[DETROIT.CBSLOCAL] A group is planning to unveil an 8-foot-tall bronze statue featuring a goat-headed Satan in bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit ... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang... during a gathering that's being billed as the "largest public satanic ceremony in history." We've descended to the public worship of Evil.
The Satanic Temple has said Saturday's private event will be open only to people with tickets, $25 each. Invitations to "The Unveiling" summoned guests to prepare for "a night of chaos, noise, and debauchery... Come dance with the Devil and experience history in the making." The event location is not being announced publicly and is known only to those with tickets. I doubt the statue's going to come to life or that anybody's going to turn into a pillar of salt.
The group said the bronze Baphomet monument, which weighs about one ton and has never been seen before in public, "is not only an unparalleled artistic triumph, but stands as a testament to plurality and the power of collective action." The statue, which backed by an inverted pentagram and flanked by statues of two young children gazing up at the creature, shows Satan with horns, hooves, wings and a beard.
The group went on to say the unveiling event "will serve as a call-to-arms from which we'll kick off our largest fight to date in the name of individual rights to free exercise against self-serving theocrats."
Photography is strictly prohibited at the 18-and-older event unless, of course, you're a $75 VIP ticket holder. Those partygoers will have an exclusive opportunity to be photographed seated on the Baphomet monument.

this only ticks off the abrahamic religions - only 3 religions out of hundreds in human history, and all three evolved in one tiny geographic box of the middle east among bronze-age primitives who were not even the most advanced humans on the planet at the time.
Every religion thinks it is true, and yet they cannot all be right. why would a divine entity bother revealing itself to those peasants and not the far more advanced chinese or mayans?

But it isn't aimed at them. It's aimed squarely at the Christian majority -- still about 70% of the American population, and perhaps even more of the population remaining in Detroit -- to rub their noses in the fact that they can't do a thing about it. Also the Aztecs, should there be any in Detroit, as they all were converted to Christianity centuries ago, as were the followers of Set, Zeus and Aphrodite. The rest of your list are of such vanishingly small proportions of the American citizenry, and even smaller than that in Detroit, as to be of no account whatsoever in the equation.
It should be noted that the invitation is to a night of debauchery, not a night of Satan-worship, so it seems safe to assume that most will be there for debauchery rather than free exercise of religion. It all sounds drearily vulgar, the kind of thing where everyone pretends as hard as ever they can to look like they're having a wonderful time instead of passing around the usual diseases, throwing up in corners, and going home with a blinding headache.

I smell an opportunity here. The scrap price of bronze is $1.45 a pound. So here is the estimate:
Scrap gross value: 2000 lb x $1.45/lb = $2900
Less expenses: boom truck and statue removal $500
Less priest or clergyman exorcising statue until it is melted $200
Net profit: $2200
Pass profit on to those hurt by Satan's servants or whatever you feel is worthwhile: priceless

Inside his home, detectives discovered more than 1,200 guns, scopes, 6.5 tons of ammunition, bows and arrows, knives, machetes and $230,000 in cash after he was found on Friday. Residents of the townhome complex where the man lived were evacuated Saturday as investigators removed the weapons and ammunition.
They also located eight of the 14 vehicles stashed around Los Angeles registered to the man, including an SUV designed to drive underwater.
Who he was and how he came to accumulate the arsenal and vehicles are questions authorities are still trying to answer.
Veteran defense attorney Harland Braun represents the man’s fiancee Catherine Nebron and identified him as Jeffrey Alan Lash.
That’s also the name authorities are working with and they’re in touch with a relative to try to officially identify the body, said Craig Harvey, the coroner’s chief of investigations.
Lash and Nebron were together for 17 years and she believed him when he told her that he worked as an undercover operative for unnamed government agencies, Braun said Wednesday.
“The story itself sounds totally crazy but then how do you explain all this?” Braun said. “There’s no evidence he was a drug dealer or he stole these weapons, or had any criminal source of income, no stolen property, all the stuff you’d look for.”

Follow the money...to some management consulting firm with contracts in various countries.
I'd like to get a look at his passport(s) and see where he's been.
If everything is legally owned he is either way over the top with paranoia or he's a legit black operative. If he's one of those, this will quietly disappear and the girlfriend will go live in Hawaii on his pension.

[DAWN] At least 19 people were killed in flooding and torrential rains in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa ... formerly NWFP, still Terrorism Central... 's Chitral district late on Friday, KP's Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said.
The PDMA has confirmed 29 deaths since torrential rains and flooding began in the affected district. At least 10 people have died in Saht, eight in Uthol, two people each in Broze, Gohkir, and Lone, and one person each in Reshun, Ayun, Hingel, Green Lasht, and Warinj.
The latest casualties come as flooding and torrential rains wreaked havoc in most parts of the affected district on Friday and Saturday.
According to local administration, the most affected area in Chitral was the Mulkhow union council, where more than a dozen people, including children and women, were reportedly missing.
Meanwhile, ...back at the comedy club, Boogie sadly admitted that he was a better peeping Tom than he was a comedian... area police said so far 11 dead bodies have been recovered and rescue and search operations were underway to locate missing persons.

The United States Geological Survey said the tremor struck at a relatively shallow depth of 26 kilometers with its epicenter located 15 kilometers (nine miles) to the northeast of Islamabad.

The local security officials confirmed that a family was stopped to continue with their illegitimate activities and the suspects were arrested by police.
Provincial police front man Syed Sarwar Hussaini said the family was suspected of superstitious practices and was inviting women to their home where they were encouraged to take part in illegitimate activities -- prostitution.
He said the illegitimate activities by the family was discovered after a man was looking to eliminate the family through food poisoning or using explosives but was stopped by the police.
According to Hussaini, the man was identified as Din Mohammad who was visiting the family for superstitious practices and found regarding the family's involvement in promoting prostitution as well.
Hussaini also added that further investigations have been launched by the police to ascertain facts regarding the case.
This is not the first time illegitimate activities have been uncovered in northern Kunduz province but numerous incidents have taken place in the past where the women and girls have been murdered for taking part in such activities.
However, there's more than one way to skin a cat... the families and individuals continue to their activities despite urban patrols by police to restrict such activities and maintain order.

A former Communist-era prison commander has been sentenced to 20 years in jail after being convicted of crimes against humanity in the first such trial in Romania.
Alexandru Visinescu, 89, ran the notorious Ramnicu Sarat prison from 1956 to 1963, where inmates were allegedly tortured and starved. At least 12 people are said to have died as a result of the abuse.
Mr Visinescu denied the charges, saying he was just following orders.
