#1 Didn't that entire anti-American Soviet kleptocracy collapse over a decade ago? Why is it like nothing has changed? What is with this world's general inability to connect the dots regarding terrorism? ~~Ras~~Putin needs to be dropped off in Beslan for some parking lot therapy.

Not really. The party bosses just took off their hammer-and-sickle lapel pins, and the kleptocratic tendencies that grew out of the Soviet system got amplified to the point of absurdity. The collapse of the Soviet Union wasn't a revolution.
