Democracy is not who can stuff the ballot boxes. Tyrants in the 20th Century demonstrated the ability to get 99.9 percent of the 'vote'. Democracy is predicated upon that which Lincoln referred to as those willing to 'give the last full measure of devotion'. The little barbarians that Western society has produced have no allegiance to anyone and anything than themselves. They will not willing die for the very people who have created them other than for rewards of rape, pillage and looting. That they can get the state to do the acquisition for them, so the better. The enablers still seek to appease them with more Danegeld. When it all breaks and the bloody results are the same as seen through out history, they'll be labeled 'victims' rather than co-conspirators that they are.

This mentality is the guiding force of all the "winners" in society today. The ultra-elite that gets fat from their rent seeking ways and subsidies from the gov't. which dwarf the costs of the underclass. With the advent of instantaneous mass media it is now common knowledge that the rich generally loot the commonwealth AND no one does anything about it!! Kids that see this are quick to learn that looting and pillaging are the accepted ways to wealth and happiness supported by the politics of the day.
If a non-producing bureaucrat gets bought out for over 300 grand why shouldn't a non-producing student get bought out too?
It's not a conspiracy it is a fouled culture that just kept growing worse and worse. Sow the wind? Let the reaping begin.

I can see the youth of the USA sliding towards this area of lawlessness and apathy due to the same forces here mentioned, only on a much, much larger scale, and differing from Britain in that they are armed to the teeth.
Maybe, but so are the "victims" (see Koreans in LA)
I doubt that the cops here would be quite so quick to arrest those defending their own property and lives.
First, the police are not nationalized so the PC, Nanny Staters don't have the control and penetration that they do over there; second too many of the politicians are all for personal responsibility and would support the citizens (not nearly as many as should, but, sufficient to run interference) ; and third any attempt to abrogate the understood castle doctrine would bring on the revolution

...don't forget the protection offered by 'jury' trial. No prosecutor, subject to election, will bring charges against those defending their lives, families and property without suffering severe penalties themselves. The prosecutors know it'll be a waste of resources to even try.
As to the armed 'utes', they'll largely be the counter part of what we see in the Middle East. Thugs and gangsters who have no formal training, a lot of spray and pray. Gun flashing, not gun discipline. They'll soon hit a critical mass, as they leave their usual lairs and haunts, that is composed of enough veterans who actually know how to properly engage in a fire fight.
