#1 No one that counts in North Korea cares at all what the people feel about the dynasty. People shed genuine tears of sorrow when Stalin died. Noam Chomsky still gets choked up over that.

#2 And yet Kim Il-sung was a ruthless tyrant, too, whose Stalinist rule and war of attempted conquest against South Korea led to countless dead and maimed in both north and south, never mind the international troops who placed themselves in his path. Lives are more difficult under his son only because there is less remaining to be destroyed.
