#6  We've been out of masks long enough for hand shakes to come back, and a masked person is just not feeling well, that's all.

I can't think of the last time someone said so-and-so got the Covid.

Lot of "off Broadway" towns became shopping vacations because mask, no mask, no matter, no Karens.

Trump's Official Smithsonian Portrait - not bad!
[PJ Media] I’m not at all surprised that the official commissioned portrait of Donald Trump that will hang in the Smithsonian is dignified and full of American symbolism, but I am flabbergasted that the Washington Post said nice things about it. Maybe they just remember how hard it was to say something positive about Barack Obama’s portrait, where he has a sixth finger and is sitting in some shrubbery. Remember that?
The Six Fingered Man compared to the Trumper at the title link. The Smithsonian portrait is not based on the pic at the right.
Smithsonian Portrait

The Washington Post positively gushed over Trump’s pick for the official portrait.

His portrait of Trump has both artistic and historic merit, Ureña said. "I like the composition of the photograph," she said of Dukovic’s image. "It is an angle we don’t often see. You get a little bit of the other side and what’s behind the desk."

The photograph’s historical details include flags along the wall representing the five branches of the armed forces, a portrait of Andrew Jackson and one of Benjamin Franklin by Joseph Duplessis that the museum loaned to the White House. These reflect Trump’s interests and influences, Ureña said. The photograph was taken the day before Trump officially announced he would seek reelection, adding to its historical value, Ureña said.

"We want to not only depict the individual," she said, "but also bring as much history as much context as possible."

Someone should check on the staff writers to see if they’re okay and not under duress of any kind. We are just not used to this. Further down, in the "context" area, we get to the insult—but it’s not until the very end and I think it still reads rather well, listing off Trump’s major achievements without referencing any fake news hoaxes like drinking bleach or "fine people" lies.

That context is found in the wall text, the brief biography that sums up each president's tenure. Trump's achievements include record low unemployment, restrictions on immigration and the appointment of "a record number of federal judges, including three Supreme Court Justices," the summation says. It also notes that he was twice impeached and twice acquitted, and ends with this: "The beginning of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), which resulted in a devastating loss of human lives and an economic crisis, became a key issue during his reelection campaign. More Americans voted in the 2020 presidential election than ever before, and the majority elected Joseph R. Biden Jr. Nevertheless, Trump did not concede, and a mob of his supporters, who refused to accept the results, attacked the U.S. Capitol complex on January 6, 2021, when Congress was working to certify Biden's win."
His supporters, with anarchists leading the way.
They managed to insult his supporters there at the end with the "mob" talk but other than that, it's quite positive. The museum values even-handedness and it shows. I can't be the only one who appreciates their tone of fairness.

I half expected that the Smithsonian would pretend like President Trump didn't exist and refuse to hang his portrait, but I'm thrilled to see that sane people still seem to be in charge there. I wonder how long until whoever created this exhibit is targeted for cancellation.

Why The U.S. Government Stopped Funding A Research Project On Bats And Coronaviruses
[NPR] The U.S. government has suddenly terminated funding for a years-long research project in China that many experts say is vital to preventing the next major coronavirus outbreak.

The project was run by a U.S. nonprofit called EcoHealth Alliance. For more than a decade, the group has been sending teams to China to trap bats, collect samples of their blood, saliva and feces, and then check those samples for new coronaviruses that could spark the next global pandemic. The idea is to identify locations that need to be monitored, come up with strategies to prevent spillover of the virus into human populations and get a jump on creating vaccines and treatments. Already the project has identified hundreds of coronaviruses, including one very similar to the virus behind the current outbreak.

Same research topic and other articles of potential interest.

#1  Evidently someone in the US Gov't recently began to listen. Perhaps 'grant funding' our very own demise is no longer a conspiracy theory.

Is it time to clean up our Justice System?
An original contribution by NN2N1.
What If & How To Fix It Department.

I believe most of us would agree we have way too much POLITICS in our Justice system now. So should there be an overhaul to take the Politics OUT of it?

So what would you recommend to remove or reduce the amount Politics in our Justice System, IF it could be cleaned up?

How could We the People" make sure the proper checks and balances where there to keep the Justice system answerable to the Citizens and not $$$$ Donors and Politicians again?

What if the SCOTUS had a say (vote) on who is appointed to the DOJ Director position and the authority to review Federal Judge appointments to ensure they understand and will adhere to the US Constitution and Bill of Rights as written?

What if the SCOTUS had the unsolicited authority to recommend Federal Judges (eg..9th dist) not following the US Constitution or writing laws from the bench be removed.

What If the DOJ was required to apply a Consistent and Equal application of US Constitution Law, or be sued or criminally charged for Civil Rights and/or Abuse of Power Violations?

Plus, should the SCOTUS Justices have a mandatory Retirement age and a annual independent mental health checkup requirement? To avoid another Justice Ruth Ginsburg type scenario. Where her staff were rumored to have been filing her legal decisions for her as she was dying for 9+ months in and out the hospital?

What if just like US Laws that prohibit DUI to protect the public, shouldn't our Civil Rights have the same protection? So shouldn't Federal Judges and even SCOTUS Justices using medications that would impair Mental judgement/conscience not be allowed to vote?

Should we have a separate Death Penalty Appeal Court system setup to reduce the now 15 to 25 years of built-in stalls and delays?
A good start would be to remove union job protections for the entire federal bureaucracy, such that everyone on the payroll was working at-will and could be fired without cause by the president or his appointed secretaries and department heads. But that would require a law passed by Congress, so thqt will await a Republican sweep of the other two branches of government.

#1  Frankly, I don't see any system at all. We had one, but this capricious, 'the process is the punishment' tumor sure isn't it and neither is it functioning.
Posted by: Cesare || 04/28/2021 10:40 Comments || Top||

#2  Too far gone for that. You learn that every branch, to include the bureaucracy, must be accountable in order to maintain a republic. When you have one branch sit for life and be 'de facto' unaccountable you end up at best as an oligarchy. Humans build empires, petty or grand. When the judiciary made itself the run around to Article V and the other two branches preferred to allow it so as to avoid making hard and divisive stands, the end was sealed.

The Junta's Abolition Of The Constitution
In which Sarah Hoyt gets really dark. A taste.
[AccordingToHoyt] I linked this at instapundit some time ago. But from the fact that a friend sent me this link today, I presume it’s not widely known. The link I put at instapundit was from American Thinker. And for once their title was the most accurate thing ever: Executive Order Canceling the Constitution.

If you’re wondering how that is possible, wonder no more. You know how our government freezes assets of enemy governments? Like Iran’s assets that the FICUS is dying to unfreeze ASAP?

Well, the veneer-thin coat of legality on this bullshit relates to that. At the same time that Dementia Joe and The Commie Ho are giving money and actual nuclear tech to declared enemies of the US, they are declaring US citizens who so much as dare talk against them as enemy collaborators and traitors. And because they’re owned by China (though anyone who thinks that stopping fracking and the keystone pipeline is not a big sloppy kiss to Putin needs their heads examined. It’s in fact the kiss of life, since the only thing Russians have worth anything is oil and they were in deep trouble before China stooges stole our elections) they are of course doing it by screaming Russia, Russia Russia!

Contrary to its title, this EO is not about Russia. It is designed to allow the Biden administration to deprive American citizens and organizations of their rights and property by arbitrarily linking those persons to real, imagined, or vaguely defined activities of the Russian government.

The Biden administration unilaterally makes the determination and requires neither criminal acts nor intent. The punishment is blocking assets and a prohibition on any dealing with the accused person. Spouses and adult children of individuals found guilty by accusation under this EO are punished, too.

The EO was preceded by some distracting maneuvers, both diplomatic (hostile rhetoric toward Russia) and military (sending naval ships toward the Black Sea and recalling them back, as if dealing with Russian threats). Thus, many people assumed that the EO was directed at Russia, and completely missed the fact that it is directed at dissent here, at home.

Over the past four years, the Democrat Party, Fake News, and Big Tech have been frequently portraying their opponents as Russian trolls or Russian misinformation operators. The Russian collusion narrative, initially invented to overthrow the Trump administration, has been used to smear many conservative movements. Now this effort has been crowned by an Executive Order.

All they have to do is make a list of those they consider to be Russian agents. The executive order itself says you can’t dispute your inclusion in this list.

(c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

Oh, yeah, all your property will be impounded, and everyone is forbidden from doing business with you. On the say-so of corrupt agencies and people who have been lying to us for years.

And there’s nothing you can do, and anyone who helps you faces a similar fate.

This is completely fair, because on the FICUS say-so, you become an enemy of the state, and a Russian agent. Totes. Even if there’s no rational reason beyond "Russia " (And more so China) have an interest in dissension in the US. But if this is the case, the Junta should immediately consider itself Russian agents. (They’re already China’s.)

This was signed on the 15th of April. Do you think there aren’t already things going on to make this work? Do you think that we’re not all already on that list?
