Russian teen detained in Kazan on mass shooting plot
[TASS] Federal Security Service agents in Kazan detained a teenager that plotted an armed attack on an educational institution, the agency’s press service told TASS on Tuesday.

The agency, known as FSB, said the planned "mass murder" was instigated by a Ukrainian national, named Yaroslav Ovsyuk and living in Ukraine, via the Telegram messenger.

Agents seized items from the suspect’s home that included an airgun, communications devices whose browser history contained search queries about repurposing the airgun for combat, and materials describing armed attacks on educational institutions.

Russia’s Investigations Committee in the Tatarstan region, which includes Kazan, has opened a criminal case against the suspect, who wasn’t identified, on charges of premeditating a murder of two or more people.

#1  Wouldn't that be a "triggering" event denying intel on whether you've launched the big boys?

#2  I tried to read the article, but it required me to disable my ad blocker, so no.

If the satellites are destroyed, the icbm's, sub launched missiles, and airborne launch platforms are not useless, they are unimpaired, just behind the curve but not by much. Sats are not all that are used to detect a launch.

Like I said, I didn't get to read the article but the headline smells like bullshit from here.

As Skid says, loss of sats would be a trigger.

This field used to be my life's work.

#3  Yeah, the Minutemen and Tridents use inertial and celestial guidance. GPS has been added as another cherry on top.
Posted by: M. Murcek || 11/24/2021 10:53 Comments || Top||

#4  Russian bluster. GPS sats are in medium orbit (~20,000 km) well above the A235 interceptor's capability. The older cruise missiles also use radar based TERCOM, and as said by M Murcek, strategic nuke missiles use internal guidance. GPS guided JDAMS also have inertial navigation backup which in most cases is good enough.
