Chavez returns to Venezuela after chemo
CARACAS: President Hugo Chavez returned to Venezuela in the early hours of Sunday after undergoing a second round of chemotherapy in Cuba, looking like death warmed over strong and cheerful as he stepped out of his airplane in Caracas.
The thugs always look good, until one day they don't...
Images on state television showed the socialist leader arriving with his daughter. Wearing his trademark red beret, he stood unaided on the tarmac as he chatted with several government ministers and officials.

Joking, laughing and blowing kisses to his followers, he mused that the political opposition “has gone crazy. They’re obsessed with us and the military.”
Only because you're trying to subjugate them, run them over and murder them. People are funny that way...
On Twitter he was jubilant. “Good morning, beloved homeland!” he wrote. “Here we are in full return. What a beautiful full moon to meet us at midnight!“

Chavez has flown to Havana twice for chemotherapy where his close friend and mentor Fidel Castro has watched over him. Before that, on June 20, he underwent surgery on the communist-led island to remove a baseball-sized tumor.
That big? Ooooh Hugo, that must have hurt. Sounds more and more like a colon cancer...
Chavez has refused to tell Venezuelans exactly what type of cancer he has, but has appeared on TV balding from the treatment and says his doctors forbid him from direct contact with the public because his immune system is weak.
Pray for sepsis...

U.S. Links Pakistani Aid to Performance
The White House has started conditioning the award of billions of dollars in security assistance to Pakistan on whether Islamabad shows progress on a secret scorecard of U.S. objectives to combat al Qaeda and its militant allies. The U.S. also is asking Pakistan to take specific steps to ease bilateral tensions.
The humiliation! That the kufrs dare judge whether Islam's Lions have earnt what should be given with gratitude!
The classified system, put in place after the U.S. raid that killed al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden at his Pakistani hideout, signals a shift by the White House toward a pay-for-performance relationship with Pakistan, as doubts grow that the two countries can for now forge a broader alliance based on shared interests.
Given that the interests of the two countries are in direct opposition...
Since 2001, the U.S. has lurched from one policy to another in an attempt to win Pakistan's help in fighting al Qaeda and its allies, only to find itself frustrated by what the U.S. sees as Islamabad's double-game in accepting American aid--more than $20 billion since the 9/11 attacks--while still providing clandestine support to some of America's enemies.

U.S. aid to Pakistan, including economic and security-related assistance, totaled nearly $4.5 billion in fiscal 2010. Security aid accounted for more than $2.7 billion of that, according to the Congressional Research Service.

Safdar Abbasi denies allegations against him in BB murder case
[Pak Daily Times] Dissident Pakistain People's Party (PPP) Senator Dr Safdar Ali Abbasi has categorically denied the allegations.
No, no! Certainly not!
levelled against him that he asked Benazir Bhutto to address the crowd that had gathered outside the Liaquat Bagh after opening the sunroof of the vehicle shortly before her liquidation on December 27, 2007.

Dr Safdar along with his wife and aide to Benazir, Naheed Khan, was addressing a presser and a party meeting at the residence of party leader Sardar Hur Bukhari on Sunday.

He answered different questions put forward by journalists in detail regarding the allegations by the defence lawyer of the PPP's leader and Federal Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim, that Abbasi had given a statement to the inquiry commission that he urged Benazir to address the party workers and also offered to open the sunroof of the bulletproof vehicle.

Responding to a question, he said that he did not ask or urge Benazir to address the workers, neither had he suggested opening the sunroof of the vehicle.

He said that it was just a usual statement of a lawyer who was trying to protect his client from being held responsible in the case. Abbasi said that it was not a direct and independent statement of Makhdoom Amin Fahim, and when he (Makhdoom) would say something directly on the issue then it would be considered worthy to answer.

Answering another question, Abbasi and Naheed clarified that although he (Abbasi) was present in the vehicle with Benazir at the time of the incident, the court did not entertain him as a witness in the case.

The senator further informed that he had received a printed document (performa) with different queries from the inquiry commission of the Benazir Bhutto murder case three years back and they had returned it to the commission after filling it.

Israel-Palestine-Jordan
Proposed reforms not enough for Jordan protesters
AMMAN, Jordan - Jordan's King Abdullah II welcomed proposed constitutional amendments on Sunday, but critics rebuked the changes as insufficient. The 42 proposed changes to the nearly 60-year-old constitution would still allow King Abdullah to retain most of his absolute powers, according to a 15-page document distributed by the royal palace.
So it's really no change at all.
Protesters have been taking to the streets in Jordan for seven months to press the government to expand parliament's powers. Jordanians are also demanding lower food prices, a greater say in politics, an end to government corruption and the election of a prime minister.

The recommended changes do not address protesters' demands to elect a prime minister, instead keeping the appointment of the post solely with the king. But a senior government official said a separate document addressing the prime minister's appointment would be up for discussion at a later unspecified date.

The proposed changes to the constitution, which must be approved by the king and parliament, also include limiting the jurisdiction of military courts to only terrorism and espionage cases. Military courts would be stripped of their powers to hear financial and corruption cases, which under vaguely defined laws, had given the government an upper hand in verdicts.

Under the proposed changes, the king's appointed prime minister and his Cabinet would retain the right to dissolve the country's only elected body, but Cabinet would no longer be able to enforce temporary laws in the absence of elected lawmakers. If Cabinet dissolves parliament, the changes would require ministers to resign within a week instead of the current system that allows them to supervise elections.

Terror Networks
AQAP planning deadly ricin bomb attack
Intelligence officials have warned Barack B.O. Obama that a dangerous regional arm of Al Qaeda is trying to produce the deadly poison ricin to use in attacks against the United States.

Al Qaeda's affiliate in Yemen is believed to have been trying to acquire large quantities of castor beans, which contain the toxic rich protein. It is thought the poison would be packed around small explosives which could disperse the white powdery substance on detonation.
How effective would this be in bomb form? I remember a discussion here about chlorine bombs in Iraq, where the conclusion was that the explosion would be expected to burn off most of the chlorine gas, rather than being available to harm bystanders...
It is so deadly that even a speck of it can kill someone if inhaled or taken into the blood stream. But there are limits on ricin because it loses its potency in dry, sunny conditions, like those in Yemen, and is not easily absorbed through the skin like other nerve agents.
Which is why the Bulgarian secret service delivers it via umbrella...
Al Qaeda intend on detonating the explosives in enclosed areas like shopping centres and airports.

Mr Obama was briefed by top security aides about the latest threat last year but was told by that an attack is not imminent. Senior administration officials said ricin was among the threats being tracked by a secret government task force
Sh! It's a secret.
created after printer cartridges packed with powerful explosives were found in cargo bound for Chicago in October 2010, according to the New York Times. It said the task force was working with Saudi officials and with the remnants of Yemen's intelligence agencies to counter the threat. The virtual collapse of Yemen's government has enabled Al Qaeda to widen its control in the country and strengthen its operational ties with al Shabaab, the Islamic militancy in Somalia. The US government is working with what is left of Yemen's intelligence agencies and those of neighbouring Soddy Arabia to try to root our terror plots early.

The poison was used in the 1978 liquidation in London of Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov and, in 2002, police raided a facility said to be plotting its manufacture in the UK capital.

* DAILY TIMES.PK > [AQIM = Islamic Maghreb] AL-QAEDA IN NORTH AFRICA SEEKS ARAB SPRING JIHAD, i.e. to initiate Military + Media campaigns all across African Continent in lieu of its present inability to launch effective TerrOps outside of same, e.g. agz Europe.

ARTIC = Various "Arab Spring" ["Color/Jasmine" Revolutions = Mass Protests] have shown Muslims that local dictatorships can only be truly overthrown or defeated via JIHAD, I.E. ARMED UPRISNIG ANDOR MASS STREET PROTESTS IRREGARDLESS OF THE LEVELS OF CIVILIAN CASUALTIES INCURRED BY ALL CAUSES, hence provides an indirect or roundabout "validation" of Al-Qaeda's premise, support for violent + non-violent Jihad to achieve Org + Islamist agendums.
