At least 10 Taleban militants were allegedly beheaded by Daesh in Afghanistan where both are locked in a battle for control of many regions, Efe news agency reported on Wednesday.
A group of Daesh insurgents on Tuesday intercepted a dozen Taleban militants in a remote area in the eastern province of Nangarhar and beheaded them, said Numan Hatifi of the 201st Corps of the Afghan National Army.
The Taleban militants were captured while trying to flee after a gun battle with the Afghan security forces, official source said.
Dozens of insurgents have died or been injured in the last few weeks in armed clashes between the Taleban and the Daesh to gain control over several regions of Nangarhar.

It seems that Daesh has ambitions to expand the "caliphate" with new recruits in Afghanistan and to take over the opium market in Western Afghanistan. They are likely picking up new enemies as well. These reports have been showing since last Spring. My conspiratorial noggin tends to think these reports are being promoted by both Daesh as well as Afghan officials for different reasons.
[Tolo News] At least 43 holy warriors have been killed and 11 others injured in a series of coordinated operations over the past 24 hours by the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a statement on Wednesday.
In addition, two others were placed in durance vile I ain't sayin' nuttin' widdout me mout'piece! during the operations.
The operations were conducted in Takhar, Kunduz, Badakhshan, Balkh, Farah, Kunar, Baghlan, Kandahar and Paktika ...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo... provinces, the statement said.
"During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused 10 different types of IEDs placed by enemies of Afghanistan for destructive activities in Kunar, Balkh, Uruzgan, Maidan Wardak, Farah, Nimroz and Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... provinces," it said.
The MoI, however, did not comment on whether any security force members were maimed during the operations.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Gunmen on a cycle of violencerubbed out two members of Egypt's tourism and antiquities police force on a road near the Giza pyramids on Wednesday, security sources said, in a rare attack near a tourist site.
No group immediately grabbed credit for the attack but Islamist Lions of Islam bent on toppling the Cairo government have in the past killed hundreds of police and soldiers, usually at checkpoints and barracks or cop shoppes.
Attacks have increased since then army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sissi led the overthrow of Islamist President Mohammad Mursi after mass protests in 2013 against his troubled year in office.
A shift towards attacks on softer tourist and economic targets could undermine Egypt's efforts to win back foreign tourists scared away by political and economic turmoil since a 2011 uprising which ousted veteran autocrat Hosni Mubarak ...The former President-for-Life of Egypt, dumped by popular demand in early 2011... The security sources said Wednesday's incident happened about 30 meters from a security checkpoint leading to the tourist site on the western outskirts of Cairo.

Should have started a long time ago with this guy...
[Libya Herald] Tuareg and Tebu elders in Obari have agreed a ceasefire as a prelude to a permanent peace deal.
"A total ceasefire has been agreed which started at midnight last night," the Libya Herald has been told by Osama Al-Thinni, a Tuareg local activist in the town but forced by the fighting to move to Sebha. "Also elders have agreed that the ceasefire agreement is a preface to a permanent peace agreement which they are both currently working on," he added.
The agreement was ratified at a large meeting yesterday evening in Tuareg-majority Obari between elders of the two communities.
There have been numerous attempts by leading Libyan figures to mediate a an end to the fighting between the Tuaregs and Tebus which broke out last September. Last month, Prime Minister Abdullah Al-Thinni met with representatives from both communities but despite this, fierce festivities continued.
The latest efforts are have involved the head of the Libyan armed forces, General Khalifa Hafter. According to the pro-House of Representatives office in Beida of the Libyan news agency LANA, Hafter has met a delegation from the Council of Tuareg Tribes and agreed to their request and that from the Tebus to mediate a permanent peace between. The meeting took place in Marj this week.
Last night's agreement in Obari, however, appears to have nothing to do with the Prime Minister or Hafter or the main leaders of the Tebus and Tuareg. It is an agreement between local elders faced with the fact that life in Obari is now "impossible", as Osama Al-Thinni put it. "There is no water, no food, no hospital." The elders had been pushed to agree a deal to put an end to the bloody war, and without outside intervention, he said.

[AnNahar] At least six people were killed on Wednesday in an kaboom in the northeast Nigeria ... a particularly crimson stretch of Islam's bloody border... n city of Maiduguri, a civilian vigilante assisting the military against Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... and a witness told AFP.
"We have so far recovered six dead bodies. We are still working at the scene, so the casualties may rise," said Danlami Ajaokuta of the blast on the Baga Road, which happened at 5:30 pm (1630 GMT).
Maiduguri has been a regular target for Boko Haram Islamists since the group began its insurgency six years ago and has been hit four times since last Friday.
Early on Saturday, the snuffies launched an attack with rocket-propelled grenades that was repelled by the military but hours later a jacket wallah killed 26 at a city mosque.
On Tuesday, there was again shelling from positions on the outskirts of the city and another suicide kaboom, this time at a cattle market that left at least 13 people dead.
The spate of attacks came after new President Muhammadu Buhari took office on Friday and described Boko Haram as "godless" and "mindless" in his inaugural speech.
Ajaokuta, a civilian vigilante who works in the Baga Road area, said the blast happened at a garage opposite a military unit and it appeared to have been caused by explosives left nearby.
One mechanic, who asked not to be identified, added: "I had just gone to get water when the kaboom happened. I would have been among the victims.
"The garage was full with colleagues who were chatting at the time. I'm afraid we may lose many of our friends."
The mechanic did not give a corpse count. Ajaokuta said one suspect seen nearby before the blast was taken away by soldiers.
Buhari, who himself survived a suspected Boko Haram attack in the northern city of Kaduna last July, has pledged to move the military's command center from the capital Abuja to Maiduguri.
Maiduguri holds special significance for Boko Haram. The group was founded in the city in 2002.

[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Saudi Arabia on Wednesday revealed the identity of the man behind last week’s mosque attack in the eastern city of Dammam, that left four killed and four injured.
Wearing women’s clothing as a disguise, the suicide bomber - identified as 20-year-old Khaled al-Wahbi al-Shemari - detonated the explosive belt he was wearing at entrance of the Al-Anoud mosque, the Saudi interior ministry said.
The interior ministry also said that it has identified 16 other people linked with that attack and an earlier bombing on a mosque in the eastern al-Qatif governorate, which killed 21.
The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militant group claimed both attacks.
The ministry is offering $270,000 to whoever provides information leading to the arrest of the suspects and $1.9 million to anyone who helps thwart a militant attack.

The cell includes two members, based in Iran, and accused of having recruited holy warriors in the Gulf state for the little-known Al-Ashtar Brigades, the prosecution said late Tuesday.
It said five recruits had traveled to Iraq for "military training on the use of explosives and weapons, with the aim of attacking police".
Police have tossed in the calaboose Drop the rod and step away witcher hands up! 10 suspected cell members on suspicion of "forming and joining a terrorist group and attempting to kill coppers, possessing and using explosives, and weapons training", the prosecution said.

[AnNahar] French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said Tuesday that 110 jihadists who left French territory to fight with the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group had died in Iraq and Syria.
"More than 860 individuals have spent time in these countries, 471 of which are still there and 110 of which are dead," Valls told the Senate as it studies an intelligence bill approved by politicians in May.
Nine of those died in suicide kabooms, said Valls.
La Belle France, along with Belgium, has seen the largest numbers of citizens or residents leaving to join the Islamic State jihadist group, which has seized large parts of Syria and Iraq.
The phenomenon has raised fears that radicalized citizens may return to carry out attacks on home soil.
A new intelligence bill giving the state sweeping powers to spy on its citizens has been in the works for some time but gained impetus after a jihadist killing spree in January in Gay Paree left 17 dead.
It is now before the upper house Senate, dominated by the right-wing opposition UMP which has just been renamed The Republicans.
An interesting choice...
Valls defended the bill which has been criticized for being overly intrusive, and said intelligence gathering "would target people who present a real threat to our security."
After the hearing Wednesday, Wright's attorney and the Muslim Justice League accused authorities of breaking the law
The two men identified in a terrorism investigation in Boston allegedly planned to behead a police officer, sources told WBZ-TV Wednesday.
CNN reports Rahim had originally plotted to kill political activist Pamela Geller.
At approximately 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2, authorities say Rahim called Wright and told him that he had changed his plans, and now wanted to "go after" the "boys in blue" in Massachusetts.
Investigators are continuing to look for other people both men were communicating with.
After the hearing Wednesday, Wright's attorney and the Muslim Justice League accused authorities of breaking the law
Shortly after Rahim was killed, federal agents and RI State Police showed up at a house on Aspinet Drive in Warwick. Neighbors said officers went into the house with their weapons drawn, but no shots were fired.
The neighbors said a man in his late 20's has lived in the house for quite some time. According to them, the man recently grew a beard, and started wearing robes and acting strange.

Homeland Security bulletin sent by the Boston Regional Intelligence Center after Tuesday’s officer-involved shooting warns law enforcement and military personnel to be on guard and watch what they post on social media.
The information, confirmed by a WBZ source, said the shooting reinforces the need for officer safety.
Law enforcement and military personnel are told to avoid posting their home or work address, location names, or phone numbers online, and to take other precautions on social media.
“Review personal and family members social media sites to avoid revealing law enforcement affiliation,” the bulletin said. “Limit who can view your social media sites; set the privacy and security settings to the highest possible level.”

Time to dust off my proposal for the "Alec Baldwin Mojave Vocational and Education Center."
According to the Brookline school superintendent, Usaamah Rahim attended Brookline High School for three years, beginning in his sophomore year in 2004, and graduated in 2007. In his yearbook picture, he wore a Yankees baseball hat and did not have a senior quote.
The superintendent said Usaamah Rahim was in Saudi Arabia for his freshman year.
School officials said Usaamah Rahim also attended the Baker School, an elementary K-8 school in south Brookline.

Bostonglobe.com (behind the paywall) has stated relatives of Rahim will give a press conference - at the parking lot where he was shot. I can almost smell the BS from here.
Terror suspect Usaamah Rahim, who was fatally shot Tuesday after waving a military knife at police officers in Boston, called his father that day to say "his goodbyes," according to a law enforcement official. The conversation was caught by investigators who had been monitoring Rahim's email and phone activity during 24-7 surveillance.
Law enforcement officials believe they have tracked down everyone involved in the Boston plot.
The FBI had been watching Rahim for a few years and said his behavior had changed in that time. He had made social media threats to police officers, they said.
"We are deeply concerned about what the police justification was for approaching Mr. Rahim without securing a warrant from a judge," someone close to Rahim's family said.

BS is coming in with the tide. I found this on the internet today, won't bother mentioning the source. Kinda reminds me of the stuff I was finding on the afternoon of 9/11/2001:
So just like that, major American media outlets converted someone about whom they knew nothing into a dangerous terrorist in the middle of executing an ISIS-related terror plot. And the heroic law enforcement officials didn’t just kill an ISIS Terrorist on the loose in America, but likely disrupted a vicious sleeper cell. All of that was achieved without a shred of evidence or investigation: just mindlessly repeating the self-justifying claims of the police agents who had just killed him.
Even the police’s version of events, if believed, raises all sorts of questions. They say Rahim was under “24-hour surveillance” by the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, and were monitoring him for at least two years. When they approached him, they had no arrest or search warrant, but instead simply wanted to question him. When they did so, he pulled out his knife, and when he refused to put it away and walked toward them, they shot and killed him.
There are numerous questions raised by all of this. If Rahim was so dangerous, why didn’t the constant surveillance result in any charges?
A knife-wielding man killed by the terror investigators who had him under surveillance was confronted because he had bought knives and talked of an imminent attack on "boys in blue," the FBI said Wednesday.
Definitely suicide by cop...
Usaama Rahim, 26, plotted for at least a week to attack police, the FBI said in a complaint against a family member who was arrested Tuesday, the day Rahim was shot to death. On Wednesday, David Wright, who authorities say is Rahim's nephew, was ordered held on a charge of conspiracy with intent to obstruct a federal investigation.
The FBI said Rahim, who had previously discussed beheadings, bought three fighting knives and a sharpener on or before May 26 and he told 24-year-old Wright on Tuesday he would begin trying to randomly kill police officers.
An affidavit written by an FBI agent assigned to Boston's Joint Terrorism Task Force refers to a recorded conversation between Rahim and Wright in which Wright made a comparison to "thinking with your head on your chest." The FBI said that was a reference to Islamic State propaganda videos showing severed heads on the chests of beheading victims.
The FBI affidavit said Rahim initially told Wright about a plan to behead someone outside Massachusetts. On Sunday, Rahim, Wright and an unidentified man met on a beach in Rhode Island to "discuss their plans," the FBI affidavit said.
"Wright indicated that he agreed with Rahim's plan and supported it," the affidavit states.
Authorities searched a home in Warwick, Rhode Island, on Tuesday and Wednesday but wouldn't confirm the search was related to the investigation.
Early Tuesday morning, Rahim called Wright and told him he had changed his plans and no longer planned to kill someone in another state, the affidavit says. Instead, he said he was going to "go after" the "boys in blue," it says, an apparent reference to police officers.
During the recorded conversation, Rahim told Wright, "Yeah, I'm going to be on vacation right here in Massachusetts. ... I'm just going to, ah, go after them, those boys in blue. Cause, ah, it's the easiest target and, ah, the most common is the easiest for me," the affidavit says.
The FBI said the phrase "going on vacation" refers to committing violent jihad.
Authorities allege that during that conversation, Wright advised Rahim to destroy his smartphone, wipe his laptop computer and prepare his will.
...drop some acid, do some blow, drill a hooker or two, the usual preparation for sudden jihadi syndrome...
On Wednesday, authorities moved swiftly to manage perceptions of the shooting, which killed a black man whose family is well known among Muslims and African-Americans in Boston.
Rahim's mother is a nurse at Boston University. His older brother, Ibrahim Rahim, is a scholar known for preaching after the Boston marathon bombings that violence is anti-Islamic.
Did he preach that in English or Arabic?
Ibrahim Rahim initially posted a message on Facebook alleging police repeatedly shot his brother in the back while he was on a cellphone calling their father for help. But his version unraveled Wednesday after police showed their video of the confrontation to community leaders.
Somebody is finally getting smart about knocking down the stage management the progressive left does with these incidents...
Darnell Williams, president of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, said he could "150 percent corroborate" the police account. The images clearly show that Usaama Rahim "was not on a cellphone and was not shot in the back," Williams said.
The video, which police did not make available publicly, shows that Rahim menaced the officers with a large military-style knife and they initially backed away before shooting him when he refused to drop it, police said.

Photo of Usaama is from the Brookline high school yearbook. He's 26, which means he was about 12 or 13 on 9/11/2001. Was he given that name at birth, or did he adopt it later?
Recall there were about half a dozen "Hitler"s in the NYC phone directory in about 1938, but zero by 1945.

So his brother, Ibrahim Rahim, is a "scholar known for preaching after the Boston marathon bombings that violence is anti-Islamic."
now that we know he's a LIAR, how seriously can we take the statement above?

The photo of David Wright in this Fox News report is of recent vintage. Note the well-groomed appearance and brilliantly whote, perfectly straight teeth. Nation of Islam or traitional Sunni? Incidentally, from the article:
Rahimâs alleged associate, David Wright, 25, appeared in U.S. District Court in Boston to face a charge of obstructing a federal investigation by destroying electronic evidence on Rahimâs smartphone. A detention hearing was scheduled for June 19 after prosecutors said he was a flight risk.
Wright allegedly attempted to destroy Rahimâs cell phone and conceal evidence of their plans, according to the documents. Wright faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison if convicted.
#4
Also from the Fox article (sorry, I'm still waking up):
Under the alias âAbu Sufyaan,â Rahim thanked his nephew, âDawud Sharif Abdul-Khaliq,â an alias of Wright, for witnessing his wedding, according to a 2013 Facebook post.
The FBI-led task force had been watching Rahim and two associates also believed to be radicalized, according to a law enforcement official. Rahim had been monitored for at least a couple of years. Investigators were talking to the associates, and various locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island were being searched, officials said.
The Rhode Island raid was connected to a third person believed to be associated with Wright and Usaamah Rahim, according to two federal law enforcement sources. The third person was connected by more than just an âInternet relationship,â one law enforcement source said. The sources did not provide a name for the individual they were investigating.
The FBI is still investigating whether more people are connected with the three.
The plot thickens. Lone wolf, known wolf, known pack.

Googling images, this is definitely elder brother Imam Ibrahim Rahim. This is either Ibrahim or dead little bro Usaama -- I'm not clever enough to decide.
Imam Ibrahim Rahim spent eight years of study in Saudi Arabia where he graduated in 1989 from the Islamic University of Medina, completed the Arabic Language Program, Quran recitation, and passing by Mecca where he advanced his Quran recitation attending the Haram Mosque. Imam Ibrahim returned to Boston where he worked as an associate Imam at Masjid Al-Quran in Dorchester, MA until 2011.
Over the span of 22 years, Imam Ibrahim worked diligently to share his knowledge with the Muslim community of Boston and around the nation as well as lead the Ramadan Taraweeh prayers in Boston at Masjid Al-Quran. Imam Ibrahim completed five books on the religion of Islam including literary work including Arabic Grammar, Tafsir of the Holy Quran, Tauheed, Womanhood in Islam, and an analysis of Iman as given in the Hadith collection of Imam Muslim. Imam Ibrahim is currently offering Tefsir of the Holy Quran and training families in Quranic recitation. His favorite saying is: Traveling through a strange place, on my way back to Allah.
[DAWN] KOHAT: Local police on Tuesday foiled an attempt to smuggle huge quantity of arms and ammunition from the gun manufacturing town of Darra Adamkhel to Lahore.

During search of the vehicle the police recovered four Kalashnikovs, three repeaters, three rifles, 40 pistols, 50 chargers and 85,000 cartridges.

A Somali man detonated an explosives-rigged armoured vehicle inside the base, while a Tajik and a Syrian blew up a Humvee and a truck in the area, IS said in an online statement.
The Monday attack -- which officers said also maimed more than 30 people -- was against a federal police base between Samarra and Tharthar lake.
The area is being used in a military operation aimed at cutting off IS's supply lines in Anbar, a province west of Baghdad where the jihadists overran the city of Ramadi last month.
IS fighters have over the past year seized a formidable arsenal of military vehicles, weapons and ammunition from retreating Iraqi forces as they swept through much of the country's Sunni Arab heartland.
Iraqi security forces have in recent days successfully repelled several suicide attacks involving explosives-laden vehicles thanks to anti-tank systems, but not all forces have access to those weapons.
The attack on the police base came a day before members of the U.S.-led coalition carrying out air raids against IS and providing training and weapons to Iraqi forces held talks in Gay Paree on a string of major battlefield gains by the jihadists in Iraq and Syria.

An air strike in Iraq completely levelled one of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. The strike hit a facility at the entrance to the town of Hawijah in northern Iraq that was used to rig vehicles with explosives for bombings that are one of ISIS' deadliest tactics, they said.
The facility, which included tanks, Humvees and large quantities of explosives, was "the biggest factory in Iraq and Syria", an Iraqi colonel said.
The officers said the blast caused heavy ISIS casualties but also killed and maimed civilians.
Mohammed Khalil al-Juburi, the deputy head of the Kirkuk province security committee, confirmed details of the attack, and also said it caused major casualties among both ISIS and civilians.
An AFP journalist heard the huge kaboom in Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... 55 kilometers (34 miles) away.
Mobile phone photos obtained by AFP that were said to show the site of the kaboom picture damage on a massive scale.
They show a huge field of debris -- cinderblocks, metal roofing, the twisted remains of vehicles -- that stretches as far as the eye can see.
Iraqi officials said the strike was carried out by U.S.-led anti-ISIS forces, an assertion backed by a statement the coalition issued saying that it bombed an ISIS "VBIED (vehicle-born improvised bomb) facility" near Hawijah.

[JP] The group that claimed responsibility for firing the rockets at Israel, calling itself the Omar Brigades, said the rocket fire on Wednesday was in retaliation for Hamas's killing of an Islamic state supporter a day earlier in Gaza.
Israel retaliated on Thursday for rockets fired at it from Gaza with bombing raids against three militant training camps, and a radical Islamist group sympathetic with Islamic state claimed responsibility for the attacks on Israel.
Witnesses and medics said the predawn attacks on two camps belonging to Hamas Islamists who dominate in Gaza and the Islamic Jihad group caused some damage but no casualties.
The Israeli military confirmed the strikes saying that in response to rocket fire it "struck three terror infrastructures in the Gaza Strip," and added that "hits were confirmed."
The rockets aimed at the Israeli city of Ashkelon and town of Netivot were the second such launchings at Israel in the past week, marking an escalation since a hiatus in cross-border fire since a 50-day Israeli war with Hamas ended with an Egyptian-brokered truce in August.
A radical Islamist Salafist group posted a statement on Twitter claiming responsibility for firing the rockets. Calling itself the Omar Brigades the group said the rocket fire on Wednesday was in retaliation for Hamas's killing of an Islamic state supporter in a shootout a day earlier in Gaza.
