Mnangagwa Throws Mutsvangwa Under the Bus
When somebody nicknamed "Crocodile" throws you under the bus, expect real blood on a real bumper.
[All Africa] PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa, Friday literally threw his special advisor Christopher Mutsvangwa under the bus telling the aggrieved Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) chairman "no one is bigger than the party."

Mnangagwa was addressing Zanu PF delegates to the launch of the ruling party's manifesto in Harare declaring "the days of electoral chicanery are over."

"The days of imposition and chicanery are dead and buried never again to be resurrected no matter a person's standing," said Mnangagwa.

Mutsvangwa threw a tantrum in the aftermath of his humiliating loss to a political upstart Langton Mutendereki in the Norton primary elections, adding they were rigged and if allowed to stand could result in Mnangagwa losing the presidential elections later this year.

Mnangagwa added: "We do everything for the people. The voice of the people is the voice of God."

Mutsvangwa has lashed out at party political commissar Engelbert Rugeje accusing him of engineering his loss.

The Zanu PF leader, facing his first election as head of the former liberation movement, called for unity as complaints pile after the primaries.

"Each member must popularize the party. If you try to force Zanu PF into your pocket you will burn until you pull it out.

"We will attend to every issue raised; that is why we are not announcing the names of candidates today. We will go through the challenges in the politburo tomorrow (Saturday)," he said. "We need to guard against those with ulterior motives to undermine the party's democratic systems."

Zanu-PF Thunders - Launches Business-Friendly Election Manifesto
[All Africa] President Mnangagwa yesterday launched a business-friendly zanu-pf 2018 election manifesto which seeks to promote investment and business growth in line with his vision to transform Zim-bob-we into a middle income country by 2030.

Addressing over 3 500 ruling party delegates in Harare yesterday, President Mnangagwa said zanu-pf's focus was more on the economy than politics.

The theme of the manifesto is, "Unite, Fight Corruption, Develop, Re-engage and Create Jobs".

"To this end, the focus of our party, as I outlined at the extraordinary session of the national people's congress in December 2017, is no longer politics, politics, politics; but politics and economics," he said.

"The days of politics without action are dead and gone. We must now more than ever before be determined to rebuild our country through resuscitating and modernising all sectors of our economy," said President Mnangagwa.

In the manifesto, the revolutionary party pledges to transform Zim-bob-we into a middle income economy by 2030.

Swaziland: Sick Turned Away as Govt Bills Unpaid
[All Africa] The Swaziland Government has not paid medical bills running into millions of dollars in neighbouring South Africa and as a result sick Swazis are being denied treatment.

South African health institutions stopped giving medical assistance under the Phalala Fund on 19 March 2018, according to a report in the Swazi Observer newspaper on Friday (4 May 2018). More than 100 people have been denied treatment, the newspaper reported.

The objective of the Phalala Fund is to assist deserving Swazi citizens who would otherwise not have access to specialist medical care to get it either, within Swaziland or 'in special circumstances' outside the kingdom.

Somntongo Member of Parliament Sandile Nxumalo the chair of the parliament select committee set up in 2017 to investigate the administration of the Phalala Fund said people would die if government did not attend to the situation as a matter of urgency.

The suspension of services is nothing new. The Phalala Fund has been riddled with corruption and inefficiencies for years.

In October 2017, the Times of Swaziland reported at least three people had died because they could not get treatment after services were suspended because bills had not been paid.

At the time the Swazi Government owed E170 million (US$12 million).

Britain
Unnamed sources: Trump team hired 'bloody outrageous' Jew spy firm for ‘dirty ops' on Iran arms deal
[Guardian] Aides to Donald Trump, the US president, hired an Israeli private intelligence agency to orchestrate a "dirty ops" campaign against key individuals from the Obama administration who helped negotiate the Iran nuclear deal, the Observer can reveal.

People in the Trump camp contacted private investigators in May last year to "get dirt" on Ben Rhodes, who had been one of Barack Obama’s top national security advisers, and Colin Kahl, deputy assistant to Obama, as part of an elaborate attempt to discredit the deal.

The extraordinary revelations come days before Trump’s 12 May deadline to either scrap or continue to abide by the international deal limiting Iran’s nuclear programme.

Jack Straw, who as foreign secretary was involved in earlier efforts to restrict Iranian weapons, said: "These are extraordinary and appalling allegations but which also illustrate a high level of desperation by Trump and [the Israeli prime minister] Benjamin Netanyahu, not so much to discredit the deal but to undermine those around it."

One former high-ranking British diplomat with wide experience of negotiating international peace agreements, requesting anonymity, said: "It’s bloody outrageous to do this. The whole point of negotiations is to not play dirty tricks like this."

Sources said that officials linked to Trump’s team contacted investigators days after Trump visited Tel Aviv a year ago, his first foreign tour as US president. Trump promised Netanyahu that Iran would never have nuclear weapons and suggested that the Iranians thought they could "do what they want" since negotiating the nuclear deal in 2015. A source with details of the "dirty tricks campaign" said: "The idea was that people acting for Trump would discredit those who were pivotal in selling the deal, making it easier to pull out of it."

#7  If true, possibly President Trump’s team believes the FBI cannot at this point be trusted to honestly research one of President Obama’s people. Or possibly they want to check FBI results against those of an outside team.

Everyone knows how clever those Israelis are, after all, and billionaires are accustomed to getting the best. But regardless, the innocent have nothing to worry about from such an investigation, and surely that nice young Ben Rhodes is completely innocent.

The Grand Turk
Armenian Genocide: Turkey Cracks Down....again.
[Gatestone] The annual Armenian Genocide commemorative event that the Istanbul branch of Turkey's Human Rights Association (IHD) and the European Grassroots Antiracist Movement (EGAM) planned to hold on April 24 -- which they have been holding every year since 2005 -- was blocked by police, who seized the placards and banners about the genocide and carried out criminal record checks on participants. Three human rights activists were detained and then released.

In an exclusive interview with Gatestone, Ayse Gunaysu, an activist with the IHD's Commission Against Racism and Discrimination, said that "on their way to police station, the detainees were made to listen to racist songs containing hostile words concerning Armenians."

The annual event commemorates the April 24, 1915 round-up, imprisonment and eventual slaughter of more than 200 Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Istanbul by Ottoman authorities -- and the unfolding of the Armenian Genocide. The victims were brought to a prison, now a building that houses the Museum of Turkish Islamic Art (Turk Islam Eserleri Muzesi). The Armenians were then taken to the Haydarpasa railway station, where they were transported to Anatolia for their ultimate extermination. According to Gunaysu:

India-Pakistan
Charge sheet filed against holy man in rape and extortion case
[DAWN] KARACHI: Police submitted on Friday a charge sheet before the administrative judge of antiterrorism courts against a seminary teacher in a rape and extortion case.

The 60-year-old suspect was incarcerated
Don't shoot, coppers! I'm comin' out!
on April 4 for allegedly subjecting his teenage student to sexual assault and filming the offence at his seminary in Korangi a few years ago and later blackmailing the girl’s parents for money after she got married.

The investigating officer in the charge sheet said that the suspect raped the complainant’s daughter at the seminary in Bengali Camp in Korangi a few years ago and later the victim got married and also has a baby. Thereafter, the suspect blackmailed the father of the victim with videos of her in order to extort money, it added.

The investigation report further said that three other victims of criminal assault from the same locality also turned up during the investigation and recorded their statements under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code against the suspect before a judicial magistrate.

The IO placed around 10 prosecution witnesses in the investigation report.

After admitting the charge sheet, the administrative judge of ATCs, Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
, sent the case to ATC-I for trial.

Teachers, scholars protest renaming of QAU physics dept
[DAWN] Former and current teachers at the Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) on Friday staged a protest against the National Assembly’s resolution for changing the name of the physics department at the university.

Noted scholars, including Pervez Hoodbhoy, A.H. Nayyar, Sarwar Bari and Dr Sajid Awan, protested against the resolution which was passed on Friday calling for naming the physics department after Moslem scientist Abu al-Fath Abd-Al Rahman Mansour-al-Khazini.

The resolution, which was presented by MNA retired Capt Mohammad Safdar, calls for changing the name of the physics department and not of the Dr Abdus Salam Physics Centre, which are two separate entities.

Mr Safdar has been demanding over the last year for removing the name of Dr Abdus Salam from the centre, which has led to confusion among people who think Friday’s resolution was meant to change the name of the physics centre.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Nayyar said Dr Salam is the pride of Pakistain and that his work and contributions to the field of physics uphold Pakistain’s name across the globe.

Prof Hoodbhoy also criticised the government for its move and said Dr Salam is respected across the world and that there is also a centre named after him in Italia.

"Those trying to erase Dr Salam’s name will themselves be forgotten but [Dr Salam’s] name will be remembered by history," he said.

"This [resolution] is political expediency and was taken to appease the religious vote bank. We condemn such acts of the government as Dr Salam is the pride of the country," Mr Bari said.

The protesters demanded that the government take back the resolution.

The resolution was signed by representatives of various parties and read out by Capt Mohammad Safdar, who is the son-in-law of Nawaz Sharif
... served two non-consecutive terms as prime minister, heads the Pakistain Moslem League (Nawaz). Noted for his spectacular corruption, the 1998 Pak nuclear test, border war with India, and for being tossed by General Musharraf, then by the courts...
In 2016, the then prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, had approved renaming of the National Centre for Physics at Quaid-e-Azam University after physicist Dr Abdus Salam.

However,
there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened...
the National Centre for Physics was not properly given the name and the signboards have not been changed yet.

#3  Abu al-Fath Abd-Al Rahman Mansour-al-Khazini was an astronomer in the 12th century. He was ethnically Persian and never lived in what is now Pakistan.

Abdus Salam was actually from Pakistan and he died about 20 years ago. However as an Ahmadi, a lot of Sunnis consider him a heretic or apostate.

Police arrest 14 after teen raped, burned to death in India
[DAWN] Police arrested 14 men on Saturday after a teenager was raped and burned alive at her home in eastern India, in the latest case of sexual violence in the country.

The 16-year-old was abducted from her home when her family was away to attend a wedding and raped in a forest area of Jharkhand state on Thursday, a local police officer said.

The family complained to the village council which on Friday ordered two accused men to do 100 sit-ups and pay a fine of 50,000 rupees ($750).

Village councils of local elders often settle disputes, bypassing India's lengthy and expensive judicial system. Although they carry no legal weight, they exert massive influence over rural life.

Police said the punishment enraged the men, who beat the girl's parents before setting her on fire.

“The two accused thrashed the parents and rushed to the house where they set the girl ablaze with the help of their accomplices,” Ashok Ram, the officer in charge of the local police station, told AFP.

Ram said they had arrested 14 men over the case so far although the main suspect was still on the run.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das said he was shocked by the “gruesome incident” and called for stringent action against the culprits.

The incident comes as India reels under a string of violent sexual crimes despite tightening of laws.

On Friday, a 55-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after being accused of raping a nine-year-old in southern Andhra Pradesh state, the Press Trust of India reported.

Protests have been held across the country since horrific details emerged last month about an eight year-old girl being gang-raped and murdered in Jammu and Kashmir.

Boeing Will Manage the Supply Chain for the Bronco II Counterinsurgency Plane
[The National Interest] Boeing will manage the supply chain for the Paramount Group’s Advanced High-Performance Reconnaissance Light Aircraft (AHRLAC) counterinsurgency plane‐called the Bronco II in the United States‐through its subsidiary Aviall.

The U.S. defense giant had previously agreed to market the South African-developed aircraft in the United States as the Bronco II. Meanwhile, the international version of the single-engine turboprop is being marketed as the Mwari. Aviall will support supply chain procurement and management for AHRLAC production for all versions of the aircraft including both military variants. Meanwhile, Boeing’s Global Services unit will provide software-based solutions that enable centralized command and control of flight operations and produce total lifecycle support that reduces sustainment costs, the company said.

"This industry partnership provides not only a specialized aircraft that meets the U.S. customer’s unique mission needs but does so at a fraction of the procurement and lifecycle cost of aircraft with similar mission applications and capabilities," Eric Strafel, Aviall president and chief executive officer, said.
