And don't forget the resources a fleet carrier has with it , overhead satellites for recon and communication . Escorts with a wide assortment of UAV's. Anti-submarine and escorting submarines. and etc.

...I would point out that just a week or two back, we were being told that Ford was still working on those damned munitions elevators, and that they were 'almost there'. Maybe she was in better shape than we were led to believe?

Too bad they're not useful against coup plotters.

Yeah, nice floating duck. The reply usually involves full launch of various strategic missiles. Theirs involve hitting major Blue urban areas*. Ours will take out their ability to rule and control what they already have let alone worry about adding more to their basket.
* at this point, how could you tell the difference in results, other than shutting down those Legacy Infotainment Enterprises?

There was a reason that the US invested a lot of money in the F-14/Tomcat/AIM-54 Phoenix system. To force an enemy attack further away.... Now we have F/A-18's with a much shorter reach.

Impressive but these floating airports are sitting ducks.
The USN conducted a SINKEX on CV-66, USS America, a Kitty Hawk class carrier, they threw a lot at the old girl and she would not go under. Finally, they resorted scuttling her. My point, carriers are exceedingly difficult to sink.

[SPUTNIKNEWS] A group of armed assailants attacked a village in Nigeria’s northern state of Kaduna in the early hours of Tuesday, killing 15 people and injuring five others, the police said.
"On 12/05/2020 at about 0120hrs (00:20 GMT), the Command received a distress call ... that a group of gunnies in large number on Motor Bikes invaded Gonar Rogo a remote village in Kufana district ... The attackers started shooting sporadically attacking the villagers and in the process shot and killed fifteen (15) persons, and injured five (5) others", the front man for the state’s police said, as quoted by Nigeria’s Daily Post.
According to the front man, the attackers expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, and the manhunt is still ongoing. A police reinforcement has been deployed to patrol the area, he added.
The newspaper earlier reported, citing the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), that 17 people had been killed and six others had been critically injured in the atrocious attack. According to SOKAPU, the attack was committed by Fulani ... a peculiarly brutal tribe of Moslem herdsmen infesting Mali, Niger, Nigeria, and probably other places that are light on law and order and heavy on tribal identity... ethnic militias.

[AA.TR] At least 16 people were killed and injured Tuesday in Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... ’s southern province of Abyan ...a governorate of Yemen. The region was a base to the Aden-Abyan Islamic Army terrorist group until it dropped the name and joined al-Qaeda. Its capital is Zinjibar. In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Yemeni government forces launched an effort to re-establish control of the region when President-for-Life Saleh was tossed and the carnage continues... during festivities between militia of the United Arab Emirates-backed Southern Transition Council (STC) and government forces.
A local official who requested anonymity said one soldier from the government forces was killed while five others were maimed during fighting in rural areas of the scenic provincial capital Zinjibar.
Ten militia members were also killed and injured, said the official, adding many were detained as well.
Earlier in the day, the Yemeni army announced that it was preparing for an operation against the STC militia in Zinjibar.
On April 26, the STC declared self-governance and a state of emergency in Aden and southern provinces. Since then, festivities have occurred between them and government forces.

[SPUTNIKNEWS] A court in the southern Italian city of Bari on Tuesday sentenced a 22-year-old Somali man to 104 months in prison for plotting a terrorist attack in the Vatican, national media have reported.
Mohsin Ibrahim Omar, also known as Yusuf, was convicted on international terrorism charges.
The man was arrested in Bari in December 2018 on suspicion of conducting terrorist activities. According to Sherlocks, he was trained in an Islamist school in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi.
In the past, the convict had links to Somali’s al-Shabaab ...... the personification of Somali state failure... turban group that is affiliated with the al-Qaeda* terror group. al-Shabaab is known, among other things, for kidnapping Silvia Romano, an Italian aid worker, in Kenya in November 2018. She was released last week.
Omar plotted to detonate a bomb at St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City during a Christmas mass that traditionally draws plenty of believers. The Italian intelligence agency believes that the man was in contact with a Somali cell of the ISIS* terror group.
Surely it isn’t doing the same thing when it’s a different technology, so surely it won’t get the same reaction from Israel, right?
[IsraelTimes] Paleostinian newspaper reports national security adviser cautioned terror group that IDF will shoot down unmanned aircraft if cross-border flights don’t stop.
The Israel Defense Forces has allegedly spotted drones that crossed into Israeli airspace for several minutes before returning to the Strip, the al-Quds newspaper reported.
The report said National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat conveyed a message via Egypt’s intelligence that if those "provocations" don’t stop, the IDF would be forced to shoot down the unmanned aircraft.
Israel reportedly believes the drones are operated by the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad ...created after many members of the Egyptian Moslem Brotherhood decided the organization was becoming too moderate. Operations were conducted out of Egypt until 1981 when the group was exiled after the assassination of President Anwar Sadat. They worked out of Gaza until they were exiled to Lebanon in 1987, where they clove tightly to Hezbollah. In 1989 they moved to Damascus, where they remain a subsidiary of Hezbollah... (PIJ) terror group, an internal partner — and sometimes rival — of Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,, which has ruled the Strip since taking over in a bloody coup in 2007 and openly seeks Israel’s destruction.
Israel generally holds Hamas responsible for any attacks or threats emanating from Gazoo ...Hellhole adjunct to Israel and Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, inhabited by Gazooks. The place was acquired in the wake of the 1967 War and then presented to Paleostinian control in 2006 by Ariel Sharon, who had entered his dotage. It is currently ruled with an iron fist by Hamaswith about the living conditions you'd expect. It periodically attacks the Hated Zionist Entity whenever Iran needs a ruckus created or the hard boyz get bored, getting thumped by the IDF in return. The ruling turbans then wave the bloody shirt and holler loudly about oppression and disproportionate response... , hoping it can put other terror groups under control.
Lebanese Hezbollah's official Al-Manar TV is reporting that Israeli military aircraft have been flying over areas of southern Lebanon today--including Nabatieh and Iqlim al-Tuffah--"and carrying out mock airstrikes at low altitude."

Israeli war planes launched an air attack on guerrilla positions in the hills and valleys of Iqlim al-Tuffah, a guerrilla stronghold that faces the Israeli-occupied border enclave. ... Iqlim al-Tuffah is a frequent target for Israeli warplanes, is said to be used extensively by the Iranian-backed Hezbollah guerrilla group.
