Northern Mali clashes claim lives of over 30 people
[Iran Press TV] Over 30 people have been killed in festivities in northern Mali a few days ahead of the start of peace talks, security sources say.

A Malian military source said on Sunday that the festivities in an area between the towns of Gao and Kidal, which began on Friday, had claimed the lives of 37 people.

The army has claimed that the recent violence was infighting between different fighter groups.

The Tuareg fighters, however, issued a statement, blaming the government for starting the assault.

According to the statement, 35 people from the government forces and other "militias" were killed in the attack.

The Malian government and the Tuareg fighters are scheduled to hold peace talks in Algeria on Wednesday.

Eight killed in mortar attack in Egypt's Sinai
[Al Ahram] Militants in Egypt's northern Sinai fired mortar rounds late Sunday at a military post in the lovely provincial capital of El-Arish, killing a soldier as well as seven civilians, including a child in a nearby residential complex, security and hospital officials said.

A security bigshot said the attack late Sunday hit the military post, killing one soldier. The military post is located near a compound of residential buildings in the al-Salam district. The main security headquarters and the local government offices are also located in the same area.

The official , who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media, said a supermarket, pharmacy and a residential building were hit by the mortar fire.

Samy Anwar, the head of El-Arish hospital, said seven non-combatants were killed in the attack, including a 10-year old girl. He said 25 others were maimed.

The attack comes as Israel's offensive against the neighboring Gazoo Strip enters its sixth day. More than 160 Paleostinians have been killed. Paleostinian myrmidon groups have fired rockets at Israel but caused no deaths. Despite international calls for a cease-fire, the violence showed no sign of easing.

Militants in Sinai have also fired rockets at Israel in support of Paleostinian groups in the past days. Officials here said they foiled a new attempt to fire rockets at Israel Sunday.

"Libya Dawn" Islamist movement orders Qaaqaa and Sawaq brigades to leave Tripoli
[Libya Herald] A new military movement, calling itself "the Force of Security and Settlement in Libya", is demanding that the Qaaqaa and Sawaq brigades leave Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
immediately. Mirroring General Khalifa Hafter's Operation Dignity against Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
and Islamist-leaning brigades in Benghazi, it says it has set up an operation named as "Fajr (Dawn) Libya" to remove the Qaaqaa and Sawaq brigades from the capital city.

It says it considers the Qaaqaa and Sawaq brigades as illegal brigades, although the two Zintani units are recognised by the Libya government as part of the Libyan army. If the two brigades refuse to leave, the media office of "Fajr Libya" said, they would become outlaws and enemies of the 17 February Revolution.

Despite the demands, the new movement claims to support the government and being in favor of basing the new House of Representatives in Benghazi. It accuses Qaaqaa and Sawaq of trying to control the capital and sabotage the democratic process in Libya.

In response to the Fajr Libya demands, the Qaaqaa and Sawaiq brigades sent out an alert calling on members to report for duty.

For its part, the Libyan Revolutionaries Operations Room (LROR), which is believed to be an integral part of the new movement, put out an urgent call to all its members to report to the 27 April barracks (near Zawia) at 9 pm last night.

Mitiga Airbase handed over to the army -- for the third time in two years
[Libya Herald] Forces loyal to Abdel Raouf Kara, a former commander in the Supreme Security Committee, have handed over control of Mitiga Airbase to the army. It is not the first time the base has been handed over.

Yesterday's ceremony, attended by Kara and members of an observation committee, was held at Mitiga and broadcast on Nabaa TV.

Nadim Al-Sharif, one of the observers from Zawia, told the Libya Herald that he and representatives from Tarhouna, Sabratha and Gharian had been present and would monitor the handover over a period of three days. The army's air defence forces are now expected to take responsibility for the premises.

Kara had previously stated that his forces were no longer in control of the airbase.

He has distanced himself from the current stand-off between Islamist and non-Islamist forces in the capital and has ordered his troops not to get caught up in the political tug of war.

At least five dead and 25 wounded in Tripoli clashes; airport closed till Wednesday at earliest
[Libya Herald] Five people have been killed and 25 maimed in fighting in Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
today between Zintanis and the anti-Zintani "Operation Dawn" forces, a health official has said.

The source from the Ministry of Health in Tripoli told the Libya Herald that the casualties had arrived at the capital's hospitals but could not say whether the dead and maimed were combatants or civilians.

Fighting has continued between Qaaqaa and Sawaq brigades and the Fajr forces in the area to the south of Tripoli International Airport, where the fighting began early this morning. It is not clear who now holds the airport itself.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has suspended all flights to Tripoli for the next three days and will continue to monitor the situation. It has said it will shortly designate a new destination for flights scheduled to arrive in the capital for the next two days.

Flights from Tunisia, Dubai, Amman and Cairo which were headed to Tripoli earlier today have been rerouted to Misrata. All scheduled flights from Gay Paree and Rome have been cancelled.

With Benghazi's Benina airport likewise closed because of festivities there, Misrata airport remains the only international airport with flights in and out of the country. But although Tunisair, Turkish Airlines and Royal Jordanian operate there, there have taken no decision as yet to reroute Tripoli flights there.

Air Malta, Alitalia and British Airways cannot do so, because Misrata is not certified for EU-based airlines.

For its part, Afriqiya are reported to be looking at moving operations there.

Most airlines are awaiting an announcement on Wednesday on flight in and out of Tripoli and will evaluate the situation.

"If nothing drastic happens then I expect the airport will reopen and we'll restart flights on Thursday, said one European airline official.

Passengers on flights in and out of Tripoli fro the next there days are being advised to contact the airline they are booked on.

$250 million Afriqiyah Airways plane "written off" in Tripoli Airport fighting
[Libya Herald] There were unconfirmed reports this evening that two Afriqiyah Airways planes were hit in the fighting at Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
International Airport and that one of them, a $250 million Airbus A330 has been damaged beyond repair.

A respected and normally reliable source on social media claimed tonight that a new Afriqiyah Airways Airbus A330, which was parked up on the apron, was hit in the underbelly, as fighting raged around the airport. The tail section has also sustained multiple bullet hits. Engineers are apparently saying that the damage seems so severe, the aircraft may have to be written off.

An A320 from the same airline is also said to have been damaged, though less severely.

In addition, there were reports, that cannot yet be verified, that all airspace in Western Libya, including that over Misrata, has been closed by Air Traffic Controllers in Malta until Wednesday and that, as a result, the only functioning main airport in the country is now that at Labraq, near Beida. Earlier today it was announced that some flights had been rerouted to Misrata.

For a period this March, after rockets were fired at Tripoli airport, Afriqiyah Airways flew all its aircraft for overnight parking at Misrata.

Tripoli airport hit by severe attack from Islamist militia
[THEGUARDIAN] Islamist-led militias launched an attack on Tripoli
...a confusing city, one end of which is located in Lebanon and the other end of which is the capital of Libya. Its chief distinction is being mentioned in the Marine Hymn...
's international airport on Sunday against units allied to Khalifa Haftar, the former general who has vowed to defeat the jihadis.

Buildings and fuel tanks were set ablaze by artillery, rocket and anti-aircraft fire in the worst fighting seen in the Libyan capital since the 2011 revolution. Thick plumes of smoke rose into the sky and staff and passengers huddled for safety inside airport buildings as battles left at least six dead and 25 maimed.

TV footage showed vehicles on fire after rockets struck the car park. Smoke swirled around planes abandoned on the tarmac. All flights to and from the airport have been cancelled.

The airport is held by militias from the mountain town of Zintan, allied with Haftar, whose forces, backed by sections of the air force, have been battling Islamist brigades in eastern Libya for several weeks.

The attack marks a significant widening of the struggle between Haftar and his opponents. "It is not good, not good, people are just staying at home, waiting to see what happens," said Tripoli resident Abu Baker.

The US appealed for calm, with US state department spokeswoman Jen Psaki warning: "The United States is deeply concerned by the ongoing violence in Libya and dangerous posturing that could lead to widespread conflict."

In London, the Foreign Office minister for the Middle East, Hugh Robertson, urged all sides to begin dialogue, saying: "The violence that has broken out around Tripoli international airport is deeply concerning."

Boko Haram Claims Entry Into Lagos With Apapa Blast
[CHANNELSTV] A worrisome report has purportedly been posted by Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the islamists krazed killer group, Boko Haram
... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality...
online claiming they have made incursion into Lagos, South West Nigeria.

The video, AFP claimed, made available to them, shows Shekau claiming responsibility for the kaboom which he said the Police and the Lagos State Government said resulted from gas cylinder.

Shekau said "I ordered the bomber to detonate the explosive."

The Lagos Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, had dispelled the claims as mere industrial accident and that the incident had nothing to do with Boko Haram activities.

Mr. Manko asked Lagosians to carry on with their daily activities and as far as Lagos State was concerned there was nothing to fear as regard Boko Haram attacks.

Shekau has now been quoted to have said "A bomb went off in Lagos. I ordered (the bomber) who went and detonated it.

"You said it was a fire incident, well, if you hide it from people you cannot hide it from Allah."

Claiming responsibility for the bombing of Lagos, the leader of Boko Haram sect also said that the sect was responsible for the Abuja bombings that killed many people at Emah Plaza, located in the Federal Capital Territory.

"We were the ones who detonated the bomb in filthy Abuja," Shekau said.

18 militants killed in fresh NWA bombing: Security officials
[DAWN] Military jets and artillery pounded alleged holy warrior hideouts in North Wazoo, killing 18 foreign and local Death Eaters in a massive ongoing offensive against the Taliban, officials said Sunday.

Air strikes were carried out in Mosaki area, 25 kilometres (15 miles) east of Miranshah
... headquarters of al-Qaeda in Pakistain and likely location of Ayman al-Zawahiri. The Haqqani network has established a ministate in centered on the town with courts, tax offices and lots of madrassas...
, the main town of North Waziristan on Sunday while artillery shelled holy warrior hideouts in Kharkamar area, 30 kilometres west of Miranshah on Saturday night.

"Six terrorist hideouts and a huge ammunition cache were destroyed and at least 13 holy warriors, most of them Uzbeks, were killed in the Saturday morning strikes," a security official told AFP.

A local intelligence official confirmed the raids and holy warrior casualties.

More than 400 turbans and 20 soldiers have been killed in the offensive so far, according to the military. The area is largely off-limits to journalists and the number and identity of the dead is impossible to verify.

Jets pound holy warrior sanctuaries in Mir Ali

Pak fighter jets struck holy warrior hideouts around the Mir Ali Tehsil of North Waziristan Agency earlier today, officials said. This information, however, could not be independently verified as journalists do not have access to most of the agency.

Official sources said that a number of terrorist sanctuaries were destroyed in the raids and also stated that a huge quantity of arms and ammunition has been destroyed in the strikes. They added that at least five bases have been destroyed.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that a large number of turbans have also been killed, but there was no specific number.

Sources told Dawn that soldiers will move into Mir Ali only after all hideouts are destroyed and hard boyz are killed. It is believed that fleeing hard boyz are planting IEDs in various parts of the agency.

Forces posted on security posts along the Pak-Afghan border have also been heavily equipped and have been ordered to give a fitting response in case of a cross border attack by Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistain (TTP) holy warriors.

On Saturday, the ISPR said security forces continued consolidation of Miranshah and Miranshah-Dattakhel road.

It said that six prepared cycle of violence-borne IEDs, two vehicle-borne IEDs, two 12.7mm and one 14.5mm guns, three vehicles, 11 suicide jackets and a large number of arms and ammunition were seized over the past 24 hours in Khar Warsak, near Degan.

The ISPR said turbans had fired rockets on a security checkpost in Mirali from inside Mirali town. Thirteen turbans were killed and seven hideouts destroyed in pre-dawn air strikes.

Most of the hard boyz killed were foreigners, it said.

Pamphlets by militant outfit threaten forces to abandon duties
[DAWN] A little known holy warrior outfit Jaish-e-Khurasan has threatened the security forces and intelligence officials in Jamrud with armed attacks if they failed to abandon their duties till Eidul Fitr.

The group pasted computer generated Urdu language pamphlets on the walls of buildings and other prominent places in Ghundi, Gudar, Bakarabad, Sakhi Pul and Sikandarkhel localities here on Friday night.

The pamphlet asks the officials of Levies, Khasadar force, army, Frontier Corps and intelligence agencies to resign from their respective jobs till Eidul Fitr, as according to the pamphlet these people were allegedly working for the Americans and Jews and not for Islam or Pakistain.

"According to the holy Koran, those who cooperate or work for infidels are also considered infidels and enemies of Islam," said the pamphlet.

It further threatened the officials of the law-enforcement and intelligence agencies that they would be attacked inside their own houses if they failed to resign from duties before the deadline.

Issued with the name of Jaish-e-Khurasan without any signatures or insignia, the pamphlet said that they would not accept any excuse from the security and intelligence personnel after the expiry of the deadline.

Local administrative officials confirmed the appearance of threatening pamphlets in some localities of Jamrud, but doubted its authenticity. They said that they had already started investigation about the distribution of these pamphlets and the existence of the group behind it in Jamrud.

Iraq
A Look At What ISIS Has In Their Arsenal
ISIS's continued success is at least partially due to its seizure of military equipment from fleeing Iraqi soldiers. When ISIS overran djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
, they captured weaponry that allowed them a conventional army, rather than a ragtag insurgency.

"You lost approximately three divisions worth of equipment and probably at least three depots in that area," Anthony Cordesman, a security analyst at the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies, told The Wall Street Journal.

A large quantity of the weapons that ISIS seized from Mosul were supplied by the U.S. to the Iraqi Army. ISIS also fields weapons produced in Russia, China, the Balkans, and Iran.

It is estimated that ISIS has around 30 of the T-55 tank series, a Soviet tank line that was produced from the end of World War II through the 1980s. It is unknown how well the organization can maintain and operate them. ISIS has an estimated five to ten T-72 tanks, although it is unknown whether they will be able to keep the vehicles in working order.

ISIS likely captured M198 howitzers from the Iraqi Army after they fled their bases. Both the Syrian and Iraqi militaries made use of the Type 59-1 field gun, providing numerous source points from which ISIS might have acquired this weapon. The ZU-23-2, a Soviet anti-aircraft autocannon, has been used heavily so far in the Syrian Civil War, and it is also in the arsenal of the Iraqi Army.

ISIS acquired U.S.-built Humvees when it stormed Mosul.

Other weaponry: AK-47s, DShK 1938 Soviet heavy machine guns (ISIS likely stole these machine guns from either the Syrian or Iraqi armies,) M79 Osa rocket launchers and Croatian RBG-6 grenade launchers, smuggled to Syrian rebels by Saudi Arabia.

Iraq is awash with RPG-7s, with the Iraqi Security Forces, the Kurdish Peshmerga, and ISIS all using the rocket propelled grenades. It is believed ISIS looted FIM-92 Stinger MANPADs from Iraqi military bases. FIM-92 Stingers require specialized maintenance and care.

The HJ-8 is an anti-tank missile manufactured by China since the late 1980s and highly effective against armor, bunkers, and fortifications. The Free Syrian Army has been using these missiles to great success against the Syrian Arab Army, although now ISIS has managed to incorporate these weapons into their arsenal.

One of the most effective tools in ISIS's arsenal is their social media savviness. The group routinely churns out slick propaganda videos. It has an English-language outreach magazine, and puts out tweets hash-tagged to trending events to achieve maximum exposure.

ISIS is armed for conventional warfare — and has years of experience waging asymmetrical campaigns in both Syria and Iraq. With such an arsenal at their disposal, and without a military willing to take them on, ISIS rule could become a settled fact of life in the heart of the Middle East.

Iraq sends Shiite militiamen to Ramadi
[Iraq Sun] Iraqi government TV reported that the 4,000 volunteers were being airlifted to Ramadi from the country's mostly Shi'ite regions of Karbala, Baghdad, Najaf and Basrah.

It said Anbar province governor Ahmed Khalaf al-Dulaimi made the announcement in a statement Saturday.

Anbar province military commander General Rashid Flayeh indicated that around 2,500 of the volunteers had been flown into Ramadi Friday by helicopter.

The rest were expected to be flown in Saturday.

Government forces currently control Ramadi, although Sunni insurgents hold the Anbar town of Faluja, 25 kilometers from Baghdad.

A spokesman for Iraq's top Shi'ite cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, urged volunteers and regular army forces to respect the rights of Iraqi citizens in regions where they are fighting, no matter what their sectarian, ethnic or political affiliations may be.

Sheikh Abdul Mehdi al-Karbalai made the plea in a sermon Friday.

Militants Seize Iraqi Town
[Iraq Sun] Iraqi militants have attacked a town north of Baghdad, seizing local government buildings and killing at least 6 people, including two police officers.

Officials say the assault on Dhuluiya, about 50 miles north of the capital, began early Sunday.

Government forces had retaken Dhuluiya last month after it had been overrun by the militants, but a new drive toward Baghdad appears to be underway.

In another development, Iraq's deadlocked parliament adjourned its session Sunday after failing to choose candidates for top positions - a necessary step toward forming a new government.

The legislators plan to meet again Tuesday.

U.N. special envoy to Iraq Nickolay Mladenov had urged all Iraqi lawmakers to take part in Sunday's session, saying that failing to make progress on forming a new government could plunge Iraq into even more chaos.

On Saturday, gunmen stormed an apartment building in a Baghdad neighborhood, killing at least 29 people, mostly women.

Over 130 Sunni militants killed in Iraq
[Iraq Sun] At least 133 Sunni hard boyz were Sunday killed in fierce festivities with security forces across Iraq, officials said.

The festivities with the Sunni murderous Moslems, claiming to be from the Islamic State (IS), took place in al-Qadsiyah district in Tikrit.

At least 41 hard boyz were killed and 26 of their vehicles destroyed, Xinhua quoted military front man Qasim Atta as saying in Baghdad.

The hard boyz were trying to take hold of the district to use it as a launching pad to seize Tikrit, he said.

Atta said Iraqi forces were bracing for a major offensive to retake Tikrit from the Sunni hard boyz within a short period, but the troops were acting cautiously to avoid casualties among civilians.

Also in the province, security forces repelled a new attack by murderous Moslems on Baiji refinery, near Baiji city, 200 km north of the Iraqi capital, Atta said. A total of 20 hard boyz were killed.

In the western Anbar province, security forces repelled a major offensive by murderous Moslem groups that started Saturday to seize Haditha city, around 200 km west of Baghdad, and the nearby dam on the Euphrates river, he was quoted as saying.

Many soldiers, including an officer, and two members of the government-backed Sahwa paramilitary group were killed in the festivities.

On Saturday, Iraqi troops and some Sahwa members had fought back attacks on Haditha and the dam and killed some 40 murderous Moslems.

Security forces continued their attacks on Ramadi in central Iraq and the nearby murderous Moslem-seized city of Fallujah,
... the City of Mosques, which might have somthing to do with why it's not called Center of Prosperity or a really nice place to raise your kids...
leaving at least 21 hard boyz dead, Xinhua said.

Iraqi aircraft bombarded the border crossing point of al-Qaim with Syria, which is under control of murderous Moslem groups, and killed some 20 murderous Moslems.

In the eastern province of Diyala, security forces continued the fight against Sunni hard boyz in rural areas around Maqdadiyah city, 100 km northeast of Baghdad, killing 23 murderous Moslems.

A security source said an IS murderous Moslem group leader - said to be a cousin of top IS leader His Supreme Immensity, Caliph of the Faithful and Galactic Overlord, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
...formerly merely the head of ISIL and a veteran of the Bagram jailhouse. Looks like a new messiah to bajillions of Moslems, like just another dead-eyed mass murder to the rest of us...
- and two of his aides were killed in a clash near Maqdadiyah.

Also in Diyala, Kurdish security forces, known as Peshmerga, fought murderous Moslem groups who seized the southern part of Jalawlaa city, and killed a leader of the Naqshabandiya murderous Moslem group, Xinhua repoorted.

In another incident, an aircraft pounded a hideout of IS hard boyz 65 km northeast of Baghdad, leaving five hard boyz dead.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Hamas lays out truce terms with Israel
[Pak Daily Times] The Paleostinian Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, movement said on Monday it would not end hostilities with Israel without concessions by the Jewish state and that no serious efforts towards a truce had been made.

"Talk of a ceasefire requires real and serious efforts, which we haven't seen so far," Hamas MP Mushir al-Masri told AFP in Gazoo City. Masri said Hamas would only negotiate on the basis of a set of concessions it wants to see Israel agree to.

Those include the lifting of Israel's eight-year blockade on the Gazoo Strip, the opening of the Rafah border crossing with Egypt and the release of Paleostinian prisoners Israel has reincarcerated
Please don't kill me!
after freeing them in exchange for kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in 2011.

"Any ceasefire must be based on the conditions we have outlined, nothing less than that will be accepted," Masri said. Speaking to AFP in Cairo, another Hamas official said a general framework had been presented, and that the group was committed to achieving more than it did in the truce deal that ended the last major round of violence with Israel in 2012.

"We have a general framework, but have not declared point by point demands," he said. "We need to build on the 2012 truce and move forward. We don't want to go back." Masri told AFP that Arab countries and Islamic countries and Western countries were involved in discussions about a truce, but declined to give details.

He said that Hamas was prepared to continue fighting and was ready for a long, drawn-out battle. The fighting entered its seventh day on Monday, with international pressure for a truce growing, but no sign of a concrete mediation channel or formula to end hostilities that have so far killed more than 175 people in Gazoo.

Al-Qassam Brigades Fire Rockets at Tel Aviv, Haifa as Gaza Death Toll Hits 163
[An Nahar] Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason,' armed wing, the Ezzeddine al-Qassam Brigades, announced firing rockets from Gazoo at Tel Aviv in central Israel, its suburb Rishon LeZion and the northern city of Haifa on Sunday afternoon.

"Al-Qassam Brigades have shelled Haifa with an R160 rocket, Tel Aviv with 3 M75 rockets and Rishon LeZion with a Fajr-5 rocket," the pan-Arab al-Mayadeen television reported earlier.

For its part, Al-Jazeera
... an Arab news network headquartered in Qatar, notorious for carrying al-Qaeda press releases. The name means the Peninsula, as in the Arabian Peninsula. In recent years it has settled in to become slightly less biased than MSNBC, in about the same category as BBC or CBS...
TV said rocket attack sirens wailed in Tel Aviv and the northern areas of Haifa, western Galilee and Nahariya.

A series of air strikes targeted several areas in the Gazoo Strip soon afterwards, according to Al-Jazeera.

The Israeli army said two Gazoo rockets were shot down over the greater Tel Aviv area by the Iron Dome anti-missile system, after at least three kabooms shook the area.

"Iron Dome intercepted two rockets over the Tel Aviv metropolitan area," the army said, several hours after another two rockets were intercepted over Lod, very close to Israel's main international airport.

Overnight, Israeli navy commandos launched a ground operation in the north of the Gazoo Strip, the first since the offensive against Hamas began, Israeli public radio said early Sunday.

The brief incursion targeted a rocket launcher site, it said. The armed branch of Hamas confirmed that Israeli commandos had exchanged gunfire with some Paleostinian fighters.

A military front man later said four Israeli soldiers had been lightly maimed during the operation.

"During the mission a shootout broke out, started by some murderous Moslems operating at the site, during which four Israeli soldiers were lightly maimed," said the front man who declined to give further details on the operation.

The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades confirmed the exchange of gunfire "between our fighters and soldiers of the Zionist navy which tried to penetrate the zone of Sudanyia" in northwest Gazoo.

It was the first ground operation in Gazoo by the Israeli military since the start of its offensive on Tuesday.

Israeli strikes on Gazoo killed a teenager and a woman on Sunday, medics said, raising the overall corpse count to 166 as the punishing air campaign entered its sixth day.

One strike on the northern town of Jabaliya struck a house, killing a 14-year-old boy, emergency services front man Ashraf al-Qudra said.

Shortly afterwards, another strike killed a woman in the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gazoo, he said.

A man was killed in a raid on Beit Hanun in northern Gazoo, where the Israeli army has warned it will sharply escalate its offensive and had urged residents to flee.

Elsewhere another person succumbed to injuries from an earlier strike, Qudra said, giving an overall toll of 166 dead.

More than 1,000 people have been maimed.

Witnesses in the southern city of Rafah also reported seeing gunnies killing a man in the middle of the street in what appeared to be the execution of someone suspected of collaborating with Israel.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility from any of Gazoo's armed factions.

Saturday was the bloodiest day by far of the operation, with 52 people killed.

The deadliest strike was in Gazoo City just before midnight (21:00 GMT) in the eastern Tuffah district where 18 people were killed in strikes that hit the house of Hamas police chief Tayseer al-Batsh and a mosque, medics said.

Batsh survived but was reportedly at death's door, with around 50 people maimed in the strikes.

Israel began Operation Protective Edge before dawn on Tuesday in an attempt to halt cross-border rocket fire by bad boy groups.

Since then, approximately 660 rockets have hit Israel, while another 173 were intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system, the army said.

On Sunday, 30 rockets struck Israel, while another five were shot down, a spokeswoman said.

No Israelis have been killed, and only three people have been seriously maimed since the start of the operation, one them a 16-year-old boy who was injured on Sunday during a strike on the coastal town of Ashkelon, medics said.

By Sunday morning, the Israeli military said it had struck 1,320 "terror targets" across Gazoo, including 735 rocket launchers, 64 training bases and bad boy compounds, and 32 Hamas leadership facilities.

More than 20 targets were hit overnight, the army said.

Syrian rebel commander assassinated in Jordan
[Al Ahram] A Syrian rebel commander has been rubbed out in the Jordanian capital in the first such incident on the kingdom's territory since the start of the conflict in Syria in 2011, a police source said on Saturday.

Maher Rahal, 27, who headed the Liwa al-Mujahideen Brigade, one of dozens of rebel formations battling Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad
Lord of the Baath...
's forces in southern Syria, was shot five times in a residential area of the capital late on Friday.

He had entered Jordan only last week on a family visit.

The police source said there was no evidence that his death was politically motivated, while relatives of Rahal linked the killing to an old tribal blood feud in his village of Inkhil, in southern Syria.

Jordan hosts over 600,000 U.N.-registered Syrian refugees, mostly from villages along the border, who have fled the fighting and heavy shelling of residential areas by Assad's forces.

The kingdom, allied with the United States, extends limited support to some moderate rebel groups while continuing to maintain ties with the Syrian government. It has also tried to keep tight control of its borders to prevent radical jihadists crossing into Syria to fight for Islamist militias.

Thousands flee north Gaza after Israel warning
[DAWN] Thousands of Paleostinians were fleeing northern Gazoo on Sunday after a night of intense Israeli strikes and an explicit warning from the army that the raids were set to intensify.

In Beit Lahiya, whole streets were emptying, with residents fleeing with all the belongings they could carry, by car, by donkey- and horse-drawn carts, and on foot.

"Last night there was so much shelling that no one could sleep, it was terrifying," said one man, who gave his name only as Farid. He was fleeing with six family members, riding alongside them on a cycle of violence piled high with blankets.

"I'm going to try to go to a school, anywhere that is safe," he told AFP.

Israeli naval commandos fight Hamas gunmen in beach front firefight
[TELEGRAPH.CO.UK] Israeli naval commandos fought Hamas, always the voice of sweet reason, gunnies in a dramatic beach front firefight on Sunday after Israel attempted the first boots-on-the ground operation of its ongoing offensive in Gazoo.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, later warned that the military operation, that has so far killed 166 Paleostinians, could gone on for a "long time".

The early morning clash broke out after Hamas turbans — alerted by a lookout stationed in a nearby mosque — intercepted Israeli special forces trying wade ashore at Sudaniya in northern Gazoo.

The two sides engaged each other in the sea, according to one witness account, in two hours of shooting that left four Israeli troops maimed. The Israeli military said the mission had achieved its goal of destroying rocket launching sites near the beach.

The amphibious landing came as Israeli reservists massed along the Gazoo land frontier with tanks and artillery fire for a possible ground invasion following six days of aerial bombardment.

Israeli troops wounded in first ground incursion in Gaza
[TELEGRAPH.CO.UK] The Israeli military says four soldiers have been lightly maimed in fighting in northern Gazoo.

The military says the soldiers were hurt during a brief incursion to destroy a rocket launching site. It says they have returned to Israeli territory.

It is the first time that Israeli ground troops are known to have entered Gazoo in the current offensive. But the operation was carried out by special forces and did not appear to be the beginning of a broad ground offensive.

Murderous Moslems storm Malaysia resort, kill 1, snatch 1
[NZHERALD.CO.NZ] Masked gunnies stormed a coastal Malaysian resort, shot a policeman and kidnapped another then sped away in a boat toward the southern Philippines, where Moslem snuffies have carried out similar raids in the past, a security official said Sunday.

The latest kidnapping highlights persistent security threats in Malaysia's Sabah state on Borneo Island and is believed to be spillover of violence from the southern Philippines, a region where separatist snuffies and kidnap gangs are active just a short boat ride away.

Eight gunnies wearing army fatigues barged into the Mabul Water Bungalow Resort late Saturday and ambushed marine coppers on guard there, said Abdul Rashid Haron, who heads the Eastern Sabah Security Command.

A policeman was killed in the shootout and the gunnies, who had their faces covered, fled on a boat with another officer, Abdul Rashid said, adding that the boat was seen heading toward the southern Philippines.

He said the gunnies may either have been planning to kidnap someone at the resort or were targeting marine police after recent increased security on the island helped to curb their activities.

"We don't know their motive. Maybe they were retaliating because we have tightened security in the area.

I cannot rule that out," Abdul Rashid said.

It was the fourth kidnapping in Sabah since April. A Malaysian fish breeder and his Filipino worker were kidnapped by Filipino Abu Sayyaf
...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. snuffies from their farm last month and believed taken to the southern Philippines.

A Chinese fish farm manager, a Chinese tourist and a Filipino resort worker who were all kidnapped earlier this year have since been released.

The abductions have hampered tourism in Sabah, a popular destination for foreigners and a diving haven. Sabah's government has announced a curfew and travel restrictions in high-risk areas.

The Abu Sayyaf, which operates on southern Philippine islands of Jolo and Basilan

2 Rockets Fired at Israel in New Attack from Southern Lebanon
[An Nahar] Two rockets were fired Sunday night from southern Leb towards Israel, in the third such attack in four days, drawing an Israeli retaliation.

"At 12:25 am, unknown individuals fired two rockets from al-Qlayleh plain (near the southern city of Tyre) towards the occupied territories (Israel)," Leb's National News Agency reported.

LBCI television said Israel responded by firing several shells at the outskirts of al-Hinniyeh and al-Ezriyeh in Tyre district, amid overflights in the area by its military aircraft. Israeli forces also violently bombarded the peripheries of al-Mansouri and Majdel Zoun in Tyre district, according to NNA. The Jib al-Sweid area in the outskirts of the town of Zibqin was also targeted by Israel, the agency added.

Earlier on Sunday, the Lebanese Army found a launchpad from which three rockets were fired overnight Saturday from the Tyre region towards northern Israel, NNA reported. The launchpad was discovered in the Ras al-Ain plain, south of the al-Rashidiyeh Paleostinian refugee camp, and an "unwent kaboom! bomb" was also found in the location, the agency said.

The bomb was removed from the site after it was examined by a military expert.

On Saturday night, faceless myrmidons launched three rockets towards Israel from al-Qlayleh plain to the south of Tyre in southern Leb, NNA had reported.

The Israeli army said two rockets fired from Leb hit northern Israel without causing any casualties.

"Two rockets fired from Leb hit uninhabited areas in the Nahariya region," a coastal town around 12 kilometers from the border with Leb, an Israeli army spokeswoman told Agence La Belle France Presse. Israel responded with artillery fire targeting the firing points.

A Lebanese security source told AFP at least one rocket was fired at around 10:20 pm (1920 GMT) from an area south of the port of Tyre, about a dozen kilometers from the border.

Saturday's attack followed the launch of a Katyusha rocket from southern Leb into Israel early Friday, also without causing casualties or damage.

Israel had filed a complaint to the United Nations

Leb's National News Agency said the bodies of three Syrians killed in the festivities and 10 maimed fighters were transferred to a field hospital in Arsal.

The long and mostly non-existent border is often used by smugglers, refugees and fighters.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights head Rami Abdel Rahman said: "It appears Hizbullah launched the attack in a bid to finish off the pockets of rebel resistance."

Arsal and the area around it are largely sympathetic with the Sunni-led uprising against Syrian Hereditary President-for-Life Bashir Pencilneck al-Assad

In April, Syrian forces backed by allied fighters from Hizbullah retook control of most of the Qalamun region.

Last month, Lebanese Army forces carried out raids in the area targeting bully boyz with ties to "terrorist groups", an army statement said at the time.
