#1 Salah Badi is a known divisive figure. Some see him as defending the country. Others see him as a spoiler who takes up arms when he doesn’t get his way. As part of the Libya Dawn coalition, Badi' Islamist militia fought against colonel Khalifa Haftar in Operation Dignity (OD). OD captured Tripoli and destroyed its airport during fighting.
In August 2018 Badi left Turkey asylum and returned to Tripoli. He then supported an operation launched by the Tarhuna 7th Brigade to seize control of Tripoli from a coalition of other militias he accused of corruption.
He has been listed as a terrorist in the USA. |
