Rochester Schools Superintendent Robert Shaner apologized to the family of a U.S. Army officer who was turned away from a district high school for wearing his uniform.
Lt. Col. Sherwood Baker went into Adams High School in Rochester Hills to talk to his daughter's counselor about her class schedule, but he was not allowed to enter the building because he was wearing his military uniform.
"They stopped him at the door and told him he couldn't go in because it was against policy," wife Rachel Ferhadson said.
Shaner, a veteran who served in the U.S. Marines from 1990-94, stressed that this is not the district's policy. He said the security company is contracted and that school officials have met with the security officers to make sure this doesn't happen again.
"I've been on deployment. I understand what people go through and the sacrifices people make. I understand the expectation to be respected for what you've done," Shaner said. "I understand that what has taken place deeply hurts people. We will correct it."
Other sources mentioned the wife saying "The security guard told him men and women in uniform were not allowed because it may offend another student."

I'll be someone in arab like clothing carrying a rather large, heavy [,ticking] satchel would be escorted right in. The guard would probably even offer to help carry the bomb documents.
Don't want to offend anyone right?

Update - The very top guy is an ex-Marine who was deployed on US missions also, and said the issue will be resolved with the contracted security company. He said the military uniform will be honored at his district.
[Fusion] Time to change your password again. A database containing nearly 5 million Gmail user accounts and passwords was leaked on Bitcoin Security, a popular Russian website devoted to the cryptocurrency.
The text file was published on Tuesday night by user tvskit, according to CNews, the Russian news outlet that first broke the story. The leaker claimed that the majority of the accounts belong to users who speak English, Russian, or Spanish, and that approximately 60 percent are active. The passwords not only give access to Gmail, but a slew of other Google services such as Drive and the mobile payment system Google Wallet.
Svetlana Anurova, a Google representative, told CNews that the tech giant is aware of the breach and encouraged users to select a stronger password and enable two-step verification, a security measure where users are required to provide a passcode sent to their mobile devices before any changes can be made to their account.
The Gmail leak comes on the heels of two other major security breaches leaked on the same Bitcoin forum, which targeted Russian email service prodiver Mail.ru and search engine Yandex. Those two breaches affected nearly 6 million Internet users.

"The security of our users' information is a top priority for us. We have no evidence that our systems have been compromised, but whenever we become aware that accounts may have been, we take steps to help those users secure their accounts."

[AnNahar] U.S. President Barack Obama Republicans can come along for the ride, but they've got to sit in the back... said Thursday that the United States would intensify sanctions in the defense, finance and energy sectors to punish Russia over its "illegal actions" in Ukraine, as the European Union ...the successor to the Holy Roman Empire, only without the Hapsburgs and the nifty uniforms and the dancing... said it could lift a new set of sanctions if a Ukraine ceasefire holds.

[Pak Daily Times] North Korea is ready to provide Japan with initial findings from a special investigating team that looked into the fate of Japanese citizens kidnapped by Pyongyang's agents decades ago, Kyodo news agency quoted a North Korean diplomat as saying.
North Korea admitted in 2002 to kidnapping Japanese citizens; five abductees have since returned to Japan. Pyongyang had said the remaining eight were dead and that the issue was closed, but Japan pressed for more information about their fate and others that Tokyo believes were also kidnapped. Japan eased some sanctions on the reclusive state in July in return for Pyongyang's reopening of a probe into the abductees.
"What can be said is that we are conducting the investigation not only in a specific area, but all concurrently in a scientific and objective manner," Kyodo quoted Song Il-ho, North Korea's top negotiator in talks with Japan, as saying in an interview in Pyongyang on Wednesday. "We are fully prepared (to release the first report)." Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga has said the initial report will likely come out sometime between late summer and early autumn.

We're not saying that it'll necessarily be the truth, mind you, but it will be typed on some of the paper the UN monitors left behind, on a 1954 Underwood Deluxe typewriter recently acquired from Norway.

[Al Ahram] The Ukrainian authorities acknowledged on Thursday that pro-Russian rebels had extended their control over territory on the eastern border with Russia to the Sea of Azov. The announcement by the National Security and Defence Council follows a lightning offensive across the southeast area launched by the pro-Russian separatists last month.

Convenient for control of both sides of the Kerch. And Crimean logistics.
[CTVNEWS.CA] Federal Finance Minister Joe Oliver will announce Thursday a small business tax credit that will save business owners about half a billion dollars over the next two years, CTV News has learned.
The tax credit, which will help offset employment insurance premiums, will benefit up to 90 per cent of small businesses in Canada, CTV's Ottawa Bureau Chief Robert Fife reported Wednesday night.
The Canadian Federation of Independent Business estimates the measure will create 25,000 new jobs over the next two years.
The announcement comes as Prime Minister Stephen Harper prepares to put a major focus on jobs and the economy when Parliament resumes next week.
Opposition parties have been saying for some time that employment insurance premiums are too high and should be slashed for both businesses and employees.

When the Shale Oil thing kicked off, the Canadian Government couldn't help but notice that there's a lot of small contractors involved, and, well, being small, without the 'benefits' of a large corporate accounting department to watch them, tend to spray money around quite freely.
This it mean to help that process.

[ARABNEWS] The Philippines on Thursday put on display dozens of ancient maps which officials said showed that China's territorial claims over the South China Sea did not include a disputed shoal at the center of an acrimonious standoff.
The Philippines is in dispute with China over parts of the South China Sea, including the Scarborough Shoal, an area believed to be rich in oil and natural gas as well as fisheries resources.
China seized control of the shoal in June 2012 and has prevented Philippine fishermen from getting close to the rocky outcrop, a rich fishing ground.

When the insular government of the Heavenly Kingdom literally broke up Zheng He's fleet, they threw away all claims to that which laid beyond the coasts and waters. For them, the Kingdom was the center of the universe and nothing else was worthy of their attention.

Its NOT enough for the PHIL, VIETNAM, + ASEAN in general to claim interests in the disputed seas - they M-U-S-T be able to able to militarily + unilaterally defend their claims from any + all comers.
Unless the Bammer or successor is willing to base 1-3 "NIMITZ" - CLASS CVNS' + OTHER MAJOR OR HEAVY MIL ASSETS in the region to back them up, China is just going to be PC + all but absolutely ignore the rants-n-raves of the PHIL, VIETNAM, + ASEAN. ETC.
FYI, asper News + Mil Blogs a recent survey indicates that most Chinese believe there will be a war between their country + JAPAN, IMO among other to broadly decide which country will be Asia's #1.
Iff such a conflict occurs, China + [still-modernizing] PLA may initially suffer setbacks, but it will NOT stop its war wid Japan until final victory or defeat.
