[FoxNews] Investigators say in a federal search warrant affidavit that former inmates deported to Mexico have coordinated large-scale drug shipments to various locations, including Alger Correctional Facility in Munising, the Detroit News reported.
The affidavit outlines a years-long investigation, and identifies the accused drug kingpins involved in the prison drug smuggling conspiracy, according to the paper.
State corrections officers found a virtual drugstore after searching the cell of Alger inmate Dontay McMann in May.
Online records show McMann, 40, is serving lengthy sentence for murder and other crimes.
The court document doesn’t say how drugs have entered the prison, according to the paper. It also doesn’t say if any corrections officers were involved.
"There has been nothing found to suspect staff involvement at this time and no staff have been suspended/disciplined/fired," Michigan Department of Corrections spokesman Chris Gautz told the paper, while declining additional comment, citing the ongoing probe.
As of Friday, nobody had been charged and the investigation was ongoing, the paper reported.
The affidavit says the drug smuggling operation involves another Alger inmate, Juan Mejia, 47, who is doing time for drugs.
"Multiple confidential sources have stated that Mejia uses inmates who are serving life sentences (or long custodial sentences) to handle drug trafficking business," Drug Enforcement Administration Agent Michael Tighe wrote in the affidavit, according to the paper. "One confidential source that has spoke(n) directly to McMann about his drug trafficking confirmed that McMann works on behalf of Mejia."
Investigators seized more than 50 grams of meth, 120 doses of LSD, a digital scale, knife and more than 80 strips of Suboxone, a medication used to treat opiate addiction, after searching McMann’s cell, the paper reported.
They also found in the cell a contraband cellphone hidden in an electronic typewriter.
Not good. Unless in the process they sent an even greater number of various bad guys to the depths of Hell... or a nearby hospital for lengthy, painful, and ultimately futile treatment.
[KhaamaPress] The Office of the National Security Council confirmed that last week one of the deadliest weeks for the Afghan forces in the past 19 years during which at4 last 291 security personnel bit the dust.
Javid Faisal, a spokesperson for the Office of National Security Council, said the Talibs carried out 422 attacks in 32 provinces last week.
"The past week was the deadliest of the past 19 years. Taliban ...Arabic for students... carried out 422 attacks in 32 provinces, martyring 291 ANDSF members and wounding 550 others."
He also added "Taliban’s commitment to reduce violence is meaningless, and their actions inconsistent with their rhetoric on peace."
This comes as efforts underway to find a negotiated settlement to end the ongoing violence in Afghanistan.
Efforts are also underway to start intra-Afghan talks aimed at ending the ongoing violence in the country.
The U.S. and Taliban representatives signed a peace deal late in February this year with the release of prisoners being one of the key points for the launch of intra-Afghan talks.
Both the Afghan government and Taliban have so far released hundreds of prisoners to help the grinding of the peace processor.

Just reinforces the decision to get out after 19 years. No sense in being bogged down in an endless war. Afghans are going to decide whether they want to be ruled by the Talibunnies or be free.
[AnNahar] An Algerian soldier was killed during a clash with armed Islamists in the central region of Ain Defla, the defense ministry said Sunday, adding that an operation was still underway.
An army detachment clashed with "an armed terrorist group", during an ambush Saturday in the Gaadet Lahdjar area, in the prefecture of Ain Defla, killing corporal Mostafa Znanda, the ministry said in a statement.
Algerian authorities use the term "terrorist" to describe armed Islamists who have been active in the country since the early 1990s.
Security measures have been taken to seal and search the area and pursue the "criminals", the ministry added.
In May, the army announced it had killed two Islamists in the Ain Defla prefecture and seized weapons, ammunition and food products.
And in February, an Algerian soldier was killed in a car kaboom in Timiaouine, in the south of the country on the border with Mali.
The army regularly announces the arrest or death of bully boyz in different regions of the country.
In 2019, it said it had killed 15 armed Islamists and arrested 25 others, while another 44 had handed themselves in to authorities.
A civil war during the 1990s pitted Islamist bully boyz against the Algerian government, leaving 200,000 people dead.
Despite a 2005 charter for peace and reconciliation designed to turn the page on the conflict, armed Islamist groups still remain active in some areas of the country, largely targeting security forces.
[NEWS.YAHOO] Ivory Coast said Monday it had captured a jihadist who led a deadly attack on a frontier post this month and arrested a "very large" number of his subordinates."The commander of the team who led the action was taken yesterday," Defence Minister Hamed Bakayoko said at a military camp in Abidjan, during a speech honouring soldiers killed during the border raid.
He did not identify the individual or give any details about the capture.
"We will go further as the investigation progresses. We will know who he was in contact with, who is behind it," he said.
Bakayoko also said the authorities had carried out a "very large (number) of arrests of people directly involved" in the attack.
The military say "around 10" army personnel died and six were maimed on June 11 when dozens of jihadists mounted a pre-dawn attack at Kafolo, on the northeastern border with Burkina Faso ...The country in west Africa that they put where Upper Volta used to be. Its capital is Oogadooga, or something like that. Its president is currently Blaise Compaoré, who took office in 1987 and will leave office feet first, one way or the other... Other sources put the corpse count at 12, comprising 11 soldiers and a gendarme, and describe the raid as a reprisal for an anti-jihadist crackdown.
It was the first assault by Islamist gunnies on Ivorian soil since March 2016, when a raid on hotel terraces in the southeastern beach resort of Grand-Bassam left 19 people dead.
The latest attack was carried out by the Group to Support Islam and Moslems (GSIM), an organization linked to al-Qaeda, according to a source in Burkina Faso.
Bakayoko said the arrests of people who took part in the assault came thanks to photos retrieved from mobile phones.
On June 18, the Ivorian army said it had carried out a sweep in the Kafolo area and in the neighbouring Camoe National Park, a reputed haven for jihadists.
Troops picked up 27 people, destroyed logistical material and seized communications equipment, it said.

#UPDATE A Syrian doctor living in Germany has been arrested on suspicion of crimes against humanity in his country of origin, prosecutors said on Monday, in the latest German move against suspected war crimes in Syria https://t.co/J18JdsBM8Fpic.twitter.com/85VmtiJYsX
The suspect, identified as Alaa M., is accused of having "tortured a detainee ... in at least two cases" at a prison run by Syrian intelligence services in the city of Homs in 2011, said German federal prosecutors in a statement. Alaa M. left Syria in mid-2015 and moved to Germany, where he also practised as a doctor.
He was arrested in the state of Hesse on Friday and remains in pre-trial detention.
Having taken in more than 700,000 Syrian refugees since the start of the conflict, Germany has become a sometimes surreal theatre where victims of torture come face to face with their erstwhile torturers.
In April, the first court case worldwide over state-sponsored torture by Bashir al-Assad's regime opened in Germany -- after the suspects were brought to the notice of the authorities by their victims. The two defendants, former Syrian intelligence officers Anwar Raslan and Eyad al-Gharib, are being tried on the principle of universal jurisdiction, which allows a foreign country to prosecute crimes against humanity.
Last week, seven Syrians who allegedly suffered or witnessed rape and sexual abuse in detention centres under Assad's government submitted a criminal complaint to prosecutors in Germany.
The four women and three men were held in various detention centres in Damascus, Aleppo and Hama between April 2011 and August 2013, according to the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR), a Berlin-based legal group. They were all victims or witnesses of torture and sexual violence, including rape, "electrical shocks to the genitals... and forced child sacrifice abortion", the ECCHR said.
They have named nine senior government and air force intelligence officials, including top Syrian intelligence officer Jamil Hassan, already the subject of an international arrest warrant.

Up to 500 rioters attacked police with stones and bottles after a white German teenager was arrested for a drugs offence
12 foreign nationals and three Germans of 'migrant background' were among the 24 arrested, police announced yesterday
Police say there was no sign of a political motivation, blaming alcohol and the 'party scene' for the outbreak of violence
19 police officers were hurt, 40 shops were attacked, 12 police vehicles were damaged, some of them so badly that they had to be taken out of service
Angela Merkel today condemned the violence as 'abhorrent' and said rioters had 'turned against their city'
From An Nahar, added after the midnight rollover for future reference:
Asked about the nationalities of the 12 non-Germans who were detailed, Stuttgart deputy police chief Thomas Berger said they stemmed from a range of countries from Croatia and Portugal to Afghanistan and Somalia.

Allahu Snackbar? Damn, now we will never know what their motives were.
I do like the circumlocution of "migrant background", though. Usually the Germans are a bit more down to earth. Of course, we should note this is being passed thru the Daily Mail journalism filter and that the actual German might be closer Arabischer Schweinehund

Not as far as I can tell from Deutsche Welle and other English language sources, SteveS. For the most part migrant background is as much information as is shared, and that is used to include East Europeans. A Deutsche Welle report doesn’t even say that much — were it not for the names, one would have no idea they weren’t all blond, blue eyed Teutons. Link.

[WATE] The U.S. Attorney’s Office has charged 18-year-old Dominic Brown of Heiskell with inciting a riot and civil disorder.
Allegedly, Brown was attempting to organize a riot at West Town Mall from messages he had posted on his Snapchat account.
They say Brown was arrested on Monday, and made his initial appearance in the U.S. District Court in Knoxville on Monday as well.
The complaint also alleges that, on May 31, Brown was observed by law enforcement officers participating in a civil disorder in the downtown area of Market Square. Law enforcement officers observed Brown picking up a trash can lid filled with an unknown liquid and striking a law enforcement officer in the head while the officer was seated in a police vehicle. Brown attempted to flee, but was ultimately arrested by Knoxville coppers.
KPD says the group then traveled north on Gay Street, where one person threw an object into a police SUV, hitting an officer in the head. The officer was uninjured. The 18-year-old male suspect, later identified as Dominic Brown, was then arrested and charged with assault, disorderly conduct, evading arrest, resisting arrest and inciting a riot.

Mayor Jenny Durkan said at a news conference that the violence was distracting from changes sought by thousands of peaceful protesters seeking to address racial inequity and police brutality. She said the city is working with the community to bring the "Capitol Hill Occupied Protest" zone to an end.

[BREITBART] U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in the Texas Rio Grande Valley seized more than 137 pounds of methamphetamine at the Brownsville/Matamoros International Bridge last week. Officials valued the seizure at more than $2.7 million.Rio Grande Valley Sector CBP officers assigned to the Brownsville/Matamoros International Bridge on June 17 observed a tan 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe approaching from Mexico for inspection. Officers identified the driver as a 72-year-old Mexican man. The officers referred the driver to a secondary inspection station, according to information obtained from CBP officials.
In the secondary inspection area, officers scanned the truck with a non-intrusive imaging system. A K-9 also conducted a preliminary walk around. The K-9 alerted to the possible presence of drugs and the imaging system detected anomalies in the cargo being transported.
A physical search of the truck led to the discovery of numerous packages believed to contain methamphetamine.
Officials seized the 137.57 pounds of methamphetamine estimated to be worth approximately $2,751,341. The also seized the pickup truck and arrested the Mexican man. All were turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigation for further investigation and referral of drug smuggling charges.
"Our CBP officers remain committed in securing our borders and keeping these dangerous narcotics off our streets," said Port Director Tater Ortiz, Brownsville Port of Entry. "Our officers’ continued hard work and dedication to our border security mission led to this significant seizure."
The following day, Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol agents seized another $1 million in drugs in a series of busts. The seized drugs included 965 pounds of marijuana and 577 Xanax pills.

[NEWS.YAHOO] The new top federal prosecutor in Manhattan has announced her first case since the weekend's upheaval: the arrest of a U.S. Army soldier charged with plotting a bushwhack of his unit in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... by bully boys.
In a release, Acting U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss called Ethan Melzer, 22, of Louisville, Kentucky, "the enemy within."
She said he plotted to let members of an bully boy group descend on his unit by providing details about its location an security arrangements.
She identified the group he tried to work with as the Order of the Nine Angles, also known as O9A, described in the release as an occult-based neo-Nazi ...adherents of a philosophy that was seen even at the time as pure evil, which makes them either consciously and purely evil, or attention-seeking ratbags. Pick one, or both.... and racially motivated violent bully boy group.
"Melzer was motivated by racism and hatred as he attempted to carry out this ultimate act of betrayal," Strauss said.
William F. Sweeney Jr., head of the FBI's New York office, said: "Melzer declared himself to be a traitor against the United States, and described his own conduct as tantamount to treason. We agree."

[AmThinker] Faced with this provocation, chin-mask guy starts babbling about systemic discrimination. And that’s when the vendor turns the table on him.
"Two days ago, I lost my money. How about you reimburse me for that. I’m a minority. Give me your money," he says, holding out a mock pleading hand. "I’m a minority. Give me my reparations."
Suddenly, the chin-mask guy is done talking about systemic oppression. He’s offended. "For what?" he demands.
"Because I’ve been oppressed. I’m a minority."
Like Pavlov’s dog, chin-mask guy latches on to a magic word. "Yes," he says, nodding his head rapidly, "you’ve been oppressed. You’ve definitely been oppressed."
"So give me my rights. You’re white. Give me my reparations. Give me my reparations!"
Chin-mask is on board. "Yes. You have my promise of reparations." He does not, however, dig into his wallet. Instead, puzzled, he asks, "How am I going to give you reparations?"
That’s a foolish question because the vendor has already told him how real reparations should work. Chin-mask guy is white and he’s admitted his white guilt, so he, personally, should dig into his pocket.
