[American Thinker] As cities burn and statues come down, many want you to believe that U.S. is doomed or that the leftist mobs will tear down every sign of traditional values.
Yes, some monuments will be vandalized and buildings burned down.
But eventually, the storyline will change.
What we are really watching is the collapse of "blue districts" and cities.
For years, we've heard that "racism" or poverty excuses. Yet the story is very different. The issue is not really racism, but dysfunctional societies run by Democrats, as Angela Kelley wrote:
Poverty is not, as the Left would have us believe, owing to a lack of social safety-net funding. "According to the U.S Department of Energy's Residential Energy Consumption Survey... Over 99 percent [of those classified below the poverty level] have a refrigerator, television, and stove or oven. Eighty-one percent have a microwave; 75 percent have air conditioning; 67 percent have a second TV; 64 percent have a clothes washer; 38 percent have a personal computer." In the United States, most poor people (over 80 percent) have cell phones. People are not living in abject poverty as they do in third world countries, where people are starved for the basic necessities of food, clothing, clean water, and housing.
And let's not ignore the problem of absentee fathers. Psychology Today notes that children without fathers in their home are susceptible to "diminished self-concept and compromised physical and emotional security, behavioral problems, truancy and poor academic performance, delinquency and youth crime, including violent crime, promiscuity, and teen pregnancy, drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness, exploitation and abuse, physical health problems, mental health disorders, life chances, future relationships, [and] mortality."
In Illinois, 23 percent of one-parent households are headed by Caucasians. By comparison, 39 percent of Hispanic/Latino households and a whopping 73 percent of African American households are single-parent homes. The numbers are fairly consistent in states with the largest cities. In New York, 64 percent of African-Americans come from single-parent households; in Minnesota, it's 50 percent; in Pennsylvania, it's 71 percent; in California, it's 62 percent, and in Washington, D.C., it is a disturbing 78 percent.
The largest cities in these states have been run by Democrats for years.
Yes, they have.
The bad news is that there will be more accusations of racism and riots. The good news is that we are watching the end of these cities, and that's good for African-Americans hoping for a better life.

[FOX] As I was talking Thursday with John Heubusch, the brilliant and dedicated executive director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, it was really driven home to me what a dangerous period we are living through.
The Reagan Institute is one of the great institutions dedicated to preserving and teaching about the past. Its library and historic collection of exhibits about President and Mrs. Reagan are enormously helpful to historians and the public. Its education program for young people teaches them interactively by using real events in the Reagan presidency. It is a genuine national asset.

The mobs which are mindlessly wandering the streets of America toppling statues and defacing monuments are reinforced by the academic mob which wants to cleanse libraries of books it deems inappropriate.

[Free Beacon] Tennessee lawmakers on Friday passed a "heartbeat bill" banning abortion once a fetal heartbeat is detected—a regulation on abortion that has run into legal challenges in several states.
The bill makes any abortion performed after a fetal heartbeat is detected a felony. Detection of the fetal heartbeat generally occurs six weeks into a pregnancy, and the bill prohibits abortions based on a fetus's race, sex, or disability.
The bill also creates exceptions for situations where the health of the mother is in danger.
Tennessee governor Bill Lee (R.) cheered the passage of the bill, which is awaiting his signature, on Twitter.

Notice as the 'Empire' has retreated how many of the 'old' places certainly haven't taken off to join the ranks of first world countries. New boss, like the (pre-empire) old boss, just better threads and toys.
[SHTFplan] We should all be prepared for what’s coming next. In order to prepare effectively, we need to know what will happen when the economy finally collapses under its own weight. The creation of money out of thin air could only go on for so long, and we are approaching the end.
Epic Economist put together a great video detailing the 15 things (and yes, some are a little scary) that will happen when the economy collapses. At this point in time and history, it is no surprise that an economic collapse is coming for us. When the world’s largest economy is deep down in a recession, many other countries will not be late to follow the same path.
The financial breakdown the world is about to face over the next few years will be an unprecedented catastrophe, especially considering that the underlying problems from previous crashes were never fixed, only mended together. A real repair would require a complete restructuration in the system, and the elites were never interested in fixing the system that they set up to screw the rest of us.

I've lived outdoors recreationally and paid perfectly good money to take a chance on drowning on whitewater rivers (can I even say whitewater now?) I've killed and cooked my own food. Actually made an improvised shelter or two. I like my chances better than Meggie Moo's or Brian Stelter's.

[Townhall] Ben & Jerry's, the ice cream company, is calling on Americans to defund and dismantle the so-called "racist" police. The company made the demand in a tweet that included an image of ice cream representing the country's police budget being scooped into smaller bowls representing various welfare programs, like "affordable housing" and "substance-abuse treatment." The same company that can't figure out how to get glyphosate, the weed-killing ingredient found in Roundup, out of their ice cream is now telling us how to police our streets.

[The Daily Beest] As one of the very few left-leaning personalities still left on Fox News, Juan Williams has never fit in very well with his co-hosts on The Five. That division was laid bare Thursday afternoon when Williams managed to speak uninterrupted for more than a few seconds and left his colleagues speechless.
The dramatic moment came at what ended up being the final seconds of a segment about Black Lives Matter protesters in Olympia, Washington and the "woke vandals" who damaged the home of that city’s mayor.
For the vast majority segment, Williams couldn’t get a word in edgewise as Jesse Watters whined about the "circular firing squad" of activists and politicians on the left. Or as Dana Perino put it, "The mob giveth and the mob taketh away."
It wasn’t until almost six minutes in that moderator Greg Gutfeld finally turned to the panel’s only black commentator to "take us home."
"Well, you know, my take on this is a little different than the rest of the gang," Williams began. "Because to me, it comes down to one point. Americans have the right to a peaceful protest, to a peaceful assembly."
Of course they do. But Antifa and Black Lives Matter are working on the violent overthrow of the American government, which is not among the enumerated or implied rights Americans have.

Ousting Jefferson would send a message — but not one of tolerance or a commitment to racial justice. At best, it is about appeasing the ignorant and the horribly mistaken, who’ve convinced themselves that Jefferson’s ideals, and America’s, have always been nothing but a sham.
No matter that, echoing down the ages, Jefferson’s words and ideas, and those of his fellow Founders, have slowly inspired this nation to become better — to move closer to living as free and equal men and women.
The Death Eaters don’t care. High on their own righteousness, they’re demanding scalps — defunded police, dethroned statues — to prolong the buzz.
With their letter asking for Jefferson’s removal from the City Council chamber, Speaker Corey Johnson and several colleagues are at best playing along out of pure ambition, looking to ride the furious wave to greater power.

New Yorkers voted for him, so they deserve him... has opted to punt the issue to another commission led by his wife, charged with pondering a whole new wave of monument removals, building renamings, etc. — which adds up to stalling until he can see how the wind is blowing in the long term.
