[WSMV] Nashville's Community Oversight Board says they will conduct their own investigation into Saturday morning's deadly officer-involved shooting to determine if Metro Police policy and procedures were followed.
Metro Police Officer Christopher Royer is currently on administrative assignment after he shot and killed a knife-wielding man on Clarksville Pike Saturday morning.
MNPD's Don Aaron said the shooting happened after Officer Royer pulled over a white Mercedes after running a license plate check and discovering the plate was registered to a 1998 green Chevrolet.
Aaron said the driver of the Mercedes presented no issues, but "the passenger however, immediately got out of the Mercedes with two large butcher knives, one in each hand, and began running around erratically."
At one point the man is seen on Royer's body camera footage attempting to enter the MNPD squad car.
Officer Royer yells repeatedly to the man to drop the knives. The man is seen in the body camera footage turning toward Royer and charging him before the officer fires three shots.
The Community Oversight Board says they were given a briefing of the shooting on the scene early Saturday morning and reviewed the body camera footage at Metro Police headquarters.
Chief John Drake and MNPD-COB Liaison Captain Carlos Lara provided updates to COB Sherlocks.
Chief Drake said during a presser he believed Officer Royer "did everything he could" and "was left with no choice" but to fire his weapon.

Previously Hamdullah Mohib, National Security Advisor, referring to the reported demand of the Taliban to release more of the group’s detainees said the Taliban should ensure the Afghan government that they are not demanding the release of narcos.

First Vice President Amrullah Saleh, also had said that the Islamic Theocratic Republic of Afghanistan does not have any plans to release additional Taliban prisoners.

The missing included two Spanish citizens and an Irish national, along with a member of the Burkinabe armed forces. The three Europeans were reportedly working for a NGO dedicated to protecting the environment.
The attack occurred during the daytime in the Fada N'Gourma-Pama area in eastern Burkina Faso. In addition to the NGO workers, the patrol group also consisted of soldiers, forest rangers and foreign journalists.
No group has yet claimed responsiblity for the kidnapping. Authorities are conducting a search for the missing people.
The Spanish Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on the kidnapping, but the Irish Foreign Ministry said it "was aware of the reports and is liasing closely with international partners regarding the situation on the ground."

Nine people were executed on Monday over their involvement in an attack on Giza’s Kerdasa cop shoppe in August 2013 that killed several coppers, sources said.
The execution was carried out at Wadi al-Natrun prison in the early hours of Monday.

[SHAFAQ] The Military Intelligence Directorate announced on Monday arresting an ISIS terrorist trying to enter the capital, Baghdad, and the security forces and al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Forces-PMF) cleared six villages in Nineveh Governorate.
The Military Intelligence service said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, "The detachments of the Intelligence in the 11th Division, the Intelligence of the Third Infantry Brigade 44, and a joint force, in coordination with the Intelligence Department of Baghdad Operations Command, arrested a terrorist in al-Shaab checkpoint, Baghdad, trying to enter the capital from al-Miqdadiya, Diyala Governorate."
According to the statement, the arrestee is wanted by the Judiciary in accordance with the provisions of Article 4/Terrorism.
For its part, the PMF Media office announced in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that a joint force from the 33rd Brigade, the Nineveh Operations Command, and the Iraqi army units, launched this morning an operation to clear the villages of the southwest of djinn-infested Mosul ... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn... [SHAFAQ] Seven officers of the Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) sustained varying injuries in a security operation in Abi Saida sub-district, Northeast of Diyala.
A source told Shafaq News Agency that the seven officers were hit by rifle bullets fired from a distance by an ISIS sniper during a combing operation in Shekhi village in abi Saida, 30 kilometers to the northeast of Baquba.
The security operations, according to the source, was launched this morning per year the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Minister of Interior in the aftermath of the double attack that took place in al-Abbara sub-district, 15 kilometers to the northeast of Baquba, which resulted in 11 victims, injured and dead, among civilians and security forces.
An official of QRF succumbed to the wounds he sustained in an IED blast in al-Waqf strip between the sub-districts of Abi Saida and al-Abbara, 25 kilometers to the northeast of Baquba.
The source told Shafaq News Agency that the earth-shattering kaboom resulted in two victims of the QRF, including a first lieutenant in the Intelligence of the second brigade's first regiment.
The source added, "four fighters of the QRF sustained critical injuries, and they are receiving medical care."
The Security Media Cell said in a blurb that QRF squads in Diyala launched a swooping operation in abi Saida sub-district, where they destroyed seven hideouts and detonated five double bombs.
The cell's statement said that Explosive Ordnance Disposal squads detonated nine dens for explosives manufacturing and two others for storage.
[SHAFAQ] Violent festivities erupted, on Monday, between the Ottoman Turkish army and the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Duhok governorate, Kurdistan.
The festivities that took place in the Baruch Mountain and Kamerki areas, south of Kani Masi district, north of Dohuk governorate led to power cut supply in the villages of the District.
Kurdish border villages and mountains have been a target for Ottoman Turkish air and artillery strikes pursuing that it target fighters opposing them, and these operations resulted in casualties and material damage.

It’s been going on for a long time, Abu Uluque. The nationalistic independence effort in the territory of the Pattani Sultanate dates back to World War II or something like that, but the jihad really took off in 2001. Ryuge covered it for us for years, then after he left I covered the beat.
