I use the regular donation thingy on the front page, it's easy and painless. We all should think about doing that.
Also, we do as much of our shopping on Amazon as we can and always go to Amazon via their link on the front page. That must add up.
But since we are broke yet again, I will up our monthly donation. It's not good enough- sending Fred (or Sherry) out with the begging bowl when we get the benefit of this unique place, and his hard work. Let's not be users.
[Al Ahram] Gunmen opened fire Wednesday at the Bardo museum in Tunisia's capital, killing at least 22 people, including 20 foreign tourists, in one of the worst attacks in this struggling North African democracy that depends heavily on tourism.
"There are 22 dead including 20 South African, French, Polish and Italian tourists," interior ministry front man Mohammed Ali Aroui told AFP, without providing further details on the identities of the victims.
Men with assault rifles fired at tourists climbing from buses in front of the National Bardo Museum in central Tunis near the country's parliament, sending dozens sprinting for safety. Two gunnies were killed, but Prime Minister Habib Essid said a manhunt was on for at two or three others.
The identity of the attackers wasn't clear. Twitter accounts associated with the krazed killerIslamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... group based in Syria and Iraq were described as overjoyed at the attack, urging Tunisians to "follow their brothers," according to Rita Katz of SITE, a U.S.-based organization that monitors bully boy groups.
However, if you can't be a good example, then you'll just have to be a horrible warning... the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... 's foreign policy Chief Federica Mogherini blamed Islamic State on Wednesday for the attack and said that "with the attack that has struck Tunis today, the Daesh terrorist organization is once again targeting the countries and peoples of the Mediterranean region".
About 50 people were maimed in the attack, which began after noon local time, according to Tunisian state television ... and if you can't believe state television who can you believe?
.
Security forces immediately flooded the area around the museum, and Tunisia's parliament building, where deputies were debating a new anti-terrorism law, was evacuated.
Dozens of tourists scrambled from the museum holding hands or linking arms as Tunisian security forces pointed their guns toward an adjacent building. At least one couple carried two children.
According to Essid, the dead include two gunnies, a Tunisian security officer and a Tunisian cleaning woman, while the rest were tourists from Italia, Poland, Germany and Spain. The Spanish Foreign Ministry has confirmed one dead.
Tunisia has been struggling to keep krazed killer violence at bay since the overthrow of its dictator in 2011, and the attack was the worst on a tourist site since an al-Qaeda boom-mobile killed 21 people -- mostly Germans -- in 2002.
"Our nation is in danger," Essid warned in an address on national television Wednesday evening after the siege ended.
"We will be merciless in the defense of our country," he added, describing the attack as an unprecedented assault on Tunisia's economy. He promised increased security in tourist zones and asked residents to be extra alert.
Several other people were reported maimed in the attack, including three Poles and at least two Italians. The Italian Foreign Ministry said 100 other Italians had been taken to a secure location.

[Iran Press TV] At least 12 militias loyal to Libya's Tripoli ...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn... -based government have been killed during festivities with ISIL Takfiri ...an adherent of takfir wal hijra, an offshoot of Salafism that regards everybody who doesn't agree with them as apostates who must be killed... snuffies close to the central city of Sirte.
"Twelve heroes of the Libyan army have been killed treacherously at Noufliyeh," Tripoli authorities said on Wednesday.
Noufliyeh is a stronghold of the Takfiri gunnies who have been in control of vast regions around Sirte since February, they added.
As of yet there have been no reports in relation to ISIL casualties.
According to the Tripoli-based defense ministry, the fighting broke out on Saturday after ISIL fighters blocked a coastal road in protests to the arrests of some of their leaders.
The Tripoli-based General National Congress, backed by the Fajr Libya militias controlling the capital, are waging a war against the official Libyan army, supported by the Tobruk-based parliament, in the far east of the country.
The new Tripoli rulers have set up a rival parliament and government not recognized by the international community.

[Al Ahram] Almost all of the 436 mosques in the Central African Republic have been destroyed by months of vicious fighting between Christians and Moslems, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations ...an organization conceived in the belief that we're just one big happy world, with the sort of results you'd expect from such nonsense... said Tuesday, calling the devastation "kind of crazy, chilling."
Samantha Power spoke to news hounds after a Security Council visit last week to the country. She expressed concern ...meaning the brow was mildly wrinkled, the eyebrows drawn slightly together, and a thoughtful expression assumed, not that anything was actually done or indeed that any thought was actually expended... about an upcoming possible security vacuum as European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... and French forces pull out and a U.N. peacekeeping force is still not at full strength.
At least 5,000 people have been killed since Central African Republic went kaboom! into unprecedented sectarian violence in December 2013. Nearly 1 million of the Texas-sized country's 4.5 million residents have been displaced. Many of those who have fled are Moslem.
Power said 417 of the country's mosques have been destroyed. She visited the one remaining Moslem neighborhood in the capital, Bangui, and described the residents as "a terrified population."
Some Moslem women, afraid of leaving the community while wearing their veils, are choosing to give birth in their homes instead of hospitals, the ambassador said.
U.N. peacekeepers, French forces and a European Union military operation have tried to calm the violence. But Power said the last of the EU force of about 750 troops left the Central African Republic over the weekend, shortly after the Security Council visit.
"That's a big dropoff in capability," she said. Meanwhile, ...back at the Council of Boskone, Helmuth ordered the space pirate fleet to attack Zemblonia... the French forces have announced a "substantial drawdown" by the end of this year. La Belle France had sent 2,000 troops to its former colony.
The U.N. peacekeeping force remains at about 80 percent of its planned strength of about 10,000, Power said. The U.N. secretary-general last month asked for more than 1,000 additional peacekeepers, and Power said the council is "very favorably disposed" to the request.
She said the combined forces have "averted a worst-case scenario," but the country's roving gangs remain armed.
The ambassador called that a deep cause for concern and said disarmament is a "huge priority."

At least 5,000 people have been killed since Central African Republic exploded into unprecedented sectarian violence in December 2013.
What pray tell was the cause of this unprecedented violence. Oh, a mostly peaceful coup by muslim militias - the Seleka. According to Wiki, the Seleka weren’t an overtly religious movement, but they were mostly Muslim. Nevertheless this non overtly religious but mostly muslim group still has a penchant for indiscriminately lobbing grenades into random Churches, and who occasionally relapse, just like a smoking habit, who relapse into Christian massacring and summary executions. But you know, colonialism.
One OWG elitist underdog is another mans purveyor of sharia law. #BringOurGirlsBack ended with the photo op. Had they stayed with the story, one would have learned the girls were last seen in a CAR town under guard by former Seleka militia men, suggesting a synergy with Boko Haram. But never mind that, here's a better narrative to promote our enlighten vision of swirled peas being met via more muslim outreach and sympathies, some Muslim women, afraid of leaving the community while wearing their veils, are choosing to give birth in their homes instead of hospitals, the US ambassador said. Oh the poor dears.
[Iran Press TV] Unidentified gunnies have assassinated a senior member of Yemen's Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... movement in the capital, Sana'a.
Security officials confirmed Wednesday that Abdul Karim al-Khiwani was attacked by gunnies on a cycle of violence earlier in the day.
Khiwani was a member of the Ansarullah movement's Revolutionary Committee in charge of administering the affairs of the capital, Sana'a.
Al-Massira television channel, which is run by the Houthis, confirmed the death of the big shot. Another leading member of the Houthis, Mohammed al-Bekheiti, said the liquidation took place on Sana'a Street, where Khiwani's house is located.
Mohammed al-Khiwani, the son of the slain leader, said gunnies left his father in "a pool of blood" in front of his home and escaped. He was transferred to hospital but died of excessive bleeding.
Abdul Karim al-Khiwani, also a top journalist and a respected writer, was a representative of Ansarullah movement in the UN-sponsored national talks which concluded January last year. The meetings ended in a peace plan which divided Yemen into six federative regions. Houthis strongly opposed the initiative and continued fighting until they took control of the capital in September.
No group has yet grabbed credit for Khiwani's liquidation, although some analysts believe that forces loyal to Yemeni runaway President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi may have been behind the killing.

You can find low levels of cyanides (Detectable by the security process they apparently used) in a lot of things, not the least of which are certain foods including almonds, millet sprouts, lima beans, soy, spinach, bamboo shoots, and cassava roots.

[Al Ahram] Pakistain's military said it killed 34 Death Eaters Wednesday in air strikes on a tribal region near the Afghan border as part of a major offensive against turbans that began last year.
The Taliban and Lashkar-e-Islam ...a group of Islamic bandidos infesting Khyber Agency. It's headed by a former bus driver.... bully boy groups are based in Khyber, one of seven autonomous tribal districts along Pakistain's western border, which became a hideout for Islamist Death Eaters following the US-led invasion of neighbouring Afghanistan in 2001.
"In precise aerial strikes in Tirah, Khyber region, 34 bad boyz were potted today," the military said in a statement.
The military began its latest offensive in Khyber in October 2014, four months after a similar operation in the North Wazoo district which was triggered by a bloody Taliban attack on Bloody Karachi ...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous... airport that sank faltering peace talks.
Both conflict zones are off-limits to journalists, making it difficult to verify the number and identity of those killed.
Rights activists are wary of the corpse counts given by the military and say many women and kiddies have also died.
Air strikes, artillery, mortars and ground troops have all been used to take back territory.
Also Wednesday a polio ...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set... worker was rubbed out in the tribal district of Bajaur, underscoring the continuing violence against vaccination teams as Pakistain tries to eradicate the crippling childhood disease that is endemic in only two other countries -- Nigeria and Afghanistan.
"A polio worker was rubbed out while another sustained injuries when they were fired upon while administering polio drops in Khamangra neighbourhood of Nawagai area in Bajaur tribal district," local administration official Fayaz-ul-Haq Sherpao told AFP.
The attack was confirmed by another senior administration official, Sohail Ahmed Khan. It brings to 78 the number killed in attacks on immunisation teams since December 2012.
Talibs have long claimed the polio vaccination drive is a front for espionage or a conspiracy to sterilise Moslems. They intensified their strikes after the CIA recruited a doctor to carry out a fake immunisation drive to help track down Al Qaeda chief the late Osama bin Laden ... who is now among the dear departed, though not among the dearest... .
Last year the number of polio cases recorded in Pakistain soared to 306, the highest in 14 years.

Nice turn of events in Daquq. Usuall most news from Iraq has people saying Dafuq.
[RFE/RL] Ten Iraqi civilians have died of hunger in Haditha in Anbar province, Sabah Karhout, the head of Anbar's provincial council said. Karhout blamed Iraq's Trade Ministry for their deaths, saying that no humanitarian aid has reached the town even though Iraqi security forces have liberated the highway to Baghdadi township and the Ayn Al-Asad military base.
Iraqi security forces have liberated most of Haditha, but the southwestern parts of the town remain under IS control.
These accounts come amid reports that the ministry, which is in charge of the public food distribution program, is set to open an air bridge and a ground route to transfer aid to Haditha and Baghdadi.
[Al Ahram] US warplanes have bombed a small drone used by Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... forces of Evil in Iraq, marking the first time American-led forces had targeted an unmanned aircraft flown by the jihadists, officials said Wednesday.
The strike took place on Tuesday near the western city of Fallujah, ... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids... destroying "a remotely piloted aircraft" and a vehicle with the IS forces, according to a statement from the US military command overseeing the campaign against the group.
The drone, used for battlefield surveillance, was "small-scale" and not a sophisticated aircraft equivalent to some US-made robotic planes that can fly at high altitudes or launch missiles, US defense officials said.
After flying the drone for a short period, Islamic State faceless myrmidons placed it on a vehicle. American aircraft then struck the vehicle near Fallujah, officials said.
The United States relies heavily on its own fleet of drones for air operations in Iraq and Syria, using them to bomb targets as well as provide intelligence on IS movements on the ground.
The Syrian regime said Tuesday it had shot down an American drone near the coastal province of Latakia and Pentagon officials acknowledged that a robotic aircraft had lost contact in the area.
The air strike on the IS drone was among 11 carried out by US-led aircraft in Iraq and two conducted in Syria on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.
The strikes included five air raids near the western town of Ramadi in Iraq, with two IS-held bridges targeted along with a sniper position, an excavator and an IS "tactical unit," the military statement said.

This is what I learded in piano lessons, so very long ago - 'victims who had collapsed or were convulsing would begin to dance with appropriate music and be revived as if a tarantula had bitten them.'
More boring is the first definition - Tarantella is a group of various folk dances characterized by a fast upbeat tempo, usually in 6/8 time (sometimes 18/8 or 4/4), accompanied by tambourines.[2] It is among the most recognized forms of traditional southern Italian music.
