She was born Vina Fay Wray near Cardston, Alberta, Canada, on September 15, 1907. Fay was from a large family that included five siblings. She moved to Arizona when she was still small in order for her father to find better work than what was offered in Alberta. After moving again to California, her parents divorced, which put the rest of the family in hard times. Being in entertainment-rich Los Angeles, there was ample opportunity to take advantage of the chances that might come her way in the entertainment industry.
At the age of 16, Fay played her first role in a motion picture, albeit a small one. The film was Gasoline Love (1923) in 1923. The film was not a hit, nor was it a launching vehicle for her career. It would be two more years before she ever got another chance. When it did come, it was another lackluster film called The Coast Patrol (1925). The only thing it did for Fay was give her a slightly more prominent role than the film two years earlier. Four more films followed in 1926, and her career finally left the ground. She was noticed to the extent that the Western Association of Motion Pictures chose her as one of 13 starlets most likely to succeed in film. After three films in 1927, the following year established Fay as an actress to be reckoned with. She played the lead, Mitzi Schrammell, in the hit The Wedding March (1928). She had made the successful transition into the "talkie" era when most performers' services were no longer needed because of the sound of their voices on film. In 1933, Fay appeared in eleven films, including The Big Brain (1933), The Vampire Bat (1933), and Ann Carver's Profession (1933). But it was another film that placed her in a role that is remembered to this day. That year she played Ann Darrow in the classic King Kong (1933). After that, Fay came by more and better roles, but she is best remembered for that one performance. The movie wound up being named one of the 100 greatest films of all time by the American Film Institute in 1998 (and again in AFI's 2007 list, rising two spots to #41). She continued her pace in films, making eleven films again in 1934, including Once to Every Woman (1934), Viva Villa! (1934), and Alias Bulldog Drummond (1935).
However, her career was now beginning the proverbial backward slide. Movie roles were becoming fewer and fewer with new stars on the horizon. Now it was Fay's services which were being curtailed. Her 11-year marriage to John Monk Saunders ended in a painful divorce. After Not a Ladies' Man (1942), Fay was not in another film until Treasure of the Golden Condor (1953). The films she appeared in during the latter 1950s were not much to write home about, and several were some of the weakest ever projected. Her last performance before the cameras was a made-for-television movie, Gideon's Trumpet (1980). Fay Wray died of natural causes on August 8, 2004. She was an excellent actress who never was given a chance to live up to her potential, especially after being cast in a number of horror films in the 1930s. Given the right role, Fay could have had her star up alongside the great actresses of the day. No matter: she remains a bright star from cinema's golden era.

A MYSTERIOUS DRONE — An unidentified drone was filmed while reportedly loitering over the Abdullahkhel area of Dara District in Panjshir. Several videos have been posted, lending credibility to the reports. The drone appeared to loiter for a couple of hours before it was observed moving off to the north. It is unclear which country or group owns and operated the drone.
FACEBOOK CRACKDOWN? — Several members of the small ulema who met in Kandahar recently made calls to shut down access to Facebook access in Afghanistan. Two unnamed advisors to Supreme Leader Hibatullah declared that the social media site is corrosive to morality. Leading religious figures have also stated that Afghans should be spending their money on necessities, not Facebook, despite no evidence that Afghans are directing income toward the site.
CONTROVERSIAL LAND REFORM — The Taliban began a land reform program in Takhar province that mirrors operations that began in Herat earlier this year. Local sources stated that a controversial program began on Monday to settle recently arrived nomads, reportedly from Pakistan, in the province on plots of land owned by local inhabitants with minority backgrounds. Local inhabitants are concerned the Taliban’s strategy is to displace ethnic/religious minorities with populations who are perceived to be loyal to the Pashtun factions of the Taliban. The local communities have protested the program to Taliban authorities but have not received any indication that the program will be halted. Historically, land reform programs have resulted in violence.

A NEW TALIBAN STRATEGY IN THE NORTH — The new special military commander for Panjshir, Abdul Qayyum Zakir, has called a meeting with local commanders in order to discuss a new strategy for how Taliban forces in the north can more effectively deal with Resistance forces. A source in the Ministry of Defense says that several of the current commanders will be relieved at this meeting and replaced. Security at the meeting has been increased, and there is an expectation of violence.

[Garowe] A military court in Somalia has slapped 15 al-Shabaab ...... the personification of Somali state failure... murderous Moslems with various sentences after they pleaded guilty to terrorism-related charges, in what comes as a reprieve in the fight against the group, which has been terrorizing innocent civilians for over a decade.
The al-Shabaab group which controls large swathes of rural central and southern Somalia is an affiliate of al-Qaeda. The group has been fighting to control the country but efforts by security forces have several thwarted the attempts.
According to reports, the 15 were convicted in Baidoa, the regional administrative capital of Southwest state, having pleaded to various charges. Somalia has a weak judicial system but it's the military court that has tried to restore some order.
Further reports indicate that one person was convicted for trying to execute an attack using a grenade and he has to stay in prison for the next 15 years. Yet again, six of the convicts will have to serve ten years while the remaining will serve five years each in prison.
Interestingly, in the team which will serve for five years, three are women. It's rare to have women participating in al-Shabaab attacks but in most cases, they are used as accomplices and in some instances, they can personally carry out the attacks.
Further, one of the women who was sentenced had her initial five-year sentence suspended a few years ago before being convicted today for a related crime. The blind lady is accused of handling and storing weapons for al-Shabaab Death Eaters.
The reprieve comes about four days after al-Shabaab raided Somalia's capital Mogadishu where they killed over 21 people mostly civilians. The attack has been widely condemned around the world, with PM Hamza Abdi insisting that the government would take responsibility.

SaharaReporters gathered that the snuffies invaded the town on Monday evening, shooting sporadically as hundreds of residents of the community fled into the forests for safety.
"We don’t have all the details yet but the Nigerian troops are currently engaging the forces of Evil in Chibok," a competent source revealed.
Chibok community first came into the limelight in 2014 after Boko Haram snuffies attacked a Government Girls Secondary School in the community, and kidnapped over 200 school girls.
While some managed to escape from their abductors and others were rescued through government interventions, many remain unaccounted for.
In 2022, the town has experienced multiple attacks by snuffies who also kidnapped many residents, especially women and kiddies.
Also, churches in the community were razed by the snuffies during the attacks.
SaharaReporters had in May 2022 reported that the forces of Evil attacked and released photographs of their assault on Kautikari village in the Chibok LGA.
ISWAP had earlier claimed its fighters killed 10 Christians during the attack.
The snuffies had on May 3 ransacked the community.
A military base stationed in the town was also dislodged by the terrorists.

[REUTERS] Far-right leader Giorgia Meloni, leading the race to become Italia's next prime minister, was accused on Monday of shameful electioneering by her rivals after posting a video of a Ukrainian woman being raped by a migrant in an Italian city.
The 55-year-old woman was assaulted on a pavement in the city of Piacenza early Sunday by an asylum seeker from Guinea,

local officials said. The incident was videoed by someone in a flat overlooking the street and the assailant was arrested.
Police confirmed the arrest and said the man was being detained as the investigation continued.
Meloni, whose Brothers of Italia party heads the polls ahead of a Sept. 25 national election, tweeted the video, which had been posted on a newspaper website with the image blurred but the woman's cries clearly audible.
"One cannot remain silent in the face of this atrocious episode of sexual violence against a Ukrainian woman carried out in daytime in Piacenza by an asylum seeker," Meloni wrote.
"A hug to this woman. I will do everything I can to restore security to our cities."

Ah. This means that we are about to get an important update on the victimization hierarchy--are blacks or homosexuals the bigger victims? Wait and see if this story gets memory-holed or if it has legs.

[Rudaw]- The security forces in Sulaimani on Tuesday announced the arrest of 17 suspected members of the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) who "confessed" to have planned to assassinate prominent clergymen and Peshmerga commanders. They also published ISIS propaganda.
Sulaimani internal security forces (Asayish) said in a statement late Tuesday that they recently observed the activities of a group of people who "planned to assassinate a number of top Peshmerga commanders and clergymen."
Asayish said they arrested two members of the ISIS-affiliated group in a busy place in Sulaimani downtown on August 14 but a civilian, Ahmed Shawkat, was killed during the clash that ensued. His death was announced by the Kurdish force the same day.
Other five members of the group were arrested in the following days, including two women.
Another group of suspected ISIS members, who had links with the first group, were monitored by Asayish. Before their arrest, some of them tried to join ISIS fighters in the disputed areas, according to Asayish.
Another five suspects were arrested too but their identities will be revealed later as they are still being interrogated.
The ethnicity of the arrestees was not mentioned in the Asayish statement, but those who "confessed" their ISIS link in a video shared by the security forces spoke in Kurdish.
Some of the suspects said in their "confessions" that they joined ISIS through social media platforms, with some later publishing the terror group’s propaganda on social media.
"I learnt about the Islamic State ideology through social media in 2017. Later, I met a number of people who had done the same, " said the 32-year-old Mohammed Ibrahim, one of the arrestees, in the Asayish video.
Some of them are also accused of damaging shrines they deem unacceptable and distorting the Kurdistan flag.

[IsraelTimes] Military vehicle damaged when troops come under fire in Tubas; cache of gun parts found in town near Jerusalem; no injuries reported
Israeli troops operated extensively throughout the West Bank overnight Monday, arresting 18 wanted Paleostinians and seizing several firearms, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The IDF said that troops spotted two suspects hurling Molotov cocktails at the West Bank settlement of Migdal Oz. Soldiers dispatched to the scene detained one of the Paleostinians and found a makeshift gun in the area. Another two Paleostinians were detained in nearby villages overnight.
In the Paleostinian town of Yatta, near Hebron, soldiers and coppers seized a makeshift "Carlo" submachine gun, arresting one person in the process.
Border Police officers detained four Paleostinians in the town of Qatanna, on the outskirts of Jerusalem, for allegedly being in possession of ammunition and dozens of weapon parts.
In the northern West Bank town of Tubas, where five suspects were arrested, the IDF said troops came under fire by Paleostinian button men, which caused damage to a military vehicle, but no soldiers were hurt. The IDF said that rocks and Molotov cocktails were also hurled at troops in the area.
The 18 suspects were taken to be questioned by the Shin Bet security agency.
[IsraelTimes] Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,-run interior ministry says cause of deadly explosion in Khan Younis still being investigated
The Israel Defense Forces said a deadly explosion on Tuesday in the southern Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... Strip was due to improperly stored weapons in the home of a terror group member.
The Hamas-run interior ministry in the Gaza Strip said one Paleostinian was killed and a child was maimed in the blast at a home in Khan Younis.
Unverified local media reports claimed a 9-year-old girl, Mira Attal, and the apartment’s owner, Nidal Attal, were killed in the earth-shattering kaboom, and several other people were hurt.
"Another tragedy in the Gaza Strip today," said Lt. Col. Richard Hecht, the IDF’s international media spokesperson. "Weapons stored unsafely in the house of a member of a Paleostinian terrorist group went kaboom! and killed a young child in the vicinity."
"These are the sad consequences of militarizing civilian areas for terrorist activity," Hecht added on Twitter.
The IDF has repeatedly accused Hamas and other terror groups of operating within civilian areas in the Gaza Strip.
The Hamas interior ministry statement, carried by Paleostinian media, said the cause of the earth-shattering kaboom was still under investigation. The identity of the person killed was not released by the ministry.
Damage was caused to the building in the southern Gaza city, images on social media showed.
There have been numerous incidents of explosions in the Gaza Strip due to improperly stored weapons over the years, according to the IDF.
[CNN] President Joe Biden ordered airstrikes against Iranian-backed groups in Syria on Tuesday, a little over a week after a number of rockets struck near a military base in northeastern Syria housing US troops.
The airstrikes conducted by the US military targeted Iranian-backed groups in Deir ez-Zor Syria, US Central Command said in a statement. The strikes targeted "infrastructure facilities used by groups affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps," Col. Joe Buccino, a spokesman for CENTCOM, said in the statement.
"At President Biden's direction, US military forces conducted precision airstrikes in Deir ez-Zor Syria today. These precision strikes are intended to defend and protect US forces from attacks like the ones on August 15 against US personnel by Iran-backed groups," he said, referring to last week's attack on the Green Village base near the Iraqi border. That attack did not result in damage or injuries.
Biden, according to the statement, "gave the direction for these strikes pursuant to his Article II authority to protect and defend US personnel by disrupting or deterring attacks by Iran-backed groups."
Buccino told CNN the US targeted a group of bunkers used for ammunition storage and logistics support by Iranian-backed groups in Syria. The US military monitored a total of 13 bunkers in the same complex extensively, Buccino said, totaling more than 400 hours of surveillance.
The strike was intended to target 11 of the bunkers, since the US could not be certain whether the other two bunkers were clear of people, Buccino said.
But shortly before CENTCOM carried out the strike, the military waved off two more of the bunkers because of a small group of people nearby. In the end, Buccino said the military struck nine bunkers in the complex in eastern Syria.
The goal of the strike was to destroy the bunkers, Buccino said, and according to an initial assessment, no one was killed as a result. Democrats go war LARPing

Well there is oil being exported from the US controlled areas in Sryia - and the Turkish and Iranian. The residue Syrian official government (backed by the Russians) is losing all that potential revenue. So far everyone has tried to only target the indigenous forces not the advisors. If US direct assets deliberately strike direct assets of one of the other players, tit for tat could easily escalate. The US supply chain is far longer than those of the other contestants. FWIW if we’d created an independent Kurdistan 20 years ago it’d have been a more tranquil situation - or at least a different set of more solvable problems

[RIA Novosti] The Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation have destroyed the Jabhat al-Nusra* terrorist camp involved in shelling in the province of Idlib, Major General Oleg Yegorov, deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties in Syria, said.
"The communication center and the headquarters of the militants, as well as the depot of artillery ammunition, were liquidated," he said at a briefing.
It is noted that the militants of Jabhat al-Nusra per day carried out one shelling in the Idlib de-escalation zone in Syria, one Syrian military was wounded.
Last week, it was reported that members of the group, together with the White Helmets organization, are preparing a provocation in the settlements of Eriha and Jisr al-Shughur in the province of Idlib - they planned to organize staged filming there to accuse the VKS of indiscriminate strikes on civilian infrastructure.
