieved its goals" in destroying myrmidon hideouts and equipment, in joint operations by special forces, armored divisions and the air force.

The next phase would see the military and police assert full control over the North Sinai towns of El-Arish, Sheikh Zuweid and Rafah, it said in a statement. Earlier, the military had announced having killed scores of Death Eaters and captured dozens.

Egypt says police killed militants who attacked Italian consulate
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Egyptian security forces on Friday killed nine holy warriors who took part in a kaboom at the Italian consulate in Cairo in July, the Interior Ministry said.

The ultra-hardline Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group, which has supporters based in Egypt's Sinai peninsula, had grabbed credit for that July attack which killed one person.

The Interior Ministry said three coppers were maimed in an exchange of fire with what it called "terrorists" killed in a raid on a house in Cairo on Friday. It said they were found with weapons, including belts used for suicide kabooms.

Hours before the Interior Ministry issued a statement, officials told Rooters that security forces killed nine members of the Moslem Brüderbund movement in the same operation. The group, whose top leaders have been sentenced to death in what human rights
...which are usually entirely different from personal liberty...
groups call unfair trials, says it is committed to peaceful activism.

"The Brotherhood members clashed with security forces," said one of the officials, adding that they were meeting to plan what he called "terrorist attacks".

Egypt's government describes holy warriors as bandidos hard boyz and makes no distinction between the Brotherhood, which renounced violence decades ago, and groups like Islamic State and Al Qaeda, arguing they share the same ideology.

Nigerian Military Claims Surrender of 200 Boko Haram Fighters
[AnNahar] Nigeria's military said more than 200 members of Boko Haram

surrendered Friday as troops regained control of the northeastern town of Banki, from where attacks had been launched into Cameroon
...a long, narrow country that fills the space between Nigeria and Chad on the northeast, CAR to the southeast. Prior to incursions by Boko Haram nothing ever happened there...
"Over 200 members of the terrorist organization Boko Haram have surrendered today (Friday) to the Nigerian troops in Banki town," army front man Sani Usman said in a statement.

There was no independent verification of the military's statement, the latest in a series of successes claimed by the army against the Islamists, including the destruction of Boko Haram camps.

Usman said Banki, in Borno state, was re-captured on Thursday.

The military had earlier claimed the arrest of 43 Boko Haram suspects and the release of 241 women and kiddies thought to have been held by the group there.

Boko Haram has previously used Banki to launch cross-border attacks, including in and around the Cameroon town of Amchide, where the Islamists clashed with security forces and there were failed suicide kabooms Tuesday.

Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has given his military commanders until early November to end the insurgency, which has claimed at least 17,000 lives and left more than two million homeless since 2009.

Security forces foil Houthi bid to infiltrate Saudi border village
[ArabNews] JAZAN: Saudi forces early on Thursday completed a two-day battle against Houthi
...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ...
infiltrators at the Jazan border.

Sources said that more than 40 Houthi fighters were killed as they were attempting to sneak into the Kingdom through Hathira, one of the border villages in Jazan. Hundreds of other forces later withdrew.

Membersof Houthi militias and the Elite Republican Guards of ousted Yemeni President President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh

attempted to control the village using snipers, Hawn and Katyusha missiles.

The sources described Houthi militia and Republican Guard operations as suicide kabooms where a group would storm Saudi armored vehicles stationed on the border, using light weapons; at the same time, a group from the back would help the attackers by launching sniper attacks as well as firing Katyushas and mortar shells. However,
ars longa, vita brevis...
all these attacks failed.
As dozens of the Houthis were killed on the first day, several of them withdrew only to return on the second day to attempte the same maneuvers.

Saudi forces used different kinds of artillery throughout the day while Apache helicopters conducted night operations along the entire borderline.
The Houthi militias and the Elite Republican Guards tried using different tactics in this battle. Some of their snipers buried themselves under the soil and they used fake soldier modules in an attempt to divert the attention of the Saudi forces.

Saudi commander killed in mine blast near Yemen border
[Iran Press TV] A senior Saudi commander has been killed in a mine blast in the country's southwestern province of Jizan near the border with war-torn Yemen.

Yemen's al-Masirah TV reported on Friday that the Saudi colonel and two other military staff, including a high-ranking officer, were slain in the al-Khobe region of the province during festivities with the Yemeni Ansarullah fighters supported by army units that had penetrated into the Saudi territory.

The Saudi media have also confirmed the death of the commander, identified as Hassan Ghashoum Aghili (seen below).

Yemeni forces have so far killed scores of Saudi military forces in border regions, as Riyadh continues its deadly aggression against the impoverished neighbor.

Earlier in the day, Saudi airborne assaults targeted positions in the southwestern Yemeni city of Ta'izz, leaving 13 people, including three children, dead. Several others were maimed in the aerial strikes.

Saudi warplanes also launched eight Arclight airstrikes on the central Yemeni province of Ma'rib. There is still no word on the possible casualties of the raids.

Europe
Many migrants falsely claim to be Syrians: Germany
[AlAhram] Germany estimates that 30 percent of incoming migrants claiming to be citizens of war-torn Syria are in fact from other countries, an interior ministry front man said Friday.

"It's an estimate based on the observations of officials on the ground, especially the federal police, the Office for Migration and Refugees and (EU border protection agency) Frontex," he said.

The front man stressed that Germany keeps no official statistics on asylum-seekers believed to be misstating their nationality.

Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere later said that "we're seeing fake Syrian passports, and there are signs of people claiming to be from Syria who don't speak a word of Arabic."

Germany is Europe's top destination for people fleeing war and misery amid Europe's greatest migrant influx since World War II and expects between 800,000 and one million newcomers this year.

Numbers have surged since Germany declared it would admit Syrians, even if they technically should have applied for refugee status in the first EU country they set foot in on their way to Germany.

A market in fake Syrian passports has sprung up, particularly in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, to help migrants and refugees enter the EU, the head of Frontex, Fabrice Leggeri, said earlier this month.

Two soldiers, 34 Kurdish rebels killed in Turkey clashes: Army
[AlAhram] Two Turkish soldiers and 34 Kurdish rebels have been killed in fighting in the southeast, where scores of people have died since the July breakdown of a ceasefire, the army said Friday.

The soldiers were killed in two separate attacks by the Death Eater Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) near Beytussebap district in Sirnak province on Thursday, the army's high command said in a statement.

The military responded with Arclight airstrikes on the PKK's positions, in which "34 terrorists" were killed, the statement added. It was not possible to independently confirm the losses in the separatists' camp.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

's predominantly Kurdish southeast and across the border in the mountains of northern Iraq.

The group has hit back hard, killing around 150 soldiers and police, according to pro-government media, which estimates the corpse count in the rebels' ranks at over a thousand.

The escalation shattered a grinding of the peace processor launched by Erdogan in 2012, which had raised hopes of an end to the PKK's three-decade insurgency, in which over 40,000 people have been killed.
Rudaw adds:
At least two Turkish soldiers were killed and 10 others maimed in intense festivities with the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the township of Beytussebap, some 250 kilometers southeast of Diyarbakir and bordering the Kurdistan region.

In a statement Friday, the Turkish Military Command announced the festivities with the PKK in the early hours of the day.

The statement said PKK guerrillas had attacked a military base in Beytussebap, west of Sirnak, where daily festivities have been taking place.

Curfews have been imposed in the areas close to the festivities and drones would find and target PKK retreats in retaliation, the statement warned. It also said the PKK suffered casualties, but did not elaborate further.

Last UK Resident to be Freed from Guantanamo after 13 Years
[AnNahar] Shaker Aamer, the last British resident held at Guantanamo Bay, is to be released by U.S. authorities to Britannia after over 13 years at the military prison, officials said Friday.

Saudi-born Aamer is alleged to have been a key British-based recruiter and financier for the al-Qaeda murderous Moslem network and purportedly worked for the late Osama bin Laden
... who doesn't live anywhere anymore...
in Afghanistan, according to U.S. military documents.

Aamer's lawyer Clive Stafford Smith said that his client, who was captured in Afghanistan in 2001, would probably not be released until the end of next month.

The move comes as President Barack Obama
I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money...
struggles to honor a six-year-old pledge to close the facility before leaving the White House in 2017.

"We have been notified by the U.S. government that it has decided to release Shaker Aamer to the UK," a British government front man said.

Aamer was captured in Tora Bora in northern Afghanistan in December 2001 before being transferred to Guantanamo in Cuba in February 2002, where he has been held ever since.

Stafford Smith called word of his release "great news, albeit about 13 years too late."

He added: "They only just gave notice to Congress, so that means that without robust intervention, Shaker and his family have to wait until October 25th at the earliest for their reunion."

Reprieve, a London-based human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
charity founded by Stafford Smith, said Aamer was first cleared for release in 2007.

A U.S. defense official speaking on condition of anonymity
... for fear of being murdered...
said the decision to release him had been taken "taking into consideration the robust security assurances" provided by Britannia about how the transfer would take place.

Neither side gave any details of what would happen to Aamer after he returns to Britannia.

- Cause celebre -
Obama signed an order to close the top-security facility in 2009 but has struggled to do so in the face of opposition in Congress and other countries reluctant to take in one-time terror suspects.

Some 114 detainees remain in the prison opened to hold terror suspects following the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Amid pressure for Aamer's release from MPs, newspapers and celebrities including Pink Floyd's Roger Waters, Prime Minister David Cameron
... has stated that he is certainly a big Thatcher fan, but I don't know whether that makes me a Thatcherite, which means he's not. Since he is not deeply ideological he lacks core principles and is easily led. He has been described as certainly not a Pitt, Elder or Younger, but he does wear a nice suit so maybe he's Beau Brummel ...
raised the case with Obama when he visited the White House in January.

Aamer was born in Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
in December 1968 and lived in the United States before settling in Britannia, where he married and became a resident in 1996. He and his wife have four children who live in London.

Reprive says he was volunteering for a charity in Afghanistan when he was captured in 2001.

Some supporters suggest the reason he has been held so long at Guantanamo is because he may have witnessed the torture of others.

A medical examination ordered by his lawyers in December 2013 revealed Aamer was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression, as well as migraine headaches, asthma and kidney pain.

Moazzam Begg, who was held for nearly three years at Guantanamo, said Aamer would struggle to rebuild his life.

"He's going to have a massive fight on his hands," Begg told BBC television.

"No amount of therapy and so forth will be able to replace those years. I think this will be a harder struggle for Shaker to deal with than the actual imprisonment."

(FC) front man Khan Wasey said FC and intelligence agencies' personnel conducted a raid in Gwadar and arrested 10 suspected bully boys.

The suspected murderous Moslems were involved in murder, extortion and kabooms in the area, Wasey said. Senior security officials are interrogating the suspects.

Security forces have intensified search operations in Gwadar district after a bully boy attack on Jiwani airport, near the Pak-Iran coastal border in the district on August 30.

Militants had shot up the airport, killing electronics superintendent Khalilullah. They also kidnapped, and later killed electronics engineer Mehmudullah Niazi.

Earlier in September, security forces claimed to have arrested eight 'militants' allegedly involved in the attack.

from where ISIS frequently launches attacks against Peshmerga positions inside the city.

The unidentified security official, quoted by Iraqi official media, said three bases where ISIS maintained "substantial military resources" were completely destroyed, including storage houses for ammunition and a number of vehicles.

Also south of Kirkuk, Kurdish Peshmerga forces launched an attack earlier this month and recaptured 13 villages from the murderous Moslems, in an effort to diminish ISIS shelling capabilities targeting Kurdish positions.

The Asayish Kurdish security forces have been patrolling the oil- rich city of Kirkuk since 2003. Peshmarga troops entered the city in June last year, when the Iraqi army abandoned the area prior to an ISIS offensive.

Kurdish authorities have said Peshmerga forces will remain in the city and provide security for different ethnic and religious communities in the disputed city, despite the Iraqi government's objections.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
News agency says IDF soldiers attacked its journalists
The news media as active belligerants:
AFP claims troops assaulted news hounds in West Bank, smashed equipment; army to probe incident at 'highest levels'

Two AFP journalists were assaulted Friday by Israeli soldiers who destroyed and seized their equipment in the West Bank, the news agency reported.

A video journalist with the agency, Italian Andrea Bernardi, was thrown to the ground and jabbed in the side with a weapon, AFP said. According to the report Bernardi was held on the ground by a soldier, one knee compressing his chest, until he managed to show his press card. Bernardi suffered bruised ribs and an injury under the eye.

AFP said the soldiers pointed their weapons at Bernardi and his colleague, Paleostinian photographer Abbas Momani. They also allegedly smashed a video camera and a camera for photographs and took away another camera and a mobile phone. Some of the alleged confrontation was caught on video.

At the time both journalists were wearing body armor clearly marked "Press," AFP said.

The pair had been covering festivities between Paleostinians and soldiers when some troops took them aside, swore at them in English and told them to stop recording events, AFP said.

AFP said it had protested to the Israeli military over the incident and said it intended to file an official complaint.

Army front man Colonel Peter Lerner told the agency that "disciplinary measures will be taken."

"The highest levels of command are aware of the incident," he said, specifying that this included the head of Israeli forces in the West Bank.

In an incident on April 24, the Paleostinian photographer manhandled Friday and a Paleostinian colleague had stones thrown at them by Israeli soldiers, AFP said.

That incident was filmed, and the army announced that disciplinary action would be taken against the soldiers involved.

Friday's festivities between Paleostinians and troops at Beit Furik came after the funeral of Ahmed Khatatbeh, 26, who died of his wounds after being shot by soldiers near Nablus in the northern West Bank. The army said he and another man had thrown a petrol bomb at a vehicle on a road to the Jewish settlement of Itamar.

Malaysian Police Arrest Three over Suspected Terror Plot
[AnNahar] Malaysian authorities have placed in durance vile
Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please!
three people including a Syrian and an Indonesian national on suspicion of planning terror attacks against domestic and foreign targets, police and news reports said Friday.

The announcement came a day after the U.S. and Australian embassies had warned their citizens to avoid a popular Kuala Lumpur tourist area on Thursday due to an unspecified security threat.

The detainees were planning to "attack important national assets, Western assets, and public spots," a statement by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim said.

The statement did not specify their nationalities, but Malaysian news outlets quoted Noor Rashid later telling news hounds they were a Malaysian, a Syrian and an Indonesian.

The police statement said one of the foreigners had travelled frequently to Yemen.
...which suggests Al Qaeda in Yemen, as the Houthis are a tad preoccupied just now.
On Thursday, the US and Australian embassies warned citizens to stay away from Jalan Alor, an outdoor dining strip in central Kuala Lumpur that is packed nightly with foreigners and locals.

Malaysian news outlets quoted Noor Rashid saying the arrests were related to the Jalan Alor threat, and that the detainees were taken into custody on Thursday.

"The operation is a result from information obtained from suspects arrested previously," the police statement said.

Moslem-majority Malaysia practices a moderate brand of Islam and has not seen any notable terror attacks in recent years.

But concern has risen in the multi-faith nation over growing hardline Islamic views and the country's potential as a bully boy breeding ground.

Authorities say dozens of Malaysians have traveled to Syria to fight for the radical Islamic State

in its civil war there, and warn they may seek to return home and import its ideology.

Over the past year, police have arrested numerous suspects whom they say were IS sympathizers plotting attacks. Last month, police said 10 Malaysians were arrested for fostering suspected links with the Islamic State and planning attacks in the country.

Opposition politicians, however, say the terror arrests over the past year have been shrouded in secrecy, making it difficult to gauge the actual threat level.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Reports of Chinese warships heading to Syria to back up Russia
via wikileaks who tweeted link
[Fortruss.blogspot] "An Arab news source [Al Masdar News] reports that a military contingent of the PRC is on the way to Latakia and will arrive in Syrian ports any day. Chinese transport with military cargo was spotted on Tuesday morning, passing through the Suez canal.

Information about the Chinese military experts heading to Tartus was confirmed by the commander of the Syrian army. The report concludes that Moscow will create in Syria an anti-terrorist coalition that will become the alternative version of the military alliance formed by the US for dropping supplies to ISIS. Military entrance of China into the struggle for Syria will be an important addition to today's statement by the Iranian Foreign Ministry. At a press conference with "Russia Today" deputy foreign minister of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian stated that Iran will fight ISIS together with Russia. Notably Amir talked not just about an alliance, but a creation of a broad military coalition.

"We welcome the Russian President's proposal on establishment of a common front in a fight against terrorism and are even ready in realizing this initiative to carry out joint operations and cooperate together," - said deputy foreign minister of Iran.

'Terrorism' as a convenient cover for action. Who knew ?

What is interesting is that Russia would even require additional assistance from China or anyone else, with their challenge in Syria.

Who says they asked the Chinese to come?
Seems to me Russia, China, and USA compete for Iran's friendship---a rare show of silliness.

Internal conflict hit ranks of Assyrian 'Sutoro' forces north Syria
[ARA] Clashes broke out between members of the Assyrian armed forces of Sutoro in the northeastern Syrian city of Qamishli, activists reported on Friday.

Rifts erupted between two units of the Sutoro forces in Qamishli city over power. The disputes turned violent when a unit responsible for protecting the city of Derik (al-Malikiyah) arrived in Qamishli and shot up fellow Sutoro forces there.

At least four members of the Sutoro were maimed during the festivities.

A front man for the Assyrian Sutoro forces told ARA News that the rifts have been caused by lack of coordination between the central leadership in Qamishli and the local units in the neighboring areas.

"Members of the Derik unit protested the growing power of Qamishli members of the Sutoro. All decisions are being issued in Qamishli without delegating other local units," said the source, who preferred to stay anonymous.

Political activist Raman Khallow told ARA News in Qamishli that the unprecedented internal conflict in the ranks of the Assyrian forces "indicates institutional weakness".

"The decision-making process is monopolized by the Sutoro's power center in Qamishli, while hundreds of members in other areas are obliged to follow the orders," he said.

The Assyrian forces of Sutoro include more than 1000 fighters. The group is responsible for the protection of Christian districts and villages in the Kurdish region northeast Syria.

Since its establishment in 2013, the Sutoro declared its allegiance to the PYD-linked Auto-Administration and is operating in cooperation with the Kurdish forces of the People's Protection Units (YPG).

YPG bombs ISIS headquarters in Syria's Jarabulus
[ARA] Kurdish forces of the People's Protection Units (YPG) launched an attack on headquarters of the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
radical group (ISIS) in Jarabulus city north of Aleppo, near the border with The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
, Kurdish sources reported on Friday.

The YPG forces have targeted several ISIS positions in Jarabulus with mortars and heavy artillery.

YPG fighter Nuraddin Gaban told ARA News on the phone that the Kurdish forces launched the attack from its bases in the villages of Zor Maghar, Nasiriya and Atto east of Jarabulus.

"Our shelling hit at least five ISIS targets in Jarabulus city on Friday, killing and injuring dozens of terrorists," he said.

The YPG leadership has deployed hundreds of fighters alongside the Euphrates River in the eastern countryside of Jarabulus in preparation for storming ISIS strongholds in the area.

"Our forces have made a remarkable advance towards Jarabulus city after liberating the western countryside of Kobane. The anti-ISIS operations will continue until reassuring our people's safety from this terrorist group," Gaban added.

"We are ready to storm the city of Jarabulus and liberate it from ISIS terrorists. We are waiting for orders from our leadership," the YPG member said.

The source revealed a "high level of coordination" between the Kurdish forces and the U.S.-led coalition, which has been bombing ISIS positions in the region for more than a year.
