Salah Badi is a known divisive figure. Some see him as defending the country. Others see him as a spoiler who takes up arms when he doesn’t get his way. As part of the Libya Dawn coalition, Badi' Islamist militia fought against colonel Khalifa Haftar in Operation Dignity (OD). OD captured Tripoli and destroyed its airport during fighting.
In August 2018 Badi left Turkey asylum and returned to Tripoli. He then supported an operation launched by the Tarhuna 7th Brigade to seize control of Tripoli from a coalition of other militias he accused of corruption.
He has been listed as a terrorist in the USA.
[ALMARSAD.CO] The Algerian Ministry of National Defense (MDN) announced that it captured the terrorist Younsi Kouider in the area of Debdeb, located in the province of Illizi which borders Libya.

[PUNCHNG] Five persons were killed in the convoy of former Borno State Governor, Sen Ali Sheriff, along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway, a security source said.
The source, who spoke anonymously to our correspondent, said suspected members of Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... attacked Sheriff’s convoy around Auno, a few kilometres to Maiduguri, the state capital.
The source disclosed that Sheriff was coming into Maiduguri from Abuja on Thursday evening to take part in the third-day post burial prayer for his father, Galadima Sheriff, who died last week.
He said Sheriff had travelled in a convoy of nine exotic vehicles.
The source added that the convoy was trailed by suspected Boko Haram forces of Evil around Auno.
The source said suspected forces of Evil engaged the escort of Sheriff on Thursday about 6:30pm and in the crossfire killed two coppers, two civilians and a soldier.
He noted that one of the nine vehicles was damaged at Auno as the convoy was rescued by a team of the Rapid Response Squad deployed in Njimtilo to enforce the COVID-19 lockdown.
The source said the suspected marauders were pushed back by the team of Rapid Response Squad.

A cell of Tajiki members of the Islamic State terrorist organization planned to execute a critic of Islam in Germany.
The German paper Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger reported in mid-April that the now-arrested Islamic State cell "planned to assassinate the Islam critic Amir Masoud Arabpour M. from Neuss. The ex-Moslem, who converted to Christianity, repeatedly questioned the teaching of the Koran in YouTube clips. M. has been a considered an enemy of the radical Islamic Salafist scene since the beginning of 2019."
The paper added that "On March 14, 2019, a member of the cell evaluated the surroundings of the targeted victim. According to the federal prosecutor, the goal was to shoot the Islam critic."
The Iranian-born Amir Masoud Arabpour lives in the city Neuss near the major city of Dusseldorf in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia,
According to the prosecutor, the Islamic State cell "planned a murder attempt on a person who, from the perspective of the accused, had made public statements that were critical of the Islam. Against this background, the targeted murder victim has already been spied on by the accused Farhodshoh K. US Air Force bases in Germany were also scouted."

(ISIS) Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s in seven months as part of the continued global coalition campaign against the holy warrior group.
In a "successful operation" on April 10, a pair of British Royal Air Force Typhoon jets struck ISIS gunnies in Tuz Khurmatu, south of Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... "removing several ISIS fighters from the battlefield and further degrading the terrorist movement."
"The pair of Typhoons, assisted by an RAF Reaper aircraft, identified ISISholy warriors occupying a group of fortified buildings in an isolated location west of Tuz Khurma[tu], known to be inhabited by active terrorist commanders and fighters," read an update published on an government page dedicated to air strikes against the group.
"The aircraft conducted a thorough check of the area for non-combatants, before using a combination of precision guided bombs to destroy the buildings," the statement read.
"The surveillance aircraft continued to scan the area, confirming that all weapons had struck their targets and there was no collateral damage," it added.
The last airstrike to be conducted by British forces was in September, when "a pair of Typhoons responded to reports that a small group of ISISmurderous Moslems had been engaged in fighting with Iraqi security forces."
Tuz Khurmatu is a disputed city claimed by both Erbil and Baghdad and is home to Arabs, Kurds, and Turkmen. Iraqi forces have taken charge of the city’s security since October 2017, when Kurdish Peshmerga forces were forced out of the region following the independence referendum.

Thing about the Forever War is that there's always room to make sure your people, equipment, and planning are up to scratch. Way back, the US offered a goodly number of nations the opportunity to get some experience. Long after NATO had shown up. El Salvador, the Stone Platoon. US Guard partners in the OMLT program. Individually, they showed pretty good. Not worth the effort to bring them there compared to the same number of our guys, or NATO's, but that wasn't the point.

This happened to a Marine buddy of mine 1965 (Dominican Republic) while I was in Viet Nam.
They got lost in a jeep and were captured by the rebels...he escaped later...
Things can get confusing in some operations and that is how these mishaps happen.
Syrian air defense systems were activated in response to an alleged Israeli airstrike targeting the Damascus area from Lebanese airspace early Monday morning, according to the Syrian state SANA news agency. The attack marks the second airstrike in Syria blamed on Israel in the past week.
A military source told SANA that the air defense systems were able to shoot down most of the missiles, but that some managed to cause material damage without any casualties.
According to the Step News Agency, the airstrikes targeted Iranian sites south of Damascus including near Al-Kiswah, Sahnaya and Set Zaynab. Material damage and casualties were reported in Al-Kiswah and Sahnaya.
One missile hit an Iranian site in Set Zaynab, but no information was available yet the extent of casualties or damage.
According to Al-Mayadeen, Israeli aircraft were flying at low altitudes over southern Lebanon during the time of the attack.
Syrian state news agency SANA said limited damage was caused by the strikes on the Mezzeh military airport outside Damascus, but no casualties. The airbase, reportedly used by Iranian forces in Syria, has been attacked several times in airstrikes attributed to Israel.
[SYRIAHR] Helicopters belonging to Ottoman Turkish army entered this evening Syrian territory, heading towards Ottoman Turkish posts in southeast Idlib, to transport injured soldiers of Ottoman Turkish troops following festivities with protesters.
On the other hand, Ottoman Turkish-backed factions and HTS are holding meetings to diffuse tension and break up the sit-in on M4 international highway.
Syrian Observatory activists have documented the killing of two members of Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham, formerly al-Nusra, before that it was called something else ...al-Qaeda's Syrian affiliate, from which sprang the Islamic State... and the injury of three others, after Ottoman Turkish drones targeted a car they were traveling in al-Nayrab town in the eastern countryside of Idlib.
This attack follows an offensive by HTS on Ottoman Turkish posts in al-Nayrab area as a respond to the killing of four protestors, including HTS members, participating in al-Karama sit-in held on the M4 highway after Ottoman Turkish forces opened fire on area.
SOHR sources have reported that Ottoman Turkish forces demolished most of the tents in the area where "Al-Karama sit-in" is held near al-Nayrab town on the M4 highway, since these tents had been set up by protesters opposing the agreement between The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... and Russia. SOHR activists have reported hearing explosions and heavy gunfire in the area.
These developments came in the wake of the escalating tension between Ottoman Turkish forces on one hand and fighters of jihadi factions led by Hayyaat Tahrir al-Sham.
SOHR sources confirmed that exchange of fire with heavy machineguns erupted between both sides, along with shells hitting Ottoman Turkish posts nearby al-Nayrab. Meanwhile, ...back at the dirigible, Jack stuck the cigar in his mouth, stepped onto the gantry, and asked Got a light, Mac?
Von Schtinken stopped short, lowering the dagger and trying to control his features.
If you light that thing, Herr Armschtröng, he pointed out, his voice tense, we all die!... Ottoman Turkish reconnaissance drones were monitored flying over the area.
On the other hand, the number of HTS fighters and the "Salvation Government" affiliates who have been killed by Ottoman Turkish gunfire since early morning rose to four.
According to SOHR sources, Ottoman Turkish forces opened fire on the area this dawn after being attacked by jihadi groups.

[SYRIAHR] an improvised bomb (IED) went kaboom! today in the town of al-Soussa in eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zour, causing material damage. No casualties have been reported.
Syrian Observatory sources have reported that an IED went kaboom! targeting a vehicle affiliated to the Internal Security Forces (Asayish), while passing on the highway in Jadeed Bakkara village in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. No casualties have been reported.
On April 25, Syrian Observatory sources confirmed the liquidation of an oil "contractor" dealing with SDF in al-Omar oil field, after unknown button men shot him in al-Sabha ...After the Libyan Civil War, Sabha grew in importance as a slave auctioning town. However, an investigation by the National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) revealed that while there was illegal slavery, reports were exaggerated, as slave auctions were rare and not made public. This was a great comfort to everyone but the slaves peddled in secret. The city was later seized by forces loyal to the Libyan National Army (LNA) and its leader Khalifa Haftar in January 2019, probably for its collection of MiG-25 aircraft.... town in eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
[SYRIAHR] The areas of Afrin, Jandiras, al-Bab, al-Ra’i and Azaz are a major centre for the prisons of Ottoman Turkish-backed factions in northern Aleppo, which belong to the judiciary and the police. Torture is limited in this type of prisons due to the Ottoman Turkish censorship, while the factions have their own temporary detention centres where they carry out all kinds of abuses, such as ransom demands, arbitrary arrests, personal purposes with civilians, particularly Kurds. Detainees in these prisons are being brutally tortured.
The prison administration in the areas held by Ottoman Turkish-backed factions, north of Aleppo, is taking precautionary measures in light of the outbreak of coronavirus (aka COVID19 or Chinese Plague) ...the twenty first century equivalent of bubonic plague, only instead of killing off a third of the population of Europe it kills 3.4 percent of those who notice they have it. It seems to be fond of the elderly, especially Iranian politicians and holy men... pandemic, where specialized medical teams supervise prisons and work to sterilize them and conduct periodic check-ups for all prisoners.
A hospital in Afrin was allocated to quarantine infected cases with coronavirus, as well as setting up quarantine tents for infected people.
In the "Peace Spring" areas, there are 22 prisons and detention centres of Ottoman Turkish-backed factions, in the areas of Ras al-Ain in rural al-Hasakeh and Tal Abyad in northern rural al-Raqqa.
These prisons hold more than 3,000 prisoners, while there are currently about 1,200 prisoners for various crimes. Murderers, thieves and those who committed heinous crimes are being placed in these prisons, while those accused of having links to SDF are being transferred directly to The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund... for higher investigations and military trials.
On April 3, the "Interim Government" granted a general amnesty for crimes committed before April 1.
The amnesty has included fully de-penalization of minor offences, and for felonies by half and fully de-penalization for 70-year-olds, and for those with an incurable disease confirmed by a medical report of the medical committee formed for this purpose, and who need permanent medical care that cannot be provided in prison.
The amnesty has exempt several cases under the military penal code and the general penal code.
On the other hand, there are four official prisons in HTS-controlled areas, in central Idlib, Harem, Salqin and Bab al-Hawa. The number of prisoners is of about 1,500, in addition to some 20 unofficial prisons in various areas of Aleppo, Idlib and Latakia provinces, the most prominent of which is an unofficial one known as "The Punishment", which is located near Kansafra before HTS transferred prisoners to another place.
There are also several female prisoners in western Aleppo countryside, and rural Ariha, Harem and Derkoush near the border, the city of Jisr al-Shughour and the Kfaraidin area near al-Ghassaniya.
Prison staff are following instructions and precautionary measures, by wearing masks, adhering to hygiene rules and sterilizing.
