MONTREAL: A separatist party is still in the lead ahead of an election tomorrow in the Canadian province of Quebec but the number of voters who say they might change their minds means a result is hard to predict, according to a poll released on Sunday.
The Leger survey for the QMI agency put the opposition Parti Quebecois (PQ) which wants to hold a referendum eventually on independence for the province at 33 percent public support, unchanged from a poll released by the same firm on Aug 24. That would normally be enough to ensure the party won at least a strong minority government, leaving it reliant on support of other parties to push through legislation.
But pollster Jean-Marc Leger told QMI he was not ready to predict any kind of PQ win, given that 28 percent of respondents said they could still change their minds.
Previous PQ governments held independence referendums in 1980 and 1995 but both failed. A poll by the CROP firm last week showed only 28 percent of Quebecers wanted the predominantly French-speaking province of 7.8 million people to leave Canada.
The PQ says if it wins power it will focus on the economy and health care rather than pushing for a quick ballot on independence. The party is also promising to make foreign takeovers of Quebec firms more difficult.
The Leger poll put the newly created Coalition for the Future of Quebec (CAQ) at 28 percent and the ruling Liberals at 27 percent, both unchanged from the last poll. Allegations of corruption, a big budget deficit and a controversial law cracking down on student protests have hurt the Liberals, who have been in power since 2003. So they're a lot like Democrats in the U.S....
The CAQ, led by a former PQ minister, says it wants to put off all talk of referendums for a decade and focus on the economy. It was created late last year and has never contested a Quebec election.

Neighboring Chicago, Detroit, and much of Vermont wish to become provinces of Quebecistan as well. Please see to it.

I'm sick and tired of the entire "separatiste' scenario and wish that they would just leave. Go. Be gone. Nobody in the rest of Canuckistan would miss them . . . . and we could sure use the money that we have pumped into that province since 1867.
The Conservatives won a majority without help from Quebec which shows that they, the "separatistes" have lost whatever power they had.
Barack Obama spoke to KKTV in Colorado Springs last night, which didnt ask the tougher question of the week are we better off than we were four years ago? but did ask Obama to grade his performance on the economy. Obama gave himself an incomplete, which as BuzzFeed notes is the same grade Obama gave himself in 2010 and 2011. Daniel Simpson Day Barack Hussein Obama... HAS no grade point average. All courses incomplete.

Just pick up the trash twice a week, pay the cops and fire fighters, take care of the water and sewer. Then get the hell out of our lives, you primadonnas.

Quintus Arrius: Now listen to me, all of you. You are all condemned men. We keep you alive to serve this ship. So row well, and live.
She said the purpose is to suppress the vote, especially among Democratic-leaning constituencies such as elderly voters. And she scorned the Republicans' contention that the laws are designed to combat voter fraud.
"It's like Hitler said, if you're going to tell a lie, tell a big lie, and if you tell it often enough and say it in a loud enough voice, some people are going to believe you," Lehman said. I was always taught in school debate/speech that if you insult someone or compare them to Hitler or Nazis in the debate, you lose. Guess the dhims never got to that part of school.

I just got in and I was thinking today about Bill Clinton. Carter has upstaged him. Even Michael is getting more attention. He is not letting the DNC look at his speech which is unheard of. He has got to have a major pantie bind. His speech should be very interesting since he was the first black president. He wants Hillary back as president in the worst way. Besides his economy was better than Carters or Obama.
John Burton, the chairman of the California Democratic Party, has apologized for comparing Republicans to Nazi propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels, a comment that quickly sparked outcry from the GOP.
I think it's "Himmler's" turn tomorrow. They just gotta figure which mid level rube does the deed...

Burton also had to "return to California immediately for a scheduled root canal". Now I'm not calling them f'n liars (oh wait, I am), but who
a) knows he has a scheduled root canal, but flies to the national convention
b) makes a hate-charged reference that is roundly rebuked
c) semi-apologizes
d) flies home for this long-scheduled procedure
e) Who the f*ck makes a scheduled root canal ahead of time?
He got his ass kicked back to San Francisco. F*ck him

He's inside their heads, rearranging the furniture. And buried in the article, this little tidbit:
And while labor leaders and rank-and-file profess to support Obama as much as ever, but the cracks are showing. AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka told Politico that federation isn't bringing a full staff or even getting a skybox at the convention center. Battles in Ohio and Wisconsin have badly sapped union resources, a labor operative said. Other unions are focused down-ballot, labor operatives said, focused on saving the seats of true labor allies than of fighting for the national Democratic Party.

The empty chair already has his 31 million dollar mansion in Hawaii, just a few more months of golf and teleprompter recitations and then the easy life. Hows that attitude for an incombent "President".
I really believe the story about his new Hawaiian home a couple of days before the DNC Convention was for a reason.

How the Sam Hill did he accumulate the resources to buy a $31.0 million house?
Repeated from yesterday, for those that missed it:
To be fair, most Presidents have acquired a house prior to the end of their final term, usually paid for by collecting money from friends, political allies, and past political donors [who also assist in funding the Presidential library].
[In the past, Presidents generally didn't have a lot of money when they entered the White House. The current White House occupant is somewhat of an exception, having made money on his auto-biography.]
If the various news sources are to be believed, it's a bit different this time around, because the fundraising is a tad less... enthusiastic.

Come up with that little skit all on your own there? Well congratulations, with your redicule I now officially count Eastwood's original as an official success.
Chairface not only went AWOL, the white house was throwing a lot of support to them early on, which committed the local collectivists to go all in. They thought they still had a chance or at least needed to show the will to finish the game, the White House flushed its toilets and washed their hands noticably earlier than the election. They dropped the Unions flat on their asses.

Wid many US jobs going overseas + few coming to to America, + GOP-DEM Big Govt. in full-blown Socialism-Govtism + SSSSSHHHHHH ...CCCCCC OWG-NWO mode, technically-speaking this period/time should be a "return to glory" for the AFL-CIO + aligned, i.e. return to the heyday of "Big Unions"???
