[AlAhram] US F-22 fighter jets arrived in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday, part of an American defense response to recent missile attacks by Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of... 's Iran's Houthi sock puppets ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The legitimate Yemeni government has accused the them of having ties to the Iranian government. Honest they did. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews They like shooting off... ummm... missiles that they would have us believe they make at home in their basements. On the plus side, they did murder Ali Abdullah Saleh, which was the only way the country was ever going to be rid of him... rebels targeting the country.
The Raptors landed at al-Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi, which hosts some 2,000 U.S. troops. American soldiers there launched Patriot interceptor missiles in response to the Houthi attacks last month, the first time U.S. troops have fired the system in combat since the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
American officials declined to say how many F-22s deployed or the number of airmen supporting the aircraft, citing operational security. However, women are made to be loved, not understood... they identified the unit involved as the 1st Fighter Wing, located at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia. A photo later released by the Air Force showed six F-22s in a line on a taxiway at al-Dhafra.
"The Raptors' presence will bolster already strong partner nation defenses and puts destabilizing forces on notice that the U.S. and our partners are committed to enabling peace and stability in the region,`` Lt. Gen. Greg Guillot, the commander of the U.S. Air Force's Mideast command, said in a statement.
The deployment comes after the Iranian-backed Houthis launched three attacks targeting Abu Dhabi last month, including one targeting a fuel depot that killed three people and maimed six. The attacks coincided with visits by presidents from South Korea and Israel to the country.
A shadowy Iraqi group claimed launching a drone attack targeting the Emirates in early February, though authorities say they intercepted them.
Though overshadowed by the Ukraine crisis, the missile fire targeting the Emirates has sparked a major U.S. response. The American military has sent the USS Cole on a mission to Abu Dhabi.
The spillover of Yemen's yearslong war into the UAE puts American troops in the crosshairs of the Houthi attacks, and raises the risk of a regional escalation at a crucial moment of talks in Vienna to potentially restore Iran's nuclear deal with world powers.

Perhaps some practice runs over Iran? I'd expect the sphincter tension level may have gone up at IRGC HQ. Wouldn't wanna fly civilian air into Tehran or Qom.

Hope so; sounds better than patrolling for Israeli aircraft.
England’s World Cup hotel was built by a Qatari government agency accused of funding Al-Qaeda terrorists in Syria (Al Nusra Front)
Tivoli Souq Al-Wakra hotel was bankrolled by Qatar’s Private Engineering Office
PEO was named in the High Court as alleged source of jihadist money laundering
It was claimed conspiracy was driven ‘by members of the Qatari ruling elite’
Gareth Southgate wants to base his squad at the five-star beach resort this year
FA sources have pointed out that they are limited to hotels sourced by FIFA, who produce a list of bases for the 32 tournament qualifiers to pick from. The Souq Al-Wakra hotel was built in 2015 specifically for the World Cup.
A High Court lawsuit launched last June accused the PEO of funnelling money to Al-Qaeda through artificially inflated construction contracts in Syria in a conspiracy masterminded by the Qatari government and the Muslim Brotherhood, the Sunni Islamist organisation.
The conspiracy was driven ‘by high-ranking members of the Qatari ruling elite’ and provided funds to ‘actively support and facilitate’ Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists including the jihadist Nusra Front in the Syrian civil war, the High Court claim alleges. The PEO was central to the operation according to the High Court claim, receiving orders direct from Qatar’s emir, Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The Qatari government and all the defendants, who include former Prime Minister Hamad bin Jassim al-Thani, have categorically denied the allegations, with Al-Thani’s representatives branding them baseless. Neither the FA or FIFA would comment on an ongoing court case.
The High Court claims against companies involved in the World Cup construction projects will lead to even more scrutiny of FIFA’s decision to award the tournament to Qatar.

[IsraelTimes] The Mossad spy agency has helped foil 12 plots to carry out terror attacks on Israelis in The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... over the past two years, Channel 12 news reports.
The network, which does not cite a source, credits the Mossad’s ties with Turkey’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT), which it says have strengthened in recent years despite the strained diplomatic relations between the countries.
Most of the reported attack plots were linked to the Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... jihadist group and targeted businessmen and other Israelis in Turkey.
The report comes a day after Ottoman Turkish media and a Ottoman Turkish-based Israeli businessman announced the uncovering of an Iranian plot to assassinate him. It also follows recent reports in Turkey of the indictment of 16 alleged Mossad spies.

Mossad actually foils plots rather than just opening a known wolf file and accumulating paper? Does the FBI know you can do this?
