(2005-02-15) -- Faced with President Bush's renomination of 12 previously-blocked judicial nominees and a potential Republican rewrite of Senate rules to prohibit filibusters of judicial nominees, Democrats today warned the White House they would invoke the Senate "tantrum rule" to stymie the president's efforts.
The tantrum rule allows for vocal and physical expressions of displeasure, including, but not limited to, "whining, screaming, holding one's breath, fist pounding and flopping about on the carpet."
When a member of the minority party invokes the tantrum provision, the president of the Senate may either ignore the Senator on the floor, use the gavel to compel silence or order the sergeant-at-arms to drag the Senator by the wrist out of the chamber.
"We know it won't work," said Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, "But it's all part of keeping our progressive vision for America before the voters."

Can we give them a Time Out. Say, about 2 years?

All problems are rooted in "the crisis of self-belief," says Cold Warrior supremo, Robert Conquest.

No way! I think we are too generous with attributing charismatic authority to undeserving swine, and we are being led to a tolerance trap. I offer mean-spirited government, conducted in an atmosphere of general nastyness. SAY DOOM!

I was going to write a long erudite exposition on the tradegy of the commons as it relates to RB, but then I thought IToldYouSo is just a fuckwit and why bother.

I, for one, welcome the speeches offered by our Donk adversaries. They've done so well for them in the past. Maybe Kennedy can use more "drowned" or "treading dangerous waters" analogies

Sarge! You got it...
The distance between ScrappleFace and the News grows ever narrower...
Of course producing flatulance will prove once and for all that their stuff does stink. Another facade will have come down.
What have I done wrong? That was the question Dr Mahathir Mohamad asked of his critics who still continue to smear his name. Yes, what wrong has the His constituency was Thomas Friedman of the NYT, and fellow Moonhowlers. I wish them a long and painful death.
Only his critics and those who are not happy with Mahathir can offer the most accurate answer. We know that if that question is posed to the fanatical supporters of Anwar Ibrahim, they will quickly answer that it is because Mahathir sacked and shamed the former deputy prime minister. Gee, framing your political opponents with false gay accusations, could be considered unfair. Especially when they are jailed before their show trial.
If members of PAS Malay Islamofascists, some of whom ran the last election on the slogan, "Vote PAS and go to heaven." are asked, they will firmly reply that it is because the fourth prime minister is anti-Islam. As for Western leaders, especially the Americans and foreign currency speculator George Soros, Soros hates everything they hate Mahathir due to him being brave enough to speak out against the degradation of their culture and system. Some of us love to wallow in decadence.
Such are the answers which each faction has, depending on their respective priorities and appetites. Even if the majority of Malaysians support Mahathir, the picture which the mass media, especially the foreign publications, tries to paint is that Mahathir is not popular with his own people. Who cares if Malay Muslimutts love Doctor Evil? Before the Brits cut loose the palm oil pig pen, Hindus and Chinese formed the national majority. Although the unproductive slaves-of-allah-the-moongod bred themselves into majority status, the Hindus and Chinese still run the economy.
SAY DOOM!

The only consolation is the guy is, what, 80? Can't live forever. Maybe then he & his nutbag supporters will finally shut up.
