[SECURE.SAHARAREPORTERS] Mistura Shogunle, a medical doctor working at the Mirabel Centre, a sexual assault referral centre, on Wednesday, narrated before an Ikeja Domestic Violence and Sexual Offences Court how a 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by seven men in her neighbourhood, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Shogunle testified at the trial of a 20-year-old fashion designer, Rasheed Fashola, for two counts of conspiracy and defilement of a child.
But Fashola had pleaded not guilty "Wudn't me." to the charges.
Led in evidence by the state counsel, Mrs Olasunbo Abiodun-Muniru, the doctor said the minor came to the centre to seek medical attention on September 28, 2020, a day after she was allegedly defiled.
"The client said that on September 27, 2020, which was a Sunday, her father sent her on an errand, and seven boys in the neighbourhood stopped her.
"They dragged her into an uncompleted building, her mouth was covered with a handkerchief and they took turns to rape her through unprotected penile intercourse into her vagina," Shogunle said.
The doctor said the survivor was calm and clinically stable during the medical examination and that she had no obvious physical injuries.
"There were, however, significant genital findings. The labia majora was normal while the labia minora (inner lips of the genital) had a bruise.
"The natural covering of the vagina, called the hymen, was absent. There were no significant anal findings.
"The general findings are in keeping with recent blunt force penetration into her vagina which could have been caused by penile vagina penetration as declared verbally by the client," she said.
The doctor, who is also a certified forensic sexual assault examiner, said the father of the defiled child informed her that he sent his daughter on an errand and expected her to return home early but instead, saw her with two men who came to his residence to tell him that his daughter had been defiled.
According to NAN, Shogunle said the minor did not tell her the names of the men who allegedly defiled her.
During cross-examination by defence counsel, Mr O.O. Ogunjimi, the witness said that she did not find any semen when she examined the survivor.
"It was not the day the incident happened that the client visited the Mirabel Centre.
"The client did not tell me whether she had taken her bath or not," Shogunle said.
The prosecution said Fashola, alongside others on the lam, committed the offence at 8. 00 p.m. on Sept. 27, 2020, in an uncompleted building at Oluwashina Junction, Itire, Lagos State, NAN reports.
"The defendant and his accomplices had unlawful sexual intercourse with the 13-year-old in the uncompleted building.
"The offences contravene Sections 137 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015," Abiodun-Muniru said.
Justice Rahman Oshodi adjourned the case until May 6 for the continuation of trial.

While we're invading the young lady's privacy, I for one would like to know whether she'd previously been properly mutilated. I mean, it ain't four witnesses, but it would tend to suggest that the crime was an unintended wielding of wiles rather than a salacious seduction with malice aforethought. Surely if such were the case the death penalty must be out of the question, for Allah is merciful! Let her live, say I. Salaam!
Gunmen suspected to be bandidos have killed 20 security operatives, including 15 soldiers, in Kebbi State, Sahara Reporters has gathered.
The soldiers from Light Tank Battalion of the Nigerian Army in Zuru were deployed to Kanya, a village in Danko-Wasagu district following the killing of 68 vigilantes otherwise known as Yan Sakai by button men fleeing from Niger State.
The Yan-Sa-Kai hail from various towns and villages of the emirate. Local residents often form informal vigilante units to protect themselves from bandit raids.
However, a clean conscience makes a soft pillow... hundreds of button men invaded the community on Tuesday evening, engaging the soldiers and coppers in a three-hour shootout, killing 20 of them.
The button men also burnt about two military operational vehicles.
"About 15 of our colleagues and 5 coppers were killed yesterday in Kanya, Kebbi State. They were all from 223 battalion in Zuru. May their souls rest In peace," a military officer told Sahara Reporters.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Tuesday condemned the killing of the vigilantes.
Expressing sadness over what he described as "the brutal murder of tens of vigilante members", Buhari in a statement by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu also extends his condolences to the family members of the dear departed.
"This egregious level of criminality is shocking and I want to assure Nigerians that I will do all it takes to tackle this monster decisively," the President was quoted as saying.
"My greatest preoccupation is the threat to life posed by these murderous gangs and remorseless outlaws who have no slightest regard for the sanctity of life.
"While extending my sympathy to the families of the victims of this savagery, let me use this opportunity to also call on our security forces to be more proactive and redouble their efforts in order to frustrate the operational plans of the bully boyz before they even launch attacks."
[Dawn] Seven bad boyz were potted during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Turbat's Gorchop area in Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... , the military's media affairs wing said on Tuesday.
In a statement, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that security forces conducted an operation to apprehend "externally sponsored enemies of peace in Balochistan" after receiving information about a terrorists' hideout in "general area Gorchop".
"Once the troops started [the] clearance operation in the area, bully boyz tried to escape from their camp and opened indiscriminate fire onto security forces," the statement said.
The ISPR said that seven terrorists, including commanders Hasil Doda and Washdil, were killed during the exchange of fire. "These bully boyz were involved in recent firing and attacks on security forces in Makran Division," the military said.
In addition, a significant cache of arms and ammunition was recovered which was "intended to be used in terrorist activities".
"Operations to eliminate such perpetrators of terrorist acts in Pakistain will continue and they will not be allowed to sabotage peace, stability and progress of Balochistan," the ISPR statement concluded.
On February 26, security forces killed a terrorist during an IBO in the Spinwam area of North Wazoo. According to the ISPR, the miscreant was involved in terrorist activities against security forces.

An #ISIS suicide bomber who killed 64 people at a Shia mosque in northwest #Pakistan was an Afghan exile who returned home to train for the attack, police say.https://t.co/XWfLmnaRg5
The Taliban have pledged they will not allow Afghan soil to be used to plot attacks on other nations, but last month the UN Security Council said “terrorist groups enjoy greater freedom there than at any time in recent history.”
Two senior Pakistan police officials told AFP that the suicide bomber responsible for Friday’s Peshawar blast had prepared the attack in Afghanistan.
That’d be the one in the Koocha Risaldar area, where the Shia of Peshawar congregate, where there were almost 250 casualties.
It was claimed by ISIS, whose Islamic State-Khorasan affiliate has been active for years in both Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The officials said the attacker was an Afghan national in his 30s who moved to Pakistan with his family decades ago.
“The bomber went to Afghanistan, trained there and returned without informing his family,” one of the senior police officials told AFP. "I'm baaaack!" *BOOM*
“Islamic State-Khorasan is becoming a strong threat for us, they are operating from Afghanistan but they have sleeping cells here,” he added.
Taliban officials did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Police said they had killed three “facilitators” of the attack in an overnight operation, and arrested 20 others suspected of involvement.
ISIS also claimed responsibility for what it said was a suicide blast on Tuesday that killed seven paramilitary troops near a site in southwestern Pakistan where the president had visited less than half an hour earlier.

Well-armed by a policeman of Babel,
Though sadly those fellas
Were terrible spellers
Who never once won playing Scrabble.

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front) arrested several people who work in illegal human smuggling, for not paying a royalty, which it identified as insurance fees.
HTS authorizes the processes of illegal human smuggling from its areas of control in Idlib into Turkish territory in return for paying $50 each person as insurance to prevent smugglers from exploiting the people.
In late 2015, HTS established the Border Security Office to organize trafficking operations into Turkey along the Syrian-Turkish border and obligated smugglers to pay sums of money to allow them to pass.
Members of the HTS’ security apparatus raided, last night, houses of a number of human traffickers in Atmeh town and Qah village north of Idlib, exclusive sources told North Press.
The security apparatus arrested more than seven people for smuggling a group of people without paying $50 as a fee for each person, the sources added.
Residents who try to cross the Syria-Turkey border in search of a better life face many dangers and sometimes they get killed by the Turkish gendarmeries.
