[NRA-ILA] Numerous studies conducted by academic researchers and by the federal government have shown that criminals do not use legal markets to obtain guns. And now we have more evidence of this reality, this time looking at criminals in Chicago.
Philip J. Cook, Susan T. Parker, and Harold A. Pollack conducted interviews with criminals being held in the Cook County Jail. Their primary findings were that criminals get guns from their "social network," i.e. friends and persons known to them, but generally not from the various legal sources available to them.
They do not buy guns in gun stores. They do not get guns at gun shows. They do not buy them from Internet sources. The study even found that criminals only rarely steal guns.

So what. The Left's game is to punish everyone for the acts of a few if it means more power for them. It's all media based. The old saw about 'dog bites man' is not news. It's always the exception that gets the run in the propaganda mill for the Inner Party narative. Facts, truth be damned. And then they wonder why their programs and plans don't seem to work out well. "We meant well"

The study even found that criminals only rarely steal guns.
Considering that the study-link in the article is bad, one is left to merely conject. They get 'em in gift bags? Prizes at Chuck E. Cheese's?
[The study] concluded that since criminals do not hold guns long, “disrupting” the supply chain would have a positive effect on criminal gun use... But how this “disruption” can be achieved is not spelled out or suggested.

For generations, Freshmen cadets at the United States Military Academy have marked the end of summer training with a huge nighttime pillow fight, but this year the fight turned bloody as some cadets swung pillowcases packed with hard objects that split lips, broke at least one bone, dislocated shoulders and knocked cadets unconscious. The brawl left 30 cadets injured, including 24 with concussions. Though talk about the brawl on August 20 had circulated on social media, West Point did not confirm it until Thursday.
Academy spokesman Lt. Col. Christopher Kasker said, "West Point applauds the cadets’ desire to build esprit and regrets the injuries to our cadets. We are conducting appropriate investigations into the causes of the injuries."
Video of the fight showed crowds of cadets, some wearing body armor as well as helmets, surging together in a central quad, their shouts echoing off the stone walls of the surrounding barracks. As the plebes collided into a boil of white pillows, pummeling one another in the fading light, glow sticks flew through the air and an impromptu cavalry of riders in laundry carts dashed in, cushions swinging. At one point, a smoke grenade appeared to go off.
Photos posted later on Twitter show some with bloody pillows and bloody faces, and at least one person being taken aboard an ambulance. As the scope of injuries became clear, academy staff members went door to door in the barracks giving quick concussion checks.
An unnamed upperclassman, who was apparently observing from the sidelines, wrote on social media, "My plebe was knocked unconscious and immediately began fighting when he came to. I was so proud I could cry."
West Point pillow fights have existed since at least 1897, but there have been no other reports over the decades of injury until recently. In 2012, a cadet put a lockbox in a pillowcase, injuring others, and in response, the 2013 fight was canceled.

The man was named "Abdul"? That sounds like a Presbyterian name. No? Then an Amish name, perhaps? No?

[ARABNEWS] A lawyer for the Maldives' tossed in the slammer Please don't kill me! former president was stabbed in the islands' capital ahead of a visit by his international legal team, including leading human rights ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions... activist Amal Clooney, his party said Saturday.
Lawyer Mahfooz Saeed underwent emergency surgery and was in a stable condition following the attack Friday evening in Male, ex-leader Mohammed Nasheed's Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) said.
"There were many people who saw the incident. The attackers were also caught on CCTV cameras," Shauna Aminath, a spokeswoman for the MDP, of which Saeed is also a member, told AFP.
The party believes the attack was politically motivated, she said.
Amnesia Amnesty International condemned the assault and called on the Maldivian government to bring the perpetrators to justice.
"This vicious attack must not go unpunished -- Maldives authorities must ensure that human rights defenders can work free from fear of reprisals and that those responsible are held to account," the human rights group said in a statement.
The attack came as London-based Clooney, whose husband is actor George Clooney, is due to travel to the Maldives next week to meet with Nasheed.

[DAWN] Police said Saturday they have tossed in the calaboose Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out! and imprisoned a Christian man accused of blasphemy in Punjab's Kasur district.
Blasphemy is a hugely sensitive issue in Pakistain, with even unproven allegations often prompting mob violence, and acquittals in court are rare.
"A Christian labourer named Pervaiz Masih was arrested earlier this week and sent on judicial remand for passing derogatory remarks against the Prophet (PTUI!)," a local police official told AFP on condition of anonymity.
Ali Hussain, a senior police official in the area, confirmed the incident.
He said the accused, a labourer, was working with several Moslem colleagues when the incident occurred.
"They were working on a small construction site, one Moslem fellow was listening to religious speech while the accused was working," he said, adding that when the accused told his colleague to get back to work they had an argument during which the Christian man made derogatory remarks about the prophet of Islam.
"We have started the paperwork but haven't done much else under section 295C against the accused. The alleged incident occurred in Kasur district, around 54 kilometres (34 miles) southeast of Lahore."
Under Pakistain's stringent blasphemy laws, insulting the Prophet (PTUI!) carries the death penalty, though the country has never executed anyone for the crime.
But anyone convicted, or even just accused, of insulting Islam, risks a violent and bloody death at the hands of vigilantes.
Bonded labourer Shehzad Masih and his pregnant wife Shama Bibi were beaten by a mob of 1,500 people then thrown into a furnace last year in a crazed reaction to rumours they had thrown pages of the Koran into the garbage.

BLUF:
[Huffpoo] It's time for real truth and then reconciliation in America from the bottom up and top down. And it must begin with teaching truthfully American history. And while we can't just imitate South Africa's or Germany's or Rwanda's or other countries' processes we can learn from them in designing a process that fits America's history and context if we are to redeem our future for our children's sake. There are thoughtful beginnings with Brown University's examination of the slave trade's role in its history and Trinity Church Boston's and Trinity Church Providence's examination of their historic engagement with slavery. Why I so love reading the Huffington. Good Multicultural dogma sprinkled with communist themes are so difficult to find these days. Wait, was that a redundancy ?
Perhaps other colleges, universities, churches, denominations and other prominent institutions which benefited from slavery and the slave trade should consider following their examples to set history straight. All of us would benefit from reading Ebony and Ivy by Craig Steven Wilder and supporting efforts by the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama led by Bryan Stevenson, author of Just Mercy, to put up markers indicating where slave markets existed and documenting lynchings in our not very distant past. Yes, that 'Y' in the road we are approaching in the intersection of 'culture war' and terrorism. Or was that the previous 'Y' we past an hour ago ?

Yes, let's keep the hate alive. AmeriKKKa is a bad, bad, bad country, and communism is a good, good, good ideology that we need to implement quickly.

All that's needed to derail this is a good class-action suit filed on behalf of those seeking reparations. Several hundred million will go to the lawyers, and the "reparations" for the class will consist of the usual $1.59 discount coupon for, I dunno, a payday check cashing location, perhaps...
