| Maoist militant killed in Davao Oriental |

| [Tempo] A New People's Army militant was killed in a clash with Philippine troops on Tuesday afternoon in Lupon, Davao Oriental. Military spokesman Captain Alberto Caber said that troops were on patrol in the area when fired upon by the NPA militants. The 45-minute firefight that ensued resulted in the death of a militant and the recovery of weapons.. Caber said no casualties were reported by the military while local residents reported five more casualties on the militant side. |
