Taliban: Afghan Export Earnings to Hit $2 Billion by End of Year
[KhaamaPress] The Taliban

government stated that in the first seven months of the current year, Afghanistan exported $1 billion and $85 million in export revenues and will reach $2 billion by the end of the year.

Afghanistan’s exports will double compared to last year, according to a statement released on Tuesday, November 8 by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban administration in Economic Affairs, if the current pattern continues.

According to the Taliban’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, 97% of the exports to the regional countries, including Iran, Pakistain, and China, were fresh and dried fruits, vegetables, medicinal plants, and minerals.

Jawad Dabeer, the Taliban Ministry of Industry and Commerce’s Head of Information and Public Relations, also said that in the previous seven months, Afghanistan’s exports brought in over $1 billion.

According to Dabeer’s tweet from Saturday, November 6, Afghanistan has exceeded $743 million in exports to Pakistain, $207 million to India, and $23 million to Tajikistan.

The increase in Afghan exports to Pakistain was earlier noted by the US Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) in a report on Friday, November 4.

As a result of international sanctions, SIGAR said that Afghanistan has had the most trade with Pakistain, putting Pakistain at the top of the list of Afghan export destinations.

This comes as the amount of minerals extracted and exported to Pakistain has increased by around 16% since the Taliban took power.

Norway Contributes NOK 8 Million to Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund: OCHA
[KhaamaPress] The United Nations
...boodling on the grand scale...
Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Aid (OCHA) announced that Norway has contributed 8 million Norwegian Krone to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

Norway’s pledge of NOK 8 million to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund was welcomed by the UN OCHA in a tweet on Tuesday, November 8.

The Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund is a pooled country fund overseen by the UN (AHF). In times of natural disasters, UN OCHA coordinates the international emergency response to protect the people and save lives.

According to the OCHA’s tweet, since 2014, Norway has generously donated the AHF 18 million dollars, upholding the notion of investing in humanity.

Meanwhile,

the Croatian government also donated an amount of $100,000 to the AHF, OCHA reported on Monday, November, 7th.

The World Food Program (WFP) has stated that the desperate position of many Afghan families is projected to worsen in the upcoming months following a year of severe economic hardships and natural calamities like drought, earthquake, and flood.

Millions of families, according to the organization, have almost no means of surviving the hard winter, and the WFP has started to step up aid throughout Afghanistan.

Due to the economic crisis caused by the Taliban

’s control of the government, the UN has repeatedly urged other countries and international organizations to provide humanitarian relief to the people of Afghanistan.

According to the WFP, it has provided 21.9 million people with emergency food and nutrition distribution, cash transfers, and livelihood support since the beginning of this year.

#1  If they pack all those bills onto a donkey and walk him across any border into a contiguous country, they will make another credible step towards their export projections.

Somalia: UAE soldiers secretly land in Puntland
[Garowe] Dozens of United Arab Emirates [UAE] soldiers have been secretly landing in the coastal city of Bossaso in Puntland
...a region in northeastern Somalia, centered on Garowe in the Nugaal province. Its leaders declared the territory an autonomous state in 1998. Puntland and the equally autonomous Somaliland seem to have avoided the clan rivalries and warlordism that have typified the rest of Somalia, which puts both places high on the list for Islamic subversion...
, multiple security sources have confirmed to Garowe Online. This will be the first time that the UAE government has returned to Somalia since the deterioration of their relationship with the former president of Somalia Mohamad Abdulahi Farmajo.

Sources who spoke in confidence said at least 12 military flights carrying Emirati soldiers and 250 RG-33 Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicles have been landing at Puntland's Bosaso Airport on the Gulf of Aden secretly since early last month, with their mission in Somalia remaining unknown.

The clandestine arrangement, sources added, has been ongoing for over a month now, which could damage the reputation of regional leader Said Abdullahi Deni, who has been under siege from local leaders.

The sources further claimed the Emirati soldiers estimated at 180 in number, are stationed at the bases of the PMPF, the UAE-trained and funded maritime police force in the coastal city of Puntland in northern Somalia. The elite police are trained to tackle piracy in the porous Somali coastline.

Until now, it remains unknown if the Somali government is aware of the UAE troops' arrival in Bossaso, which comes at a critical time when the term of Puntland's current President Deni is ending, and the state is facing a political stalemate over a planned controversial municipal election.

For decades, Somalia has had diplomacy tussles with UAE, which escalated during Mohammed Abdullahi Farmajo, leading to strained relationships. For instance, Farmajo intercepted close to $9.6 million that UAE had donated to the country to help pay the Somali National Army.

But Villa Somalia, at that time, questioned the intent of the money, claiming that there was a conspiracy to undermine authority in the country. Central Bank of Somalia released the funds following the change of regime, which saw Hassan Sheikh Mohamud bounce back, and have since been diverted to mitigation of drought.

On record, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is on good terms with UAE, but it is unclear if he is aware of the developments. Upon taking over from Mohammed Abdullahi Farmajo, Hassan Sheikh did visit UAE, where he held talks with the Middle East nation and pledged close collaboration between the two countries.

In Puntland, Deni is facing a revolt from a number of local politicians who accuse him of dictatorship, something which has frequently been dismissed. Last year, a couple of opposition parties accused him of manipulating local polls, leading to the victory of his party in the first direct poll within the state.

Earlier this year, Deni also came under sharp criticism from a number of stakeholders following the differences between the Puntland regional forces and the elite troops who the United States initially funded. Clan elders would later solve the stalemate.

Somalia has been tackling internal challenges triggered by political differences, and at the same time, the al-Shabaab

gunnies have seized the opportunity to unleash terror on innocent people. Puntland, however, has remained relatively peaceful save for the latest political dramas engineered by the current administration.

Speaker of Yemeni Parliament reminds international community of illegitimacy of 'parliament members' who serve Saudi coalition
[HODHODYEMENNEWS] The Speaker of the Parliament, Yahya Ali al-Ra’i, on Tuesday condemned the signing of a cooperation protocol by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) with impersonators of the Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
i parliament resident in Riyadh hotels.

In a letter he addressed to the IPU’s Secretary-General, Martin Chungong, al-Ra’i clarified that the Parliament of the Republic of Yemen had previously revoked the membership of those impersonating the Yemeni parliament, and they no longer have any legitimate or constitutional status linking them to the Yemeni people, because of their betrayal of the homeland and bringing aggression against it.

He pointed out that the Saudi-led aggression coalition and its mercenaries had destroyed the capabilities and infrastructure of the Yemeni people, and used internationally prohibited weapons to bomb schools, mosques, markets, funerals, wedding halls, drinking water wells, roads, bridges, hospitals and homes.

The Parliament Speaker pointed out that the signing of this protocol reflects the double standards despite the knowledge of IPU that the Parliament in the Republic of Yemen holds its sessions permanently at its constitutional headquarters in the capital, Sana’a, and so it is concerned with signing such protocols, as it is the legitimate and constitutional representative of the Yemeni people.

"It suffices for us to be proud that we are steadfast on our land, defend our cause, and derive our legitimacy from our steadfast people in the face of brutal aggression and unjust siege," al-Ra’i said.

Al-Ra’i wondered, "Since when do the elected parliamentary bodies and unions deal with impersonators and those fleeing their homelands instead of the elected official authorities and bodies?"
