[DW] A Taliban ...the Pashtun equivalent of men... ministry has asked TV networks to stop broadcasting programs that the ultra-conservative group deems immoral. They have said that the directives are not obligatory, but rather "a religious guideline."

The ultra-conservative Taliban authorities issued a series of "religious guidelines" on Sunday which, among other things, called on Afghanistan's television networks to not broadcast soap operas or dramas featuring women actors.
The directive came from the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice and was the first of its kind issued to the country's media networks.
The new guidelines came despite pledges from the Taliban that they would be more moderate in their exercising of power this time around.
WHAT DO THE GUIDELINES CONSIST OF?
The ministry said that films or shows that were against Islamic or Afghan values should be banned.
This includes any media that depicts the Prophet Muhammad or other revered figures.
The guidelines also set out that women journalists appearing on television should wear hijabs.
The depiction of male bodies, including unclothed torsos, was also deemed inappropriate by the ministry.
''These are not rules but a religious guideline," ministry front man Hakif Mohajir told news agency AFP.
Another Taliban spokesperson confirmed to Spanish news agency EFE that the guidelines were not obligatory, but rather suggestions to be kept in mind during transmissions.
TALIBAN'S RELATION TO MEDIA
The Taliban returned to power in August, twenty years after the US-led forces kicked them out.
Their previous stint in power saw them ban TV and movies as well as most other forms of media.
The one permitted media source was the Voice of Sharia radio channel that broadcasted Islamist propaganda.
During the subsequent two decades of relative press freedom, several homegrown TV networks were set up showing a range of shows including televised singing competitions and imported soap operas from The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire... and India.

in which he confessed to robbery and working with Saudi intelligence services.
Iran accuses him of having led a "terrorist group called ASMLA," the judiciary’s Mizan Online agency says, referring to an Arab separatist group.

Chaab is also accused of "planning and carrying out a number of terrorist acts, including kabooms in Khuzestan province, and of destroying public property," Mizan Online says.

[IsraelTimes] Ten members of Iran’s military have gone on trial in connection with the downing of a Ukrainian passenger jet in 2020, the judiciary says.
On January 8, 2020, Ukraine International Airlines flight PS752 crashed shortly after take-off from Iran’s capital Tehran, killing all 176 people aboard, most of them Iranians and Canadians, including dual nationals. The Islamic Theocratic Republic admitted three days later that its forces mistakenly shot down the Kyiv-bound Boeing 737-800 plane, after firing two missiles.
A report by the Iranian Civil Aviation Organisation released in March blamed the shooting of the jet on "human error."
The trial is being held at a military tribunal in Tehran province, according to the judiciary’s Mizan Online agency.
"Ten defendants of different [military] ranks were present in court," it says.
According to Mizan Online, 103 people filed a complaint to the judiciary demanding "an impartial investigation" to identify who was responsible for the downing of the plane and bring them to court. The agency, citing a prosecution representative, adds that the plaintiffs also demanded "that factors that hindered the search for the truth be known."
Tensions between Iran ...The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both... and the US were soaring at the time of the incident. Iranian air defenses were on high alert for a US counter-attack after Tehran fired missiles at a military base in Iraq that was used by US forces. Those missiles were fired in response to the killing of General Qassem Soleimani , who headed the foreign operations arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, in a US dronezap near Baghdad’s international airport.
[IsraelTimes] Rear-Admiral Alireza Tangsiri claims each of the blows inflicted by Iranian forces over past 18 months was to avenge death of a ’martyr’
A senior Iranian naval commander claimed Saturday that his forces had dealt nine blows to the United States to avenge the deaths of its troops.
According to Iranian media, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri,
...who is in the habit of talking tough...
said that the IRGC has suffered nine fatalities in festivities with the US in the Persian Gulf, and responded each time by hitting back. He did not clarify when those nine deaths occurred.
"We have given them nine unforgettable slaps, that is one for each of our deaders," Tangsiri said, adding that many of the incidents have not been reported by the media, according to a report by the Mehr News Agency ...And if you can't believe Mehr News Agency who can you believe?... Six of the incidents were in the last year and a half, he said. It was not reported when the other three incidents that he mentioned had allegedly occurred.
His claims were therefore impossible to verify.
"They have come to realize the Islamic Theocratic Republic’s superiority at sea," Tangsiri said in an address to members of the Basij paramilitary force during a gathering held at the former US embassy compound in Tehran.
He said one of the festivities was the recent confrontation over an oil tanker which Iran ...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites.... claimed the US had tried to seize, but that the IRGC successfully fended off the attacking forces.
While the Guards claimed that they had thwarted an attempt by the US ship to seize the MV Sothys carrying Iranian oil, US defense officials rejected that account and said that Iran seized the tanker and took it into its territorial waters.
Tangsiri’s remarks came the same day that United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin vowed to counter Iran’s "dangerous use" of suicide drones in the Mideast and vowed to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
