There's value in the sheriff being locally elected and the local mayors of large cities choosing theirs. It's call accountability. Name a federal official fired for misconduct or malfeasance in the last 8 years (outside of the uniform military who were 'retired' due to disagreements).
The late Gene Wilder not only played comedy, but wrote it. "Young Frankenstein," for my money Mel Brook's best film, was Wilder's idea, and the script was a joint effort by the two comic geniuses. Cloris Leachman's creepy cameo as Frau Blucher, the housekeeper and apparent mistress of the late monster-maker, qualifies as one of the funniest moments on the American screen. Horses rear in terror at the mention of her name. She gazes at her dead lover's grandson with a perverse lust that would grow fungus on a billiard ball. And she was in the film for a reason.
"Frau Blucher" was the married name of the renegade Jewish philosopher Hannah Arendt, the erstwhile mistress of the philosopher and sometime Nazi Party member Martin Heidegger. Who' IMO, would've been Nazi herself if they were taking Jews

When my kids were young, I played them Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein (already a decade old). They laughed soooo hard (while missing the adult jokes..I hope). They thought humor started when they were born and were pleasantly surprised. Then they saw "Kids in the hall"...
RIP Gene Wilder

[Daily Caller] Larry the Cable Guy doesn't have a good outlook if Hillary Clinton is elected president this November.
During an interview on "Fox and Friends" Tuesday morning, the 53-year-old comedian said the Democratic nominee will be the "end of the country."
"I know who I’m not voting for," he said. "I’ll give you the initials -- Hillary Clinton. This election is so crazy because I want to change."
"I like Trump, but some of things he says are outrageous, so you just don't know. It's kind of like the choice is, - Do I want to poop my pants or do I want someone else to poop my pants? I think I'll poop my own pants.'"
"It’s not like it used to be. If you pick somebody, people want to beat you up, give you death threats. Nobody's civil. Ever since social media came along, everybody’s a jerk. So if you say, "I kind of like Trump, I kind of like the things he says, you're always a racist."

Yes, and you get the same crap (especially here) when you say you're not a fan of Trump as well.
#2
I (like many) am most definitely not a fan of Trump. And yet things being as they are (Hillary) - I feel forced to crawl over broken glass while holding my nose to vote for him. Or as Larry says - poop my own pants.

If you can't bring yourself to pull the lever for any of the presidential candidates, please make a point of voting the remainder of the ticket. Regardless who sits in the White House, the party that controls Congress, the governorships and state legislatures will determine how much the president gets things his or her own way. If the Democrats regain control of the Senate, they'll keep a Donald Trump from accomplishing anything... and if the Senate has less than a veto-proof Republican majority, a veto-proof House won't be able to do anything about a President Clinton.
#5
The problem, cable guy, is that almost all voters want "the end of the country." Voters who elected obooboo twice to wreck what it used to be are disappointed and want redoubled efforts. Voters who hate what is has become and what it is becoming want that to die hard and fast. You see the problem?

[Breitbart] The Huffington Post has locked out a contributor and deleted his articles from the site questioning the health of Hillary Clinton.
Blogger David Seaman wrote two separate articles for the site, entitled "Hillary's Health Is Superb, Aside From Seizures, Lesions, Adrenaline Pens," and "Donald Trump Challenges Hillary Clinton To Health Records Duel."
However, the articles were since pulled from the site, with Seaman claiming on his Twitter feed that HuffPo had failed to give him "reason nor notice."
I don't think 0bean's brain-trust really understands the diversionary nature of their actions. I also don't think they understood what it meant when they called for Turkey's army to be under civilian control.
[Yahoo] The U.S. on Monday urged Turkish troops and Kurdish forces in northern Syria to halt their fighting, saying it hinders efforts to defeat the Islamic State group. But Turkey's president vowed to press ahead with the military operation until the IS and Kurdish Syrian fighters no longer pose a security threat to Ankara.
It was the first U.S. criticism of its NATO ally since it launched a U.S.-backed incursion into northern Syria to help Syrian rebels seize the town of Jarablus from the Islamic State group. They have been clashing with Kurdish Syrian forces around the town to try to halt their advance.
The battle now pits Turkey against the Kurdish-led force known as the Syria Democratic Forces-- a U.S.-backed proxy that is the most effective ground force battling IS militants in Syria's 5-year-old civil war. It puts Washington in the difficult spot of having to choose between two allies, and it is likely to divert resources from the fight against IS.
U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Washington has asked Turkey to "stay focused" on the fight against the Islamic State and not to engage with the SDF.
"We've called on both sides not to fight one another, not to fight each other," Carter said.
He told reporters at the Pentagon that Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, spoke to his Turkish counterpart Sunday. Carter added that he intends to discuss the issue next week in Europe with Turkish Defense Minister Fikri Isik.
Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said the clashes were of "deep concern," adding that they were not coordinated with U.S. forces, "and we do not support them."
"Uncoordinated operations and maneuvers only provide room for ISIL to find sanctuary and continue planning attacks against Turkey, the SDF, the United States, and our partners around the world," the statement said.
Turkish officials responded by insisting that Kurdish forces "immediately" withdraw east of the Euphrates River or face more attacks by Turkish forces.
"No one has the right to tell Turkey to 'fight this terror organization but don't fight that terror organization,'" said Omer Celik, a Turkish cabinet minister.
Turkey's Hurriyet newspaper, in an online edition, quoted Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus as responding to the Pentagon by saying the U.S. should keep to its promise and use its influence to press its Kurdish allies to withdraw to the east.
The sharp rhetoric -- and the continued fighting -- reflects the complicated and conflicting interests at stake in northern Syria after Turkish tanks rolled across the border Aug. 24 with the dual aim of containing the IS group and Kurdish forces.
The U.S. has supported Turkey in its demand that the SDF withdraw east of the Euphrates, which cuts into Jarablus. The goal is to clear the region south of Jarablus of Kurdish forces, thus keeping them from linking with other Kurdish-controlled areas in Afrin in Syria's northwestern corner.
Turkey pressed ahead with its offensive, seemingly bent on creating a de facto "safe zone" free of IS and the Kurds near its border. The Turkish military said Turkey-backed Syrian rebels -- a mix of various Islamist rebel factions -- have cleared 10 more villages of "terrorist entities" and now control of an area totaling some 400 square kilometers (about 150 square miles) south and west of Jarablus.
In an emailed statement, Turkish military officials said Syrian opposition forces were continuing their operations to clear IS-controlled areas.
Syrian opposition groups, meanwhile, reported that Turkish-backed Syrian rebels have captured more towns and villages as part of the operation named "Euphrates Shield," now in its sixth day.
Cook said the U.S. doesn't support reported Turkish airstrikes and artillery shelling of U.S.-backed Syrian Kurdish fighters -- or Kurdish attacks on Turkish troops -- in areas where IS fighters no longer operate.
In another sign of brewing discord, Cook said the Kurdish pullback to the east side of the Euphrates has "largely occurred."
At the White House, Ben Rhodes, President Barack Obama's deputy national security adviser, expressed concern that further action by Turkish troops against the Kurdish-led Syria Democratic Forces "would complicate efforts to have that united front against ISIL that we want," using another acronym for the Islamic State group.
Rhodes said that while the U.S. supported Turkey's efforts to clear IS fighters from Jarablus and secure its border, it would oppose Turkish efforts to move south and engage in activities against the SDF. He also said the U.S. has communicated to the SDF that they should not engage in military activity against Turkish forces.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkish operations will continue "until terror organizations such as Daesh, the PKK and its Syrian arm, the YPG, cease to be threats for our citizens."
Daesh is the Arabic name for the Islamic State group; the PKK is the Kurdistan Workers' Party, which has waged a 30-year insurgency in Turkey; and the YPG is the main Syrian Kurdish force known as the People's Protection Units.
Earlier this month, the Kurdish-led Syria Democratic Forces crossed the Euphrates and drove IS militants out of Manbij, a key supply hub south of Jarablus, following a costly 10-week campaign.
"The SDF have proven to be a reliable and capable force, and our support for the SDF in its fight against ISIL is ongoing and will continue to do so," Cook said, using another acronym to refer to the Islamic State group. "They have fought hard and sacrificed to try and rid Syria of this hateful group."
The Jarablus Military Council, which is part of the SDF, said its fighters will withdraw to areas south of the Sajour River, a tributary of the Euphrates. The Sajour is north of Manbij.
"We declare the withdrawal of our forces to south, to the Sajour River, to preserve the lives of civilians and so that they (Turks and their allies) don't have any justification to continue shelling civilians," the council said.
The move is unlikely to be accepted by Turkey, since Ankara wants the rebels to withdraw completely east of the Euphrates.
Syrian opposition activists have said at least 35 civilians were killed in northern Syria in the Turkish-led operation so far. Turkey denied any civilians had been hit. A Turkish soldier was killed Saturday by a Kurdish rocket attack, the first such fatality in Turkey's ground offensive.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the Turkey-backed rebels have captured 21 towns and villages near Jarablus from the Kurdish-dominated SDF.
The Observatory also reported clashes between rebels and IS fighters on the western edge of Jarablus. The Local Coordination Committees, an activist collective, said the rebels captured seven more villages since late Sunday.
Turkish artillery fired 61 rounds against 20 "terrorist" targets in and around Jarablus in the past 24 hours, Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

If the United States declared that to continue the bombing of Kurdish forces would result in Turkey's expulsion from NATO, we would soon see where Erdogan wants to drive his nation. (Which I admit is obvious to most, even the Muslim catamite Obama and his puppet-master ValJar.)

Fools...Ole Plugs Biden got shafted again...fly to Turkey, get to meet with the deputy mayor or some such...get told to bugger off...try not to look like a loser by issuing a press release to the only ground force that consistently wins against ISIS, the Kurds, stabbing the Kurds in the back by stating that they must withdraw from the Manjib AO like the Turks say or the US will hold up what little support that we give them. Meanwhile, Ben Rhodes - the biggest joke in DC - blathers on about Obama being concerned...
[SouthAfricaToday] In exclusive interviews, photos and research, The Associated Press has documented 72 of the mass graves that Islamic State extremists have left behind. It is the most comprehensive survey so far, but many more will likely be found as IS retreats.
In Syria, AP obtained 17 mass grave locations, including one with hundreds of bodies from a single tribe.
Total, the number of dead ranges from 5,200 to well over 15,000.
Scraped earth shows the likely site at Badoush Prison near Mosul, where more than 600 inmates died, according to exclusive satellite photos from the imagery intelligence firm AllSource Analysis.

[SOUTHAFRICATODAY.NET] Michelle Martens kept her new relationship with a man convicted of child endangerment a secret from friends and family for weeks -- as she helped plan her daughter’s 10th birthday party, sent the girl off daily to the school bus and held down her job at a local grocery store.
Now relatives and friends of the 35-year-old single mother are trying to figure out why they never knew about her involvement with the boyfriend and her invitation for his cousin who is a convicted felon to live in her apartment.
Court records show all three face charges in the death of Victoria Martens, who was expected to celebrate her 10th birthday the day her body was found last week after police say she was drugged, raped and killed in the apartment as her mother watched.
"Whatever demons she had we don’t know because she didn’t share them with us," said Laura Bobbs, who lived in Martens’ apartment complex for five years and now serves as a spokeswoman for Victoria’s relatives. "I should have been the one to see all this and I didn’t."
An officer responding to a report of a pre-dawn Aug. 24 disturbance at the apartment found Victoria’s remains in a bathtub, partially wrapped in a blanket that had been set on fire.
Bobbs, a local minister who lived until recently in an apartment below Martens, said she and the girl’s grandmother spoke to Martens almost daily. She recalled the mother was planning to order a cake for her daughter days before Victoria died.
The girl’s grandparents, who moved from New York to New Mexico to be closer to their grandchildren, were also in on the party planning, Bobbs said.
All are mystified over how Martens got involved with Fabian Gonzales and his cousin Jessica Kelley, Bobbs said. The three face charges of child abuse resulting in death, kidnapping and tampering with evidence and are placed in durance vile Drop the gat, Rocky, or you're a dead 'un! for lack of $1 million bail each.
At a news conference Monday held at Victoria’s favorite park, Bobbs thanked Albuquerque residents on behalf of the girl’s family for an outpouring of support and prayers.
The grandparents and other relatives did not speak but clutched each other, and some cried while wearing buttons showing a smiling Victoria adorned in purple, her favorite color.
Police said Martens and Gonzales met on a dating site online about a month before the killing, and that Martens allowed Kelley to move into her apartment after her release from prison about four days before the killing.

Apologies, they did away with the death penalty several years ago. She'll get no justice cause the state abrogated its responsibility to provide justice in turn for ending other methods the citizenry often employed.

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested a man, who allegedly planned to kill US President Barack Obama, local media reported.
According to the Fox News broadcaster, FBI arrested Joseph Gargiulo, who allegedly wanted to kill Obama and made a comment that he should do it, when the US leader would be on the golf course.
Apart from the US leader, Gargiulo reportedly wanted to target Homeland Security officers and Muslims, the broadcaster added.
The media outlet reported that Gargiulo had also acquired many weapons and ammunition, as well as thermite, which was used in production of explosives.

"Gargiulo had also acquired many weapons and ammunition"
I suspect that if he were really serious about it, he would have stopped acquiring gear as soon as he had one viable weapon. I'm guessing he was a fantasist with a mouth big enough to get him caught.
With a single shotgun blast, a 65-year-old woman in rural northern Virginia recently shot down a drone flying over her property.
The woman, Jennifer Youngman, has lived in The Plains, Virginia, since 1990. The Fauquier Times first reported the June 2016 incident late last week. It marks the third such shooting that Ars has reported on in the last 15 months--last year, similar drone shootings took place in Kentucky and California.
Youngman told Ars that she had just returned from church one Sunday morning and was cleaning her two shotguns--a .410 and a .20 gauge--on her porch. She had a clear view of the Blue Ridge Mountains and neighbor Robert Duvall’s property (yes, the same Robert Duvall from The Godfather). Youngman had seen two men set up a card table on what she described as a "turnaround place" on a country road adjacent to her house.
"I go on minding my business, working on my .410 shotgun and the next thing I know I hear ’bzzzzz,’" she said. "This thing is going down through the field, and they’re buzzing like you would scaring the cows."
Youngman explained that she grew up hunting and fishing in Virginia, and she was well-practiced at skeet and deer shooting.
"This drone disappeared over the trees and I was cleaning away, there must have been a five- or six-minute lapse, and I heard the ’bzzzzz,’" she said, noting that she specifically used 7.5 birdshot. "I loaded my shotgun and took the safety off, and this thing came flying over my trees. I don’t know if they lost command or if they didn’t have good command, but the wind had picked up. It came over my airspace, 25 or 30 feet above my trees, and hovered for a second. I blasted it to smithereens."
When the men began to walk towards her, she told them squarely: "The police are up here in The Plains and they are on their way and you need to leave."
The men complied. "They got in their fancy ostentatious car--I don’t know if it was a Range Rover or a Hummer--and left," she said. The Times said many locals believe the drone pilots may have been paparazzi or other celebrity spotters flying near Duvall's property.
Youngman said that she recycled the drone but managed to still be irritated by the debris left behind. "I’ve had two punctures in my lawn tractor," she said.
The Fauquier County Sheriff’s Office said it had no record of anyone formally complaining about this incident. When Ars asked if the office had heard of any other similar incidents in the region, Sgt. James Hartman replied: "It's happened around the country but not in this region to my knowledge."
A gray zone
For now, American law does not recognize the concept of aerial trespass. But as the consumer drone age has taken flight, legal scholars have increasingly wondered about this situation. The best case-law on the issue dates back to 1946, long before inexpensive consumer drones were technically feasible. That year, the Supreme Court ruled in a case known as United States v. Causby that a farmer in North Carolina could assert property rights up to 83 feet in the air.
In that case, American military aircraft were flying above his farm, disturbing his sleep and upsetting his chickens. As such, the court found he was owed compensation. However, the same decision also specifically mentioned a "minimum safe altitude of flight" at 500 feet--leaving the zone between 83 and 500 feet as a legal gray area. "The landowner owns at least as much of the space above the ground as he can occupy or use in connection with the land," the court concluded.
Last year, a pilot in Stanislaus County, California, filed a small claims lawsuit against a neighbor who shot down his drone and won. However, it is not clear whether the pilot managed to collect. Similarly, a case ensued in Kentucky after a man shot down a drone that he believed was flying above his property. The shooter in that case, William Merideth, was cleared of local charges, including wanton endangerment.
But earlier this year, the Kentucky drone's pilot, David Boggs, filed a lawsuit asking a federal court in Louisville to make a legal determination as to whether his drone’s flight constituted trespassing. Boggs asked the court to rule that there was no trespass and that he is therefore entitled to damages of $1,500 for his destroyed drone. The case is still pending.
Youngman said she believed in 2nd Amendment rights and also was irritated that people would try to disturb Duvall.
"The man is a national treasure and they should leave him the fuck alone," she said.

[TRIBUNE.PK] In a scathing criticism of the Pak elite, the former director of United Nations ...a formerly good idea gone bad... Development Programme (UNDP) for Pakistain Marc-André Franche, said the only way a critical change could happen in the country was when the influential, the politicians and the wealthy, would sacrifice short term, individual and family interests for the benefit of the nation.
"You cannot have an elite that takes advantage of very cheap and uneducated labour when it comes to making money, and when it is time to party it is found in London, and when it’s time to buy things it is in Dubai, and when it’s time to buy property it invests in Dubai or Europe or New York. The elite needs to decide do they want a country or not," Franche said, according to the Business Recorder.

[Khaosod] A man already wanted for car bombing a mall last year was named Monday in the third arrest warrant linked to the recent series of bombings in southern Thailand earlier this month.
A military court approved the warrant for Asmeen Katemmahdi on the same charges of possessing explosives and attempted arson as Ruslan Baima, the second suspect named earlier. Both men are accused of being behind the four Hua Hin blasts on August 11 and 12, which killed two people and wounded dozens more.
Asmeen is also suspected in a car bombing in April 2015 in the underground parking lot of the Central Festival Samui shopping mall. At the time, authorities considered the possibility that the explosion, which injured seven people including tourists, might have connected to the southern separatist movement.
Senior police investigator Srivara Ransibrahmanakul on Monday said Asmeen is a trained militant with a background in such attacks.
Asmeen and Ruslan were among three men identified as suspects in the Hua Hin bombings in sketches released Wednesday. Police are trying to confirm the identity of the third suspect. All three remain at large.
[CBSNEWS] Donald Trump is planning to speak at a predominantly black church in bankrupt, increasingly impoverished, reliably Democrat, Detroit ... ruled by Democrats since 1962. A city whose Golden Age included the Purple Gang... next weekend, his campaign announced Monday.
Pastor Mark Burns, a Trump supporter, said in a Trump blurb that he would be "speaking at the only African American owned and operated national Christian television network, The Impact Network," on Saturday morning in Detroit. He’ll be interviewed by Wayne Jackson at Great Faith Ministries.
Burns said in the release that Trump would be answering questions relevant to African Americans, like "unemployment, making our streets safe and creating better opportunities for all," and then he’ll deliver a speech on policies that "will impact minorities and the disenfranchised in our country."

JohnQC, I believe W tried to engage with the black community through the churches rather than the liberal controlled methods. It didn't help him when Katrina hit but still he did make the effort.
Trump has a good spiel with facts to back it on how the Democrats have let the black community down for decades. He doesn't have to bull$hit at all so I'm not sure how a liberal plant could derail much except the 'attack the messenger' type stuff. Even then the message will sink through to a lot of folks, especially if he adds "attacking the messenger and calling Republicans racist" to avoid anyone paying close attention to the democrat record as part of his speach.
[ARA News] GIRKE LEGE – Amid deteriorating security conditions in Syria’s eastern Deir ez-Zor province and the heavy losses that ISIS has recently suffered there, leading members of the radical group started to evacuate their positions and desert the ranks of the Islamic State (ISIS), activists reported on Monday.
Muhammad al-Rafdan, ISIS security chief in Deir ez-Zor, and Rafid Abdulkareem, the group’s military official in the same province, have reportedly escaped Deir ez-Zor.
“Both ISIS officials have deserted the group’s ranks. The ISIS-linked Hisba police found out that the two leading members of the group had left the province with their families earlier on Sunday,” local media activist Muhammad al-Haman told ARA News, citing ISIS members.
“It was not immediately clear where al-Rafdan and Abdulkareem have headed to,” the source said.
The two dissidents were members of the local Arab tribe of Al Agedat in Deir ez-Zor. They had reportedly joined ISIS ranks in early 2015, and promoted to leading positions in the group’s ranks for their influential status over the people of Deir ez-Zor province, according to local sources.

A year from now Western media will be reporting that Erdogan's military units act little differently than Assad's.
[THEDIPLOMAT] Jani Khel district in eastern Afghanistan fell to the Taliban Friday night, with high casualties inflicted on Afghan cops. After several days of siege by Taliban forces and no resupply to besieged Afghan troops, the strategic district located in Paktia province collapsed.
"We were 90 people, and we had to fight against 1,200 Taliban," Jani Khel’s district governor told The New York Times ...which still proudly displays Walter Duranty's Pulitzer prize... . "Twenty-seven of my men have been killed. At first, some of them were maimed and we brought them to the main road, but then a land mine went kaboom! and they were killed. We killed 130 of the enemy."
Governor Abdul Rahman Solamal told Tolo News in a separate interview that 30 security forces were killed in the attack, and about 1,200 Taliban forces were involved in the operation.
Furthermore, provincial authorities believe the Taliban, specifically the Haqqani Network, were assisted by Pakistain’s Inter-Services Intelligence ...the Pak military intelligence agency that controls the military -- heads of ISI typically get promoted into the Chief of Army Staff position. It serves as a general command center for favored turban groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammad, tries to influence the politix of neighboring countries, and carries out a (usually) low-level war against India in Kashmir... (ISI), the formidable spy network that many believe is responsible for Pakistain’s defense policy of strategic-depth -- the idea of destabilizing Afghanistan as a backdrop to an invasion by India.
The Haqqani Network, led by Sirajuddin Haqqani ...son of Pashtun warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani, still titular head of the Haqqani Network.... , is one of the most brutal networks in Afghanistan, associated with many high profile attacks in Afghanistan and Kabul ...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either.... . The group is listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department, and so are three of its leaders. Its leader, Sirajuddin Haqqani, was made the deputy leader of the Taliban by Haibatullah Akhundzada ...Deputy to Taliban supremo Mullah Akhtar Mansour... , the group’s current supreme leader after a U.S. Arclight airstrike killed Mullah Mansour late this Spring.
The collapse of Jani Khel district has stoked fears that the Haqqani Network may utilize the region as a springboard for attacks in Kabul; moreover, the district’s geographic location offers strategic and tactical value to any force that controls it.
Located in eastern Afghanistan Paktia province, the district borders Khost province ... across the border from Miranshah, within commuting distance of Haqqani hangouts such as Datta Khel and probably within sight of Mordor. Khost is populated by six different tribes of Pashtuns, the largest probably being the Khostwal, from which it takes its name... . Linking the two provinces is a key highway that leads from Khost to the scenic provincial capital of Gardez in Paktia. The fall of Jani Khel threatens to destabilize neighboring districts such as Jadran, Shwack, and Gardez, the collapse of which would provide the Haqqani Network access to move guns, money, supplies, and forces from tribal areas in Pakistain through the Khost-Gardez highway.

It's an M-60A1E2, a tank with weaker armor and main gun than the T-72. The Kornet until sometime five years ago was the Russian's top of the line ATGM. No surprise the M-60 didn't survive the hit.
The People’s Protection Units (also known as the YPG) rebels have reportedly fired missiles targeting Turkish tanks in Jarablus.
A Turkish soldier operating in Syria was killed by a YPG anti-tank missile that hit a tank and injured another three soldiers. This occurred close to the SDF-controlled village of Amelina where the YPG have built fortifications.
The casualties are the first for Turkey since the launch of Operation Euphrates Shield to rid the border region of terrorists on Wednesday.
Speaking on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, a military official said Russian-made Kornet anti-tank missiles were launched at two Turkish tanks, the northern Syrian city freed from Daesh.
The tanks were hit 7 kilometers south of Jarablus, where Turkish forces helped the Free Syrian Army (FSA) to clear Daesh terrorists from the area. The rockets had been fired from an area where the YPG militia has been active.
[AlArabiya] Jets believed to be Syrian planes hit the besieged Al-Waer neighborhood in the city of Homs on Sunday, a day after the evacuation of residents and fighters from rebel-held Daraya on the outskirts of the capital, residents and a monitor said.
They said over a dozen air strikes on the residential quarter caused at least seven deaths and dozens of civilian injuries in the last rebel-held area in Homs city, Syria’s third largest city.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said a woman and child were among the dead. Videos posted by social media showed children suffering burns from what activists said were incendiary bombs. Reuters could not independently verify the images.
It was the second day of air raids, the first such strikes since around a year ago in the rebel-held area where community leaders in December reached a UN-sponsored deal with authorities to evacuate fighters under a phased plan that would have shored up government control of the city.
But there has been no progress since the evacuation of hundreds of fighters in implementing later phases of the deal that stipulates that fighters still in the district must surrender heavy weapons while being allowed to keep their light arms.
Homs was a center of the uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. A previous truce in Homs in 2014 allowed insurgents to withdraw from the Old City while Al-Waer remained in the hands of insurgents.
It has since been under a tight siege by Syrian army and pro-government militias. Aside from several UN humanitarian deliveries, the authorities have blocked supplies of most food and aid into the quarter.
Residents and local officials said the escalation came a day after former rebel-held Daraya, a Damascus suburb, was evacuated by rebels after relentless bombing and a tough siege.
They accuse the army of stepping up military pressure on Al-Waer to force a capitulation of the rebels who are estimated to number several thousand in a district with at least 50,000 civilians.
“The regime after succeeding in evicting the people of Daraya has begun to escalate its pressure on us,” said Bebars Tilawi, an activist in the quarter.
Aid officials and Washington have decried what they call a “starve-or-surrender tactic” they say is used mainly by the Syrian government and other warring parties as a tool against besieged areas to regain government control.
[NYDAILYNEWS] An accidental bump on the shoulder after a party at Cornell University may have led to the stabbing death of a promising college student from Brooklyn, his heartbroken sister said Monday.
Anthony Nazaire, a sophomore at neighboring Ithaca College, had just returned to school after spending the summer in Flatbush with his mother and older sister. The 19-year-old business major was stabbed several times during a bloody brawl early Sunday morning.
Nazaire's friend, identified by sources as Rahiem Williams, was also stabbed in the fight but survived.
Kiara Nazaire said police told the family they have one suspect in the senseless slaying. A knife was recovered from the scene, but it was not known if it was the murder weapon.
"(Anthony Nazaire) was with his friend, his friend bumped a girl by accident and he apologized. The both of them apologized - even my brother apologized and he didn't bump the girl," Kiara Nazaire, 24, told the Daily News.
Kiara Nazaire said the friend, Williams, is distraught and called her crying to apologize.
"It's not his fault," she said. "They didn't ask for it. I know my brother - my brother's not gonna argue with any girls."

I could speculate on the ethnic background of the stabber (I wuz dissed!), but that would just be scoring cheap political points.
[ARA News] ALEPPO – Kurdish forces of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) hold the Turkish government responsible for the treatment of four fighters that were captured by its proxy forces in northern Syria, the YPG said in a statement on Monday.
“Turkish warplanes on August 28 bombed the village of Al-Kusa south of Jarabulus city. As a result, tens of civilians were massacred and an unknown number of local residents were injured,” the YPG said. “After the attack, the [SDF-linked] Military Council of Jarabulus whose forces were positioned in the area called for urgent support in order to help evacuating civilians and treating the injured.”
“Accordingly, a unit of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) – formed of four fighters – tried to reach the noted area as they were ready near Qereqozax bridge. Yet, Turkish army and affiliated militants ambushed the vehicle of that unit and captured four combatants inside,” the YPG said.
After the fighters were captured, they were paraded on pictures without clothes and exposed to torture in public.
“From this point, we say to the public opinion, we consider the Turkish government and its army fully responsible for the life and health of our fighters,” the YPG added.
Turkey-backed rebels and the Turkish army captured the town of Jarabulus on 24 August without a fight. Immediately afterwards, clashes started to erupt between US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the pro-Turkey factions.
On Monday, the SDF-backed Jarabulus Military Council said it would withdraw its fighters to the south of Sajur river, in order to protect civilians.
“After Turkey carried out a massacre in south of Jarabulus and threatened us to target civilian villages again, we decided to withdraw,” the council said.
The YPG leadership reported on Monday renewed Turkish artillery shelling and airstrikes that led to the death and injury of scores of civilians in northern Syria.
“Intensified random shelling by Turkish army forces killed 5 civilians, including 3 children, in Dandania village southern Jarabulus, northern Syria,” the YPG said.

[ALMASDARNEWS] The Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. They have also been referred to as the Believing Youth. Hussein Badreddin al-Houthi is said to be the spiritual leader of the group and most of the military leaders are his relatives. The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of having ties to the Iranian government, which wouldn't suprise most of us. The group has managed to gain control over all of Saada Governorate and parts of Amran, Al Jawf and Hajjah Governorates. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... forces sent a powerful response to Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... on Monday night after the latter conducted several Arclight airstrikes over the Sanaa and Saada governorates earlier in the day.
According to Yemeni Republican Guard, the Houthi forces fired a number of Qahir-1 ballistic missiles at the strategic Saudi military airport in the Asir province of Saudi Arabia on Monday night, causing severe damage to the equipment at this base.
In addition to the attack on the Saudi military airport in the Asir Province, the Houthi forces also targeted several Saudi army installations in the Jizan Region of southern Saudi Arabia.
The missile strikes in the Jizan Region reportedly resulted in a significant number of casualties for the Saudi-led Coalition forces.

Beirut- Turkey’s army pushed deeper into Syria as clashes sparked in al-Amarna, 8 km south of Jarabulus. Conflicting news on seizing the village spread; as Free Syrian Army sources announced that FSA seized the village, sources from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that Turkish forces and factions failed to take control of the town.
A statement by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) said that warplanes carried out strikes on five buildings that belong to Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the region. The statement underlined that all precautions are being taken and that maximum care is being applied to prevent civilians living in the region from being hurt.
Just like they do in the Kurdish regions back home, no doubt.
Twenty-five members of PKK and YPG were killed in the strikes carried out by F-16 fighter jets, according to TSK.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a monitoring group, declared that 35 civilians had been killed and 75 wounded in the two villages hit by Turkish airstrikes in northern Syria. The group added that at least 20 were killed and 50 were wounded in Turkish bombardment on Jub al-Kousa.
Idriss Nassan, a senior Kurdish official in Kobane, told Asharq Al-Awsat that Jarablus and Manbij military councils and Army of Revolutionaries forces defied on Sunday the attack on al-Amarna. “There were casualties from both sides,” added Nassan.
Nassan also said that “Turkish expansion is a clear indicator that Turkey wants to impose a siege on self-administrations in east Euphrates,” however he doubted Turkey’s plan would see the light.
Furthermore, Kurdish fighters launched a battle whose target is to reach Tabqa, a city located in Raqqa Governorate, in order to cut off ISIS supply. Abu Mohammad al-Raqqawi, activist in the “Raqqa Is Being Slaughtered Silently,” told Asharq Al-Awsat that the forces are now 35 km away from Tabqa in race with the Syrian regime to reach this strategic city.
“The regime will fall short to move forward especially following the last three failed attempts, given that it is a desert area … that makes regime forces easy prey for ISIS,” added Raqqawi.

This comes amid a large-scale Turkish-backed offensive against ISIS and Kurdish factions in northeastern Aleppo.

[Libya Observer] Danish ship, Apsalon, was loaded with 350 to 400 tons of chemical weapons on Saturday at Misrata port heading toward Germany as part of the Libyan chemical weapons transfer program signed in 2013.
The security chief responsible for monitoring the process, Ramadan Al-Zain, said the Danish ship has experts on board who will deal with the chemical weapons, adding that the shipment was loaded from stocks in Al-Jufra and brought to Misrata under the security of the forces fighting IS in Sirte.
"We feared that those chemical weapons would fall in IS hard boys’ hands." Al-Zain indicated, adding that this is the last shipment marking the end of the transfer program.
Libya disposed of its mustard gas stockpile back in 2013 knowing that it was scheduled to be destroyed in 2011, yet the February revolution and other technicalities disallowed it.
The chemical weapons will be transferred from Libya to Germany and will be paid for by the UK and the US along with Germany. They will be disposed of in 15 months as planned and as Denmark’s Defense Ministry website wrote.
The UN Security Council voted unanimously on July 22 to allow the transfer of the chemical weapons from Libya to be destroyed under the supervision of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

[IBTIMES.CO.IN] The United States has handed over crucial evidence to National Investigation Agency which confirms Pakistain's involvement in January's Pathankot Air Force Station terrorist attack. It also reveals Internet Protocol (IP) addresses of Facebook groups used by the handlers in Pakistain.
The attack on January 2 by a heavily armed terrorist group had claimed the lives of six security personnel. The Narendra Modi government claims that Pakistain-based Islamist terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammad ...literally Army of Mohammad, a Pak-based Deobandi terror group founded by Maulana Masood Azhar in 2000, after he split with the Harkat-ul-Mujaheddin. In 2002 the government of Pervez Musharraf banned the group, which changed its name to Khaddam ul-Islam and continued doing what it had been doing before without missing a beat... (JeM) was behind the attack and demands to bring the culprits to justice.
According to emerging reports, the U.S. has provided the IP addresses of Facebook accounts operated by JeM members behind the attack. The information also includes the IP address of the website of JeM's financial arm, Al Rehman Trust, according to the Times of India.
The U.S. investigation also found that the Facebook groups accessed by JeM handler Kashif Hain's friends and associates were also related to jihad. JeM also had pictures of the four bully boyz killed in the Pathankot attack -- Hafiz Abu Bakar, Umar Farooq, Abdul Qayum and Nasir Hussain.

[SIASAT] Former Pak ambassador to the United States, Husain Haqqani said he has finally received his passport after much delay as he was being forced to give up his Pak citizenship over his alleged anti-Pakistain views.
Haqqani has been living in the United States for more than a decade but retains his Pak citizenship and travels on a Pak passport.
He had applied for a new passport several months ago, after his old passport expired, but he received it only on August 25.
Haqqani said in a statement on Friday that the passport he received at the Pakistain Embassy in Washington on Aug 25 was dated June 9, showing that it was issued almost three months before the embassy gave it to him, reports the Express Tribune.
"The Interior Ministry, Islamabad, had also informed me that it was dispatched to Washington in June," he said.
The normal process of issuance of passport requires the embassy to inform the applicant once it receives the passport as after the introduction of the new computerised filing system, passports for overseas Paks are issued in Islamabad.
"I never received the call and whenever I asked, I was told that the passport had not been received. Someone probably wanted to force me to get a US passport, something I have avoided so far," he said.
Haqqani noted that after the Pak media reported that Pak authorities were reluctant to issue him a passport, the Interior Ministry released a statement saying they had not delayed the passport.

White House senior adviser Brian Deese said the president has the legal authority to ratify the accord without the two-thirds Senate vote required for treaties. He said the pact negotiated by 195 countries in December is merely an “executive agreement.”
So when that executive retires, the agreement does, too. The 'executive' agreed, the Nation did not.

Turkish warplanes bombed Kurdish militant targets in northern Iraq Monday, as Ankara pressed its military operation against ISIS militants and a Syrian Kurdish militia in neighboring Syria, state media said.
Turkish air force jets launched strikes between 09:30 and 10:55 GMT against targets of the “separatist terrorist organization” in Gara in northern Iraq, Anadolu news agency said, referring to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
The targets were “destroyed,” Anadolu added.
The PKK is proscribed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the European Union and the United States and its command is based in the Qandil mountains of northern Iraq.
The air strikes in northern Iraq were the first since the Syria operation began on Wednesday.
Gunfire hit Kilis
A Turkish military source, meanwhile, said Ankara responded with artillery fire after rocket and gunfire from Syria hit the Turkish border town of Kilis, some 80 km (50 miles) west of where Turkish-backed Syrian militia fighters launched an incursion last week.
It was not immediately clear who fired the rocket or opened fire from the Syrian side, the source said.
Kilis lies across from Syrian territory controlled by Kurdish militia forces but also close to an area held by ISIS militants.
A second Turkish official said three rockets had hit Kilis and that four people had been wounded.
Turkish military sources on Monday also denied the army fired at Syrian Kurdish YPG militia forces in Hasaka province, after the YPG said one of their fighters was injured by shots from Turkish forces along the border.
“It’s absolutely not true,” one of the sources told Reuters, adding that there was no operation by the Turkish military near Hasaka province.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s foreign minister on Monday ordered predominantly Kurdish Syrian militia forces to withdraw east of the Euphrates River “immediately” or face more strikes by Turkish forces that crossed the border last week.
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s comments came as Syrian opposition groups reported that Turkish-backed Syrian militias have captured more towns and villages in northern Syria as part of the operation named “Euphrates Shield,” now in its sixth day.
Turkish tanks rolled across the border last week to help Syrian opposition fighters seize the town of Jarablus from ISIS, a move that was also aimed at deterring further advances by Kurdish-led militia forces.
Both Turkey and the United States have ordered the main Kurdish fighting force, the Kurdish People’s Protection Units, or YPG, to withdraw to the east bank of the Euphrates.
“The YPG has to immediately cross east of the Euphrates River as they promised the United States and as they announced they would,” Cavusoglu said. “If they don't they will be a target.”

[REUTERS] Libyan forces said they captured a residential neighborhood in central Sirte from Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... on Monday, leaving just one district of the city still occupied by the turbans.
Spokesman Rida Issa said Sirte's neighborhood Number One was "completely liberated", but added that the brigades, backed by U.S. air strikes, were "in the process of clearing any remnants of ISIS (Islamic State)" from the area.
For more than three months, brigades aligned with Libya's U.N.-backed government have been battling to oust Islamic State from Sirte, a coastal city that the turban group turned into a regional stronghold last year.
The United States began an air campaign over Sirte on Aug. 1, and had by Sunday carried out 92 strikes against Islamic State.
Militants have defended themselves with jacket wallahs, snipers and mines, inflicting heavy casualties on brigade fighters. At least six brigade members were killed and 12 maimed on Monday, according to hospital officials.
The latest gains came after the brigades made significant advances on Sunday in which 35 of their men were killed and more than 200 maimed.
Many of the latest casualties were caused by mines, boom-mobiles or artillery fire, according to hospital officials and brigade fighters.
[Libya Observer] Misrata-led forces captured on Sunday ISIS main mosque in Sirte after a massive offensive to terminate the radical group in its last hideouts in the city.
Backed by Arclight airstrikes, heavy artillery and tanks, the infantry advanced deep into residential district 3 and gained more grounds from ISIS including the key Cordoba Mosque, which was renamed to Abu Musab Zarqawi Mosque following last year's tribal uprising against the group.
Leading ISIS preachers, including Bahraini Turki Benali, used to give Jihad lessons to ISIS followers in this mosque.
In August 2015, locals of residential district 3, mainly from Furjan tribe, turned against ISIS and clashed with its forces of Evil for days after the killing of Cordoba mosque's Imam Khaled Furjani. The Furjan fighters positioned inside Cordoba Mosque and used rooftops of nearby buildings to shoot at ISIS bully boys, who finally managed to put down the uprising.
The tossed in the slammer Book 'im, Mahmoud! members of Furjan tribe were executed outside the mosque, which was a key symbol for the tribe.
2 days later, ISIS renamed the mosque to Abu Musab Zarqawi and forced local residents and Furjan tribe members to attended Jihad lessons.
On Sunday, Misrata-led forces said around 70% of residential district 3 and 80% of residential district 1 were retaken from ISIS. 38 Misrata-led fighters were killed and more than 185 others maimed in the offensive.

[EN.TEMPO.CO] Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto, said that the government is in the process of confirming reports about the number of casualties in the battle beteen the Filipino military and the Abu Sayyaf ...also known as al-Harakat al-Islamiyya, an Islamist terror group based in Jolo, Basilan and Zamboanga. Since its inception in the early 1990s, the group has carried out bombings, kidnappings, murders, head choppings, and extortion in their uniquely Islamic attempt to set up an independent Moslem province in the Philippines. Abu Sayyaf forces probably number less than 300 cadres. The group is closely allied with remnants of Indonesia's Jemaah Islamiya and has loose ties with MILF and MNLF who sometimes provide cannon fodder... gang. Wiranto however, refused to provide further comment.
"There has been confirmation; we are still elaborating [the reports]. Before that, we will not speak," Wiranto said on Monday, August 29, 2016.
On Sunday, August 28, 2016, Filipino local media Inquirer.net reported that three Abu Sayyaf high-ranking officials were killed in a two days fire shootout in southern Philippines. Mayolargo de la Cruz, Chief of the West Mindanao Command forces said that the three victims were Mohammah Said, also known as Amah Maas; Sairul Asbang; and Abu Latip.
Meanwhile, ...back at the wrecked scow, a single surviver held tightly to the smashed prow... as many as 17 members of the Filipino armed forces were maimed in the clash that started on August 26, 2016. "The armed forces found ten bodies, including Said," Cruz said.
A splinter of the main Abu Sayyaf group led by Said was the criminal mastermind behind the abduction of three foreigners and a Filipino woman in the island of Samal on September 2015. The group was also believed to be responsible for the murder of two Canadian nationals John Ridsdel and Robert Hall.
Cruz confirmed that the military operation launched by Filipino armed forces will not threaten the lives of hostages held by the gang. "We are very careful. In addition, we have intelligence information about the location of the hostages while we make our moves," Cruz said, while adding that Said had been listed as a runaway for a long time.
Although they claimed to have killed three Abu Sayyaf brass hats, the Filipino armed forces cannot find the remaining bodies. "[The bodies] were brought by some of the group's members who managed to escape," said Col. Edgard Arevelo, Chief of Public Relation Office of the Filipino Armed Forces on Sunday, August 28, 2016.

He was released around 1990 in a deal with the United States government and spent nearly two decades in the United States, gaining US citizenship. In 1993, while living in the United States, he was convicted in absentia of crimes against the Jamahiriya and sentenced to death. Haftar held a senior position in the anti-Qadaffy forces in the 2011 Libyan Civil War. In 2014 he was commander of the Libyan Army when the General National Congress (GNC) refused to give up power in accordance with its term of office. Haftar launched a campaign against the GNC and its Islamic fundamentalist allies. His campaign allowed elections to take place to replace the GNC, but then developed into a civil war. Guess you can't win them all... are ISIS supporters, Al-Qaeda members and Moslem Brüderbund affiliates. In addition, western countries which refuse to support Dignity Operation and its leader Khalifa Haftar, as Egypt and the UAE are doing now, are members of the international network of Moslem Brüderbund.
Last year, TV anchor Mohammed Imtallal, a mouthpiece for Khalifa Haftar, accused US President Barack Obama teachable moment... of being a member of the international network of Moslem Brüderbund for not providing weapons to Dignity Operation.
Now, the notorious anchor gave his viewers a strange piece of advice; how to distinguish Moslem Brüderbund followers among the public, the latest one of a series of ridiculous remarks that Dignity Operation supporters are accustomed to make.
In his night show on Libya Akhbaria TV last week, he said Moslem Brüderbund followers wear cardigans, jeans, grow short beard and wear prescription eyeglasses.
"They -Moslem Brüderbund followers- are fans of Argentina ...a country located on the other side of the Deep South. It is covered with Pampers and inhabited by Grouchos, who dance the Tangle. They used to have some islands called the Malvinas located where the Falklands are now. They're not supposed to cry for Evita... and Brazil football teams in addition to Manchester United football club," Imtallal said.
"We must get rid of Moslem Brüderbund in Libya. Don't shake hands with them, don't buy or sell them." He urged his viewers.
Mohammed Imtallal is notorious for inciting killing and murder of anti dignity operation journalists, political activists, and doctors in east Libya. He usually gives details live on air of any suspects and urges so-called Sahawat forces of Evil to attack them.
Among his victims was Anis Mikraz, a former national team footballer from Derna. His name was mentioned in Imtallal's night show. Shortly after this, Mikraz escaped an liquidation attempt when assailants attacked his house with a boom-mobile.
Muftah Bonnafra, a political activist from al-Bayda , was also kidnapped by gunnies from his shop after his name was mentioned by Imtallal live on TV. His body was found in al-Marj city with signs of torture.

Missed it completely. Plaid on Thursday is the key.
PENTAGON: A sleek little model sits on the desk of Lt. Gen. Jon "Dog" Marine Commanders have such cool nicknames!
Davis, Marine deputy commandant for aviation. What is that, we asked? The next tiltrotor Bell Helicopter Textron hopes the Marine Corps will buy. But it's not the V-280 Valor, the new manned tiltrotor Bell plans to fly next year. It's an unmanned tiltrotor designed to give the Marines a drone that can do everything the Air Force's armed MQ-9 Reaper does - and more. Especially taking off and landing from ships or from land where there's no runway.
Diyala –Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi has sent an elite force to Diyala governorate after several armed fights erupted between tribes in Abu Saida area.
Heavy and medium weapons were used in the clashes that led to the death and injury of several people.
An informed source told Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper that the fights were not purely tribal but also political.
The source explained that the clashes happened between members of the same faction, and most probably between members of the same legion of the Badr Organization. He went on to say that the armed dispute was between two platoons of Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) in the district.
The source added that the clash is not sectarian because both sides are Shi’ites, and is not political given that the two parties belong to the same tribe and have the same political affiliation.
The source concluded that the fight was about positions given that the governor wants to expel the director of Abo Saida area, whereas the director is trying to gather signatures on a petition to remove the governor from his post.
According to the source, this raises fears of possible inter-Shi’ite fight in the governorate after the disputes between the tribes have grown.
He added that the tribes and platoons were all united against al-Qaeda and then ISIS. But after ISIS’ withdrawal from the city there are fears that clashes could grow into more serious tension if the Baghdad leadership doesn’t contain the situation.
Diyala MP Salah al-Jabouri told Asharq al-Awsat that the fights in the governorate are neither among tribes nor among sects. He explained that the dispute is among armed forces and militias, raising fears that the fights would reach other governorates.
“These clashes are based on political and party interests,” he explained.
In addition, former Diyala governor Omar al-Hamiri told Asharq Al-Awsat that tribes of Diyala are an important pillar of the security, tribal and social aspect of the governorate. He added that the tribes had always had important roles in times of struggle and violence but never went into fights and clashes.
He explained that what had happened was due to personal interests.
Hamiri called upon all Diyala tribes to unite against those who want to benefit from the bloodshed of the members of the tribes.

[CNN] ISIS has grabbed credit for a suicide boom-mobileing Monday that killed dozens of recruits at a military training camp in Yemen's southern port city of Aden, according to the ISIS-affiliated Amaq news agency.
At least 71 people were killed in the attack, and at least 33 others were maimed, according to the Aden governor's office and medics.
The boom-mobilewent kaboom! inside a training camp for forces allied to Saudi-backed Yemeni President Abdurabu Mansour Hadi ...the second and possibly the last president of Yemen, successor to former President-for-Life Ali Abdullah Saleh... , according to two security bigshots in Aden.
Why US, Britannia are key to ending Yemen ...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of. Except for a tiny handfull of Jews everthing there is very Islamic... horror
The kaboom occurred at 8:15 a.m. local time (1.15 a.m. ET) while recruits were waiting in line to be enrolled among troops heading to battle at the Saudi-Yemeni border, the officials said.
Aden has been the de-facto capital of Hadi's Saudi-backed government. The actual capital, Sanaa, has been under the control of Houthi ...a Zaidi Shia insurgent group operating in Yemen. Its slogan is God is Great, Death to America™, Death to Israel, a curse on the Jews ... rebels since last year.
ADEN, Yemen: A Daesh group militant rammed his explosives-laden car into an army recruitment center in Aden on Monday, killing 60 people in the deadliest jihadist attack to hit the city in over a year.
Yemen’s army, supported by a Saudi-led coalition, is training young recruits to join its nationwide war against Shiite Houthi rebels and their allies, as well as Sunni jihadists.
Aden is the temporary base of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, which was forced into exile after Iran-backed insurgents seized Sanaa and other parts of the war-torn country.
Security officials told AFP that the attacker drove a car bomb into a gathering of army recruits at a school in northern Aden early Monday.
Although the school was locked as recruits registered inside, the attacker drove in when the gate was opened for a delivery vehicle, officials said.
Witnesses said some recruits were buried when a roof collapsed over them following the blast, which also damaged buildings close to the recruitment center.
The assault killed at least 60 people and wounded about 30 others, medical sources from the three hospitals where the victims were taken told AFP.
They could not immediately verify if all those killed were army recruits.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said on Twitter that their hospital in Aden “received 45 dead and at least 60 wounded” from the explosion.
Aden has seen a wave of bombings and shootings targeting officials and security forces.
Attacks in the port city are often claimed by jihadists from either Al-Qaeda or Daesh, who have both taken advantage of the chaos in Yemen to make gains in southern and southeastern regions.
Daesh claimed Monday’s bombing on its official propaganda outlet, Amaq, saying the blast had killed around 60 people.
Earlier this month, a suicide bomber rammed his vehicle into a large group of army reinforcements sent from Aden to fight jihadists in neighboring Lahj, killing five soldiers, according to military officials.
No group has claimed that attack.
But on July 20, four policemen were killed in an Daesh-claimed bomb attack in Aden.
And in May, twin suicide bombings in Aden claimed by Daesh killed at least 41 people.
Yemeni authorities have trained hundreds of soldiers in Aden over the past two months as part of operations to retake neighboring southern provinces from jihadists.
Earlier this month, Yemeni government forces backed by a Saudi-led coalition entered Abyan’s provincial capital Zinjibar.
Troops retook other towns across Abyan but have been met by fierce resistance in the key Al-Qaeda stronghold of Al-Mahfid, security sources said.
The militants are still present in areas surrounding the recaptured towns and control large parts of the neighboring Shabwa province, the sources say.
The Arab coalition battling Iran-backed rebels in Yemen has also been providing troops with air cover throughout their war against the jihadists.
The United States has meanwhile carried out numerous drone strikes against Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) operatives in Yemen.
The Saudi-led coalition intervened in Yemen in March last year and helped government troops push the rebels out of Aden and four other southern provinces since July 2015.
The war in Yemen has also impacted security in Saudi Arabia, where shelling from the kingdom’s impoverished neighbor killed three Saudi children and wounded nine other people on Sunday.
Cross-border attacks from Yemen have intensified since the suspension in early August of UN-brokered peace talks between the rebels and Yemen’s Saudi-backed government.
The Arab coalition has also stepped up its air raids in Yemen since peace talks collapsed.
More than 6,600 people, mostly civilians, have been killed in Yemen since March 2015 and more than 80 percent of the population has been left in need of humanitarian aid, according to the UN.

[TRIBUNE.PK] An Indonesian man who has emerged as the world’s oldest at an incredible 145 years has revealed he is ready to die. He's so old they had to radiocarbon date him.
Documents recognised by Indonesian officials show Mbah Gotho is 145 and was born on December 31, 1870. If his documentation is authentic, it would make him the oldest human on earth; a title currently held by by French centenarian Jeanne Calment, who was 122 when she died. But if the documents cannot be independently verified, Mr Gotho will not go down in the record books.
During an interview with a regional news network, he revealed that he wants to die. For the past three months he has needed to be bathed and spoon-fed, and is becoming increasingly frail. When asked the secret to a long life, he replied, "The recipe is just patience." Gotho said he began preparing for his death in 1992, even having a gravestone made, but 24 years later he is still alive. He has now outlived all ten of his siblings, his four wives and his children.

[SIASAT] A local Afghanistan court has sentenced guerilla commander Sirajuddin Haqqani ...son of Pashtun warlord Jalaluddin Haqqani, still titular head of the Haqqani Network.... ’s brother Anas Haqqani to death, according to reports.
A section of media quoted Baseer Aziz, spokesperson for the office of attorney general, saying that a primary court awarded death sentence to Anas, who was captured by United States security officials after he visited Qatar ...an emirate on the east coast of the Arabian Peninsula. It sits on some really productive gas and oil deposits, which produces the highest per capita income in the world. Baseer refused to comment on when and where the verdict was handed down.
The Taliban had earlier confirmed Anas and Rashid’s detention, adding that the two had travelled to Qatar to meet Taliban leaders released from Guantanamo. The US later handed over Anas and another senior Taliban capo to Afghan authorities.
The Afghan government claimed Anas had been locked away Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! in eastern Afghanistan.
Working under the defence ministry, an Afghan army website ArmyAFG, also confirmed the reports. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid is yet to comment.
According to Afghan legal experts, local court convicts have the right to appeal in high court, as well as the supreme court. Afghan officials earlier claimed that Anas was taking care of fundraising for the Haqqani network; however, the Taliban, while denying the claim said Anas was a student, who held no position in the organization.
The Taliban had also accused US of violating an understanding reached during the exchange of prisoners, which allowed relatives to visit freed Guantanamo inmates.
The verdict came a few months after the Afghan government hanged six Taliban prisoners in Kabul ...the capital of Afghanistan. [ALMASDARNEWS] The official spokesperson for the Islamist rebel group "Jaish al-Islam ...Liwa al-Islam (Brigade of Islam) was established by Zahran Alloush, the son of Saudi-based religious scholar Abdullah Mohammed Alloush, after Syrian authorities released him from prison in mid-2011 where he had been serving time for his Salafist activism. The group claimed responsibility for carrying out the July 2012 Damascus bombing that killed Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Asef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani. It was a driving force behind actions in the Damascus region. It cooperated and conducted joint operations with al-Nusra. In Sptember 2013 Saudi Arabia engineered Liwa al-Islam's merger with fifty other more or less Salafist groups as a counterweight to al-Nusra, which the Learned Elders of Islam considered was growing too powereful... " (Army of Islam) announced on Monday that he is resigning from his position.
The official spokesperson, Islam Alloush, shared his statement through Jaish Al-Islam’s official social media wing; however, he did not cite any reason for his abrupt departure from this large Islamist group.
Recently, the Syrian government and village elders met in Douma to discuss a possible ceasefire/reconciliation agreement that would put an end the hostilities between the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Jaish Al-Islam in the East Ghouta.
Alloush was believed to have opposed this kind of agreement with the Syrian government, despite several pleas by the village elders in the East Ghouta to end the conflict.
Jaish Al-Islam has not named an immediate replacement for Islam Alloush.

[DAILYCALLER] As Justice Department civil rights lawyers held a meeting to talk about overhauling the Baltimore police department, another group of Baltimore residents gathered to beg the police to fix the crime in their neighborhoods.
The meetings show a disconnect between those who are concerned about crime and those worried about police reform, reports the Washington Post. Neither group was aware the other one was meeting.
About 40 people, most of them older black women, gathered in a West Baltimore church basement to ask police to return order to their community.
A gas station owner whose parking lot had been taken over by loiterers begged for help; a 17-year old was also fatally shot there. Another man asked about the foot patrol officers that were promised to the community.

Unfortunately these folks are probably in the majority but are afraid of the more silent minority.
It was black preachers that convinced Reagan to increase punishment for Crack laws. Those same preachers disappeared when it turned out harsher punishments didn't detour junkies and folks were calling Reagan racist for the law.
W. tried to speak to these same groups. The stable core of the black community but they were silent when Katina hit and everyone was calling W a racist.
The black community is not a monolith and the stable ones are easily cowed by social pressure.

(IraqiNews.com) Karbala – ISIS has claimed a suicide bombing that killed at least 18 people and injured 16 others at a wedding on Sunday near Karbala, south of Baghdad
“Five suicide bombers attacked a wedding party in the Husseini neighborhood of the Ain Tamr district. Two of them blew themselves up, killing 18 people. Three other suicide bombers blew themselves up earlier,” said Iraqi security officials.

It is worthy to be mention here that Ain Tamr district of Karbala contains important Shia shrines and attracts many pilgrims.
A statement published by ISIS media wing Al Amaq said that the attack was carried out by four of its suicide fighters against a ‘gathering of Shi’ites.’
It may be mentioned here that initial reports in local media, citing security sources, blamed the killings on a dispute between two tribes at the wedding party.

[TRIBUNE.PK] A breakaway faction of the Afghan Taliban is struggling to survive due to the uncertain fate of its chief, Mullah Muhammad Rasool.
Rasool was tossed in the calaboose Keep yer hands where we can see 'em, if yez please! in Pakistain after he fled infighting in the southern and western parts of Afghanistan, in March this year.
Mullah Abdul Rahman Niazi, a front man for the rebel group, confirmed last week that Rasool had been missing. Niazi, who now lives somewhere near Kabul ...the capital of Afghanistan. Home to continuous fighting from 1992 to 1996 between the forces of would-be strongman and Pak ISI/Jamaat-e-Islami sock puppet Gulbuddin Hekmayar and the Northern Alliance, a period which won Hek the title Most Evil Man in the World and didn't do much for the reputations of the Northern Alliance guys either.... and is accessible to the Afghan media, had earlier denied such reports.
Pajhwok news agency had quoted Niazi as saying that his splinter group has appointed Mullah Abdul Rauf Arif as the new chief last week. However, there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened... Niazi later dismissed the report as false.
Arif, a former governor of Khost, is among the few Taliban, who have not yet declared allegiance to Haibatullah. Another leader, who is known by the name of Ghazi, is also associated with the breakaway faction, a Taliban leader says. He is of the view that the remaining dissident leaders are reluctant to declare support for Haibatullah.
Taliban loyal to Haibatullah claim that the Afghan security establishment fully supports the rebel group, a charge the dissidents deny.
The rebel group faced a major blow this month when its deputy Maulvi Baz Muhammad quit and declared allegiance to Haibatullah. He was one of the few prominent dissident leaders who had refused to support Mullah Akhtar Mansoor until his death in May and Habiatullah.
In a series of interviews, Niazi claimed that former deputy foreign minister Mullah Abdul Jalil and Anwarul Haq Mujahid, son of senior former Mujahideen leader Maulvi Younas Khalis, are part of the dissidents. However, there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened... both had rejected Niazi’s claims. Jalil had supported Mansoor days before he was killed in a US drone strike.
The anti-Haibatullah Taliban faced another setback when the father and brother of Mansoor Dadullah declared support for Haibatullah that ended another breakaway faction ‐ the Dadullah Mahaz (Front). Dadullah led the group until his death in late November last year, when fighters loyal to Mansoor attacked him in Zabul.
A section of the media had reported this month that the Dadullah had appointed Mullah Emdadullah Mansoor, nephew of Mansoor Dadullah, as the new leader of the faction. However, there is a theory which states that if ever anybody discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened... the group’s front man, Rehbarmal told The Express Tribune that he does not know Emadullah and that now the father, brother and family of Mansoor Dadullah support Haibatullah.
Another Taliban leader said Emadullah is not the nephew of Mansoor Dadullah.
Haji Abdullah, father of Mansoor Dadullah and his son, Mullah Ehsan, said in a video message said their family supports Haibatullah and that they have no relations with any other group and all claims are baseless.

[ALMASDARNEWS] After ISIS-affiliated Jund Al-Aqsa group supported by the FSA faction "Jaish Al-Nasr" captured a few villages and checkpoints on the outskirts of the Christian village of Mharda, local NDF units launched a counterattack capturing Buweida and the surrounding checkpoints.
Effectively, the aforementioned jihadists are now surrounded at Madagin village lying at the mercy of the assaulting government troops.
To rub salt onto the wounds of the terrorist-affiliated bully boys, Syrian and Russian warplanes have unleashed an incessant bombing campaign on their positions in the vicinity of Morek and Lataminah targeting their supply lines, fortifications, and armored vehicles.
It is most likely that this surprise offensive was aimed at lifting the pressure off the kill zone of southwest Aleppo where high-ranking Jaish Al-Fateh commanders are being killed on a daily basis. Therefore, it is unlikely that the Islamists are going to maintain their positions for long in the relatively static front line of northern Hama.

[TASNIMNEWS] Soddy Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face... is exacerbating Leb's political deadlock by rejecting the nomination of Michel Aoun ...a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hizbullah... for president, said the deputy head of Hezbollah's executive council, Sheikh Nabil Qaouk, on Monday.
"It's (Saudi Arabia's) position that rejects the candidacy of [Change and Reform bloc leader MP] Michel Aoun, and worsened the internal crisis that we're today experiencing through the Cabinet," Qaouk said during a memorial for a Hezbollah fighter in the Lebanese town of Tayr Filsey in the southern district of Tyre (Sour).
He attributed the absence of a president in Leb to Saudi Arabia's rejection of Aoun, a position which he said has negatively impacted all state institutions.

Too bad we couldn't leave the US presidency vacant for a couple of years.
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Hillary Clinton ... sometimes described as The Liberatress of Libya and at other times as Mrs. Bill, never as Another Henry L. Stimson ... 's decision to use BleachBit to scrub her private email server could have been based on the fact that the free software can be downloaded and used with complete anonymity, the program's developer said.
Andrew Ziem, the creator of BleachBit, pointed to a recent CNN report about his software in which a computer security expert had speculated that Clinton's team would have selected a more expensive, more sophisticated service if it truly sought to conceal records.
"While there may be some merit to that, there is also an argument to be made for hoping that this doesn't leave a money trail," Ziem told the Washington Examiner.
Ziem said he was not aware Clinton had applied BleachBit to her server until Rep. Trey Gowdy said so on Fox News Thursday, because downloads of the program are anonymous and untraceable.
Gowdy said Clinton's emails had been so thoroughly scrubbed that "even God can't read them."
"It seems probable that the intent was to erase information," Ziem said of Clinton's use of BleachBit.
The open-source software can also be used to clear space on a computer with a cluttered memory, the BleachBit creator said.
But in a post on his website Saturday, Ziem noted the program is an effective way to delete emails beyond recovery short of the "physical destruction" of servers with "a hammer or blow torch."

Yeah. It would be totally embarrassing and political suicide should her email and wedding emails ever see the light of day.

This is further evidence of extreme carelessness. You download a program like this from the internet and you have no idea what you are getting. You have no guarantees that it will be safe or effective. For all Hildebeest knew, this program was uploading all of her emails directly to the Kremlin.

Sure. Knowing her costs and if she has been drinking can get you a better deal, or if you just want information it can be downloaded for free, or if you are in a bidding war you can make sure you bet the minimum to win, and can call bluffs with certainty.
Imagine being in the room with her when she realized she was played in the uranium sale to Russia. Probably have to mop the floor and repaint the walls.
I'm sure the clients are a bit nervous too, and how could they ever trust business with this technotroglodyte, wondering if your Ashley Madison gets found in the Panama Papers?
[ZEROHEDGE] Things are turning increasingly sour for the US, which is barely able to keep track of which feuding factions it supports in the escalating Syrian war.
Recall that over the weekend we reported how "Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden The former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body... Was Humiliated In Turkish "Appeasement" As Erdogan Bombs US Allies In Syria." Concerned by The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire.... 's recent overtures toward Russia, which even hinted at military cooperation between Moscow and Ankara, Biden arrived in Turkey last Wednesday, just as Turkey sent tanks into northern Syria, with nothing but appeasement for the Turkish president whose unprecedented crackdown on human rights One man's rights are another man's existential threat. has left over 100,000 Turks placed in durance vile Yez got nuttin' on me, coppers! Nuttin'! , terminated, or otherwise "purged" without anything more than an occasional verbal rebuke by the western "democratic" powers.
Meeting with Erdogan and Turkey's prime minister in Ankara, Biden delivered a message of alliance and conciliation: "Let me say it for one last time: The American people stand with you ... Barack Obama Ready to Rule from Day One... was one of the first people you called. But I do apologize. I wish I could have been here earlier," Biden said.
That is all Erdogan needed to hear as he then proceeded to launch a bombing campaign not against Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems.... holdouts in proximity to the Turkish border - the stated reason for the Turkish incursion - but against his legacy foes, the Kurdish militia, the YPG, which problematically for the US, is part of the broader U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) coalition.
So, less than a week after Biden's attempt to appease Erdogan, earlier today US Slams Turkish Bombing Of American Coalition Partners As "Unacceptable And A Source Of Deep Concern"the United States, now finding itself in the paradoxical position of directly supporting two warring factions, criticized festivities between Turkish forces and some opposition groups in northern Syria as "unacceptable," calling on all armed actors in the fighting to stand down and focus on battling ISIS.

Have the nukes been moved out of Incirlik yet? Reports saying they were moved to Romania (or some such) weren't positively confirmed.

Meanwhile, some 50% of this country continue to support Hillary. Are you fucking kidding me? Why aren't there more passionate pleas to loving this country? Why do we continue to allow the Dems (and the National Review Online, and the "never Trump") to claim that they love this country without STRONG outrage at such a BULLSHIT claim?

"one last time?" That sounds like another useless, feckless, neutered line in the sand. Anyway, it doesn't seem that Ergodan really gave a flip what Obean or Biden said. I suggest moving the nukes out of Turkey to a safer location if they haven't yet.

Reports from Kunduz indicate that the Taliban has inched its way forward and are closer to security force outposts, but that military operations have not yet started to clear the area of insurgents.
TOLOnews reporter Wali Aryan said he has talked with Afghan soldiers and that they have said further delays in conducting military operations on the outskirts of Kunduz city will create greater threats to that part of the province.
This comes come after security forces kicked off a large-scale military operation to secure and reopen the Takhar-Kunduz highway.
[USATODAY] A suspected Russian hacker probed a voter registration database in Arizona and another unidentified attacker gained entry to one in Illinois this summer, the FBI said, prompting the agency to warn states election boards should conduct vulnerability scans.
No actual voting election systems were seriously compromised, officials said.
Systems taken offline
Election officials in both states confirmed they took their voter registration databases offline briefly last month as they became aware of attempted breaches to their systems.
Matt Roberts, a spokesman for the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office, said state authorities were notified last month by the FBI of the suspected hack, when it was discovered the username and password of a county election official were being circulated online.

I guess you can say that since the systems aren't really being used right now.

...but, but the media won't have their breathless instantaneous results show (and three ring circus). Considering the Electoral College won't meet till December, yeah, lets do the paper thingy.
And what is a voter registration database doing online anyway? Put that server behind a firewall and off the internet where only authorized personnel have access to it.

The push by Democrat politicians to go to electronic voting by using software/hardware companies that were cronies was always a subtext even before the last 8 years. They knew that massive voter fraud was always difficult to cover outside of the the infested inner city precincts. But.....electronic voter fraud is the ideal Stalinesque solution, its the whole idea of being able to set the counter through an algorithm that chooses the number of votes for their candidate at the point of initial count. Then every audit is spotless, and they decide everytime who wins.....It's just now they discovered they didn't count on a foreign power with high order skills to use their system for a candidate other than their own!
Paper ballots must remain the only method of voting. Its much much harder to cheat on a large scale when the old biddies at each polling place are watching....
[Rappler] At least 12 Philippine soldiers were killed while five others were injured in a clash with the Abu Sayyaf in Patikul, Sulu.
A police report showed that two battalions conducting pursuit operations against the Abu Sayyaf Monday evening were attacked by local terrorists under the command of Abu Sayyaf leader Radullan Sahiron.
A military source said 12 soldiers were reported killed. A separate report by the police confirmed the casualties, adding that the encounter in Sitio Kan Jalul, Maligay, Patikul town continued.
Already, more than 20 Abu Sayyaf fighters have been killed since Thursday when the military launched an air-and-ground offensive in Patikul, an Abu Sayyaf stronghold, after newly-elected Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, who started his six-year term on June 30, ordered troops to "destroy" the group.

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] The provincial police chief of southeastern Ghazni province General Aminullah Amarkhel has reportedly stepped down from his post.
Gen. Amar Khel is among the prominent security officials of the country and has reportedly resigned from his post due to the lack of support by the central government.
Confirming his resignation to 1TV News, Gen. Amar Khel said he has taken the decision due to injustice and recklessness by the central government, accusing the government officials for remaining reckless to support the security forces in this province.
Gen. Amarkhel further added even a single security officer or service member has not been hailed during the independence day despite the province remains as one of the most volatile in southeastern Afghanistan.
According to Gen. Amarkhel, the Ministry of Interior has returned back to him regarding his resignation letter and it is yet not clear if his resignation has been approved or not.

The Kremlin uses both conventional media -- Sputnik, a news agency, and RT, a television outlet -- and covert channels, as in Sweden, that are almost always untraceable.
Russia exploits both approaches in a comprehensive assault, Wilhelm Unge, a spokesman for the Swedish Security Service, said this year when presenting the agency’s annual report. "We mean everything from internet trolls to propaganda and misinformation spread by media companies like RT and Sputnik," he said. Trolls? Those bad, bad Russians are using Trolls? Imagine that.
This is a long New York Times article. Much more at link.

So the NYT just figured out the Russians are good at agitprop, eh? Must have slept through the last half of the 20th century.
#2
The NYT bent over for Stalin in the 1930's - Walter Duranty, anyone? The Russians have this shit down cold, and the NYT have always been willing dupes, then and now.

So what? Is the Time jealous that someone else is using their approach to disseminating propaganda? At least the Russians don't engage in burying bad news about certain prominent Americans.
