[IsraelTimes] The Anti-Defamation League issued a security advisory to all Jewish institutions and synagogues in the wake of anti-Israel demonstrations around the globe protesting Israel's military operation to stop rocket attacks from the Gazoo Strip.
Fifty anti-Israel demonstrations have taken place in the US alone since the start a week ago of Operation Protective Edge. A number of the protests have seen incidents of violence, including in Los Angeles and Boston.
The ADL is encouraging heightened vigilance and recommending that institutions take steps to enhance their security and connect with law enforcement.
"The warning is in response to the violence and anti-Semitic expressions that we have seen at some of these demonstrations," ADL front man Todd Gutnick told The Times of Israel on Monday.
"The tenor of some of these demonstrations has been extreme, with protesters chanting, 'Death to Israel' and other hateful messages and slogans," he added.
Also on Monday, high-level US Department of Homeland Security officials spoke with Jewish leaders concerned about violence at rallies and demonstrations related to the recent conflict.
Two hundred Jewish community leaders participated in the conference call organized by the Secure Community Network, the security arm of national Jewish umbrella organizations.
DHS Deputy Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Infrastructure Protection William Flynn were among the officials who addressed the leaders.
According to a SCN statement, the discussion focused on "security implications of operations in Gazoo on Jewish communities both domestically and worldwide, and [a review of] security protocols for planned rallies and demonstrations in support of Israel."
Pro-Israel demonstrators were assaulted this past week in Boston and Los Angeles.
Anti-Israel demonstrations in Europe have also turned violent.
On Sunday, at least three Jews were taken to the hospital in Gay Paree after festivities erupted between anti-Israel protesters and young men guarding the Don Isaac Abravanel Synagogue in Gay Paree, where worshipers were trapped for a short time. Two days earlier, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a synagogue in a suburb of Gay Paree.
In Berlin, several people were tossed in the clink Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! after throwing rocks at police during a pro-Gazoo rally over the weekend.
[DAWN] Argentine riot police fired tear gas and water cannon on Sunday and early Monday to break up dozens of rock-hurling youths in central Buenos Aires after the nation's hopes of a first World Cup win in 28 years were dashed by Germany in the final.
Parents clutching their children bravely ran away from the iconic Obelisk monument where tens of thousands of people had gathered, as the rowdy youths taunted coppers and tried to kick down the metal grills on some shop fronts, television pictures showed.
At least 15 coppers were maimed and more than 50 people detained in the unrest that followed the 1-0 defeat, local media reported.

No wonder Obama didn't want to go to the border, and decided to fist bump a gay guy at an Austin, TX bbq joint. The border is no place for a metrosexual who's only weapon is a 9-iron.
But while Obama chomped on a rib and downed a "brewski," hundreds of Mexicans rioted at the southern border of the United States and rushed the guards.

I don't get it - if this is the right thing, and we know this guy never misses a chance to have a picture of himself doing right things - then where is the pick of a backlit sun halo Obama extending his hands to some poor kids?
Why all the secrecy? Why are officials being denied access? I did see a sob story about a gal who said she sometimes only got one meal a day for an entire month transit...but she looked 40lbs overweight so...where is the great hailing? Why the bundling at unannounced odd hours?
Or is it Obamacamps as a result of the grandiose pondering of the DREAMERS, naturally a direct result of wanting to hand out free candy. Obamacamps, where children run around shoeless and sick, food is served with plastic spoons, and former inmates have the know how to quickly set up teams and jockey for control of the complex. Odd we have pictures from a high security wing of a prison in Iraq, but here, nothing.
It would seem to me the lack of evidence, is the evidence, like a hole in a lake.

Contrary to what those who defend the right to own high-powered assault rifles believe, not all guns are created equal. Due to a combination of availability, portability and criminal usage the following five types of guns are the country's most dangerous.
Using firearm trace data from the ATF, as well as FBI homicide records, we determined the types of guns most often recovered from crime scenes and/or used in murders. The numbers are stark: According to the FBI's 2012 Crime in the US data, nearly 70 percent of homicides for which the FBI received weapons data involved the use of a firearm and handguns alone accounted for about 72 percent of firearms used in murders and non-negligent manslaughter. While the FBI does not elaborate on the type of handguns used in these incidents, the ATF's analysis of weapons confiscated from crime scenes provides a more specific look at the weapons criminals prefer, which we've shared with you here

I hate to quibble, but what they have listed are the most popular firearms. Dangerous firearms would be firearms that explode when fired, go off half-cocked, and similar malfunctions.

They are accused of killing, assault, kidnapping and torching houses.

Investigators said 82 members of the Daboudiya clan and 81 members of the El-Halayel clan were involved in the festivities. Thirty-four Daboudiya clan members and 32 members of the El-Halayel clan were locked away Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out! The prosecutor-general ordered the defendants to remain in detention. [UK.FINANCE.YAHOO] Qatar plans to buy US Patriot missile batteries and Apache attack helicopters in a major arms deal worth about $11 billion, Pentagon brasshats said Monday.
The sale would provide Qatar with roughly ten batteries for Patriot systems designed to knock out incoming missiles, as well as 24 Apache helicopters and 500 Javelin anti-tank missiles, officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.
Qatar was investing in missile defense systems to counter what it sees as the threat from Iran across the Gulf, as Tehran has built up its missile arsenal, officials said.
The weapons deal was the biggest for the United States in 2014 and came as Qatar weighs proposals in a fighter jet competition, with US aerospace firm Boeing vying against British BAE Systems and Dassault Aviation of La Belle France.
"It's a good sign," said a senior defense official, referring to the arms sale and the prospects for the fighter jet bidding. "It's a pretty significant step."
Qatar's minister of state for defense, Major General Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah, committed to the sale in a signing ceremony Monday in Washington after talks with his American counterpart, Chuck Hagel.
The United States wants to preserve its role as "the defense provider of choice" for Qatar and other Gulf states, the official said.
Just as long as we control the secret off-switch codes...

[BLOOMBERG] Home Depot Inc., the world's largest home-improvement chain, will start selling 3-D printers today in stores for the first time, pushing deeper into a market that was once the domain of engineers and hobbyists.
Home Depot is selling devices from MakerBot, a 3-D printer maker acquired by Stratasys Ltd. last year, in 12 locations as part of a pilot project, the companies said. The effort will include stores in California, Illinois and New York.
"It's a pilot for us to test a potential disruptive technology, and to make sure we are on the forefront of a new innovative product," Joe Downey, an online merchant at Atlanta-based Home Depot, said in an interview.
The move builds on Home Depot's decision to offer the MakerBot printers on its website three months ago. Though the devices aren't likely to create a major new source of revenue, the chain is betting that they'll appeal to forward-thinking contractors and do-it-yourselfers. Customers can use the printers to create parts and supplies that might be handy for repairs, such as cup holders, U-clips and pipe-stakes.

[Al Ahram] The Kremlin denied on Monday a report that Moscow was considering targeted strikes against Ukraine after shells landed across the border and killed a Russian civilian.
Respected daily Kommersant had quoted a source close to the Kremlin as saying Moscow was considering "targeted retaliatory strikes" against Ukraine, where festivities between pro-Moscow rebels and government troops escalated over the weekend.
But President Vladimir Putin ...Second and fourth President and sixth of the Russian Federation and the first to remain sober. Putin is credited with bringing political stability and re-establishing something like the rule of law, which occasionally results in somebody dropping dead from polonium poisoning. Under Putin, a new group of business magnates controlling significant swathes of Russia's economy has emerged, all of whom have close personal ties to Putin. The old bunch, without close personal ties to Putin, are in jail or in exile or dead... 's front man Dmitry Peskov dismissed the report.
"I don't comment on this in any way. It's complete nonsense," he told AFP.

[BBC] A Ukrainian military transport aircraft has been shot down in the east, amid fighting with pro-Russian separatist rebels, Ukrainian officials say.
They say the An-26 plane was hit at an altitude of 6,500m (21,325ft). The plane was targeted with "a more powerful missile" than a shoulder-carried missile, "probably fired" from Russia. The crew survived, reports say.
Russia has made no comment. Separately, NATO ...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis.... reported a Russian troop build-up near the Ukraine border. A NATO official confirmed to the BBC that the alliance had observed a significant increase of Russian troops, bringing their number to up to 12,000.
Russia denies supporting and arming the separatists, and has invited officials from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to monitor its border with Ukraine.

[REUTERS] Ukraine on Monday accused Russian army officers of fighting alongside separatists in the east of the country and said Moscow was once more building up its troops on the joint border.
A missile that downed a Ukrainian transport plane carrying eight people near the border was probably fired from Russia, Ukrainian officials said.
President Petro Poroshenko held an emergency meeting of his security chiefs after a weekend of Ukrainian air strikes on rebel positions near the border with Russia and charges by Moscow that Kiev killed a Russian man with a cross-border shell.
The war of words between Kiev and Moscow and intense fighting, in which Ukrainian forces say they inflicted heavy losses on the rebels, marked a sharp escalation in the three and a half month conflict in which several hundred Ukrainian servicemen, civilians and rebels have been killed. "Information has ... been confirmed that Russian staff officers are taking part in military operations against Ukrainian forces," Poroshenko said.
Poroshenko made similar complaints of Russian incursions on Sunday to the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... with an eye to pushing the bloc to exert greater pressure, and possibly more sanctions, on Moscow.

[Al Ahram] India's top court Monday suspended the death sentences of two men convicted of the deadly gang-rape of a student in New Delhi, an attack that triggered international outrage.
The Supreme Court temporarily stayed the sentences passed on gym instructor Vinay Sharma and bus cleaner Akshay Singh for the 2012 attack while their appeals were examined, a lawyer said.
"The sentence was stayed by the court after we filed the special leave petition," A.P. Singh, who represents the two men, told AFP.
"We want a full bench to hear this appeal. The claims against my clients are totally false, they have been wrongly accused," he said.
"They were not even in Delhi when this crime was supposed to have happened."
Four men were convicted and sentenced to death last year for raping the 23-year-old woman on a moving bus in the capital in December 2012, a crime that unleashed weeks of angry protests over India's treatment of women.

[DAWN] Capital police have finally formed intelligence units at cop shoppe level to provide information about, and eventually eliminate, networks of criminals. As many as 36 police officials have been deputed in the intelligence units.
According to the police, the units have been formed in all cop shoppes, while two officials from each of the 18 stations in Islamabad have been chosen to make up a team that will trace the networks of criminals.
This two-member unit at each station will perform the executive functions of intelligence gathering and will keep their station house officers and senior officers in the loop regarding the activities in their own areas. They will also highlight the aspects that require special attention from the police force.
A police front man said these intelligence units were the real need of the hour.
"Local police are normally too occupied in routine law and order management and crime fighting, and neglect local surveillance. These units will enhance police efficiency in the areas of planning, target hardening and response," he said.
The front man added that these units will collect critical information to provide insight into crime threats and also identify individuals who might be suspected criminals.

[USATODAY] The Church of England voted Monday to admit female bishops for the first time in its history. But only if they're not heterosexual...
A move by clergy in 2012 to approve similar legislation to allow women to become bishops was backed by many in the church but ultimately blocked by traditionalists.
The church first ordained female priests in 1994.
"Today is the completion of what was begun over 20 years with the ordination of women as priests. I am delighted with today's result," the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, said in a statement.
"The challenge for us will be for the church to model good disagreement and to continue to demonstrate love for those who disagree on theological grounds," he said. "Very few institutions achieve this, but if we manage this we will be living (out) more fully the call of Jesus Christ to love one another."
