Indian man arrested after eating sloth bear genitalia to boost sex drive: police
[FOX] An Indian man was arrested Saturday after police allege that he cut off and ate sloth bear genitalia in an effort to boost his sex drive.

The man, only identified as "Yarlen," was taken into custody in the western state of Gujarat after being on the run for years, authorities said.

"We created a special cell to track him down and arrest him," Ritesh Sirothia, of the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department, told the BBC. "It was our longest chase, it went on for six years."

Investigators first thought something was amiss when they were notified of sloth bear carcasses — without their genitals — in Kanha National Park.

Officials say Yarlen is part of the nomadic Pardhi-Behelia tribe, which typically lives in forests and hunts to survive, and reportedly believes animal penises serve as an aphrodisiac.
Eat a bag o' dicks
In 2013, Yarlen was first arrested after two south bears were discovered without genitals and without gall bladders. He spent a year in jail before being released in 2014, when he made bail and fled.

Meth driving overdose deaths in West, fentanyl still nation's top killer
[FOX] While fentanyl and heroin are still driving overdose deaths in the U.S., meth has emerged as one of the nation’s top culprits. In data compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), methamphetamine ranked fourth in drugs involved in fatal overdoses nationwide, but in several regions meth was the number one killer.

According to the report, fentanyl was involved in 39 percent of the 70,000 overdose deaths that occurred in 2017, while heroin accounted for 23 percent and cocaine 21 percent. Methamphetamine accounted for 13 percent, but in western regions, that number jumped to 38 percent.

The report, which was compiled using overdose death certificates, found that while fentanyl had a strong prevalence in deaths that occurred in New England, meth lagged behind at number 10, but it was nearly the opposite out West.

#1  Obviously there are problems with these substances. BUT...

Personally, I've decided that any time someone wants to ban something they instantly lose my attention. Goes for lightbulbs, drugs, dishwashers that use electricity and actually clean dishes, powdered alcohol, whatever. It's never a solution to anything. Just cheap window dressing. Regulate if you must, but if all you can think of is a ban then you're simply out of ideas.

#3  Until they die, they are probably part of the liberal 'revolution' against everything good. If youth can be kept away from mind-numbing chemicals, it could become possible to make them bearable if not productive members of society.

Also, I'll bet more than half of the sexual assaults on small children, rage murders and petty crimes can be attributed to elements that are users.

But of course, it can't be stopped anymore. We can just control the quantity of traffic and dealers, on the good days. Keeping people away from drugs is more of a job for family than State really. The churches are a disappointment, so are schools. Hollywood would come and give you blow for free if it could. The only thing that can fight this is family and self worth.

And vice-versa.

HR-3 Drug price bill renamed for Elijah Cummings
WASHINGTON (Nexstar) ‐ The House of Representatives renamed a bill that would lower the price of prescription drugs in honor of Elijah Cummings, the Maryland Democrat who died last week at the age of 68.

California Rep. Karen Bass said HR-3 was officially renamed the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act. "He fought for everyone to have health care and medications that are affordable," she said.

Steven Horsford, a Democrat from Nevada, said it’s "a comprehensive bill that will allow Medicare to directly negotiate for lower priced drugs."

The Congressional Budget Office estimates negotiating prices could save the government $345 billion in a 6-year time period.

"We are going to invest those savings into innovation and new cures as well as expanding benefits under Medicare including dental, hearing and vision," Horsford said.

Turkey's Erdogan sues French magazine over 'eradicator' cover
[Aljazeera] Le Point accuses the Turkish president of ethnic cleansing in northeastern Syria.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has filed a criminal complaint against a French magazine after it accused him of conducting "ethnic cleansing" in northeastern Syria in a cover story entitled "The Eradicator".

State-owned Anadolu Agency said on Friday that Erdogan had asked prosecutors to open a case against Etienne Gernelle, the managing editor of Le Point magazine, and Romain Gubert, the author of the story.

Erdogan's lawyer Huseyin Aydin said the cover was "publicly insulting" to the president - a crime in Turkey carrying a prison sentence up to four years and eight months.

A source in the Ankara public prosecutor's office told AFP news agency that an investigation had been launched after the complaint.

Le Point's cover uses a photo of Erdogan giving a military salute with a tagline reading: "Ethnic cleansing, Erdogan style" and another asking "Will we let him massacre Kurds (and threaten Europe)?".

Impeachment just got more difficult
[American Thinker] Once again, cheers for Senator Lindsey Graham. I say "again" because Senator Graham was brilliant in his defense of Judge Brett Kavanaugh a year ago.

We just learned that Senator Graham has 40-plus fellow GOP Senators to support a resolution against the current "impeachment" process in the U.S. House.
50 signed now
This is how the senator explained it:
"They’re creating a shadow process that, I think, is just denying basic fairness. And we’re urging them to go back to what worked before," Graham said.
The resolution is just a statement and nothing more. It won't get the 60 votes to make it to a floor vote.

Nevertheless, it makes it clear that getting 20 GOP Senators to flip on President Trump will be very difficult, if not impossible.

Yes, the resolution is nonbinding but it shows that the Democrats will need a better case to persuade GOP Senators to convict and reverse a presidential election.

Let the voters decide this next year! I guess that's what Democrats must really be scared of.

Britain
The closing of the conservative mind: Politics and the art of war
h/t Instapundit
Very long. Very well thought out. Some excerpts

[NewStatesman] ...No discussion in polite society of the state of politics is complete without a reverential genuflection to the 18th-century parliamentarian. Get rid of Cummings and Boris Johnson, along with the right-wing libertarians in the cabinet, recover Burkean moderation, and all will be well.

It is a familiar narrative in the opinion-forming classes, and all the more appealing for being baseless. The notion that Conservatives have ceased to be conservative ignores transformations in other parts of the political spectrum. Labour has also abandoned any small-c conservative disposition and become a vehicle for anti-Semitism and a version of Marxism that deems working-class values of place and community racist when they are expressed as concern about continuing mass immigration. The Liberal Democrats have become hyper-liberals, making the nullification of a clear democratic mandate their signature policy. Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party is not simply a right-wing splinter movement but a response to a state of affairs in which large sections of the population are unrepresented. Rather than being the creation of Boris Johnson and a fanatical Eurosceptic minority, Tory populism is a sign of the Conservative Party reinventing itself ‐ as it has done many times before ‐ in order to survive.

...But there is something more powerful here than mere snobbery: the belief that politics can be governed by formulas derived from some large theory. In the past, such theories were derived from Marxism and positivism, utilitarianism and Fabianism, among other ideologies. Today they emanate from the prevailing variety of rights-based liberalism promoted by philosophers such as John Rawls and Ronald Dworkin. The key feature of this liberalism is that it transfers decision-making from political to judicial institutions. Liberals are turning to law to entrench values and policies for which they cannot secure democratic assent.

...The haute-Remainer mind is an example of what the 20th century’s subtlest and most original conservative philosopher called political rationalism. Michael Oakeshott (1901-90) used the term to describe totalitarian ideologies such as Leninism and National Socialism, but he was clear that any kind of political tradition could succumb to rationalist ideology ‐ including conservatism.

...The core of rationalism in politics is an idea of politics itself. Rather than being a practice in which people negotiate the terms on which they co-exist with one another, politics means the imposition of an idea. The idea is self-evidently true; anyone who questions it is ignorant and stupid, or else wilfully malignant.

...Today the tacit understanding of liberals in all parties is that the world would be far more civilised if the grubby business of politics was replaced by the legal adjudication of justice and rights. The evidence for this view is ‐ shall we say ‐ patchy. In the US, Donald Trump’s capture of the White House enabled him to begin reshaping the judicial system, including the Supreme Court. When political issues become the province of courts, the law is politicised. At the same time, because so many are unrepresented and the void left by liberal legalism must somehow be filled, politics becomes more polarised and vicious.

...The technologists of power are today’s true rationalists. That superior intelligence is found among the practitioners of populism is a fact of our time. When liberals talk about reason they mean a mishmash of ideas they picked up at university. Scraps of Rawls, Dworkin and Thomas Piketty, together with a smattering of modish conspiracy theories, form the folk wisdom of the thinking classes. Rationality means deferring to this ragbag of ephemera and ignoring enduring truths about the deciding forces in politics.

...The Remainer elite has been guided by the ruling philosophy of liberal legalism, which is essentially anti-political. But sooner or later, politics is bound to assert its primacy over legal and procedural manoeuvres.

High cholesterol associated with longer life
[American Thinker] Highly educated "experts" rule today's advanced societies, but their advice on how the rest of us should live ‐ often enforced by government coercion ‐ is increasingly exposed as premature at best and mistaken, incomplete, ignorant, or fraudulent at worst.

Yet another bit of diet advice from "experts" is turning out to be an exploding cigar. High cholesterol, particularly LDL cholesterol, has been demonized for allegedly bringing on heart attack deaths. But an intriguing analysis of data published at Medium.com seems to show that total mortality risk is reduced by high cholesterol levels, even LDL cholesterol. As author P.D. Mangan writes:

[F]rom a public health standpoint, it seems a mistake to focus on changing something that lowers the risk of death from one cause only to raise that risk from another.

Here is one of the key charts showing that people with high cholesterol levels live longer than those with low levels. This one is from Japan:

Amnesty says Turkey deporting Syrians to planned 'safe zone' region
[AlAhram] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire...
is forcibly sending Syrian refugees to an area of Syria near the border where it aims to set up a "safe zone" even though the conflict there has not ended, Amnesia Amnesty International said in a report published on Friday.

Human Rights Watch said in a separate report Friday that authorities had arbitrarily detained and deported dozens of Syrians to northern Syria between January and September.

Turkey currently hosts some 3.6 million refugees who fled Syria's eight-year-long civil war. But, with Ottoman Turkish public sentiment towards them souring, Ankara hopes to resettle up to two million in the planned safe zone in northeast Syria.

Ankara says more than 350,000 Syrian refugees have already voluntarily returned to their country.

In its report, Amnesty said refugees it had spoken to complained of being threatened or physically forced by Ottoman Turkish police to sign documents stating that they were voluntarily returning to Syria.

"In reality, Turkey put the lives of Syrian refugees under serious danger by forcing them to return to a war zone," the British-based human rights
...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless...
group said.

Amnesty said it believed the number of forced returns in recent months to be in the hundreds, based on interviews it conducted between July and October, but said it was able to confirm 20 cases.

There was no immediate reaction from Ankara to the Amnesty report but it has previously denied sending any Syrians home against their will.

Syrians who are deported are generally told they are not registered or live outside the Ottoman Turkish province in which they are registered, the report said, adding that people were also deported from provinces in which they had been registered.

Anna Shea, Amnesty's Researcher on Refugee and Migrant Rights, said Turkey deserved recognition for hosting so many Syrians over many years, adding: "But it cannot use this generosity as an excuse to flout international and domestic law by deporting people to an active conflict zone."

A plan agreed between Turkey and Russia this week envisages Syrian Kurdish YPG fighters being removed from a 30 km (19 mile) strip of territory along the Ottoman Turkish border and refugees being allowed to return there "in a safe and voluntary manner".

Addressing world leaders at the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
in September, President Tayyip Erdogan set out ambitious proposals to build dozens of new villages and towns in the planned safe zone along the Ottoman Turkish border.

Pro-government newspaper Yeni Safak said on Friday that life would "normalise" in the Syrian border towns of Tel Abyad and Ras Al Ain, now that Turkey has taken control of the area from the YPG.

It said Turkey would reconstruct the two towns ravaged by years of war, establish security forces and a judiciary there and work to bring economic stability to the region.

Hillary Clinton Likens Elijah Cummings To The Prophet Elijah At Late Congressman's Funeral
[Daily Caller] Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton likened former Democratic Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings to the Old Testament prophet Elijah during the late congressman’s Friday funeral service in Baltimore.

Clinton noted that it "is no coincidence" that Cummings and the prophet’s name means "the lord is my God," in Hebrew.

He "used the power and the wisdom that God gave him to uphold the moral law that all people are subject to because of all people are equal," she continued.
He was a partisan hack that abused power for greed (see: "Wife"), corruption, and didn't do jack shit for his shithole district.
"Like the prophet, our Elijah could call down fire from Heaven, but he also prayed and worked for healing. He weathered storms and earthquakes but never lost his faith. Like that Old Testament prophet, he stood against corrupt leadership of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel." (RELATED: President Trump Honors Elijah Cummings)

"He looked out for the vulnerable among us. He lifted up the next generation of leaders. He even worked a few miracles," Clinton added. "He kept reminding us, life is no dress rehearsal. The American people want to live their lives without fear of their leaders, and as leaders, we have a responsibility to keep the promises made when running for office to make the lives of Americans better."

19 Recent Cases of Polio in Afghanistan: Health Officials
[ToloNews] Officials from the World Health Organization, Save the Children and the Afghan Ministry of Public Health on Thursday reported at least 19 new polio
...Poliomyelitis is a disease caused by infection with the poliovirus. Between 1840 and the 1950s, polio was a worldwide epidemic. Since the development of polio vaccines the disease has been largely wiped out in the civilized world. However, since the vaccine is known to make Moslem pee-pees shrink and renders females sterile, bookish, and unsubmissive it is not widely used by the turban and automatic weapons set. Currently the disease is only found in Pakistain and Afghanistain...
incidents in the country over the past ten months.

All cases were reported in the eastern and southern regions of the country, said the officials.

According to the World Health Organization, Afghanistan and Pakistain are among the two nations where the polio virus is still threatening the lives of children.

"I want to emphasize that everybody has a role to play in eradicating polio. In this regard, I want to speak directly to Afghan mothers and fathers about the importance of vaccinating their children against polio," said Lawrence Chabirand, the Deputy Polio Team Lead for UNICEF.

Najma, 21, is a physiotherapist who became the victim of polio when she was a child.

"I suffered a heavy polio fever. During that time there was war and there were no health services for the public," said Najma Hajjizada, a Polio victim.

GEOGRAPHICAL BREAKDOWN OF CASES:
8 incidents in Uruzgan
5 cases in Helmand
...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan...
3 cases in Kandahar
1 case in Paktika
...which coincidentally borders South Wazoo...
1 case in Kunar
1 case in Nangarhar
The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country..

According to the Afghan and international health officials, security threats and the migration of Afghans between Afghanistan and the Pakistain, are among the key factors providing obstacles to the complete eradication of the virus.

"75 cases of polio have been recorded in Pakistain, with most of the incidents in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to the Afghan Ministry of Public Health, the Afghan government spent $8.5 million in a polio vaccination campaign last month, however, violence has been preventing the complete eradication of the virus.

Trump Administration Banning U.S. Flights to All Cuban Cities Bar Havana
[Time] The Trump administration is banning U.S. flights to all Cuban cities but Havana in the latest move to roll back the Obama-era easing of relations, two people briefed on the matter said Friday. The people said the Transportation Department would announce that JetBlue and American Airlines flights to Santa Clara in central Cuba and Holguin and Camaguey in the island’s east would be banned starting in December.

Flights to Havana, which account for the great majority of U.S. flights to Cuba, will remain legal. Other banned destinations like the beach resort of Varadero do not currently have U.S. carriers serving them.

The stated reason for the move is to prevent tourism to Cuba, which is banned by U.S. law. But it is not clear how many people take the flights for tourism purposes. Many are used by Cuban-Americans visiting relatives in cities far from Havana by road.

"We plan to operate in full compliance with the new policy concerning scheduled air service between the U.S. and Cuba," JetBlue said in a written statement. "We are beginning to work with our various government and commercial partners to understand the full impact of this change on our customers and operations in Camaguey, Holguin and Santa Clara."

Marcellus Fracking Means Farewell to Dems in 2020
[American Thinker] With Quid Pro Joe Biden's confession to using U.S. resources to pressure a foreign government to benefit his son, maybe in the next Democrat debate, one of the questions will be why, if fossil fuels are evil, the Democrats are committed to ending their use, and we have a decade or so to live before we freeze our hoohahs to death, it was okay for Hunter Biden to sit on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian natural gas holding company. Seems Hunter had his very own greenback new deal.

As President Trump's speech at the Shale Insight Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Wednesday noted, Joe Biden's mythical claim that Trump inherited a booming economy from President Obama falls flat in the face of the reality that this is Trump's economy, fueled by deregulation, tax cuts, cutting of EPA shackles, and a booming energy industry allowed to use the latest technology to free a seemingly endless supply of oil and natural gas from the earth under our feet. The conference was staged by some very appreciative energy groups such as the Marcellus Shale Coalition, the Ohio Oil and Gas Association, and the West Virginia Oil and Natural Gas Association.

This energy abundance has put downward pressure on energy costs for consumers and industry and made us energy independent and immune from Middle East instability, quite possibly preventing a global oil recession or major war with the likes of a belligerent and aggressive Iran.

While noting that he has opened up ANWR in Alaska for exploration and development, exited the job-killing and economy-choking Paris Climate Accord, and green-lighted the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, Trump pointed out the economic benefits shale development in general and the Marcellus shale formation stretching beneath Pennsylvania in particular as most significant, noting that the Dems have promised to ban fracking of shale rock to release the vast quantities of oil and natural gas within. Trump warned that the Democrats want to take away our energy as well as our guns and that the current prosperity spawned by shale and facking could end. As noted by David Lenery at The Center Square:

Nangarhar: jacket wallah kabooms 26 in Jalalabad, 37 Daesh and 6 Talibs surrender

Three NDS Members, Two Civilians Killed in Suicide Attack

[ToloNews] 21 people, including 15 civilians, were wounded in the Nangarhar blast.

At least two civilians—one of whom was a child--and three National Directorate of Security members were killed in a suicide attack on an NDS forces’ convoy in Jalalabad, a spokesman for the provincial governor, Attaullah Khogyani confirmed.

The attack took place at approximately 2 pm in Jalalabad’s PD4 area after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives close to a convoy of the NDS, Khogyani said.

“The target of the bomber was an NDS group known as the “02 Unit,” and the victims have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” according to the spokesperson, who specified that “one child was among the dead, and six other children are among the wounded.”

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

“Daesh,” Taliban Fighters Surrender to Afghan Troops in Nangarhar

[ToloNews] Local officials claim that two groups of fighters—one “Daesh” and the other Taliban--have surrendered to Afghan government forces in Nangarhar.

18 male and 19 female “Daesh members,” and six members of the Taliban, were among those who surrendered, said Shah Mahmoud Miakhel, the governor of Nangarhar province.

“Six Taliban members surrendered along with 18 (male) Daesh members, most of whom were Afghans. Three of these fighters were foreign nationals. And 19 women were also foreigners. One of the women is from Punjab. There are 35 children with them,” said Miakhel.

Meanwhile, Nazar Ali Wahidi, commander of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Nangarhar, said that the surrender comes amid a surge of ground and air operations against the militants.

“Our operations and air raids forced them to evacuate Pachiragam, Tangi Chapar, Tanga Wazir, Tanga Sulaimankhel, Bagh Dara, and Momand,” he said.

Neither the Taliban nor Daesh have commented.

U.S. Ambassador to E.U. ‘Does NOT Recall' a Conversation to Cutoff Aid to Ukraine
[Legal Insurrection] Acting US Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor told Congress that US Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland knew President Donald Trump threatened to cutoff aid to Ukraine if the government did not investigate former Vice President Joe Biden.

Taylor also claimed Sondland passed the threat to the Ukrainian government.

However, Sondland’s attorney Robert Luskin said his client does not recall any conversation about cutting off Ukraine.

Sondland told Congress he did not know of the quid pro quo the Democrats have used as their main point to impeach Trump. He admitted he knew Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani secured a visit from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House. He "did not know whether the White House had also made security assistance contingent on Zelensky’s committing to launch the probes."

Once Sondland heard "that security assistance may be tied to the investigations, he paused and called Trump on Sept. 9."

-Lurid Crime Tales-
Who will be the first to flip in spygate criminal investigation?
[Legal Insurrection] It was clear after the release of the Mueller Report that Attorney General William Barr was determined to get to the bottom of the spying on Trump and his campaign.

Because of that expressed determination, Barr became a public enemy. On May 2, 2019, I wrote, Bill Barr is going to expose Spygate, and the Democrat-Media Russia Collusion Complex is panicking:
It was Barr’s comments about spying on the Trump campaign, and his pledge to investigate that spying, that explains the frenzy to take down Barr. That spying, regardless of whether lawful, has the potential to be a scandal that could touch deep into the Obama administration, and some former officials who loom large in the anti-Trump resistance.

It also could reach deep into the media, with the involvement of Fusion GPS in feeding Russian-provided, Clinton/DNC paid-for, disinformation to the mainstream journalist community.

So the stakes are huge. The Russian collusion scandal may be a Democrat and media scandal. People may go to jail for that collusion, and if so, they may be the first people to go to jail over Russian collusion involving the 2016 election.

Barr is the single greatest threat to the Democrat-Media Russia Collusion Complex. That’s why Democrats, with help from the mainstream media, will spare no effort to tarnish Barr as a way of discrediting the investigative train that is rolling down the tracks.

When Barr appointed John Durham to handle the investigation, later in May, the finger-pointing among those involved in investigating Trump started, leading to the the pressing question was Who’s going to cut a deal first in Spygate?

WSJ Columnist Reveals The Move Adam Schiff Made That Made A GOP Congresswoman's Jaw Drop
[Townhall] It’s a circus. House Democrats are charging headlong into this impeachment business against President Donald Trump, a shamelessly naked political spectacle in which they’re trying to overturn the results of the 2016 election. They tried to get him on Russian collusion. They couldn’t. Now, they’re using this whistleblower report that alleged in a July phone call that Trump threatened to withhold military aid from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky unless he opened a corruption probe into Hunter Biden. The son of the former vice president was on the board of an energy company making $50,000/month while his father, Joe Biden, was in office. Hunter has zero experience in the energy sector. It was a gross conflict of interest issue, and the allegation that he was just there to sell access to the higher echelons of America’s political class hasn’t really been dispelled.

The whistleblower is a registered Democrat, a reported CIA agent, and someone who had worked with a 2020 Democratic candidate. They were also on the National Security Council staff for the Obama White House. This person does not have first-hand knowledge of wrongdoing. It’s all second-hand sourced, which explains the numerous errors. Adam Schiff’s staff was in contact with this person, and Schiff knew of the contents of the report before it was formally filed. Yeah, this isn’t a biased political hit job in the slightest, right? The Trump White House released a transcript of the Trump-Zelensky phone call, which petty much torpedoed the juicy allegations lobbed by Democrats, but that’s not going to stop this impeachment push. This whole effort is mostly being done behind closed doors. The impeachment of a president is very much a public affair. That’s precisely what the Democrats don’t want.

The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel has a new book about the anti-Trump Deep State, but her Potomac Watch column this week detailed the absurd rule High Chancellor of Impeachment Adam Schiff has instituted that made Rep. Elise Stefanik's (R-NY) jaw drop; Stefanik sits on the House Intelligence Committee.

It’s pretty simple. Democrats will summarize all of the interviews conducted relating to this unofficial Trump impeachment into one page‐which can only be read with a Democratic staffer present. Schiff, whom Strassel calls "Lord High Impeacher," is withholding documents as well. It’s all part of the larger scheme: controlling the narrative. Strassel notes how Democrats learned from their lessons regarding Trump-Russia collusion, and how the various open hearings embarrassed them and tore huge holes into the narrative because it was trash to begin with. They’re not making the same mistake twice; optics be damned (via WSJ):

[Townhall] Liberals are blaming California's wildfires on "climate change." Apparently, climate change now causes wildfires, but only in the state of California. But climate change hasn't turned California into a tinderbox, the environmentalists have.

California power company PG&E is preparing to pull the plug on 850,000 of its customers. PG&E has been deliberately cutting power to its customers in an effort to avoid wildfires. It isn't working. Massive wildfires erupted in areas where PG&E provides service. The Tick Fire has burned down several homes and caused the evacuation of more than 40,000 people so far, and other wildfires are burning throughout the state. In Sonoma County, the Kincade Fire has already torched 34 square miles and destroyed 49 homes. That fire was likely caused by a broken transmission line belonging to PG&E.

But PG&E's equipment couldn't start these huge wildfires without a bunch of dead brush fueling the flames. As Chuck Devore writes in Forbes, "the outrageous cost to remove a few dead trees from private land is a consequence of California's Byzantine environmental regulatory patchwork." It's not climate change that's responsible for these massive fires, "it's decades of environmental mismanagement that has created a tinderbox of unharvested timber, dead trees, and thick underbrush."

Dementia: New Alzheimer's drug 'could slow rate at which disease progresses'
[BBC] Scientists believe they could be on the cusp of a breakthrough, after a drugs company said it had the first treatment of its kind for Alzheimer's.

The drug, which is called aducanumab, cannot cure it but Biogen says it slows down the rate at which it progresses, essentially meaning people stay more like themselves for longer.

This came as a surprise as the company had suspended the drug trial in March 2019 because of disappointing results.

But now a larger dataset has been analysed and Biogen says it shows that higher doses of aducanumab can provide a significant benefit to patients with early Alzheimer's.

The BBC has been to University College London to find out how the drug works.

#1  High-salt diet promotes cognitive impairment through the Alzheimer-linked protein tau

A high-salt diet may negatively affect cognitive function by causing a deficiency of the compound nitric oxide,

...

The research team determined that the high-salt diet was causing cells in the small intestine to release the molecule interleukin-17 (IL-17), which promotes inflammation as part of the body's immune response.

IL-17 then entered the bloodstream and prevented the cells in the walls of blood vessels feeding the brain from producing nitric oxide. This compound works by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, allowing blood to flow. Conversely, a shortage of nitric oxide can restrict blood flow.

Based on these findings, Dr. Iadecola, Dr. Faraco and their colleagues theorized that salt likely caused dementia in mice because it contributed to restricted blood flow to the brain, essentially starving it. However, as they continued their research, they realized that the restricted blood flow in mice was not severe enough to prevent the brain from functioning properly.

"We thought maybe there was something else going on here,'" Dr. Iadecola said. In their new Nature study, the investigators found that decreased nitric oxide production in blood vessels affects the stability of tau proteins in neurons. Tau provides structure for the scaffolding of neurons. This scaffolding, also called the cytoskeleton, helps to transport materials and nutrients across neurons to support their function and health.

"Tau becoming unstable and coming off the cytoskeleton causes trouble," Dr. Iadecola said, adding that tau is not supposed to be free in the cell. Once tau detaches from the cytoskeleton, the protein can accumulate in the brain, causing cognitive problems. The researchers determined that healthy levels of nitric oxide keep tau in check.

Kurdish force makes appeal after female fighter captured alive by Turkey-backed militia
[Rudaw] The Kurdish women’s gang in northern Syria issued an urgent plea for international help to save one of their fighters who was maimed and captured alive by Ottoman Turkish-backed Syrian militias that have been accused of committing war crimes.

"On October 21 at 21:00, the gangs of the Ottoman Turkish invading state attacked the village of Mishrafa in Ain al-Issa leading to a fight between our forces and the gangs. Cicek Kobane was injured in her leg and fell captive to the gangs of [Ottoman Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdogan," read a statement from the YPJ, the all-women branch of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in northeast Syria.

Video published on Telegram channels linked to the Syrian militias show a krazed killer carrying the captured Kurdish fighter. The bully boyz call her "pig" and say she will be taken to "slaughter."

The YPJ called on the international community to "urgently intervene" to save Cicek Kobane.

"We call on all the women of the world and international human rights

The video was made public at least 24 hours ago. The fate of Cicek Kobane remains unknown.

The Kurdish forces accused Turkey of violating the ceasefire. The YPJ said that Kobane was captured after the cessation of hostilities was supposed to be in force.

There is evidence of the Syrian militias desecrating the body of another female Kurdish fighter and killing a senior female politician and human rights advocate.

American officials have said these incidents could be war crimes.

Iraq
10,000 Syrians cross into Kurdistan Region fleeing Turkish offensive
[Rudaw] More than 10,000 refugees have now crossed into the Kurdistan Region of Iraq fleeing the Ottoman Turkish offensive in northeast Syria, according to the UN refugee agency UNHCR.

Many Syrian refugees have been moved to Bardarash camp in Duhok province, where local and international aid agencies are providing food and shelter.

"Many of our people and relatives are still there [in northeast Syria]," Aya Ibrahim, a mother of four, told Rudaw in the camp on Thursday. "We plead to countries and the United Nations
...a formerly good idea gone bad...
to assist Kurds, Arabs, and Assyrians. We are all one."

Assisting the fresh influx of refugees is not an easy task, says Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, the UN Secretary-General’s special representative for Iraq.

"For now we have people coming in high numbers. We are cooperating, the UN family in Iraq is closely cooperating with the KRG authorities, in this case with the Duhok authorities, to make sure we can offer tents, food and certain facilities to the people arriving here. This is our first priority, for people to come in and to give them shelter," she told Rudaw.

"Obviously, we are trying to look into possibilities for other camps and facilities. Not on our own, but together with authorities. But it is not easy, I can tell you."

Aiyn Faiz, a mother displaced from Darbasiyah, says although life in a tent is miserable, she is grateful her family is safe.

"We fled from Rojava along with my four little children. We fled explosions and conflict. We have only this tent but we are grateful. There is no fear here," she said.

The Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF), a local aid agency which supervises Bardarash camp, is expecting many more arrivals in the coming days and weeks, despite a shaky ceasefire agreement.

Botan Mohammed, a BCF aid worker, urged international organizations to extend assistance.

"We prepare hot food to give them three meals a day. We have provided heating oil. Whenever new groups of refugees arrive, we are here to give them [what they need]," he said.

It matters because of the timeline. The 302 was deceptively "edited" 2 weeks after its submission.

Sidney Powell Drops Bombshell Showing How The FBI Trapped Michael Flynn
A sealed statement from Strzok confirmed that the “agents did three briefings the day of the interview,” and that Strzok had reported that Flynn “had a sure demeanor, and he was telling the truth or believed he was—even though he did not remember it all.” This led the FBI and DOJ to then write “an internal memo dated January 30, 2017, exonerating Mr. Flynn of acting as an ‘agent of Russia’” and expressing no concern of a possible Logan Act violation.
Then the Switch on the 302

But then things change.

“On February 10, 2017, the news broke—attributed to ‘senior intelligence officials’—that Mr. Flynn had discussed sanctions with Ambassador Kislyak, contrary to what Vice President Pence had said on television previously.” Following this leak, “overnight,” Flynn’s 302 was changed—and substantively so. “Those changes added an unequivocal statement that ‘FLYNN stated he did not’—in response to whether Mr. Flynn had asked Kislyak to vote in a certain manner or slow down the UN vote.”

“This is a deceptive manipulation” Powell highlighted, “because, as the notes of the agents show, Mr. Flynn was not even sure he had spoken to Russia/Kislyak on this issue. He had talked to dozens of countries.” The overnight changes to the 302 also included the addition of a line, indicating Flynn had been question on whether “KISLYAK described any Russian response to a request by FLYNN.”

But the agent’s notes do not include that question or answer, Powell stressed, yet it was later made into the criminal offense charges against Flynn. And “the draft also shows that the agents moved a sentence to make it seem to be an answer to a question it was not,” Powell added.

Secret Fisa Court Finding Concludes Fbi Used Secret Foreign Surveillance Tool To Spy On Americans, Wall Street Journal Reports
[THE AMERICAN REPORT} Ten days after Assistant U.S. Attorney Deborah A. Curtis abruptly stepped down from her position as the lead attorney prosecuting former Trump national security adviser Lieutenant General Michael Flynn (Ret) and left the Department of Justice on September 27, 2019, The Wall Street Journal reported today that “some of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s electronic surveillance activities violated the constitutional privacy rights of Americans swept up in a controversial foreign intelligence program,” citing a secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court finding made last year.

CIA contractor-turned whistleblower Dennis Montgomery asserts that “THE HAMMER,” a super surveillance system he designed and built as a foreign surveillance tool to spy on terrorists and other foreign adversaries, was commandeered by John Brennan and James Clapper to unlawfully wiretap Michael Flynn and Donald Trump.

Brennan and Clapper also used “THE HAMMER” to unlawfully spy on Supreme Court justices, FISA court judges, other government officials, Montgomery contends.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Curtis, assisted by FBI Special Agents William Barnett and Walter Giardina, debriefed Montgomery inside of a Secure Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) at the FBI Washington DC Field Office on December 3, 2015 for three and a half hours, according to CIA/FBI contractor-turned-whistleblower Montgomery.

Montgomery asserts that during that debriefing he testified under oath before Curtis and FBI agents Barnett and Giardina, while being videotaped, that Brennan and Clapper had turned the foreign surveillance tool “THE HAMMER” against the Obama administration’s political enemies, including Michael Flynn and Donald Trump.

If Curtis was in receipt of the information that Montgomery asserts he provided to Curtis about illegal wiretaps on Flynn and Trump, that would be considered exculpatory evidence in the Flynn case. If Curtis did not turn over any and all information she received from Montgomery about wiretaps on Flynn, that would be considered a Brady violation.

As lead attorney for the prosecution, Curtis would be legally and ethically obligated to provide that information to Flynn’s defense team, led by attorney Sidney Powell.

It remains unclear whether the surveillance system referenced by The Wall Street Journal is the onetime foreign surveillance tool “THE HAMMER” that Montgomery says Brennan and Clapper had commandeered, or another surveillance program.

Montgomery asserts that Robert Mueller’s FBI provided computers for “THE HAMMER” and that surveillance data collected by “THE HAMMER” was transmitted to the FBI.

Former FBI General Counsel James Baker amended his own testimony before Members of Congress during a closed-door session last year, and admitted that the FBI received evidence from Montgomery that proves, according to Montgomery, that U.S. government officials unlawfully spied on Americans, including other government officials.

Hamas arrests dozens of activists in bid to deter Leb-style protests in Gaza
[Ynet] With eye on anti-government demonstrations in Leb and as calls for rally spread on social media, police units in Strip have focused round-ups on people affiliated with left-wing and centrist political factions, including PFLP and Fatah.

The activists arrested are affiliated with left and center political factions in Gaza, among them the Popular Front for the Liberation of Paleostine, the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Paleostine
... a breakaway faction of the Pöpular Frönt för the Liberation of Paleostine. The are regarded as the most intellectual of Paleostinian fedayeen groups, smoking cheap cigarettes and drawing heavily on Marxist-Leninist theory to explain their crappy lives. They can occasionally be seen strutting through the streets of Paleostine, dressed up like soldiers and lugging firearms, though they seldom manage to hit anything and then usually by accident. This may be because of their habit of wearing black masks that cut off most of their vision. That would also explain their habit of occasionally walking into walls, which is a well-known attribute of those immersed in true understanding of the dialectic...
and Fatah.

Calls for a protest on Thursday evening were voiced for the last few days on social media, promoted with the tagline "enough, we are tired!"

The focus of the protest organizers ‐ whose identity is still unknown ‐ was to promote a similar civil protest to the one that occurred in Gaza in March. That protest, focusing on the social and economic strife endured by Gazook citizens, was brutally put down by Hamas.

Paleostinian sources told Ynet that a feeling of fear hangs over the Gaza Strip due to the arrests, and it was very clear that people are afraid to take to the streets.

These sources also pointed out that the organizers made sure to distance themselves from the Hamas regime and tried to give the protest a civil and apolitical tone.

Nonetheless, it is appeared that some attempts to promote the protest on social media were done by sources belonging to the Paleostinian Authority in Ramallah, possibly intelligence officials.

This week, the Lebanese government approved a series of reforms intended to calm the rage in the streets.

"This is an economic revolution", said Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri
...Second son of Rafik Hariri, the Leb PM who was assassinated in 2005. He has was prime minister in his own right from 2009 through early 2011. He was born in Riyadh to an Iraqi mother and graduated from Georgetown University. He managed his father's business interests in Riyadh until his father's assassination. When his father died he inherited a fortune of some $4.1 billion, which won't do him much good if Hizbullah has him bumped off, too....
, adding that no government in the history of Leb has ever implemented such wide scale reforms.

In the last few months, there has been a relative quiet along the Gaza-Israel border, mainly due to actions taken by Israel to ease conditions for Gazook civilians.

The soldiers responded with tear gas and occasional live fire.

The Hamas, one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,-run Gaza health ministry said 16 people had been maimed, including six from live fire.

There were no reports of Israeli injuries.

Since March 2018, Paleostinians have been holding weekly "March of Return" protests on the border, which Israel has accused Gaza’s Hamas rulers of using to carry out attacks on troops and attempt to breach the security fence. Hamas, an Islamist terror group, seeks to destroy Israel.

Friday’s march came after a Qatari envoy reportedly arrived in the Gaza Strip overnight Thursday-Friday to distribute another round of cash payments to 100,000 Paleostinian families in the enclave.

It is the latest in a succession of financial aid delivered by Qatari envoy Mohammed al-Emadi meant to cover fuel for electricity, salaries and assistance for needy families in the Strip from Qatar, which has budgeted some $330 million for the program launched last year.

The individual $100 stipends will be handed out on Friday, reports said.

Qatar announced on May 6 that it would send $480 million to the West Bank and Gaza to "aid the brotherly Paleostinian people in obtaining its basic needs." PA officials later said that Doha would deliver $300 million, primarily in loans, to Ramallah’s accounts and $180 million to Gaza.

In recent months, Israel has quietly provided some relief as part of an unofficial, Egyptian-brokered truce with Hamas, in exchange for reduced rocket fire from the territory and the scaling back of weekly protests along the border. It has allowed Qatar to deliver millions of dollars in cash to allow Hamas to pay its civil servants and has allowed the United Nations
...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships...
to step up aid efforts.

Israel has also expanded a program in which it had long provided hundreds of permits to business owners to travel to Israel and the West Bank for commerce. Paleostinian officials say it is now providing some 5,000 so-called merchant permits and awarding them to Paleostinians working as laborers in construction, agriculture and manufacturing.

Earlier this week, a Paleostinian Authority official said Israel has promised to allow a shipment of tires into the Gaza Strip, but an Israeli security source flatly denied the claim, calling it a "lie."

Democrats Say ‘Whistleblower’s’ Testimony No Longer Needed
[BREITBART] House Democrats believe there is sufficient evidence to advance their closed-door impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
without seeking testimony from the so-called "whistleblower," whose complaint initially prompted the probe, according to a Thursday evening report.

The Washington Post, citing several House Democrats, reports that the so-called "whistleblower’s" testimony is no longer a priority in the wake of testimonies delivered by Ukraine’s top diplomat, William Taylor, and former National Security Council senior director Fiona Hill, before congressional Sherlocks.

Taylor told politicians that Gordon Sondland, U.S. Ambassador to the Europe
...the land mass occupying the space between the English Channel and the Urals, also known as Moslem Lebensraum...
an Union, notified Andriy Yermak, an aide to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, that military assistance would only be provided when Zelensky agreed to look into allegations of corruption against former Vice President Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...Old, boring, a plagiarist, fond of hair sniffing and grabbing the protruding parts of women, and not whatcha call brilliant...
and his son, Hunter Biden. Robert Luskin, an attorney for Sondland, said his client has no recollection of the alleged discussion.

"I think it’s quite clear we have a surfeit of evidence that corroborates in full every aspect of what happened and the policy they were pursuing," Rep. Gerald Connolly (D-VA), a member of the House Oversight and Foreign Affairs committees, said in a statement to the Post.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) told the Post: "This is the role that whistleblowers play: Whistleblowers are the people who set off a process by telling the truth. The whistleblower will go down in history as a hero for kicking off this process. But the whistleblower is no longer integral to the investigation in any way."
This is the role anonymus tipsters play. Once the investigation is underway they can be disposed of, if they ever existed.

Soldier injured in firing by Pakistani troops along LoC in Poonch

[HindustanTimes] A defence spokesperson said that Pak troops opened unprovoked firing in Mendhar sector on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

A soldier of Indian army suffered minor injuries in an incident of ceasefire violation by Pak troops, who opened indiscriminate fire in Mendhar sector along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....
’s Poonch district on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.

Defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said, "a soldier suffered minor splinter injuries after Pak troops opened unprovoked fire in Mendhar sector on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. The soldier has been shifted to a hospital."

There has been heavy shelling by Pak troops along the Line of Control, the de facto border between the two countries, in the past few days.

One woman was killed and four other civilians were maimed in shelling by Pak forces in north Kashmir’s Tangdhar sector on Thursday. Station house officer Tanghdar Waseem Ahmad said that a woman identified as Hameed Fatimah of Hajitera was killed, and four civilians were maimed in the cross-LoC shelling on Thursday.

A civilian and two soldiers were killed in Tangdhar region last Saturday night. Three civilians were also injured in the shelling.

Police officials summoned in DI Khan girl stripping case
[DAWN] A Beautiful Downtown Peshawar
...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistain's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire...
High Court bench on Thursday expressed displeasure at the police’s failure to arrest a prime accused in a DI Khan girl stripping case for two years and summoned the deputy inspector general of police and district police officer of the area for explanation on the matter.

Justice Ikramullah Khan and Justice Mussarat Hilali fixed Nov 20 for the next hearing asking the two police officials to appear before them to explain why the prime accused, Sajawal, hasn’t been arrested.

A teenage girl was stripped and paraded naked in her village in Dera Ismail Khan
... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ...
district.

A high court bench had disposed of a petition filed by the girl on Nov 22, 2017, asking the IGP to submit the investigation progress report to the court’s Human Rights Cell on a regular basis for the examination of the chief justice.

In the petition, the girl had made several prayers to the court seeking protection, recovery of the alleged video of the incident, and the arrest of prime accused Sajawal.

From time to time, the high court heard the case but Sajawal continued to be on the lam.

An officer of DI Khan police told the court that efforts were being made to arrest Sajawal.

The relevant DSP said of the nine accused, eight had been arrested but Sajawal, the criminal mastermind of the incident, was on the lam.

He said the accused’s computerised national identity card had already been blocked by Nadra, while his name had been placed on the exit control list.

The girl had claimed that around two years ago, the prime suspect had blamed her brother for handing over a cellphone to a female member of their family and despite his denial on oath, the panchayat (jirga)had ordered her brother to pay a fine of Rs300,000 to them.

She added that despite the decision of the panchayat, the accused led by Sajawal had paraded her naked in the village on Oct 27, 2017.

In the statement recorded with the magistrate, she had claimed that she had gone in the morning to fetch water from a pond along with some women and while returning, the nine accused forcibly ripped her clothes apart and when the accompanying women tried to cover her, the accused threw it away.

She added that initially, the local police didn’t cooperate with her family and even refused to register FIR but later they did it after the residents protested.

Facebook launches a news section and will pay publishers
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Over the course of its 15 year history, Facebook has variously ignored news organizations while eating their advertising revenue, courted them for video projects it subsequently abandoned, and then largely cut their stories out of its newsfeeds.

Now it plans to pay them for news headlines - reportedly millions of dollars in some cases.

Enter the "News Tab," a new section in the Facebook mobile app that will display headlines - and nothing else - from the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, BuzzFeed News, Business Insider, NBC, USA Today and the Los Angeles Times, among others. Local stories from several of the largest US cities will also make the grade; headlines from smaller towns are on their way, Facebook says.

Tapping on those headlines will take you directly to publisher websites or apps, if you have any installed. Which is more or less what publishers have been requesting from Facebook for years.

It’s potentially a big step for a platform that has long struggled with both stamping out misinformation and making nice with struggling purveyors of news. Though media watchers remain skeptical that Facebook is really committed to helping sustain the news industry.

Facebook declined to say who is getting paid and how much, saying only that it will be paying "a range of publishers for access to all of their content." Just last year, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he wasn’t sure it "makes sense" to pay news outlets for their material.

But now, as Zuckerberg told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named in an interview, "there’s an opportunity to set up new long term, stable financial relationships with publishers."

News executives have long been unhappy about the extent to which digital giants like Facebook make use of their stories - mostly by displaying headlines and short summaries when users post news links. A bipartisan bill introduced in Congress this year would grant an antitrust exemption to news companies, letting them band together to negotiate payments from the big tech platforms.

"It’s a good direction that they’re willing for the first time to value and pay for news content," said David Chavern, head of the News Media Alliance, a publisher trade group. "The trouble is that most publishers aren’t included."

Another trucker, his helper shot dead in Kashmir; toll reaches 5
[HindustanTimes] It is the latest in a series of attacks targeting the fruit industry, one of the economic mainstays of the Valley, and non-Kashmiris, following the change in the constitutional status of Jammu & Kashmir
...a disputed territory lying between India and Pakistain. After partition, the Paks grabbed half of it and call it Azad (Free) Kashmir. The remainder they refer to as "Indian Occupied Kashmir". They have fought four wars with India over it, the score currently 4-0 in New Delhi's favor. After 72 years of this nonsense, India cut the Gordian knot in 2019, removing the area's special status, breaking off Ladakh as a separate state, and allowing people from other areas to settle (or in the case of the Pandits, to resettle) there....

Suspected turbans on Thursday rubbed out a truck driver and his associate in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, taking the corpse count of people from outside the state killed by turbans to five in two weeks, the police said.

Another driver, who was injured in the incident, was rushed to a hospital in Srinagar. The truck drivers had gone to ferry apples.

"Terrorists killed two civilians in Shopian and left one injured, who has been shifted to hospital," a police spokesperson said.

It is the latest in a series of attacks targeting the fruit industry, one of the economic mainstays of the Valley, and non-Kashmiris, following the change in the constitutional status of Jammu & Kashmir. The Centre, in August, effectively revoked Article 370 which gave special status to the state, and bifurcated it into two Union territories ‐ J&K and Ladakh.

The police have called these attacks attempts to intimidate the people against resuming normal life in the Valley.

The incident also comes on a day when the Block Development Council polls were held for the first time in the history of the state ahead of its bifurcation on October 31.

Jammu & Kashmir director general of police Dilbagh Singh on Thursday said turbans stopped three trucks with registration numbers from Haryana, Rajasthan and Punjab, and shot up the drivers near Chittargam in Shopian. They also torched two of the trucks, causing partial damage.

Security forces rushed to the spot after the attack to cordon off the area.

One of the truck drivers killed by turbans has been identified as Iliyas Khan, a resident of Alwar in Rajasthan, while the identity of his associate is being ascertained. The second driver injured in Thursday’s attack has been identified as Jeevan Singh from Punjab’s Hoshiarpur.

Last week, a fruit trader from Punjab
1.) Little Orphan Annie's bodyguard
2.) A province of Pakistain ruled by one of the Sharif brothers
3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

was killed and another was critically injured after turbans shot up them at Trenz village in

The same day, on October 16, a brick kiln worker from Chhattisgarh was bumped off by turbans in south Kashmir’s Pulwama. Two holy warriors, including a suspected Pak national, killed a truck driver from Rajasthan and assaulted an orchard owner in Shopian district on October 14.

Fearing violence, the Jammu & Kashmir administration placed restrictions in the Valley after the August 5-6 move to revoke Article 370. Curbs have since been eased in the Valley since, with the state taking out newspaper advertisements asking people not to be afraid of holy warrior threats and resume their businesses even as heavy deployment of security forces continues.

After the attacks, DGP Singh visited Shopian and chaired a high-level meeting, after which an advisory was issued to non-local drivers "not to lift apples from deep inside villages".

According to state officials, eight lakh metric tonnes of fruit has been exported from the Valley in the last three months, to various fruit markets of the country.

Foul play alleged in case of death of suspect kept in police custody in Karachi
[DAWN] KARACHI: A suspected criminal, who had been arrested by the Landhi police a couple of days ago and according to the law enforcement agency was badly injured with multiple wounds when he was taken into custody, died during treatment at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) on Thursday.

The hospital officials said that the 38-year-old man had multiple bruises and died within two hours after he was moved to the health facility by "unknown persons".

Although the police confirmed his arrest for multiple criminal charges, the move fell short to convince the opposition in the Sindh Assembly, members of which staged a protest with the family members of the dear departed outside the JPMC and demanded probe into his "custodial death".

The protest prompted higher authorities to order an inquiry into the circumstances which led to his death.

Dr Seemin Jamali, executive director of the JPMC, told Dawn that Abdul Qadir, 38, was brought to the emergency section of the hospital at around 2.30pm on Thursday. It was not known who brought him to the hospital. There were multiple bruises on his body. There was also a head injury while his one eye was blackened due to impact of wounds. He died during treatment within two hours, added Dr Jamali.

Police Surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi told Dawn that at night the dear departed was in jug of the Landhi police, whose officials had arrived at the mortuary of the hospital.

A doctors’ team under supervision of the magistrate concerned would carry out a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of his death.

A senior police officer, who wished not to be named, told Dawn that Abdul Qadir and another suspect were allegedly detained by a law-enforcement agency.

Their custody was given to the Steel Town police on October 21 and later on, Abdul Qadir was handed over to the Landhi cop shoppe as there was one criminal case registered against him.

The officer added that he was not arrested by the police.

However,
man does not live by words alone, despite the fact that sometimes he has to eat them...
Steel Town police SHO Shakir Ali told Dawn that they had arrested Abdul Qadir on Oct 21.

The SHO added that the suspect had sustained injuries and he had told the police that he had received those injuries five days prior to his arrest due to a fall.

Pentagon chief: US troops, armored vehicles going to Syria oil fields
[IsraelTimes] Pentagon chief Mark Esper said Friday that the United States will leave more American troops and armored vehicles in eastern Syria to help prevent Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
bandidos turbans from gaining access to oil fields controlled by US-allied Syrian Kurds. That deployment will likely include tanks, a US official said.

The defense secretary confirmed that the US will send in an armored force to the region, but he did not provide details or the number of troops.

His comments at a news conference at NATO
...the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. A cautionary tale of cost-benefit analysis....
headquarters in Brussels reflected one more change in what has been a rapidly shifting US stance on American forces in Syria.

Just last week, President Donald Trump
...His ancestors didn't own any slaves...
insisted that all 1,000 American forces in Syria would leave the war-torn country. Then he acknowledged that a couple hundred would stay at the al Tanf garrison in the south.

The US official who send the deployment probably would include tanks offered no more details. This official was not authorized to discuss internal discussions about military planning and spoke on condition of anonymity.

He said the US wants to ensure that Islamic State bandidos turbans do not get access to the oil, which could give the krazed killer group to obtain resources to rebuild.

Robber sentenced to 27 years in jail over killing of Karachi medical student Nimra in cross-fire
[DAWN] An antiterrorism court in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
on Friday awarded 27 years' imprisonment to a robber over the killing of a female medical student during an exchange of fire with police.

Nimra Baig, a 20-year-old student at the Dow University of Health Sciences, was caught in the cross-fire between a police party and suspected robbers near Anda Mor within the remit of Sir Syed cop shoppe on February 22.

While pronouncing its verdict, the court handed down a collective sentence of 27 years to the convict, Muhammad Jumma. He was further ordered to pay a fine of Rs180,000 or serve an additional sentence on default.

According to the prosecution, police constable Adnan and another policeman during a routine patrol spotted two suspected robbers riding a cycle of violence, who tried to escape.

When they were chased by the cops, the suspects shot up police near Anda Mor. Police retaliated and during the exchange of fire Nimra, a passer-by, was hit by a single bullet that proved fatal. She succumbed to her wounds at a hospital later.

Police had initially claimed that Nimra was killed by bullets fired by the robbers, but the post-mortem examination carried out at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre revealed that the bullet in question had been fired from a "high-velocity weapon".

A police team tasked with investigating the student's death had also come to the conclusion that she was killed by a bullet fired by the law-enforcement personnel, sources had told Dawn in March.

One of the two robbers, Riaz, was also killed in the firing while his accomplice Muhammad Jumma was arrested in injured condition and tried on multiple charges.

Sahiwal 'encounter' case: Government to challenge ATC verdict acquitting suspects

3.) A province of India. It is majority (60 percent) Sikh and Hindoo (37 percent), which means it has relatively few Moslem riots....

government to submit an appeal against the verdict handed down by a special anti-terrorism court (ATC) acquitting all suspects in the Sahiwal encounter case, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Friday.

In a post shared on Twitter, Dr Awan said the premier had also instructed the authorities to investigate weaknesses and shortfalls in the case presented by the complainant pleading the case.

Later in the day, Punjab Law Minister Basharat Raja announced that the prosecutor general had been notified of the government's decision to become a complainant in the case.

He further said that a "fact finding commission" had been formed to ascertain the lapses in the case's prosecution and investigation which led to the suspects' acquittal.

The law minister also raised concerns over the family's "acceptance" of the court's verdict. He said that "even if the family is satisfied, the government is not.”

The Grand Turk
Erdogan: Northeast Syria is suitable area for Arabs, not Kurds, to live
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Ottoman Turkish President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First
...Turkey's version of Mohammed Morsi but they voted him back in so they deserve him. It's a sin, a shame, and a felony to insult the president of Turkey. In Anatolia did Recep Bey a stately Presidential Palace decree, that has 1100 rooms. That's 968 more than in the White House, 400 more than in Versailles, and 325 more than Buckingham Palace, so you know who's really more important...
said on Thursday that northeastern Syria is suitable for Arab people to live, but not Kurdish people, because of the area’s desert topography.

"What is important is to prepare a controlled life in this enormous area, and the most suitable people for it are Arabs. These areas are not suitable for the lifestyle of Kurds ... because these areas are virtually desert," Erdogan said, pointing to a map of the Syria, in an interview with Ottoman Turkish television channel TRT.

Erdogan’s remarks attempt to defend Ankara’s military offensive, "Operation Peace Spring," against Kurdish-led militias in Syria, which is still ongoing according to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), despite a truce.

The SDF accused The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...just another cheapjack Moslem dictatorship, brought to you by the Moslem Brüderbund...
on Thursday of targeting three villages in northeast Syria despite a US-brokered ceasefire and a Turkey-Russia peace plan.

Ankara views the Kurdish-led fighters as turbans and justifies the operation as self-defense.

Launched on October 9, the incursion sparked widespread condemnation from the US, who saw Kurdish forces as an effective tool in the fight against ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
, and Arab leaders, who condemned the operation as an invasion of an Arab state’s land.

Erdogan specifically addressed the negative reaction of the Arab League
...an organization of Arabic-speaking states with 22 member countries and four observers. The League tries to achieve Arab consensus on issues, which usually leaves them doing nothing but a bit of grimacing and mustache cursing...
to Turkey’s operation on Thursday.

"The Arab League’s reaction to our Operation Peace Spring is strange, as they have kicked Syria out of the union. Turkey is actively helping Arabs in the region while they are attacking them with barrel bombs," he said in the interview with TRT.

Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit said on October 12 that the Ottoman Turkish offensive was an "invasion of an Arab state’s land and an aggression on its illusory sovereignty."

Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt condemned the Ottoman Turkish military operation at its start.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir said the Ottoman Turkish attack was causing the Syrian people further suffering and demanded all foreign forces withdraw from the country.

Protests continue in Nabatieh despite Nasrallah’s support for government
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] On Friday, Hezbollah’s leader His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah
...The satrap of the Medes and the Persians in Leb...
made a speech in which he asked his supporters to refrain from protesting.

"You want to protest, you need money. How is this protest being funded? Please explain to us how? You ask for transparency, then give it to us. Are you getting paid by certain embassies?" said Nasrallah.

Despite his call, hundreds in the town of Nabatieh, a Shia town considered a stronghold for the Iranian-backed organization and its allies, have taken to the streets on the ninth day of nationwide protesters to express their disdain for his words.

In Nabatieh, protesters erupted into the streets and continued to chant the slogan "kullun yaani kullun," or all of them means all of them, in reference to the entire political class.

A 60-year old-mother, who refused to give her name out of fear of reprisal, lamented: "He should be standing with us. I don’t understand this. We have supported him through everything, we have given our blood to him. He is standing with the corrupt."

"My son has two kids he can barely feed. Get off your lousy seats already! We are with you against Israel but we are against you in this revolution," she added. Hezbollah had gained popularity among some Lebanese for fighting against Israel in the 2006 war, but has since been criticized for protecting the status quo in Leb and fighting in Syria.

Another protester, a 27-year-old man who also chose to remain anonymous, said "what a shame. I am shocked and appalled. He should have been apologizing to us, his thugs beat us. How does he expect us to stand idle and continue to support him?"

Tulsi Gabbard announces she is not running for re-election to House of Representatives
[American Thinker] Bad things tend to happen to people who find themselves on Hillary Clinton's enemies list. Just days after being attacked by Hillary Clinton for being a favorite of the Russians and for allegedly being "groomed" (by Republicans, her spokesman later claimed she meant) to run as a third-party candidate, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard announced late last night that she will not seek re-election to the House of Representatives, where she has served since winning election there in 2012.

It is an odd coincidence that becoming an official enemy of Hillary Clinton preceded this surprise announcement that offered no new reason for the decision announced on Twitter beyond her desire to serve as president.

Russian soldier kills 8 colleagues in mass shooting at Siberian military base
[CNN] Eight Russian servicemembers were killed in an apparent shooting spree at a military base in Siberia on Friday, Russia's top law enforcement agency said in a statement.

According to the statement from the Investigative Committee, a soldier allegedly opened fire on colleagues at a military garrison near the city of Chita, killing two officers and six enlisted personnel. A suspect in the case, Private Ramil Shamsutdinov, a member of Unit 54160, had been detained, the Investigative Committee said.

According to the Russian defense ministry, the shooting occurred at around 6:20 p.m. local time during a change in a guard shift. Eight servicemembers were killed on the spot, and two additional military personnel were injured and taken to a hospital; their condition is not life-threatening, the ministry said.

A commission of the Russian defense ministry, headed by Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Colonel-General Andrei Kartapolov, flew to the scene of the incident, and an investigation is underway. The Investigative Committee said a criminal investigation had been opened in the case under Article 105 of the Criminal Code: the killing of two or more persons. A system of pervasive hazing was once common in the Russian and Soviet militaries, and bullied soldiers sometimes turned their weapons on colleagues. Such cases are relatively rarer today.

"Gorny This is your town Chita-46"
Gal Post says, in a poor Ukrainian to English translation, that the shooting was a result of hazing (previously described by Russian authorities as a "nervous breakdown") and took place at guard mount. The private first shot the officer, then the other guys. He'd been assigned to Unit 54160 (Gorny Closed Administrative Territorial Unit at Chita) and he'd been mocked for his ignorance of the training manual. The kid said he dunnit and he's glad.

Meduza.io sez the kid left the base with his weapon (a capital offense under the Sovs) and they had to organize a search party to round him up.

News-r.ru breaks the deaders down as a captain, senior lieutenant, and five privates.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Putin Now Owns the Syrian Chaos
[Hudson Institute] One of the benefits of attending the Valdai Club annual meeting in Sochi is the opportunity to understand were and how strong the wind is blowing in Russian foreign policy. The speeches are not enough. Brief words exchanged in the empty halls of the large hotel up in the Polyana mountains speak much louder ‐ sometimes with an echo.
snip
The problem is acute in Syria. Russia has maneuvered itself into a preeminent position and has even succeeded in forcing the United States to conclude that its position in the country is unsustainable. Trump has just announced a withdrawal. But the problem with being in charge is that no one else can provide order.
Trump wasn't forced. It was the right decision, one in the interests of the American people. It wasn't in the interest of the tiny number of globalists in America, thus their fury at their war being taken away from them.
Russia perhaps feels that it can do it on its own, but it knows it must find new tools and adopt a new mindset in this expanded role. In Valdai, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov again assumed the role of indefatigable mediator between all factions and interests in Syria ‐ although a certain exasperation now seems to be creeping in.

When Putin meets Tayyip Erdogan in Sochi this week, he may well feel that his life mission has been accomplished. For the first time, he sits at the apex of the world order. In what concerns Syria at least, no one is above him.
Syria is a worthless piece of desert. He can have it. Now he owns all of the problems there. A big win for America. We have no interests there.
But that also means that no one else can solve the problems arising everywhere. He must bring together Turkey and the Syrian Kurds, the latter still under the leadership of a violent armed organization. Then he must conciliate the Kurds and the Assad regime and, finally, prevent a war between Turkey and Syria. If Russia fails, all these actors will quickly turn against it.

The question thus is: if Russia is under the obligation of creating political order in Syria, what makes us believe that it is up to the task and willing to pay the associated costs ‐ when even the United States is powerless to create order and does not see the benefits of doing so?
Who the hell said that was our job? None of these people have ever questioned their assumptions.
The moment reminds me of the idea advanced after Davos two years ago that China would replace America as the lynchpin of globalization and free trade. As Machiavelli could have told us, things are never so simple.

Arkansas hunter dies after being attacked by a deer he'd just shot
[CBSNEWS] In a shocking twist of fate, an experienced Arkansas hunter was attacked by a deer he had just shot in the woods on Tuesday evening. The hunter later died after suffering puncture wounds from the deer's antlers.Officials said 66-year-old Thomas Alexander was hunting in Yellville, Arkansas on Tuesday when he shot a buck using a muzzleloader. As he approached the animal, believing it was dead, it attacked him.

"He apparently went over to the buck and it got up and attacked him," said Keith Stephens, the chief of communications for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.

Alexander was able to call his wife and emergency responders planned to airlift him out of the woods, but he stopped breathing before they could get in the helicopter, so he was taken by ambulance instead.

Alexander was pronounced dead at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Stephens said. An official cause of death has not been released.

"We're not sure that he died from the deer. It could have been other medical issues. It's my understanding that there's not going to be an autopsy," Stephens told CBS News. "The hospital did note that he had several puncture wounds."

Stephens said the situation is "very rare." A similar attack by a maimed deer occurred in south Arkansas in 2016, but the hunter in that case survived.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission has sent two K-9 units to search for the deer, but have been unsuccessful. It is not known whether or not it survived the incident.

The Lahore High Court granted Sharif -- who was PM three times before he was ousted over corruption allegations in 2017 -- bail at 10 million Pak rupees ($63,900) on medical grounds "for an indefinite period", a court official told AFP.

A second court official said the ruling had come after doctors confirmed Sharif was suffering from an autoimmune blood disorder requiring immediate medical attention.

It was not immediately clear where Sharif would receive treatment or how severe his condition is.

The 69-year-old was taken to hospital on Tuesday when his blood platelet count dropped to dangerous levels, local media reported.

The Supreme Court disqualified Sharif from politics for life over graft allegations in 2017, and he later received a seven-year jail sentence.

He denies all the corruption charges against him and claims he is being targeted by the country's powerful security establishment.

Iraq
At least 27 42 people killed as fresh protests engulf Iraq
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] At least 27 protesters were killed in Iraq on Friday when security forces used tear gas and an Iranian-backed militia opened fire to try to quell renewed demonstrations against corruption and economic hardship, security sources said.

A government intelligence officer and a member of the powerful Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia were killed in a clash with protesters in the southern city of Amara, police sources said.

Nearly 1,800 people were maimed nationally as demonstrators erupted into the streets to vent frustration at political elites they say have failed to improve their lives after years of conflict.

"All we want are four things: jobs; water, electricity, and safety. That’s all we want," said 16-year-old Ali Mohammed who had covered his face with a T-shirt to avoid inhaling tear gas, as chaotic scenes overwhelmed Tahrir Square.

Sirens wailed and tear gas canisters landed in the middle of groups of young protesters wearing Iraqi flags and chanting "with life and blood we defend you Iraq."

The bloodshed is the second major bout of violence this month. A series of festivities two weeks ago between protesters and security forces left 157 people dead and over 6,000 maimed.

The unrest has broken nearly two years of relative stability in Iraq, which lived through foreign occupation, civil war and an ISIS
...embracing their inner Islamic Brute...
insurgency between 2003 and 2017. It is the biggest challenge to security since IS was declared beaten.

On Friday, eight protesters were killed in Baghdad, the Iraqi Human Rights Commission said. At least five of them were protesters struck by tear gas canisters in Baghdad, security sources said.

In the south, at least six protesters died when members of the Iranian-backed Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia guarding the group’s local office in Nasiriya city opened fire after protesters tried to set the office on fire, security sources said.

Eight people were killed in Amara city, including six protesters, one AAH member, and one intelligence officer, police sources said. One protester was killed in Samawa.

Interior Ministry front man Khalid al-Muhanna said at least 68 members of the security forces had also been injured.
The Times of Israel adds:
Rallies had resumed on Friday, with a range of actors from Iraq’s highest Shiite authority to the United Nations urging restraint.

They began early and calm on Thursday evening, with protesters exchanging flowers with security forces and the interior minister insisting police would “protect” protesters.

But by Friday evening, demonstrations across the country had descended into violence that left 42 protesters dead — at least half of them as they attacked the headquarters of armed factions or government bodies.

Thousands massed Friday outside Baghdad’s Green Zone, which hosts government offices and foreign embassies, but security forces used a volley of tear gas to push them back.

Iraq’s mostly-Kurdish north and Sunni west have stayed silent.

In response to protests, authorities have shut roads and imposed curfews and an internet blackout, which has been mostly lifted although social media remains blocked.

Parliament is scheduled to meet on Saturday to discuss the protests further.

Related: Rudaw liveblogged the day’s events here. As of midnight local time there were 42 dead and over 2,000 injured, mostly from gunshots, tear gas, and rubber bullets. Twenty-seven buildings containing political party and government offices have been torched, including that of the powerful Badr organization, across Diwaniya, Maysan, Wasit, Dhi Qar, Basra, and Babylon. As of 9:00 p.m. curfews were announced in five provinces: Wasit, Muthana, Dhi Qar, Basra, and Babylon.

IRGC’s Salami: Iran today is stronger than its ‘enemies’
[ENGLISH.ALARABIYA.NET] Iran’s today is stronger than its "enemies," who have power but are unable to use it, claimed the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Hossein Salami on Friday, according to the semi-official Mehr news agency.

"Being powerful is not just about having power, but also to be able to exercise your power," said Salami, addressing a group of IRGC commanders in south-west Iran.

"Our enemies have power, but are incapable of using it," he added, adding that Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan, the abbreviation IRGC is a cognate form of Stürmabteilung (or SA), the term Supreme Guide is a cognate form of either Shah or Führer or maybe both, and they hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
is more powerful than its opponents for that reason.

Salami had previously claimed that Iran is capable of attacking its enemies anywhere, and that Israel’s destruction is now an "achievable goal."

Iran is accused of pursuing aggressive policies in the region, including attacking Soddy Arabia
...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula. Its primary economic activity involves exporting oil and soaking Islamic rubes on the annual hajj pilgrimage. The country supports a large number of princes in whatcha might call princely splendor. When the oil runs out the rest of the world is going to kick sand in the Soddy national face...
’s oil facilities, threatening shipping in the Arabian Gulf, and continuing to support proxy organizations in Leb, Iraq, and Yemen
...an area of the Arabian Peninsula sometimes mistaken for a country. It is populated by more antagonistic tribes and factions than you can keep track of...
Tensions in the region have been heightened after the September 14 attacks on Saudi Aramco oil facilities, which Iran is widely accused of carrying out.

Judge in Texas rules parents must make joint decision in gender transition case
[FOXNEWS] A judge ruled on Thursday that a 7-year-old child in Texas would remain under a joint managing conservatorship of both parents ‐ the father has been in a desperate battle to keep the boy from undergoing a gender transition championed by the biological male’s mother.

The Texan reported that Judge Kim Cooks gave the two parents, Jeff Younger, the father, and the mother, Dr. Anne Georgulas, joint decision-making over all medical, dental and psychiatric care for their kids.

A ruling in favor of the mother could have allowed her to move forward with plans to potentially give the boy puberty blockers after she received a letter of recommendation from Dallas Rainbow Therapy, urging that he "receive a full psychological assessment for gender dysphoria and potentially take hormone blockers," The Washington Examiner reported.

Cooks also issued a gag order on the father, the newspaper reported.
"He's guilty of making me look like an idiot!"
Younger petitioned the court earlier this month for sole custody of his twins, James and Jude, to prevent their mother, Georgulas, from allowing James to begin hormone replacement therapy.

According to Georgulas, who works as a pediatrician, James is transgender, identifies as a girl, likes to wear dresses and goes by the name "Luna." Younger says James is a happy boy, and he contends that a "social transition" or "medical transition" would not be in his best interest.

James’ mom, who is divorced from Jeff Younger, initially filed a petition for joint conservatorship which required Younger to affirm the child's identity by using the name "Luna," something recommended by James' therapists. In response, Younger filed for sole custody. But on Monday, a jury returned a verdict in favor of Georgulas.

300 Russian police arrive in Syria for border patrols: Moscow
[DAWN] Some 300 Russian military police have arrived in Syria to patrol the flashpoint Syrian-Ottoman Turkish frontier, the Russian defence ministry said on Friday.

The military police, who arrived from the Russian region of Chechnya, will work to ensure the safety of the population and help Kurdish forces withdraw to a line 30 kilometres (18 miles) from the border, Moscow said.

More than 20 armoured vehicles were also sent to Syria to help carry out the tasks, the defence ministry said in a statement.

This week Russia and The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire...
signed a deal that will see Russian military police and Syrian border guards "facilitate the removal" of Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) from within 30 kilometres of the border.

The Turkey-Russia agreement was reached after marathon talks between President His Enormity, Sultan Recep Tayyip Erdogan the First

Indian army chief with 'blood of innocents on his hands' seeks to become defence staff head: ISPR
[DAWN] The Pakistain Army's media wing on Friday said that Indian army chief Bipin Rawat with "irresponsible statements" and "blood of innocents on his hand" seeks to become the Indian Chief of Defence Staff.

The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) is a proposed position for the combined head of the Indian army, Indian air force and Indian navy. The creation of the post was announced by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his independence day speech in August.

Director general of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that Gen Rawat has been "repeatedly provoking war" through his statements, which threaten peace in the region, with the aim of facilitating "electioneering of political masters".

Joe Biden twice used his position as senator to intervene to boost son Hunter's lobbying
[WASHINGTONEXAMINER] Joe Foreign Policy Whiz Kid Biden
...The former Senator-for-Life from Delaware, an example of the kind of top-notch Washington intellect to be found in the World's Greatest Deliberative Body...
privately contacted the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice when he was a senior and influential U.S. senator to discuss issues that his son Hunter’s firm was being paid to lobby on, according to government records.

On at least two occasions, Biden contacted federal departments to discuss issues related to Hunter’s firm’s lobbying clients, according to records reviewed by the Washington Examiner.

Biden’s behind-the-scenes outreach illustrates how his Senate work overlapped with his son’s business interests. Biden has faced scrutiny for taking actions that were perceived to benefit his son’s work, including calling for the firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor and backing policies that helped the Delaware-based credit card industry while Hunter was working for MBNA, which is headquartered in the state.
