Democrats Complain About Parade Float Honoring Veterans Sponsored By Tea Party
The democrats were not pleased after a Texas tea party group sponsored a float to honor the military in a Texas holiday parade.

Local democrats said politics should be kept out of community events.
So it's now political to honor the military?
A local Tea Party group's participation in Grapevine's recent Parade of Lights has drawn complaints from people who say politics should be kept out of community events.

About 20 people, some wearing military uniforms, were in the Northeast Tarrant Tea Party float during the Dec. 2 Christmas parade through downtown Grapevine. The float was a show of support to the military, said Julie McCarty, president of the Northeast Tarrant Tea Party.

Critics said the group itself is a political statement. Some also said they heard people shout politically themed messages from the float, something McCarty said never happened.

"I was taken aback that they were allowed in the parade," said Mark Bauer of Colleyville. "I've been to many Christmas parades, and I don't remember any other political groups ever participating."

The Tea Party is widely known as a conservative grassroots movement that emerged last year in response to growing government spending. With more than 1,500 local members, "I would simply say that the Tea Party is part of the community," said McCarty of Grapevine.

The Tea Party float was one of 123 in the parade, said RaDonna Hessel, president of the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce, which sponsored the parade. About 30,000 to 40,000 people attended.

"It was just a really ugly disruption," said Thompson, former president of the Mid-Cities Democrats.

Leslie Miner of Grapevine was not at the parade but was angered when she heard about the Tea Party float the next day.

Hessel said Thursday that the chamber received about seven complaints.

McCarty said "a handful of naysayers" shouldn't determine whether certain groups are able to participate.
Wasn't it thoughtful of the newspaper to hunt up people who had not even been there, just so that they could complain?

#1  Maybe if the Democrats could stop hating the Military they might get more traction from middle America.

Kinda' like the unproven claims of racist comments directed at members of congress after passage of ObamaCare.

#6  The left has spoken up for Islam and against Christianity many, many times. Christmas is a major component of the Christian culture. Many TEA Party members are Christian Americans as well as many in the military. For them to express their support for each other's vital role in keeping America free, both on the home front (The Tea Party) and on the battle field is a fundamental right. It is another attempt by the left to try to strip that right to freely assemble, to exercise freedom of religion as ell as freedom of speech away from traditional America. The left should pack up and head to Cuba, Venezuela, Russia or Kenya.

Seven people out of 30,000? Wow, sounds like a town-wide outrage. There could be rioting in the streets; better call in Homeland Security before things get out of hand.

#8  "Seven people out of 30,000?"

OMG, Keenster - that 0.000233%! Oh, the humanity!

Guess they'd better make sure those evil T.P. people aren't allowed to sponsor a float again, or the town admin will all lose their jobs when the vast numbers of objectors vote them out.

FCC Approves Plan to Regulate Internet
The Federal Communications Commission on Tuesday approved a plan to regulate the Internet despite warnings that it could strangle industry investment and damage an economy that is still struggling to recover.

The 3-2 vote fell along partisan lines with Democrats capitalizing on their numerical advantage.

The rules would prohibit phone and cable companies from abusing their control over broadband connections to discriminate against rival content or services, such as Internet phone calls or online video, or play favorites with Web traffic.
So the continuing Federalization of our country continues despite the shellacking the dhims got earlier. How... 1774 of them.

CA is the third highest cost of living state, after Hawaii and Alaska, and ahead of NY and NJ. Wow, and Jerry Brown hasn't even gotten started yet.

Janet Napolitano Creates "Global Warming" Task Force
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano has announced that the Department of Homeland Security has created a new task force, called the Climate Change and Adaptation Task Force, to counter global warming's effects on domestic security operations.

Napolitano explained that the task force was charged with “identifying and assessing the impact that climate change could have on the missions and operations of the Department of Homeland Security.”

According to the former Arizona governor, the task force would address specific questions, including:

“How will FEMA work with state and local partners to plan for increased flooding or wildfire or hurricane activity that is more serious than we’ve seen before? What assistance can the Coast Guard bring to bear to assist remote villages in, for example, Alaska which already have been negatively affected by changes up in the Arctic?”

...The conference did not define “environmental justice,” and the only reference to the task force that can be found is on the DHS Web site. The June 2010 Department of Homeland Security Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan states “climate change has the potential to accelerate and intensify extreme weather events which threaten the nation’s sustainability and security.”

#12  She's no moron. She sounds like a moron but that's because her job is to defend the indefensible. Just think how intellectually challenging it must be to come up with nonsense plans to waste all that time and money "identifying and assessing the impact that climate change could have". The genius in it is that it's designed to distract people from asking why she doesn't secure the border and deport illegal aliens. If it creates yet another layer of useless bureaucracy with jobs for liberal parasites, even better.

#18  I hope this is one place where Eric Cantor and the rest of the Repugs pull the financial plug before this can even get started. Cut her budget to the bone, and then some. Squeeze so hard blood runs from turnips.

Maybe the headquarters for Homeland Security should be relocated to Lake City, Colorado. Do a Google search - the town has a year-round population of less than 250, and it's inaccessible half the year except in 4-wheel drive vehicles. There are lots of old abandoned silver mines they can refurbish.
Posted by: Old Patriot || 12/21/2010 13:46 Comments || Top||

#19  According to the former Arizona governor, the task force would address specific questions, including:

How can we use "climate change" to legitimize our lack of effort in securing the border?

How can we use "climate change" as a reason to deploy more invasive screening at airports?

How can we use "climate change" to accuse conservatives of being extremists and target them for persecution?

#22  Mapolitano is sparking outrage along the Southern border with todays "the border is safer than ever" comment the day before the funeral of a slain border patrol agent. Compounded by another statement that he was slain by Mexican bandits (on US soil) when it is well known that the violence is tied to International drug cartels operating along the US border

#24  I'd call her a lot of things, a lot of them that would get me sinktrapped, but I wouldn't call her a moron. You want to be careful about underestimating people like this. She's doing the job that Obummer wants her to do. It's all part of a plan and she is being a team player in the execution of the plan. Maybe it doesn't make sense to someone who wishes she would do the right thing. But her job, as Obummer sees it, is not to enforce the law and keep us safe. It's the same thing with Eric Holder. Their jobs are to implement His policy whether it's consistent with the law or not.

For instance, you might think it's her job to secure the border. But that is not the case. Her job is to make a pretense of securing the border while allowing a steady flow of illegal immigrants and narcotics to cross the border. Then, if any reporter is impertinent enough to ask her why so many drugs and illegal immigrants still make it into this country, this new "climate change" task force gives her a way to change the subject. She'll just talk about the task force instead and the reporter's head will spin so fast he won't remember to press her about the aliens and the drugs. It's brilliant really.

Likewise, and here's a familiar example, you might think it's Eric Holder's job to prosecute miscreants who interfere with voters at the polls on election day. But that is not the case if said miscreants are working for ACORN or one of ACORN's affiliates because they are only trying to make sure The One gets elected. Holder's not stupid. He's doing the job he was appointed to do.

C'mon. Get with it, Barb. You see what's happening.

Iran 1st VP faces corruption charges
TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's judiciary spokesman confirms the country's first vice president is facing corruption charges.
Maybe he's a Democrat ...
If he claims his accusers are racists, we'll know for sure.
The semi-official ISNA news agency quoted judiciary spokesman Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehi as saying Monday that First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi will have to stand trial.

In recent months, conservative lawmakers have openly accused Rahimi of financial corruption. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's deputy has denied the charges and threatened to sue his accusers.

Iran has 12 vice presidents but Rahimi is the most senior among them.
